I'm sure you guys have experienced it to some extent. Whenever you use a micro that isn't the stock MHL that comes with your phone. Regular micro's tend to come loose here & there causing it to lose connection/stop charging.
At least for me, it does this every single time I'm charging my phone in my car.
So, to stop it from moving, I wrapped the end near the connection with a strip of that wall mounting foam & then went around it with some electrical tape. I had to do a minor adjustmentbut now it doesn't wiggle at all.

I'm definitely experiencing this problem. Sometimes I have to hold the phone in a manner where I have my finger "propping" the cable in to keep it charging.
Might look into this fix...

I wish HTC or any of the phone makers would come out with something that worked. It gets old trying to make this work......

Get a charger with a USB port and a separate cable, then when this happens just replace the USB cable. Not ideal, but the cable is cheap enough. And that's how the connector is designed, for the cable to fail and not he connector on the phone. It's much cheaper to replace the cable than it is to replace the phone.

I picked up a couple of these and they fit great, they snap in nice and firm.

My stupid mhl connector got stepped on and bent and the tip broke off
The cable from my old droid seems to fit snug but not nearly as secure as the original cable

Whoa!! 6 feet of cable, awesome for couch surfing. Maybe a little crazy for the car. I'm not above hacking one of those 3 dollar suckers down to a more manageable length for the ride.

Anyone Know If The Magic Dock Will Work With The G1?

It's on T-Mo's site for $25. Of course you'd have to take the USB cover off.

the usb connector would be fine, question is whether it would physically fit in.Not really sure because the dock seems to fit around the bottom curve of the magic, but the bottom of the G1 is flat. I'd say probably not.
If you're looking for a dock, there's a number of them on ebay specifically for the G1. I got one with a slot for an extra battery and it works just fine.

i got mine off amazon when i was on super sale, the one i have has a slot for an extra battery and it works great, only downfall is it has a bright ass charging led that i covered up with a small peice of electrical tape, works really well, but a g1 with a extended battery will not fit in it (atleast not the battery door that i had), and it cant charge the extended battery either (as in i cant take it out and put it in the slot)
To be clear, you have to pull off the USB door, correct?
Its better not to use a dock. It puts unnecessary stress on the plug and doesn't offer any benefits. You would be better off just plugging the wire into it.

i agree. docks are just eye candy. and plus its a lot easier to use the phone without being it plugged up to a dock

mini-USB male to iPod/iPhone Female?

is there such a product? Many people have an ipod connector in their vehicle (FM transmitter or other) and was wondering if there is such a converter that i can plug into my mini-USB port on my phone that allows an iPod/iPhone connector to plug into it just for audio out. (don't care about charging really but that would be a +).
If their isn't the pin i'm sure the pin outs are readily available. I know they are for the minu-USB/ext-USB for our devices. So would be as simple as dissecting both pieces and then mating the proper wires?
I found this i-Pod female to 3.5mm but it would be too much to carry this around with my mini-USB to 3.5mm
i want something like this but inverted so to speak (iPhone/iPod connector to be female and mini-USB connector to be male)

After refining my search, i found this thread asking about the same thing and this mod where someone created the converter for the G1.
I have finals coming up next week and will probably look more into this in the summer and create my own converter.
Anybody be willing to buy one if i start custom making them? and if there's a great demand, maybe start getting them mass produced.
I'm thinking $15-$25 depending on how difficult it would be to create each one (looks fairly simple) and the material of the casing (maybe a custom carbon-fire?) what do you guys think?

well you can get a long mini usb cable that long and then get the little mini to micro adapter tip for it and it would work just fine!
canadiantire.ca has some interesting usb options.. do a search for usb they have some plug and cable assemblies that could be of interest.
Search Ebay (UK) for leads: USB 2.0 A MALE to MICRO USB B MALE DATA CHARGING CABLE (item 290441711518)
And Mini Car Charger USB Adapter (item 390250810047)
Cost peanuts
there are many usb car chargers that are simply a small cylinder that practically fit into the cigarette lighter hole and have a standard female usb plug on it. you could get one of those and a micro-usb cable separately however long you want. be warned though that some universal chargers do not work with our phones as they sense how they are being charged by resistance over the data pins.

[Q] Mini HDMI swivel cable/adapter

Hello there,
I wonder how the mini-hdmi slot feels like when a cable is plugged in and the tablet is in your hands : the slot is on the right, and it seems like the connection is going to be quite fragile if you try to play an accelerometer based game with this cable leaving the tablet at 90 degrees and having all the weight of the cable until it reaches the floor to get to the tv applying force down on the little connection...
this is why I'm trying to find a robust mini-hdmi to hdmi swivel adapter. Something like this :

but mini-hdmi to hdmi.
Does someone have an idea ? Does this exist ? Am I looking for something not necessary ? (I don't have the pad yet as it should come to France by the beginning of May)
Cheers,
Sgspikes
Most mini hdmi to hdmi cables aren't the thickest things in the world. The cable should be able to handle the torsion easily way before the connection. As long as its a camera type hdmi cable and not a bulky thick cable.
You could use that very cable and add a HDMI to Mini (or Micro) HDMI adapter. They're available on amazon for a few dollars
I got one of these and it worls well so far.

Review - YCCTeam wireless Charging Pad

I recently received a test unit to sample from YCCTeam, to use with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. I had been using older Qi chargers before this, namely multiple Nokia DT-900 units arranged around my house, and a few other random Chinese branded chargers as well.

The phone connects reliably, every time it's placed on the charger, and works with the various cases that I use. To be honest, I've never come across any cases that DON'T work with Qi chargers, but I don't use bulky options like UAG or Otterbox. I haven't noticed any unusual heat from either the charger or my phone since I've started using it last week.
I tried a few phones with this charger, namely the S7, S7 Edge, the Nexus 5, and the Droid Turbo. Because of the three coil technology, the phone easily connects and starts charging, regardless of placement. This is my first three coil charger, and I have to admit it's nice to not have the phone disconnect overnight if my cat bumps the phone while it's charging on my nightstand. When the phone is placed on the charger, you get an awesome effect with the blue LEDs around the edge, and they have a slow "breathing" effect where the lights pulse on and off. It's nice to see that it's working, and on a desk or a table, this will be great. It's NOT subtle, so I wouldn't keep this in your bedroom, to be perfectly honest.
Now, to the down side, and this is a big down side for me: For some reason, when the phone is not on the charger, the LED lights stay on, rather than off. I can't get confirmation on if this is a defective unit or not, but needless to say, you don't want this next to you while you're trying to sleep. For this reason alone, I relegated this unit to my office where it's not a distraction.
