Hi.
I own this atrix which seems to be cool phone. Being a noob i am fascinated by the apps in market which require root access. Thought of giving up my warranty away and rooting it. But was sad when I tried doing that. I have tried this software called "oneclick something something". But it didnt help. It got hanged at starting psneuter. I know that there are many pages in this forum regarding the same problem. But I thought I might be able to get a personalised response on the below specs of my phone which doesnt seem to match any other post here.
System specs:
System version: 45.31.2.MB860.T-Mobile.en.GB
Model: MB860
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: N_01.100.00R
Webtop version: WT-1.2.0-133_38
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2
Build number: 4.5.2A-74_OLE-31.2
APflex version: do yo require this?? quiet long.
I couldnt find out what to do to root this phone. I did try one way mentioned on this forum but it didnt work. I have always made sure that usb debugging is on and the SD card is mounted whenever required. I know this forum is full of super duper pros and someone will surely help a new user of this forum.
Regards.
I don't think rooting voids warranty, but it's easy too root through fastboot, but if you want to so any rom flashing you need to unlock bootloader, that will void your warranty

Read the noobs guide at the top of this subforum.
Make sure you have yor moto drivers installed on your pc.
I had a similar build to yours and used Petes Motorola Tools, plus many times since with great success.
Can I also recommend SuperOneClick? I have had 100% success rate with this tool with two different Motorola phones.
You need also to turn the USB debugging on as well for this tool to work. It might reboot your phone a couple of times, be patient.

Good Luck!
Rooting TMob UK Atrix
Just use:
http://www.android-advice.com/2011/root-the-motorola-atrix-4-5-91-on-gingerbread-2-3-4-updated/
Pete's Motorola Root Tools, I used it on my TMob UK Atrix and it worked fine. Didn't use this exact guide, but some one with his Pete's Moto tools which apparently doesn't claim support of Atrix but works fine.
If you want to unlock, then just this guide:
I think this should work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423
sorry though, I cannot quite remember the guide I used, all I do remember, was that it wasn't a case of just typing "fastboot oem unlock", like it is for the AT&T Gingerbread updated devices. Just follow the guide and you shouldn't have any problems.
Oh and just one more piece of advice, don't overclock your device.
Cheers guys. I will try Pete's motorola root tool and hopefully post my success story.

I own the original US beta streak given out at the run on congress ave
its running:
baseband: GAUSB1A110100
kernal: 2.6.29-perf
Build: 3562
I've tried to look up information on this build and nothing seems to be available
I was wondering if anyone could provide some help as to how to root my device
...anyone?
Hi tragicxtacie
Have you tried Androot that is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750085
Really easy and simple although it may say failed first time so just try again and it should work and seriously you can't expect an answer within 33minutes especially not at the weekend you need little more patience then that.

Hey dogmann,
Sorry about the impatience it's just this is the first android device ive owned and can't root. I have tried androot and it does give me the error message, so I try again and it says it's successfully rooted but when I open superuser it crashes on me. And I also installed the wifi tether (not sure if it's supported for 1.6 on the streak) and it says that there's parts from the kernel that are missing for it to work
I was also wondering if someone could give me a little more insight on the build which is very different from all the numbers I've seen.
Can anyone help....?

Question [Q] Need help/Suggestion!!!
Hi I bought a Lg P500 a month back,details are:
Android Version:2.2.1
Kernel Version:2.6.32.9
Build Number:FRG83
Software Version:V10c DEC-08-2010.
When i checked through Lg update notification it said a new version 10d is avaialble.
Q1)What is the difference between v10 c and v10 d ??
Q2)suppose if i upgraded my phone to 10d,if i didnt like the update can i revert back to old version??
I am using APP2SD and moved all apps to mem card.
As my phone has 40 pre-apps which stored in internal memory ,My phone has hardly 19-20 mb free internal memory..So it is very difficult to manage .
Q3)Can anybody please suggest how to remove Preinstalled apps which i dont want??
I am afraid to install custom roms mentioned in the other posts as the phone is only 1 month old .
Q3)Does Warranty still exists if i do any custom rom like cynogen or unofficial ginger bread update etc?
Please suggest some tips to improve Performance of my Phone .
Many Many Advance thanks for replying ..

Hi and welcome!
I'll try to reply to your questions in the same style
Q1: There is small difference between V10c and V10D. In my opinion, it is not wise to update original fw until the official 2.3 arrives. If you upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.2 you'll loose the ability to root your phone.
Q2: You can always downgrade your device using KDZ. If you need more info on this one, follow this thread. Just make sure to read carefully and try to understand the risk that implies flashing with KDZ. If you pass this ones, you'll be upgrading and downgrading in no-time.
Q3: You can remove pre-installed apps only if you root your phone, and use an root un-installer, or by flashing a different rom with no pre-installed apps.
To do this, you have to have Android 2.2 on your device (not 2.2.2), and use a tool like SuperOneClick Root or Z4Root. Again, you should be careful and read every warning.
To get the most from your phone, check out the threads on XDA forum regarding Optimus One Android Development or Optimus One General. There are a lot of things to do, with a lot of details and tutorials, just follow carefully.
I hope this helps you.
Cheers mate!

thanks for your kind advice .. I have tried to root using z4 root but it didn't rooted my phone instead my phone was lil bit slow after installation then i have upgraded to V10D through original firmware which shown in my pc suite .
It have tried to open the following link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500
but it seems the link is not working.
So ..I m thinking better to wait for one more month for LG till it releases 2.3 ..
Man, you'll have to wait more than one month for 2.3... :|
About the link you cannot open, i guess it is broken, it doesn't work for me either. But you must be able to find the fw you need for your country by searching for it on google. I found mine on other forum, and it works perfect. Just google "lg optimus one <<your country>> rom" (no quotes) and you shall find it. Be sure to get the *.kdz file, not *.dz, they need some other application for flashing, and it is more complicated.
About rooting with z4root, you need to downgrade to v10C or below (maybe v10D works too, i haven't tried) and then use z4root. Make sure you have debugging checked in applications before using z4root.
If you want to root v10D or newer (but up to android 2.2.1) you should be able to do it using OneClick method, it is easy enough, though you need the drivers installed on your pc, as you will connect the device via usb.
Tell me where are you from, maybe i can get you the original fw, at least i can help finding
Cheers!

Hello, I am very new to smartphones and I need some help about a few things. I tried to find some answers on the forums first before posting, but the amount of new information is quite staggering and I got confused in no time. If I missed any important information for newbs like me please direct me there. I do have good knowledge of PC and programming in general, but so far nothing at all about smartphones.
I have an unlocked Xperia x10a, not rooted, originally from Rogers in Canada now using Fido. I'm running Windows XP SP3 on my PC. I just found out that a month ago Sony Ericsson released a new android update for it that's 2.3.3, but mine is still 2.1.1 and PC Companion says there are no updates when I checked today. Does anyone know if it's officially available in Canada yet?
1. "Carrier-Free"
While I was reading the Sony Ericsson blog about the 2.3.3 upgrade, I noticed it mentioned that the device must be "carrier-free". Is this where "debranding" comes in? I found a link to a website about it:
An easy guide to debranding your handset
but most of the recent comments on there are saying it no longer works. The author made and update that mentioned another way of doing it entirely using the PC companion's "repair" function. Can anyone confirm if that's still a safe way to do it? If not, what's the most common and safest way to do it, and is it absolutely necessary for getting the upgrade?
2. "Flashing"
Is it harmful to my phone by any chance? I'd rather not touch it if there's a good chance that it will break my phone. My understanding so far is that if I want the update or to root my phone this is required? Is the Flashtool found HERE still safe to use today for updating to 2.3.3?
Sorry for the long post, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Thanks in advance as I try to cram the beginner stuffs in.
Using flashtool is probably the best way for you to get Android 2.3 on your phone.
All you have to do is download and install flashtool on your computer.
There are a numerous number of guides on here that can help you.
Sent from my x10 Platinum
Simplest way to do is root your phone using flashtool, then ask permission and install Xrecovery.
Then flash your decided custom 2.3.3 ROM via Xrecovery.
All you have to do is read, read all instructions related rooting 2.1 and flashing new rom on X10 android development carefully.
Just ask me if you need some help.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yay the 2.3.3 update was released on PC companion today for my phone, so I guess no need to go through the flashing process now
But I guess I will still try to root the phone after the update finishes, so I can get rid of those annoy carrier-bundled apps that keeps running no matter how many times I try to stop them...
Hi All,
I recently bought an Atrix. I would like to root the phone and then flash a custom ROM onto the phone. However, I have a Linux OS on my laptop (running Ubuntu 10.10) and all the guides I've seen use Windows programs.
Has anybody successfully rooted an Atrix using Linux, or has anybody come across a guide that explains it using Linux?
Any help appreciated.
If you looked at the sticky at General forum you would see that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548

And about flashing roms, you need to unlcok your bootloader first, and you can do it with Linux system, read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Good luck and have fun
Cheers. I'll check out the links later.
The links talk about gingerbread - my Atrix (UK) still runs on 2.2. Will the aforementioned method still work on my Atrix?
Hey all -- just a quick web page to give you guys a head start when it comes to rooting your DROID BIONIC. This method works on Motorola phones running Android OS 2.3.4 or earlier.

The top line here: http://www.psouza4.com/Bionic/
i've already have my Atrix with a custom rom and kernel, 'cause i've unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed romracer's recovery.
i've been searching through the Atrix 2 and Droid Razr forums ('cause i'm thinking of buying one of those devices since the ICS let down) to see how possible it is to change roms in those devices and to my surprise, none of them has a way to unlock the bootloader (thus no way to install a custom kernel?).
is it really the Atrix 4g the only moto (besides some razr and photon developer editions) that is "hack" friendly?, the only moto that can freely load a rom with a custom kernel?.
greetings.
Officially other that what Motorola lists is what can be unlocked, Though there is an automated script that managed to unlock mine on 2.3.6 (I got the phone when it came out, so I am not sure if it works on later/refurbished models)

The best way to do it. Its confirmed working on your version. Look thru the thread for the most current download cuz the op link is dead. I used it on exactly same version you have.

luckily it is possible (via script though) unlock the atrix 4g bootloader, i haven't seen a method on atrix 2 or droid razr

I guess so
Thank god, I didn't go for Atrix 2.
