I had OTA update yesterday that got me to 2.3.5, and first time I opened the market, I got a new window saying upgrading to play store and worked well. I had many problems and re flashed to stock 2.3.3 and received the 2.3.5 OTA but didn't get Google play. I tried clearing the cache and opening the market again but still 3.4.4, I tried to clear cache then click the new icon on play books, nothing! I get the Google play license to accept but that's it, not the upgrade window. What's wrong here? How can I force update it? Would installing the new APK prevent any future updates like with automatic update? Any idea why it's not updating even though I could do that yesterday? I tried Market Enabler to fake provider but nothing. With each try I did reboot. Any advice?
By the way, I did install the APK but it got me something with slightly different name "Play Shop" than what I had with automatic update which was "Play Store". I tried un installing updates, it only updates to 3.4.4, my friends with the same phone and ROM did receive the update.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks! But I have a question, after updating using the apk file, will it work normally and detect future updates just like the automatic update?

Absolutely. #opensourcebaby
just enable "sync" and the update will be successful.
Enable sync where exactly?

The new market is much much better looking than the old one.
Here is the link to the .apk file of the market. Just download and install it as any other app.

If you're having problems after installing it (I did not have any problem) or you don't like it. Goto Settings>>Applications>>from the upper tab choose All App>>go to market app and click on Uninstall updates. This should get you back to the old Market.
Thanks for the link. It takes a sec to get used to, but looks pretty slick.

question : 1. this release of android market stops the update process if installed on stock 2.3.3GB?
2. Android market will auto-update to this new version or it is available only for some countries? I live in Romania for example.
thank you

This update will be rolled out to all countries and has been released in very few countries (I think only some carriers in US and Canada).
Regarding your first question, I don't think so, but you can never be sure until the next update is released.

I think it cannot break the updates bcoz the market updater is a separate app, not within the vending apk.

so do you think it is possible to have a problem with market updater ?

Works fine, but I see (?) Japanese text in app info tab for some apps (eg. Facebook app). But, my system language settings is english. Will be difficult to know about the app.

Like the title says. I am trying to get Google + on the nook with Cm7 n138. It will show up in the market but with no install button. Looking for advice or the APK. Thanks in advance
Paul
My guess is that since the NC doesn't have full GPS or location abilities, that it is not supported for the device. Example: if you try to do anything related to location with G+ app, it FCs. At least that has been my experience. I normally use it on my phone rather than my nook.
@biohazards. You are correct on the GPS. People in other sections of this forum are using fake location to overcome the GPS issues. I am looking for advice on this.
Thank you for the reply.

It shows up in my Market and allows it to be installed. Have you tried flashing any of the newer nightlies >138?

If its the new market you are refering to, then try clearing data in applications under market. I don't think the market update process is working. I checked after reading this post and as is the usual case there was no ratings or option to install. So I cleared data in market and agreed to terms yada yada yada....bingo installed Google+

I have the same problem too.. Tried almost everything.. Flashing new roms, wiping, clearing cache and data of market, in every way either with market enabler or not new market search and web-based market is not working after rebooting. For temporary solution i found to downgrade to the old version. Market auto-updates itself to new one but it works until reboot.
P.S. : My device is Galaxy SII
Yes, removing upsates makes it work again, on my atrix new search upsate gives error and closes search if i try to search within my installef apps . (Pressing search button while insife all my apps) also theres no longer the dropdown for search type in the left side of rhe widget just below the G logo. I hope they fix this since i use that functionslity a lot.
At least i would like a way to prevent it from updating.
On the Market the update appears but I can't choose to update as it says; it's not available in your country. Google maps works just fine on the phone هincluding navigation and I had no problem before updating it. I have Google Maps 5.5.0 installed, how do I force installing the update? I have Gingerbread 2.3.3 and it's rooted. Thanks in advance!
Use market enabler from market. It can fake your provider, I used it to update gmaps.

how do you update your market app? I don't know if it's because the app is outdated but a lot of common apps don't show up when I search for them. thanks on advance.

Market
Im not sure that you can thats a good question, what if you update the phone itself
If an update is available it should update itself automatically, however you can force it by clearing the market data.
Also try some market enabler to fake your location if there is no update available.

Market should update on its own. Some apps don't show because of location, download a market enabler.

As said earlier, the market should update on it's own. If it doesn't, then you can manually install the apk file: http://www.multiupload.com/O7AIK6RLAL.
try to search on google the apk, the last is market 3.4.4
