This is already being discussed here:

You're not the only one.
By the way, I found a fix:
I ran the fastboot, etc, on a XP PC (or just a VM in my case). It worked like a charm. I installed the drivers, rebooted the VM and now I'm on a rooted and unlocked Xperia S.
it's work ...... thanks

Hi,
I just got my Sony Xperia S (on T-Mobile in the UK) and am having problems getting into fastboot mode. Unlike any of the reported issues I can find, I am not getting five seconds of fastboot before the system resets. In fact, I am not getting any fastboot at all. When I press volume up and plug the phone in via the USB cable, it does... nothing interesting. It simply goes straight to the Sony splash and then the charging screen.
I am on Windows 7, and can probably get access to a Vista machine for diagnostics, if it would help. XP may be a bit more tricky.
Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

To elaborate, I get no blue LED under any circumstances.
Try a different USB port maybe?
Did you turn on USB debugging on your S?

I've tried a few, but the USB port is definitely working - the phone is charging from it, just not entering fastboot mode.

Did you check if can be unlocked in the service menu. If your phone is branded they normally can't be unlocked and they will not enter fastboot at all.

That may be it. I can't get to the service menu thanks to an MMI error but if that's how it exhibits then it's plausible.
Is there any way around this? This phone is stuffed with bloat and I really want to get rid of it.

Hello I have an Xperia S, with bootloader locked and recently installed a ROOM in order to get the 6.A.1.2.55 with root.
Installed from a ZIP from recovery mode following this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2009672
Now when I try to do step 7 (flash kernel and Baseband) Using Flashtool, Im unable to enter to the mode; when the windows prompts me, I turn off the phone, press and hold Vol up connect the USB but nothing happens, only the Sony Logo and then the icon of charging battery, I also tried to turn off the phone while holding Power button + Vol up (at the same time) and get the 3 vibrations, but the same result when I connect, the logo and the charging animations/icon..( no LED of any color or anything)
Im using the latest Flashtool version (0.9.9.0) with the drivers intalled (even though Windows security constantly pestered me about not being able to identify the source and signture) on Windows 7 64 bits..
Thank you..
U can't use fastboot with locked bootloader
U need to unlock your bootloader first then u can flash kernels
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Yes, that I did know but the author of the ROOM doesn't have it unlocked either. Besides even if that, I'm still Unable to enter the mode, or is it because I uncheck "exclude kernel" that it doesn't enter the mode?

Hello, I have Xperia neo - Vodafone and im having some troubles with fastboot mode.
I cannot put my phone on this mode:
I tried in windows, with some various drivers, none worked, i never got the blue light, always green.
I tried in linux, same result.
Is not a driver problem, i think, i can get fastboot working with htc desire pretty easy.
I have read some post and some people say some xperia neo cant put fastboot mode:
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/which-phones
So i could flash with other ROMs my phone with some flash utily, my doubt is: If this program can flash with other rom my phone, how it works? this program uses a self terminal and run this commands??? how it does???
Any idea how to unblock my fastboot???
Thanks alot.
Ehhm, you know that you have to hold the LEFT! hardware button?
1. Battry out
2. Press the left button and hold it
3. Battery in
4. Plug USB Kabel in
5. Blue light turns on
what left hardware button?
you are asking if i am pressing menu button(which is the RIGHT one of the 3 buttons) to enable fast boot????
-Yes, i am pressing the menu button while connecting the phone to the computer, also tryed your steps with the battery.
Yeah, you must press the LEFT Button, not the RIGHT one!
Right Button = Recovery Menu
Home Button = nothing
Left Button = Fastboot Mode
LEFT button for flashtool (green LED)
RIGHT buttor for fastboot or ADB. (blue LED)
IF dont work try reinstall drivers, safemode PC, another Pc.

Tryied with some OS in the same pc, tryied with other mobile(htc desire) and worked , so i think inst a drivers problem. I think its more likely the fastboot its disabled or something.

I think they are the same drivers, anyways i reinstalled a few times, and in ubuntu doesnt need drivers(same for the htc desire)
Fastboot won't work here either
I'm not being able to fastboot either.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted my Xperia Neo, as described in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194823
It had 2.3.3 when i ran that process. After that i already upgraded OTA and right now it has 2.3.4. The phone is still rooted.
Right now, no matter what i try i cannot boot into fastboot mode. I have tried several drivers, i have tried on windows and i have tried on linux. I even tried using Xperia Reboot app but the result was the same. It either boots regularly or it boots into "charging mode" and all i get is the green light.
Please advise.
Thank you in advance.
hmonteiro, just the problem i have.
I also have 2.3.4 rooted.
I think it comes blocked by default and we need to unblock the fastboot mode, dont know how....

What differents is ADB and FASTBOOT?
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
After reading a few scattered posts, i'm starting to believe the reason it's not working is because my phone is network locked.
Does anyone know if it's possible to unlock the bootloader of a network locked Neo, after removing the network lock?
if u find something please say here hmonteiro!
Obrigado!!
In order to get fastboot working you need to remove the SIM lock first. I was able to do it with the service provided by Alejandrissimo
Although a but tricky to maintain the tespoint connected, it went smoothly and Alejandrissimo was there all the way.
I have not yet installed anything but i can confirm that the fastboot program now sees the device and i do get the blue light right after plugging the phone to the computer.
Hope it turns out ok for you too!
Thanks monteiro!!!!, will follow that way, will tell you if i get it working.
Try to use omnius, google it. Then you have both ready, sim unlock and bootloader.
For sure and for 15 euros.
how to open fastboot application? it keeps blinking.
I'm trying to unlock the boot loader of my Xperia U. But I'm having some troubles...
When I try to enter fastboot mode (pressing Vol Up + plugging the data cable in), I get a blue light (as supposed to) and on the Device Manager appears "S1Boot Fastboot", but my device doesn't stay on fastboot mode...
The blue light turns off and the "S1Boot Fastboot" device on the Device Manager disappears... This happens after 3 seconds after I plug the data cable in... and the phone enters in charging mode...
Is this a hardware problem? Or am I doing something wrong?

How can I point to something that is not there (on device manager)?
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
Try re-installing the drivers after removing them and restarting your PC.
- If possible try to connect to a different system altogether so as to confirm if this error is not specific to your system.
Cheers !

First, I'm sorry for the wrong section, cooleagle. Will be more careful next time.
I already have flashtool installed, and I already installed the drivers within it. What left for me is try to connect to another computer.
For me seems to be a hardware problem at first, not a software.. but I will try your suggestions.
BTW, on flashboot mode it stays.
As soon as the s1boot pops up in device manager right click and select update drivers. Normally Windows automatically installed the drivers provided it is connected to internet
Tapatalked !
Fastboot driver is the android_winusb.inf file, right? I point to that, but Windows tells me it could not find the propper driver...
The thing is: no matter how fast I am on pointing to this driver, the device always vanish first on Device Manager... Is this normal?
Did the same for me when i tried the first time but i was able to update the drivers just before it disappeared. Also one thing that happens on my phone is if i keep the volume button pressed for long it reboots, if i leave the button as soon as the blue light comes up it stays.

i was quite ignorant when i did a full wipe of my xperia p.the only thing in my phone left was kernel,it boot until sony logo and i could not find solution to switch it off so as to enter flashboot mode.....then i found how to resart(power off ) device that battery cannot be removed. just hold the switch off button and volume + until the phone vibrate 3 times. then you could enter flashboot/flashmode by holding the volume + / or vol - while connecting the usb....i still had problem where error appear during flashing and phone resarting....i install gordon gate flash driver on my pc....and the key for a sucessful flashing of my device was when i was flashing for 1 second i notice that a screen appear on flashtoll asking to enter flashboot mode again it so i quickly removed usd cable hold the power off and volume + button until 3 vibration and hold the vol + button while connecting the usd cable it work.
to resume you must install ggf driver and have to enter flashboot twice during flashing
Hello!
I have an issue with my Neo V. I want to change kernel, but the phone won`t go into fastboot mode (phone off, press and hold menu, plug USB). Strange thing is, that it worked before (I`ve done this procedure several times). What actually happens after plugging the phone into the computer is not continous bue led light, but one short blip of blue and then orange (charging). I tried X-parts, doesn`t work either. I can ge to CWM without any issues, but fastboot? Nope kid, not this time.
My gear:
Phone: Xperia Neo V, CM10, kernel Fusion 2.6.32.60
PC: Lenovo Z500 Win8 64bit
PS. Yes, I changed kernel on this PC before, no problems at all. I read in other thread that you can`t enter fastboot mode if your phone is carrier locked- well, frankly, I don`t know if my device is locked or not, but, if it is, than why was I able to enter fastboot before? Thank God it`s actually really difficult to brick android, otherwise I`d have my phone broken a long ago I guess

U must be having flashtool. If u don't,, GET IT!
in flashtool . U will see a big Lightning icon on the top left. click it.
a window will appear saying'mode selector'.
in ur case . select fastboot mode and click 'ok'
Try 2 options-
1.'Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)'
2.'Reboot into fastboot mde (via fastboot)'
then click 'Select Kernel to flash'
select the kernel file(the filename will end with a '.IMG' extension)
then continue...
please hit 'thanks' if i helped!
Made it work by myself. Appareantly, the usb cable was the problem, however, I am not so sure, if I didn`t try the process with this one (working) before. Anyway, a huge relief.
Thanks for the tip with flashtool, I knew abut this program (and used it a couple of times), but in my situation it wouldn`t change anythng (same story as my idea with rebooting to fastboot mode via X-parts).

You don't need whole flashtool. You just need adb and fastboot, eventualy drivers if running win.
Then just do in fastboot mode
$ fastboot flash boot boot.img
Or whatever the file name is.
Yes, I have sometimes that problem too. So, I am planning to get a new usb cable.

Well let me clear the air out of that topic. Yes I have unlocked the bootloader. I've even installed CyanogenMod.
When ever I use any kernel installing software like Flashtool or Kernel Installer, the computer fails to detect my phone under Fastboot mode!
When I use Flashtool to slip into Fastboot mode using ADB, the phone simply reboots, where as when I use Kernal Installer where I manually need to put the phone is Fastboot mode, the blue light turns ON as it is supposed to be.
To avoid further doubts, tell me tell you that I have updated my ADB drivers and also Flashtool drivers!

No, nothing of that sort.
I connect it, my PC detects my phone (I'm an engineer, I know that it is detected, so no queries there please).
The problem is only I try to Fastboot mode.
Phone restarts when trying to put into Fastboot mode using Flashtool, and "waiting for device" is the message displayed when trying it with Kernel Installer.

I'm still running with 6.1.1.B.1.10...

Okay, I'm trying for some time now to root my phone. First time I did it did not work at all, but something changed on my phone, the PC does not recognize it anymore, I mean, if I plug it in, it says "ST27i device connected" but when I try to update to the new firmware 6.2.A.1.100 that I have to follow some steps (unplug USB from PC -> charge the phone battery to 50% -> turn off phone and wait 5s -> hold volume down and power key while plugging the usb cable) at that point (bold text) the phone is not recognized by the PC and therefore does not update. I'm still running with 6.1.1.B.1.10...

Did you unlock your bootloader at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com? If you did, pc companion WONT recognise your device. Try looking around on how to relock your bootloader. I am not too sure. If you did not unlock, i am not really sure on what to do I have never unlocked my bootloader as i know the dangers of it.
Try asking the more senior members.

Hmm, no I did not unlock the bootloader, all I did was follow this guide to root my phone. Which the rooting was unsuccessful.
After that, I could not flash any other ftf files (not even update the firmware through PC Companion) because my computer was not recognizing my phone in flash mode, when I connect it turned on the pc recognizes it, but in flash mode it doesnt....

Open the latest flashtool and select flashmode and browse for desired ftf file with out connecting ur device to ur system/laptop,...
After when when flash tool asks u to connect ur mobile den connect with volume down while plugging USB....
this surely works bcz it worked for me
Flashtool is not PC suite. Search the xda for that.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't very clear. My PC does NOT recognize my Xperia Go in flash mode (which is the volumedown + powerbutton), not with PC Companion, not with flashtool, not at all, therefore I cannot flash anything, or even update my firmwares.

I don't really understand what went wrong in the rooting process. Apparently it all went fine, the rooting tool said the device was rooted, but when I install apps that need rooting and should ask for root permission, none permissions are asked. Also another proof the my phone is not rooted is that when I use my phone's screen on my PC I can not press any buttons or write any text messages (as I read, I could only do that if my phone was rooted). And like I said, after that, my phone is not recognized by the PC in flash mode, so I cannot flash kernels, firmwares, nor can I update my firmwares using PC Companion.

Yeah I know, what I said about the PC Companion is that it can no longer update my firmwares because my PC can no longer recognize my device in flash mode. And I used the flashtool to flash an older firmware, so I could root my phone, following the guide, which I refer on my question.

I tried to root it, and did almost everything to turn back to the original OS, but cant find any resolve..
The recovery mode is the CWM.. what should i do? Do i need new data?..
Please someone, HELP!!
Any help please??
I'm sorry for you. I think at this moment, you have to wait since this tablet is too new.

Even the "helpers" seem to have no clue...
Bagiz, you must hard-reset the device and flash a FTF. Then it will work again.
How this is done has been mentioned numerous times on xda and elsewhere on the net, no need to repeat it again and again for each brickflasher.

I tried to flash with FTF file via Flashtool, the flash seem like nor reconize my device.. in the log is "device is disconnected"
I saw somebody in youtube revive his phone via CMD with 3 .img files: boot, recovery and system (i think)
But i cant find such files in the net for my tablet..
*rolling eyes* You must first start the tablet in flash mode (turn off, Vol down, then connect USB, then LED should be blue)...

Are you using the right flashtool? this one:
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
And ftf files are flashed in flashmode. Same steps as fastboot, but with volume down instead.
You must also install drivers for the tablet on your Windows PC... *twiddling thumbs*...
Ok thanks ill try it when i come home
