First, I have searched both here and Google regarding my question but all I’ve turned up are problems with WiFi connections (which I don’t have – my connection is always solid) and reported problems about 8 months ago with payments in general (my problems are with WiFi only).
My problem is that any time I try to purchase an app on Android Market (and now Google Play) using WiFi, the app hangs at the point where it’s trying to authorize payment. It just sits there no matter how long I wait (well… at least 10 minutes or so). If I switch over to the home screen, turn off WiFi so 4G comes back up and then switch back to Android Market/Google Play, payment goes through properly. Once the download starts I can switch back to WiFi and the app will download without issue. This happened several times when I was straight stock using Android Market, at least once when I switched to NRG’s ROM using Android market, and again this morning with Google Play; it isn’t just the new Google Play app.
I wanted to ask whether anyone else has experienced this and whether you found any reason for it or a solution to it. This isn’t the end of the world but it would be nice to have it working correctly so I don’t have to mess around with the connection while trying to download a large app.
Thanks!

I was having issues last night buying app from google play, was getting error 403. then this morning I bought another and it went through and I was like wtf!
I refunded the three apps that didn't go through then re bought them and they downloaded perfectly.. lol
not sure if that is the issue you're having but take a look at this thread:http://www.google.com/support/forum...ad?fid=4627bf187632930e0004babe8be00aa0&hl=en

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately my issue is different. I never got an error of any kind, it just sat there trying to authorize payment until I switched from WiFi back to 4G, then it went through without issue. Afterword, I could download the app on WiFi just fine.
Thanks again.
My payments for apps only work over 4g
well I can confirm it isn't using wifi, it COULD be your router or firewall, or some other settings. I can confirm it because I don't have a data plan, I use wifi for everything and I have bought apps through it.

That's a statement, not a question!
If you need some help, more information is going to be needed. I presume from your statement that you are unable to download any applications from the Market over WiFi?
If that's the case:
1. Does it work over the cellular network?
2. What precisely happens over WiFi?
Regards,
Dave
I noticed this same issue today as well. Over the cellular network or wifi, i can't download or update apps. When I check on the status of the app after trying to download it, it just says it's downloading with no end in sight. I can use the browser, check email, update weather, etc... but, the market is 'useless'. I'm running a stock hero.
it works over wifi but takes ages to start, sometimes it starts inmidiatly and sometime it takes a while. i'm not sure where the problem is. but maybe this will be fixed with the new market.
Try starting Google Talk to see if this causes the downloads to start - I've heard of numerous cases where this has "cured" the problem, presumably because some of the GTalk components are common to the Market. It may help, it may not, but it is worth a try.
Regards,
Dave
I know this isn't an option for some, but I just decided to flash the modaco 2.2 rom and market is working fine. I did notice my LEDs were not working today so that kind of pushed me to flash the rom again. I kept the original radio (updating the radio to the latest a couple weeks ago meant I couldn't use my data connection :S) and it's working fine.

had/have this problem also sometimes, my solution is quite simple. jsut reboot the phone, and everything works fina and normally
I picked up my Atrix today and everything has been going great except for one thing. Sometimes when I launch the Market place and move beyond the first screen it will give me an error message about network connectivity. I have to leave the market place and turn wifi off and then back on before the marketplace will allow me to move beyond the first page. Wifi seems to be working for everything else while it is not working for the market place. Normally I would just uninstall/reinstall an app that was doing this, but since it is the market place, that may be more difficult (i'm not sure, this is my first Android phone).
As of now it is not rooted and I have tweaked no power/wireless settings except to add my wifi info. I would appreciate any ideas.
Since there is no Brilliant Corners 1.2 thread anymore I will have to post here.
Market started acting funny to night. A app would start to download and the blue download arrow would show it was
downloading but nothing was coming through. I did a search and saw some suggestions on about starting Google Talk
and that would fix it but, I do not have Google Talk. Early on in my experiment with the tablet I thought I would never
call anyone with the G- Tab so I deleted it, and don' t know if that it was okay to do that but it is done. Anyway, I read
about doing the original. Market fix. I did this but, now all I get is "server error Retry", I also waited for WiFi to connect.
I have rebooted 3 times with the same results. Any suggestions?
try manually installing the newest version of the android market. You can download from here. http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...te-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/
Installed the latest version of Market (3.3.11) and got the same results. Did the "Market Fix " twice and still get the same results. Could it possibly be because I am on a 3G ad - hoc network? I do not have "download by WiFi only" enabled in the options. Market does notify me of the apps that need updating.
Found the problem. In Droidwall some of the necessary components for Market to work were not on the White List. Being on vacation and using a prepaid 3g broadband card with a cap I was over zealous in what I allowed access to the Internet. I learned a good lession.
I was out checking out marina's for my boat yesterday... I was actually surprised.... google maps didn't need ANY data connection at all (they all were in the same town) to accomplish this task, I even used "navigation" while doing this and never had to connect at all, seems like google maps/navigation must download all the maps for your area the first time you connect??
Anyway, I'm on the OTA honey comb and what I noticed is that the GPS would find my location, zero it in on the map and almost go to sleep? I was driving down the road and it'd find my location......the arrow would freeze then the gps ICON would start searching for a lock and it'd grab my location about 15 seconds later.
It did this over and over. Never being able to hold on to my location, just grabbing it, losing the lock and trying to find it again.
Does LeeDroid fix this problem?
Didn't fix it on mine... Of course, ymmv

My phone (htc Inc2 running mt4g rom) did this last week. I think it has more to do with the quality of the GPS signal. Try the rapid GPS lock fix posted in the flyer forums.

On all the HC ROMs, GPS works but not fully. It will pick up an initial fix , work for a about 30 seconds, then reset and may or may not fix again. Its fine if you just need to know current location, but not good if you try to use navigation.
No one has come up with a bug fix yet. The rapid fix helps, but may not fully solve your problem.
Yeah I had the same issue. Wonder if a third party navigation app might fix the issue

It may have been that the cached local map data was just not bumped out of memory yet, and you didn't travel outside that initially cached area. You can do this to some degree on any device with Google Maps, AFAIK. You just have to be careful not to open too many apps and whatnot.
yes, hc needs upgrades for gps, something in the system makes it crash after a minute. possibly an upcoming small ota from htc to fix this?
Hello there, I currently encounter a very annoying problem with Google Play, of which solution is nowhere to be found:
1. Using stock ROM, Google Play becomes extremely slow and most of the time not working at all (Network error), while other applications still work well.
2. Everytime I factory reset, it works for about 5 minutes at reasonable speed, then the same problem occurs again.
3. Tried to reverse back to 4.1.1 but nothing changes.
4. Same problem with different WIFI networks and 3G.
5. Jelly Bam (haven't tried other ROMs yet but I believe they would) fixed the problem completely, but its lack of Samsung Apps and other amazing features (like Smart Stay, S Voice, S Note, ...) quickly made me reverse to stock ROM.
After trying every trick found on the internet (reinstall Google Play, clear the cache,...) with no success, and after two days struggling I am now completely exhausted defeated. My only hope is you guys who have had this problem before could help me fix it.
Thanks a trillion.
I recently had a lot of problem signing in, it turned out for some reason my WiFi and phone didn't want to play game with wpa2 but after changing router to just wpa and resetting all working again, I've seen intermittent reports along similar lines sporadically ever since s3 release
Did you try using proxies?

No, because I haven't got the faintest idea about that kind of gobbledegook as you well know

Yes, I did, soneone suggested 0.0.0.0:8080 but that blocks internet connection to all other applications.
I've discovered that uninstalling Google Play updates will help, but only for 5 minutes or so. After which time the problem persists again.
Now my only solution is to uninstall Google Play updates, (then the app will ask for updating at first run), install some apps as quickly as possible before the connection goes down again. Basically I have to repeat that process every second app downloaded, and that drives me insane!!!

That's interesting but in my case even 3G won't work, and the madness is that Google Play works crazily well in custom ROMs like Jelly Bam and like sh*t in stock ROMs.

I feel the pain, took me 10 days to finally get mine working, I did everything you did multiple times, exact same scenario, uninstall updates, get a connection, next time I go back to it,bam, no connection, tried different Roms, flashed to stock, everything!
I had something similar.
What I did was adding a second Google account, deleting the first one, log in, adding the first account back, then deleting the second account, and log in again.
Works for me hoops it's working for you.
