[NEED] Network Browsing App - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Is there an application that allows you to connect the transformer to access a network drive at my work?
I can connect to the company's wireless, but is there a file browsing application that allows me to map the network drive as a folder on my tablet?

ES File Explorer lets you add a network location - Workgroup or domain share and its free on the market.

Thanks, ill try that app

In addition to ES File Explorer, Fing is pretty good at telling you what is on your network and helping to troubleshoot.

Fing is very good for scanning ports on running machines and has built in wake on lan as well. I highly recommend it!
For browsing SMB shares, ES File Explorer has been the best for me so far.

You could also try File Manager HD. It's free.

If its DNLA like ps3 media server or tversity, you can use BubbleUpnp

[Q] Access my Windows 7 network

This is probably a n00b question (which is appropriate since I'm a n00b . . .) but I have a home server running Win7. All my movies and photos and music are on it. I have no problems using USB to transfer media to my Streak (and to my awesome, dirt cheap Chinese tablet), but it would be great to be able to just connect to my network shares and copy the files over the WiFi. Is there an Android app that can do this? Paid apps OK.
If you just want to copy the files you can use ES File Explorer, SwiFTP, AndFTP, or you can turn your phone into a Samba server and mount your SD Card as a network share and use windows explorer to copy to your phone.
ES Explorer worked great getting to FTP server. Getting to a LAN computer required me to enter the LAN IP address as a "server" and also woked fine.

[Q] ES File Explorer- Edit/Save documents on tab and save to NAS or MAC

Anyone got any ideas for a office suite program that will allow saving edited documents to shared locations like NAS or my Mac?
Quick Office only allows saving to cloud services, which I don't want to use. Why? Because I have direct access to my NAS and MAC using ES File Explorer.
This seems to be limitation of quick office.
Can anyone suggest or advise a solution where I can use my tab to open documents on my Mac or NAS, edit them, then save them back to my Mac or NAS?

Thanks.
So far I'm having the same problem with saving documents edited on the tab to the MAC. They open with Quick Office. Great for viewing and editing, but there is no way to save the edited file back to the MAC.
File Explorer is for Honey Comb, this is nice - Here's some things I noticed while playing with both FE and ES FE-
Es Flie Explorer allows you to view all pictures from a folder on my MAC via thumbing right or left. File Explorer HD does not. You have to open and close each image to view it. Same thing when accessing pictures on the tab using File Explorer, but it's not as big of a deal because you can always jump over to the Gallery app.
File Explorer allows me to 'share' files directly from my Mac. ES File explorer does not. You must first copy the file to the tab and then share it from the tab.
File Explorer allows me to open .RTF files in Quick Office no matter where the .RTF is located, on my Mac or on my Tab. ES File Explorer does not. It's odd file explorer is letting me open these in quick office. I can't open .RTF files at all when they are sent to me as an email attachment. Error message "sorry, no application found to view this attachment" is given.
Funny, I can't open the .RTF directly from Quick Office either.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

network shortcut

Does anyone know of an app that can intergrate my nas drive. I would like a shortcut to my videos on a networked drive? I have es file explorer and can browse to my videos but I would like to do this with one click.
I am sorry but there are no tablet optimized apps that are able to access network shares.
ES File explorer is the only app able to access shares but is very crude to use on a tablet since its designed for phones. You can not create shortcuts with it.
Mount the drive on your tab using cifs manager, and then use any file manager. (File manager HD is the best on a tablet. )

Thanks for that. One small problem. There are no instructions on how to mount a drive. I know the IP address and that is all I need on es file explorer. What is the mount point, user and password?

False. FileManager HD is tablet optimized and allows you to access network shares: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm.hd&feature=search_result
FYI everyone ignore ArtificialSweetner. this is the user previously known as 5thElement. He was banned so he created a new account with this name.

Sure there is. File Manager HD does this. That's how I get movies from my PC to my Tab.

Will ICS have common computer functions like network file sharing built-in?

I figured my Xbox 360 can share files with my PC, this $500 tablet should be able to do this natively.
Looks like for now I'm going to have to download and install File Manager HD.
Go to Asus.com then support search for the prime then download the pc suite. Now you can transfer over wifi

I take it the Prime can't see samba/NFS shares? Spose I'll have to get PS3mediaserver running on my server again

That actually didn't lead me to the ability to do network file sharing, but it did lead me to a very effective remote desktop app called Splashtop.
try andsmb from the market. it has most of the functionality you seem to be looking for.

Sorry to tell you but this is actually what Android itself is all about...
Flexibility and exentsibility
The app you are using doesn't have feature xyz? Well go to market and search for one that does have that feature
I know this can be kinda bad sometimes but it's the best thing of Android. You can replace almost everything.
And btw, the AUSUS file manager is way cooler than most 3rd party ones. Not concerning the functions it offers but concerning the design.
I haven't found any other manager that looks nearly as good as ASUS' one....
es file explorer can also access files over your network. Not quite the same as file sharing back and forth, but it does half of what you want!
I'd honestly prefer dropbox for smaller files. I've got a ton of referrals so I have 20gb of space so that's plenty to upload/download whatever I need in either direction.

Look for CIFS and Samba on the market. Most solutions require root though. I personally use CIFS manager (on rooted device). Without root there are a few file managers and players than can open files from samba shares.
Look for "File manager HD" on the market. Its free and theres no setup required on the PC side.
Just share a folder like you normally would and your prime can easily access (and bookmark!) it.
I use it to access my 6tb TVshow server, plays everything directly from it.

Just got cifs working on my prime with ics with the kind work done by folks here, using the the cifs.ko and md4.ko module here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442928
Being a noob, I just couldn't work out how to push them to the prime, but managed it fine once I set up ES file explorer to do all the root work. Got a useful tip on a page somewhere's there before I got cifsmanager working, about loading both modules on the one line in the the cifsmanager settings

by ftp, wifi ftp, the free blue one on market
but i prefer http, total commander + wifi plugin - upload/download from any browser on any device
Install Bitvise SSH server to your PC and to android device put some filemanager like ES File Exploder there is simple TFTP, and you have secure link between devices, and you can access your PC thru internet.
