Is there a way to set up a contact that will send multiple emails. On the iphone I had a contact set up as [email protected];[email protected] and it would send to both emails, but on the photon it only sends to the first email not the second. Is there a way to do this with the photon? I know I can set up a group, but how do I get the group to show up in the email program. Normally when I send email i open up the email program start typing say receipts then it shows my contact I just click on, but when I set up a group I can't access it from the email program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try using a comma ", " instead of the semicolon ";"

I just tried that too and it didn't work either.

Try do it like this, notice the spaces before and after the comma. Just tossing ideas out, u don't know why it's not working for you.

I have text messaging with my Rogers ATT Canada account. I can receive emails ok, if they are addressed to the address [email protected], but when I try to send, i keep getting a bounce back saying "when sending e-mail via sms, the first word must be an email address". This is exactly what I am doing. I make the "to:" address 10 zeros, then put in a subject, and in the main body, I first type an email address, then a space, then the message, and it always bounces back. anyone know why?
thanks,
Peter
ok, i figured it out
turns out to send email via sms, you cannot put anything in the subject line provided by the xda messaging interface. my sms server needs the message to be formatted as follows.
in the "To:" field, enter ten 0's (which is what I had been doing)
the very next thing the sms server needs to see is an email address. so, if you enter a subject in the subject line, it will view that as the intended recipient's email address, and bounce it back. Unless, of course, you put an email address in the subject line.
so, there you go.
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm using my X10's Gmail client for all my emails, but one problem which I have is that when I receive email, the name of the sender is not displayed, only the email address. This means having to memorise people's email addresses in order to determine who sent it exactly.
I know definitely that I have names in my address book, when I go to compose the name is there perfectly. But it doesn't show up on received mail. Any way to fix this? This is for ALL of my email, not just a few.
Thanks for any help.

Strange, works fine for me in that it does display the name and can't find any settings to change it so it doesn't.

Thanks for your attempt anyway. Its a really strange issue, I swear it used to work before.
I just noticed that I'm facing the same issue on my desktop Gmail too... Perhaps I've set something wrong with desktop Gmail?
EDIT: Actually I just realised: http://ask.metafilter.com/140633/Can-I-change-a-senders-display-name-in-Gmail
It looks like Gmail doesn't cross-reference back to contacts. That's terrible in my opinion, as I'm using my phone here in Japan, where everyone has incomprehensible emails, and they don't change their "From:" tag, making things a real pain.
Ok guys, I have looked far and low for this answer and tried numerous apps to see if that was the answer but they all give me the same result...
In any email client I use with my Dell Streak, I have to manually add the email of the person I want to send it to in the "To" bar... I can't believe I have to do that.
Is there not an app or some setting that I am missing to where I can pull up the contacts' info and automatically insert into the "To" field instead of having to manually type that person's email.
I know I can go to the contact in my contact list and select to send that address an email or an SMS or whatever I want to do, but what if I want to compose an email and send it to several people, I have to manually enter each address...
Please tell me there is a work around or something that I am missing guys and not doing correctly...
Thanks for all your help in advance!
The stock DELL mail widget does all this. You start typing the contact in the compose mail screen and their email pops up, select it and it stays in the TO: bar followed by a comma and you can continue adding recipients.
Thanks for the reply eSZee.
Yes I know that the stock android email and/or gmail client is supposed to do this, I have an HTC Inspire 4G that does it just fine after a couple of letters are typed in, but my Streak doesn't do it at all, that's what has me stumped and there's no one close to me for me to compare with, that's why I finally broke down and posted.
I'm running Streakdown 1.9, 318 BB if it matters. Been like that since. I haven't used the stock froyo except to bring my Streak back from a bricked state, and I really don't wanna have to go through the trouble of using the QDL to get back to stock froyo and then have to go through the trouble of flashing the streakmod again, but it may be my only alternative....
But if there's not a setting for this it may just be what I have to do if no other solution arises
I just swtiched to CM11 on my Nexus 5. In google hangouts the text messaging doesnt seem to be behaving the same now. Problem i am having is with group messages. I send text to 4 or 5 people at once but their responses all come back in separate messages to me. they look like they are just to me but it seems from responses that they are to everyone in group. It didnt do this before. If i sent messages to group, all their responses came back in the same message thread. if i had seperate message to someone it was in its own thread. please help because this is very annoying. there has to be a setting or something that got switched
I think using google hangouts its meant for that to happen if I am correct. If your sending a text it sends to individually but if you send a hangout messages thats a group message.

It definitely wasn't doing this before. Send a group message and it wouldn't seperate into individual messages. It absolutely shouldn't be sending me a message that looks like it's from one person and only going to me but actually is going to a group.

Bump. Having the same issue. Did you fix the problem?
I am playing about with Hangouts, nd have set it as my default SMS app.
I have a group contact on my phone called "Team". I would like to send a message to everyone in Team through Hangouts. However it doesn't appear in the contact list?
I was able to do this with stock app.
Running CM11.

You can try to add them to a Google + circle and then you can group message them.
Every Android user is having a Google account so it would be easy to just hangout a circle.

Ok I was able to add everyone to a circle called "Team". BUT not everyone is an android user, I had to add some people via email address.
When I open Hangouts and try to send a SMS to this circle, it is creating a hangout. It doesn't appear to be using SMS? There is no "SMS" in the bottom left of the screen beside where you type your message. How do I know if it will text everyone?
