Shadowgun for 50 cents - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Playing this game on this screen is AWSOME! I wish the CPU was faster, but the game still plays smooth, I can't wait for the note 2 I'm a 5.3" screen guy for life... lol

GTA Vice City on Nexus 10

Hey guys GTA vice city is on android
Yet not available on play store!
But here is a video
I've been trying it, since i couldn't wait for official release (i'll buy it if i like it as soon as it is avaliable),
100% resolution, max details gets quite laggy when rainning. I've tried 80% resolution, high detail, and it keeps lagging. Maybe its because my ****ty version, thats what it is. And moreover,i though graphics would be way better. The textures are worse than Counter Strike, a 1999 pc game.
Thread closed for warez links. Let's wait until it's released on the Play Store to have a discussion about the gameplay on XDA.
Now available on play!
Smooth like butter.

That just makes me think I got a faulty device more. My battery life sucks, too. So, is there any benchmark app for Nexus 10 that I can use to make sure?

Hmm, on GTA III, anything above 50% was a noticeable FPS drop, with 100% being the worst FPS drop. It was consistently low FPS though, which some people might of been able to stand (I couldn't lol). Not sure if that's the same case with Vice City or not though, but I have a feeling it will be.

Actually Vice City runs much better than GTA III on the Nexus 10, for whatever reason .
Here's a video review of Vice City on the N10:

Check out this guys channel for excellent hands on Nexus 10 reviews and comparison as well. He compares it to the iPad 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, and Transformer Prime in almost every facet imagineable. Web browsing, general speed, gaming, hardware design, screen resolution and brightness, boot up time, camera tests, hdmi out, etc.. etc... Probably the most thorough and unbiased reviews of the Nexus 10 out there.

No just got an ota cable and it works out the box
Runs great on my N10 at the highest settings. A lot better than on my one x which has a much smaller screen!

Any GTA Vice City players here?

Any of you downloaded GTA VC on your Galaxy Tab yet? I won't lie... This game runs pretty damn impressively for a ****ty Tegra 2 CPU. Outperforms every device I have, even my HTC Sensation and iPad 2. I get lag here and there but it seems to be something like a memory buildup since it comes with a short freeze and pure smoothness. Nonetheless, the game is super smooth overall. Why can't all games be like this? D:
How's your performance with it been?
It runs fine. Only lag I get is when it loads a chunk of buildings when going to another island.
Honestly I don't even get that. It stays smooth even then. My lag comes from explosion, driving uphill in rain, or the fake trees. I have the resolution set to 90 and the draw distance to 85. I could put it higher but the tablet gets super hot as it is, and sometimes apps force close on me when the tablet is too hot (the app causing the heat).

CPU temps?

Im getting temps of about 95F when I play real racing 3. Feels pretty warm up top. What is everyone else seeing when playing games like that? Im using stock frequencies.

95F is nothing. My phone does get hot but I've had phones hit 110F. My rezound would always hit 110 and got far hotter than this phone.

Makes since, since you are playing a video graphics intensive game and the Note II came a a mediocre GPU. Nothing to worry about because the Note II is more than capable of playing modern graphic intensive games.

Testing Game Compatibility/Playability

When I first got my Nook HD+ I wasn't sure which games would run well. I finally sat down to try out all the games I had acquired on my various gmail accounts.
Caveats - I did not (usually) play the entire game. Mostly I was just running through the first 15 minutes to test basic compatibility. "Runs well" only means that I did not notice any performance problems, it is not a guarantee that you will enjoy the game play mechanics.
3D Bowling - Runs Well
Age of Zombies - Runs Well
Angry Birds - Runs Well
Angry Birds Space - Runs Well
Anomaly Korea - Runs Well. I think there may be some framerate dropping during heavy fighting in later levels, but I do not remember it degrading my enjoyment of the game, which I did play all the way through and enjoyed.
Apparatus - Runs well
Asphalt 7 - Runs with slow frame rates, long load times, controls seem laggy
Air Attack HD - Runs Well
Broken Sword - Runs Well
Chess by AI Factory - Runs Well
Cordy - Runs Well. Good platforming game.
Cut The Rope Experiments - Runs Well
Deadtrigger - Runs well
Doodle Jump - Runs well
Dungeon Defenders Second Wave - Runs well. Controls seemed difficult at times.
Epic Citadel - Not a game, but a cool tech demo that runs well.
FieldRunners HD - Can't access bottom row of game grid to drop armaments, which is a shame. I played through most of this title on my old Atrix 4G.
Flick Soccor - Runs Well
Grand Theft Auto 3 - The options allow you to decrease the draw distance and "resolution". The defaults work ok but scaling back on the quality will increase the framerate.
Great Little War Game - some loading lag, does not affect gameplay.
Gun Fu Stickman Edition - Runs Well
Guns 'n' Glory - Runs Well
Ionage - Runs well
Iron Man 3 - Lots of lag in menus. App crashed during action.
Landrule - a little laggy, but game plays ok
Minecraft PE - Runs Well
Mini Motor Racing - Runs Well
Max Payne - Runs Well
MX Moto - Runs Well
Nun Attack - Runs Well
NOVA 3 - Campaign framerate seems a little low (in the 20s?), but is playable. Did not try multiplayer.
OnLive - This works, but I was only spectating, which still feels like living in the future.
Raging Thunder - Runs well. Graphics aren't fancy, but action seemed smooth.
Rebuild - Runs well. Turn based zombie strategy.
Roll in the Hole - slight delays on loading, but otherwise runs well
Samurai Vengeance - Runs Well
Sentinel 3 - Runs well. I've played this for hours and still enjoy it.
Shadowgun Deadzone - I didn't notice any framerate problems, but the on screen controls were difficult to use. This would be more fun with a gamepad.
Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery - Runs ok, some stutter in the music
Sympthony Of Eternity - Runs Well
Tank Riders - Runs Well
Word of Goo - Runs well
Vector - Runs Well
Zenonia - Runs well, controls were confusing
I was surprised that games like GTA3 and Max Payne were totally playable, but holding a tablet and using onscreen controls for an action game can get tiring. I mostly enjoyed things like tower defense where you can pause the action or not interact with the screen constantly. If I was going to play something like GTA I'd probably stick with my PS3 or PC for that.
Cheers,
Dave\Esotic
i don't think you ever have to worry about existing games not running well on the nook hd/hd+. BUT some compatibilty issues can arrise since the games have not been optimized with these devices (and for some reason games published by EA (dead space, mass effect) come up as "incompatible"). For example, Broken Sword 2 has a weird screen bug where the screen does not accept input where you're touching i.e. if you want to interact with an object you need to tap slightly above the icon which is annoying but the game is still playable. note that this only happens on the stock nook not custom roms. but i wasn't really surprised at how well anything ran since its running a pretty snazzy cpu/gpu. dead trigger runs on ultra settings just fine and when paired with a bluetooth controller (i.e. a wiimote or dualshock 3) it's a blast to play. playstation emulators worked great as did some of the newer ds ones. google needs to really just come out with an offical google play controller and include support right in the sdk.
I spent some time attempting to pair several different DualShock 3 controllers with my Nook HD+ and finally gave up. Is there anything special to get that working?
Thanks,
Dave\Esotic
Wanted to add that Asphalt 8: Airborne, Aliens vs Predator and Modern Combat 4 also run very well on this device, bot stock and cm 10.1.
Also a great cheap controller is the gamestop bluetooth controller. Picked it up at my local gamestop and it works with games like shadowgun and dead trigger. Pretty good deal for just $10. Just go to gamestop and search tablet controller and it'll pop up.
Ravensword runs like a champion for me. The intro lags buts that's a part of. Teaching you the game.

Best full screen games?

I just installed NOVA 3 for the first time in years and forced it to full screen- it's amazing. Works perfectly, no major UI glitches and the game play is soooooo smooth. The Note 8 doesn't even brack a sweat. Riptide Renegade is great and so is Asphalt Extreme. I play a TON of Titanfall Assault and it has some UI issues but the game play itself is just fine. Hopefully they'll update it to support the wide aspect ratio.
What games have you guys been playing in full screen?
A bit opposite to the OP, but I've been playing Xelorians (shumup with spen support) and having full screen off is great since the anchor for the spen is below the hitbox, i can get the ship to the very bottom of the screen with that extra black space there (on N7 the pen would run off the screeen and the ship stops a cm above the bottom) a few other games have been nice with the extra black space since it gives me a little space to hold the phone without accidentally touching a gameplay area...
