[Q] Ways to have the MOPHO boot quickly - Motorola Photon 4G

I have root access to my MOPHO and I even have some custom bootanimations and boot logos. But the only thing I have a issue with is that it takes a very long time to boot up at times. Probably close to 2 minutes sometimes. Anyone know how to have this go faster????????

I run my MoPho without a bootanimation for faster bootup time. Also check out autostarts from market so you can pick and choose what apps open at boot so it won't take as long.

If you flash cm7 it will, mine is usually sub 30 seconds

Non that I've noticed so far. The bootlogo screen takes just a few seconds more time than usual but no ill effects. When I boot up, it's usually about 20 secs total time till I'm able to use it.
MoPhoACTV Initiative

Oh, I don't know if it makes a difference although I think it may but I'm on Jokersax CM9 ICS. If your stock rooted or something like that it may still take a little longer than what I've posted.

boot speeds:
from quick to slow
1. cm7
2. cm9

mymodes bubbles removed .apks

Im not big on creating new threads but I noticed alot of threads asking about removing bubbles so I created some apks of mymode themes that have the bubbles removed. enjoy
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8756559/mymodes.zip
EDIT: Should mention I am using SlideMeRoot5r1. I haven't tested it on stock or other roms, but it should work.
ok I have included system themes now. just push these to /system/app/"themename".apk
example: go into recovery and in adb do: adb push C:\Android\Hoops.apk /system/app/Hoops.apk

Great stuff! Also works fine on a non-rooted phone. Is there anyway you can put something under the icon text? Those of us with light backgrounds have a tough time reading the text.
Any way you could do this for Nest? I mainly use that theme with different wallpaper. Awesome job btw.

Only issue I came across is that the preview images for these do not load in the mymodes app when you're changing the themes.
Also, randomly it froze up and kept trying to reload the home page but kept freezing and repeating. If this happens, just power down and back on.
It'd be great to see the other themes get this as well
Previews showed for me, I really like these as well.

my phone is not rooted.
I got the issue solved now.
This is just a warning for those with non rooted:
Your phone could freeze up from these modified theme files.
If they do, you will not be able to get past the mytouch slide startup screen.
If you get frozen you will have to do a long battery pull (i let me out for almost 7 hours, i'm sure its shorter, i just did it while i was as work), then boot into recovery mode. This shoot then boot to the red triangle/exclamation. pull battery again (short pull), power phone up to the boot manager and do a fastboot. Hopefully if anyone else goes thru this, it will help them. I wouldnt want to see anyone else freaking out like i was this morning.
Note:Hard reset wont fix this issue

[Bootanimation]--HACKERS the movie -- crash override bootup screen

I just put together a hackers boot animation based on crash overrides bootup screen from the movie hackers
I made it for my Rogers evo 3d so the zip is Rogers_bootanimation.zip
to use it in a custom rom just rename it Bootanimation.zip
I love this boot up and plan to add more animations to it.
UPDATE: Aug 31. now it loops infinitely
thanks

Where is it??
update
i forgot to upload the bootanimation so here it is
heres the sound to go with it
seeing this thread reminded me of that movie, havent seen it in a long time. gonna have to watch it now.
Request one .zip file (bootanimation+audio) in order to flash thru recovery. Tried to get it done before my computer completely crashed on me .
Preview please?
Is kool but you should make it so that it loops. After the initial boot it just stays static.

Oh my god. Lol
I lived this movie when I was younger. Not realistic at all. But I understood you can't show real hacking because it would be boring for movie goers.
I am totally flashing this! Awesome going man!
Actually, some of the stuff they did in that movie was possible only a few years prior.
Read this and see if it looks familiar.

Oh yeah. I know about that and the captain crunch whistlers 2600hz tone that triggered the tone the phone made when a coin was dropped. But by the time the movie came out that was well and fixed.
But I'm talking about "hacking the Gibson" and all that stuff. You know what I'm talking about. Lol

here's the latest update

Anyway to get a flashable .zip made up?
Is it also possible to make the sound louder? I could barely hear it when my phone booted up. Thanks!
Help
I'm not sure how to go about making a flashable zip. If anyone can direct me in the right direction I will do it up.

[Boot Animations] Custom Movie Themed for Photon (9/7/2011)

This will be my first foray into any sort of Andriod development and I will be starting with boot animations here with down animations to follow.
All animations will be tested on my handset prior to my posting, zipped with no compression, and installed to /system/media using Root Explorer, permissions set to rw-r-r.
If you experience flicker or any difficulties please let me know!
Please post requests for what you'd like to see!

As corny as this sounds, I'd like to have the Moto Bionic boot screen, with sound.
I've tried several times to make it on my own, but I can't get it to work.

I am unable to take credit for this, but if you go here you'll find what you're looking for.
anything chicago bears will be pretty damn sweet.
Could you modify the stock boot animation to just repeat the "pulse" animation that it starts with? I was trying to do this but I can't seem to pull it apart correctly and put it back together.
Regarding the stock animation, yes I should be able to do that. My apologies for not replying sooner as I've been on the road for business.

[Q] CM 7.1 Boot Animation

Hi folks,
Is there anyway we can change the boot animation in CM 7.1? ....with, lets say, this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973229
Thanks
Yes, push it to /system/media with root explorer.
If you like theming, I recommend switching to MIUI. It has most of the toys from CM7 along with the most robust theming available in a ROM. Only a couple clicks and you can download from a list of dozens and dozens of boot animations. Can also pick whatever sound you want to accompany that animation.

Thanks for your response .....How is GPS in MIUI? I have found all I need but GPS in CM 7.1. I'd rather wait until an update with working GPS come up rather than bouncing around....
GPS works fine CM7 and MIUI. It just requires an extra step or two.
The trick is that getting a lock takes longer, but once you get a lock you're usually fine. Use FasterFix to narrow down your location, then whenever you need navigation, run AngryGPS for anywhere from 60 seconds to 5 minutes before you run Google navigation.

[Q] Boot speed for your rom (Particularly peetr_'s)

I'm just curious what type of boot speed people are getting from their roms.
See I used a CM7 based rom for a long while, and it got great (re)boot speed, but I switched to peetr_'s for more stability (specifically the camera)
However, (these are not exact) his rom seems to take around 2 minutes to boot, its a bit frustrating, though not hugely, I'm just curious if something is wrong with my setup or maybe the files.
Feel free to post your boot speeds for any other roms too, just in case anyone has this question later.

All roms I've used (all of the Rom available) have had a 10-20 second boot time after the first boot. Have you an mods on your setup?

What type of mods are we talking about? If its like the ics theme flashed to peetrs rom, then yes (just today I might add so it can have nothing to do with the speed) other than that, nope.

Each stock based rom booting time is related to the number of installed apps. There is a feature, that checks all apps for libraries and maybe something else. I haven't found, how to turn off this feature.
Thanks for that info peetr, that would make perfect sense (I used a flash with no additional apps for about a day, the difference was quite clear)

Mine takes about a minute to get to the lock screen then an additional 10-15sec for rest of OS/launcher to load fully. I have Planter's ICS theme on top of Peetr_s v20 rom along with the bravia engine, beats audio, and holo locker installed. I also have about 50-60 apps installed but am not quite sure which ones need to be loaded in any way during start up. The bone stock v20 rom was much quicker though.

One question off the topic. you have mentioned that u have holo locker also installed do you have the issue of getting two lockscreens (i.e after unlocking the holo locker the default locker shows up) ?
My boot time is 35 seconds. Couldn't be prouder. This is JB 4.1.2 with a ton of apps/games. It's not meant to be optimized. It's just good. The other phone is my wife's, unmodified Electrify. Boots in 1 minute 54 seconds. This is the superior performance Motorola says is better than ICS. Because 2 minute boot times are cool, haha. (Actually 2 minutes ain't bad, they never need to be rebooted... 35 seconds is just so much better.)

when i first boot my phone it doesnt show up unless i let it sit at the lock screen for about 10 seconds. i'd imagine that this happens because it is in fact an app that needs to load before it will override the stock lock screen. now on the other hand if i have a security pattern that i am using to unlock the phone, the security screen THEN the holo locker would show up everytime. i simply disable my security pattern unless i'm going out for the night or something.
