DX and DX2 how compatible are the products? - Motorola Droid X2

http://www.amazon.com/OtterBox-Comm...H2/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1331344112&sr=8-15
This case is for the DX and im wondering if it would be fine on a Dx2? Ive heard that most products (e.g. battery and some docks) work on both.
Am I safe with this one?

Thanks, Ive already ordered it.

Take a look at the Trident cases..I have the Otterbox's put them back in the box, and now in storage..the hard buttons are even harder..the frame is to close to the screen, in portriat mode, the Q & P keys are difficult to reach..I now have the Trident Kraken2 Blue /Red on two of my DroidX2's and a Cyclops on one of my DroidX's and about to order a CyclopsII for my fourth phone..I'd be glad to post pictures here or email..The Trident's are without a doubt superior to the OutterBox's..they (Outterbox) may have a newer model that I haven't used..BUT even if they do..it would have to be a mimic/copy of anything Trident has..
Not a Trident salesperson here..just a loyal, honest customer..go here to look around.

Ive looked at a few Trident cases and they are no doubt rock solid in design, but I really dont like how they're shaped. Ive seen nothing but bulky ones. But Im sure there is some super sleek and smexy case that I might like. But before I do any of that, Ill have to give Otterbox its due attention.
Thanks for the link!

I second this. I have a Kraken Trident case on my Droid X2, and it's nothing short of incredible.

Well I'm on the fence about Trident cases right now. My lady had one for her Galaxy S and I personally thought it was a little flimsy, especially for the $30 she paid for it. The only thing I like about it was the built in screen protector.
I hate big bulky looking cases so I usually go for an extra thick rubber one. I was looking at their PERSEUS case for my X2 and it looked cheesy with those huge face buttons on it. So I went with the Otterbox Impact case instead.

I just bought the Trident Aegis from Amazon $9 otd. Can't wait for delivery. Have the OtterBox Commuter & don't like the fit at all. I was very pro OtterBox, loved it on my Eris. But the OtterBox for the X/X2 is a sad design.
Amazon seller canceled the Aegis. So now I got a Black Motorola Droid X2 Incipio SILICRYLIC Hard Shell Case w/ Silicone Inner core.

... Try to do a full review of the aegis? The kraken/electra are the main top Trident cases around here, never even heard of the aegis yet (about to look into it)
~Edit ewww its the skinny version of the Electra, i totally prefer the original kraken if im not using a massive 3500-3800 mah battery. I like the kraken design way better

I kinda wish I would have looked more into the Kraken. The Otterbox on my X2 limits dragging from one homescreen to another and access to some of the keys.

I just got the Black Motorola Droid X2 Incipio SILICRYLIC Hard Shell Case w/ Silicone Inner core. I had the OtterBox Commuter case, sold it. Didn't like how the OtterBox fit, it was terrible, sad really. Had the commuter for my Eris & it rocked. Only thing about the Incipio so far is the stand is useless. Got it on fleabay $6. Highly recommend it. Oh & unlike the OtterBox & many other X2 cases it is strictly for the X2. No stupid X camera button.

OK, I'm not a fan. Its an OtterBox knockoff without the hard plastic case. But $9.00, you have nothing to loose!
Isn't it more like this one?
http://www.amazon.com/Technocel-Hol...QO/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1326241379&sr=8-12
For the price I'd go with Technocel over ebay's version. I actually have it and it's quite nice.
Believe it or not they are the SAME EXACT item. Technocel asks a manufacturer in China to make it, then they make it for Technocel, then sell some on eBay themselves. I ran into the same situation with the following:
this Amazon case
and
this eBay case
SAME THING!
I got it on eBay for $2.95 + free shipping.
BoxWave was going to sell it for $19.95 and a shipping charge. I bought it from eBay, while BoxWave was having a pre-sale. (It would be shipped when ready.) People actually paid $19.95 for it.
I emailed the company and told them and their response was "I'm glad you found a similar case."
I sent them the links, and they replied "It is the same, because of this, we will lower our price to $9.95", and they did, but I got the case before it came out in the US directly from the manufacturer at a cheaper price.

The issue I see with this case as well as the Technocel one is the fact neither provide much screen protection in the sense that if your Motorola Photon 4G falls either face down or bounces on the ground and ends up face down, your LCD more than likely will shatter. If I'm not sporting the Otterbox Defender Series case for mine, I'll carry my Motorola Photon 4G in a Trident Aegis Series one. True, the Aegis Series cases don't have a holster clip like the one you reference or the Technocel case/holster combo Mongofrye, but I find the Aegis case by itself is thin enough for keeping in my pocket.

At the same time, both cases provide a lip that protect the screen. At the same time, you have a Gorilla Glass Screen. Now, I love Trident, and I would have a Trident case for my Photon but I could not stand not having a landscape holster. So, that is the only reason why I choose the Defender...
Trident does have wonderful cases though!
Go for the Trident Aegis if you don't mind being without a holster, guys! Great Case!.
(I swear if another mod PM's me saying this is spam, I will never create a post or comment on an accessories post, ever again.)

i saw this one on amazon and figured it is like the one they sell at the sprint store. I like it because (minus the holster) it is very low profile.
I honestly like very basic protection. i hate adding tons of bulk to my phone. The one on Ebay looks different in the fact that it has a soft inside on the holster and the clip swivels in order to act like a stand. Could be used at a desk and you could flip it around to allow charging while in landscape mode.
Either way, i looked a little deeper into amazon and found i think the same one as the one you posted above for only $2.99 + .99 shipping. I went ahead and ordered it. I'll report back on quality.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L8APYQ/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details
In my opinion, the TPU cases provide probably the best protection with the least amount of bulk, but i just can't stand that there aren't cutouts over the volume and camera buttons. Such a pain. If anyone can find me one, i'll jump on it.
This is just another instance where the case is the EXACT same as the Technocel case listed above, and for this reason, I'm gonna go ahead and order it. Savingsss, oh, how I love savings!

I have the Defender also, but since we started this thread I have been thinking, I have no clue WHY I have the Defender vs. the Commuter? 99.9999999% of the time it's either in my hand or sitting on mouse pad so I can change music playlist? he**, even in grocery store its in my hand or the cart!! I see what you're sayin', bro. After using the defender for about 3 months straight, I get tired of it. I use another case for a few weeks then I switch back.

I'm liking the glossed white one w/kickstand myself. Is the kickstand pretty sturdy? Do you use any charger stands that allow this to slip in fine? Car mount?

anyway, thanks for posting the info on the otterbox.

I bought the gloss white one; very nice, and the kickstand is sturdy...
I don't have it any sort of dock, since I don't think there is a dock that will hold almost any phone inside its case..If you want to be able to dock your phone, it needs to be case-free..
I Don't use a mount in the car either.

Got my Otterbox Commuter today. I finally found a case I'm 100% happy with. I've tried the Seidio w/ Kickstand (silicone was lose and the kickstand felt cheap), the Samsung flip cover (didn't like the lack of protection for sides), a few TPU cases (they were ok), and the Speck Candyshell (like everyone said the back starts to scratch immediately).
The Otterbox is slightly larger than the Speck but not really noticeable. Case fits the phone like a glove. Silicone feels much better than the Seidio. S-pen is easily removable. Case feels much more protective than the TPU cases I tried. Hard plastic makes it easily removable from my pocket without the easily scratch-able plastic the Speck case had. So far I have not found a downside to the case. If you have used a Commuter case in the past you know what you are getting.
In addition for those that were wondering the Commuter comes with 2 screen protectors, 1 for the International version and 1 for the AT&T version. However, I can't comment on quality since my Boxwave Crystal is working fine.
Yep still digging the case! I dont know about you but the case does feel good in the hand

Otter Box Vs Trident ( For 911 EMT)

Hey everyone,
I recently swapped my rezound with the third cracked screen for a razr maxx.
Work is brutal to my phone and its seems that at any time it could be crushed by stretcher dropped on pavement left in a wrecked car etc etc.
I am only looking for one full time case and am torn between these trident cases
http://www.tridentcase.com/case/motorola/motorola-droid-razr.html
and the otter box
Has anyone used both?
Any input is welcome including other recommendations
Thank you
I have the Razr OG. I never looked at any other cases besides the Invincible shield but that is not a case but a military grade plastic that covers the whole phone. I am using the Outer Box Commander. That is a great case. It has a hard plastic cover with a screen protector in it and then rubber around the plastic. It makes the phone thick but it is protected. The belt click is great and stays on your belt. If you do not have it on your belt, it will fall off. I have had my phone in the clip on my belt and ran with it. It did not fall off or move. I also rode with it on my crotch rocket and it was fine too. It is $50 I think but well worth it. If you use the phone a lot, it does get warmer and faster. A lot of layers on the phone. That case would be the best for your job. I am going to school to me a diesel mechanic and I have had zero problems with it. I do take the phone out of the case and clean it. Remember, the more you take it out of the click, it will wear out. I have had the case since February.
Thank you.

Basic diference between these cases are the sdcard/micro sim access, wich is not present in otter cases for razr. At least not in the comutter case.
Both are very similar in build material and specs. So..
Cheers
I work 911 law enforcement, and just recently got a razr maxx after leaving my iphone 4.
For my iphone I had the otterbox defender case. That phone took a beating getting dropped, and slammed to the ground. Never cracked the phone or really put any scratches on it.
So if otterbox has a defender line for the razr, I would go with that.

I personally own the trident case "kracken" the advantage the otter has over this one is the quality of the belt clip with it, otherwise I feel trident case beats it in every other department.

I'm.stuck on which one i want. Like color choices on trident and the quality looks good besides the corners on trident not really protected that where phone mainly shatter if hit on corner and the belt clip looks bad on trident. I like fact that the SD card is accessible but how often do you change it. So my choice I think will be otterbox defender.

Buy the Trident and if you don't like it swap me for the Otterbox lol, I have a Otterbox Defender for my Maxx and it's just sitting around right now. I like it but don't need the bulk so it's just a added accessory
**Although it does look like those are Regular Razr cases and doesn't mention the Maxx, it is a little thicker so I'm not sure if the regular Razr cases would fit a Maxx right**
just bought the trident kraken its an excellent case doesnt feel cheap protects the screen also. i recommend it. i also like the fact the it has a metal replaceable kickstand and the many attachments that you can use with it like a tripod stand and the bicycle mount for the handle bar. All connectors are protected but accessible including the sd card and sim. Also,it looks bad ass with the carbon fiber finish on the back of the case.

They don't, the chick at the verizon store didn't realize she grabbed the standard razr commuter case and couldn't understand why the fit wasn't right, ended up having to get it off amazon as they didn't have any for the maxx so the defender series having the plastic on the inside definitely wouldn't work.
I've always used Otterbox and also work at a store that sells both. More people come back because their Trident case was either too bulky or broke.
Otterbox is a better choice imo
*edit*
I have a Commuter and Defender case for my RAZR and I mostly use the Defender because I display it at work by throwing it or something.
I too work in EMS as a paramedic. Not sure of the equivalency in the states? I have been at it for over teen years and I've not broken a phone yet. Definitely haven't left one in a car wreck. I'm getting my RAZR today (hopefully) and I have the ultra case by sgp. It only adds 2mm to the the phone and has complete coverage up to the screen. I haven't tested yet obviously, but just from holding and inspecting it I would say it's great quality.

Even EMT's have emergencies...
I still can't believe this happened so I thought I'd share my tale of woe with you guys. First off I just bought this phone and its the best Android phone I've had to date, its simply awesome! So here goes,I am an emergency medical technician an was on shift last night when it happened. Last night I was responding to an emergency at a stadium during a track meet,as we got closer I began to hear murmurs from the nearby crowd that it looks to be a cardiac related incident. So I don't normally recommend this but in this case the shortest distance between us and our patient was a small 5 foot high chain link fence. I decided it would be prudent to reach our apparently collapsed patient as soon as possible. So over I went, but during my steady yet determined climb over the fence to get to my patient something went bad. I heard as scary yet recognizable sound behind me. It was the all to familiar sound of something smacking the surface of the concrete. Something in me knew instantly what it was. As fear and hesitancy welled up inside of me,I turned my gaze if only to look for just a brief moment. It was then that my eyes fell upon my brand new,not 20 hours old razr maxxface first on the unforgiving pavement. It had apparently taken a dive at the apexof my climb. I quickly retrieved it, stuffed it into my pocket and went on with my business. It was only till after the emergency transpired that I removed it from my pocket to find that the screen was completely shattered! Something inside of me screamed and writhed in anguish,as the proverbial wave of disappointment settled over me.
So here I sit this morning preparing to fill out the claim affidavit to asurion. When all I keep thinking about is now i'm going to get stuck with a used phone in return,to bide me through the next 2 years of my recently renewed contact with Verizon.
It was a sad day....
P.s. The lesson learned here is buy a case immediately after buying a new phone.

I love my commuter case,as I keep my phone in my pocket, but for an EMT I would recommend the Defender case as it can be placed in the belt clip screen first creating a full "shell" around the phone saving the screen from those falls described by others above, the commuter looks like it would save the screen on falls onto flat surfaces, but give it some rocky conditions and I wouldn't expect it to.
Personally no case is more durable than seidio. Fit and finish. Snug. No looseness. I have seen countless otter box and trident cases and when I owned my evo, anyone that had a rugged case wanted that one. I actually would demo it by dropping it 3 feet directly on concrete. Many different times. I trusted it.

Don't fret. My screen cracked yesterday from a short fall. I had a simple gel case on it. Obviously not enough to protect it. Filled out the claim last night online, and received a brand new Razr Maxx this afternoon! - that's right... NEW! And in less than 24 hours! Based on a few comments/recommendations about my woes in the General Section "Gorilla Glass my A$$", I made sure to put an Otter Box Commuter on it as soon as it came out of the box.

I picked up an Otter Box commuter case right away too. Fantastic! Its light and makes the phone a little easier to hold. Got it for around $25 on amazon.

Side note if you paid more then like 35 bucks for an otterbox (defender or commuter) you overpaid and should return it and get your money back, then go to amazon and get one (I say this cause I saw someone say they paid 60 dollars for the defender case).
Just got my Maxx yesterday with the defender case (25% discount with corporate) and it really is a nice case. Really does a great job of protecting the phone. I also ordered the commuter from amazon for $22 plus shipping.

GET THE TRIDENT AEGIS from ebay! i got mine fore $22 and its already saved me twice. Once i left the phone in my lap and as i got out of the car, the phone landed faceflat on the cement. NO DAMAGE! second it dropped out my hands right onto the corner. This case is the ****!

Cases

Any word on cases that will launch along side the DNA next week? Would the wireless charging / NFC have the distance to work through a case?
Are you planning on putting a case on your DNA?
Personally, I'm not planning on getting a case. I think the phone looks too good on it's own to cover it up. My only concern would be dust and pocket lint getting in the open grill sides.

I think it would work with a case but I don't think you really need a case with gorilla glass 2 but if I do get one it will most likely be the tpu case because I always buy that on my android devices and love the design and feel so much.

I don't like the added bulk of cases, though I'll be getting a screen protector as soon as one is available. HTC adds an additional glossy coating on top of the Gorilla Glass, and it is more prone to surface scratches than the Gorilla Glass itself.
Plus I have two pieces of dust underneath the Galaxy S3 screen protector I've got on the DNA temporarily. Want to get that remedied ASAP.

not exactly, it lets you sign up for a notification for when they will be available
I was able to grab this from VZW when I pre-ordered ($19.99)

Whoops. I didn't actually delve into the product pages.
The one thing I think case makers will overlook is the backside notification LED. Being not thick and able to see the notification light, I think I'll stick to a clear tpu case.

i think some of the "less reputable" ones might, but i would hope the bigger names would take it into account.

The one otterbox made for the DNA is covering the back notification light.

I'm wondering the same thing. I like the otterboxes for the DNA.
Guys, gals...
If you haven't seen, there's another thread with the case I think this phone might be deserving of. I by no means take credit for finding it, but here's the thread.
That's awesome. I'd totally pick one up if they make them for the DNA.
I found this via Google search but I'm not really sure how reputable it is (seems kind of sketchy). There are already several cases listed for the DNA.

I received word from Incipio stating they don't plan on making anything for the DNA. I agree about the sketchiness of the Tessco site. I searched on Incipio for some of the product numbers listed, with nothing found.
Seidio will be making cases for the DNA, i've been wanting to get a hold of one of their cases for a while now and just needed an excuse
Tessco
Tessco supplies to retailers.
Does anyone know of any phone with fairly similar dimensions? Most of what I researched has the DNA being taller. The reason I ask is because I like sleeves instead of a case....I guess it's an old blackberry habit. I had the original Nexus neoprene one for my OG Incredible. If I can find a quality sleeve for another device, it might suit the DNA just fine.
Thanks
Body Glove Drop suit is available on eBay for the DNA.

[VIDEO] Verizon Wireless HTC Droid DNA Trident Aegis Series Case (QI charger tested)

This is probably one of my least favorite Trident cases, but I still like it. In general I usually favor Trident over many other brands. I think I am going to run this case because it is slimmer than the Otterbox Commuter and seems to work better with wireless chargers.
Great video, I linked it to the Aegis case thread if you don't mind.
Actually thanks a lot for linking it. I was just thinking about doing it.

I currently use a Ballistic SG case and just noticed that the polycarbonate shell might be squeezing the device and bit much that the screen shows bluish blobs. It is most noticeable on a white background, like say using the Google Reader app. Does the Trident case squeeze onto the device? If so, do you notice the screen being pinched? Thanks.
As far as I can tell, there isn't any pinching or blue blobs. The case has a very good fit but doesn't seem to be extra tight on the phone.

Thanks. Just for clarity, you don't experience the symptoms described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078518 with the Trident Aegis?
Yea, none of those. I have 1 stuck pixel that shows on a black screen though, but that's been there since before I got the case.
