I am thinking about buying a P500 as a back-up phone on eBay. The one I have my eye on is netlocked to another carrier. If I flash a custom ROM to my P500, will that remove the netlock/simlock? Thanks!
Should be but m not sure better to optimus v user can tell you better

No, if you flash a ROM onto the phone it will not unlock the SIM from the previous carrier. I have the exact phone, I rooted it. and running CyanogenMOD 7.2 and it's still locked to T-Mobile. I will be unlocking soon though when I get around to calling T-Mobile or paying for an unlocking service.
It is somewhere out there a free method to unlock a P500 locked on Vodafone (Romania)?

Yesterday, i bought my wife a galaxy ace locked to the UK three network.
I am not new to android as i have a HTC sensation but i am new to this device.
I bricked it yesterday within an hour attempting sim unlock but have learn't more about the dangers of this since and now, armed with my replacement device (yes, the girl in the carphone warehouse told me i had a faulty screen as it was flashing on and off!) i am now going to attempt sim unlock again using a safer method?? (brave or stupid?).
My question is, am i able to flash any stock rom with odin or am i limited to 3 network roms as my device is branded to them?
Any advice would be grately appreciated.
If you have the unlock code , you can practically flash every code .

Hi everyone,
I have a X10a BL unlocked right now using MIUI Oddie v10 default kernel (FXP).
And about 4 day ago in my country every company is offering free sim unlock for all cell-phone. (we got a new law ).
We can achieve the sim unlocking introducing the IMEI of our cellphone and our cell-number in the carrier web page, but the PIN they send me is not working only in this phone.
Do i need to downgrade my firmware bts?
Thank you.

You could try the Flash tool given to us by Bin4ry and flash generic then follow the standard rom guide, thats how i did mine unlocked from Vodafone to originally get 2.3 standard, but lead to more xD
Xperia X10i
DonutHD 2.3.4
SE Kernel
Relock ur bootloader then try pal. If it works, don't unlock again (unless u used s1tool u may lose radio).

Sorry guys I was just clarifying the question of whether or not it would run on any GSM network.
To do so you just need simply to unlock the phone by purchasing an unlock code online. There are numerous sites that sell and email the code to you within a 24 hr period. I just Googled unlock "LG Optimus L9 P769" (just enter your model). I purchased the unlock code for $7.
Then once your phone is unlocked just purchase sim card from GSM provider you would like to use. Insert sim into phone (find sim slot under battery) and activate phone with new service provider.
*There are two variants of the p769. T-Mobile and MetroPCS. Make sure you get the correct model info from your phone.

except on a bootloader that is locked you will have to change the apn settings.. which wont be easy, you have to modify a file by yourself..

I also have p769 with locked bootloader running kuma82's custom ROM for locked BL. Of which I've never had to manually add APN's. However I have had to add APN to unlocked BL version with custom ROM and doing so is actually quite simple.
I'm selling my Sprint Note 3 that I had rooted before the lollipop upgrade. Since then I put a lollipop rom on it.
Two stupid noobie questions that I couldn't find answers to when I searched ..
1. Since I'm rooted am I also unlocked ... can he use an att Sim card and use it on att?
2. Do I need a specific rom that would make this possible ... or is there a way to test it to prove to him that it works?
Thanks for the answers.
Just FYI... There's a difference between unlocked carrier and unlocked boot loader.
You do not need a custom ROM to use another Sim card, but you need to unlock the carrier on the phone

Is there a way to tell if I did a carrier unlock? I don't really even remember what method I used to root it.
You unlock the boot loader to flash a custom rom?
To sim unlock you would have had to run SSU.app or GT.app to international unlock then odined a older radio mj4 or mi3. Then change the APNs to match the carrier's settings for internet and mms messages.
I called sprint and got the master unlock codes ... is there an easy way to unlock it now that I have those?
Hi
I recently bought h900 updated to MM, I dont use at&t sim and I dont live in US, so I was wondering if its possible to debrand h900 to any other version so I can install custom recovery and root my phone
Any help are appreciated
You can have the device SIM unlocked by AT&T, and that will give SOME options on some other carriers, but I don't know what options you will have internationally. On the h900 there is currently no Root available for MM and the bootloaders are locked. Unfortunately, I think your options are going to be pretty limited
thank you for your reply
The device is already sim unlocked it's used not a new one,
so there no way to debrand the device
