What do you really mean? from where are you accessing and what?
Why you want extract...? for removing any specific app?
If you have a CWM back up of earlier ROM, you can use Titanium Backup Pro for individual apps installation for installing from your earlier ROM....

I just wanted to do it in case I would like to back up to original state before rooting and flashing CM7.

If you use CWM you do not back up original as it has cwm and root kernel ,

[Q] Backup kernel?

Hi everyone.
I was wondering if there's a way to backup my kernel. (before root)
I want to change the rom I'm using, but due to legal issues I need to be able to revert back to the rom that's installed on my phone now...
I know I can backup through recovery but I need to root my phone first and I cant find this specific kernel so I can go back to it if needed.
So is there a way I can backup my kernel?
Or if anyone knows where I can get this kernel:
I9100JHKF2 ?
Thanks!
You need to download the stock kernel used by your rom, then reflash it when you need a complete stock firmware. I think there's no way o backup kernel without rooting your phone. Flashing with odin increase your binary flash count , flashing inside cwm doesn't not
Why would you want to backup a kernel ???
Firmware yes kernel no.
kernel is only a small part of the firmware and of itself is no use to return a phone to stock .

[Q] How to goback to UHKG7 from XWKDD

hi guys, I was trying to root and got it finally, but ended up on XWKDD firmware version. My original firmware was UHKG7. Now I want to go back to UHKG7 firmware. But not able to find the whole package .. Please advice how to proceed.
How I managed to get to XWKDD was, got the full firmware package and did a complete flash and then rooted. So i assume going back to UHKG7 would be similar if i get a full firmware package for UHKG7 ?? is it or not ?
Please advice the package i should be using to get to UHKG7 ...
thank you,

Is there anything wrong if you keep XWKDD? or is it just personal preference?
I'm trying to do the same thing you did, but i'm installing another rom from for another region.

well after you flash a custom rom you can ALWAYS flash a stock rom over it with ODIN .......and you can also flash the stock recovery so when u take it for repairs those guys wont know if u had rooted or flashed a custom rom
note: the stock recovery is for GT S5830 ONLY not its variants like i, m , t , b

Yup perfect...... He can also install CWM and take backup of Stock and flash custom.... If he don't want to use odin!
In case of repairs, he can restore that backup an flash stock recovery zip...

Odin is easier and faster. But an easier way if u don't have a PC available .!

I may be wrong on that point, but I think reverting to stock using Cwm is not exactly the same as with odin. Doesn't odin also flash the original recovery, instead of cwm? In that case, if you have to flash back to stock in order to send your device for repair, maybe the safer would be to flash with Odin.

It installs the same firmware, as the cwm backup is of the same firmware . Just the diff is that the backup is rooted .

Ok. So, do you agree with this summary?
* to revert simply to the rooted stock rom, use Cwm.
* if you have to send your phone to repair and don't want to void your warranty, flash the original "not rooted" firmware with Odin.

#1 not so correct......when u flash a custom rom like cm7 ur phones file system becomes ext4 wheras stock roms require rfs file system so you CANNOT restore your stock rom backup over a custom rom with cwm .......unless your custom rom has rfs file system(which custom roms normally dont have)..

I looked after insecured and secure file to install ROOT and CWM but i found nothing for this new FW.
anyone has an idea how i can do the full ROM backup as i did already with CWM ?
thx.
This is how you do it
Or flash any custom kernel

you can simply download a stock rom from e.g. sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.
if you really want it from your parent's phone: you have to root (I think you cannot make a nandroid with stock recovery?), make a nandroid backup, un-root their phone (follow the guides in general's stickies)
