Hi everyone,
Yesterday I bought a White Sony Xperia S, in the evening I was playing with ita and saw 5 dead subpixels on a black background.
Today I went back to shop, I got a new one, but unfortunately this one has 2 dead subpixels on it
Can everyone put a black screen on and check whether you have blue dots on a black background? I just wanna know whether it's worth it to get an exchange again. Otherwise I just keep this one or have a refund, have to think about that.
Regards!

Take it back and exchange it for another, and before you leave the shop check to make sure that there are no dead subpixels.
Yea, I would just exchange again if i were you.
I have currently that eclipse background on my phone, and I don't see anything like that, so you probably just got two bad phones from the batch :/
The eclipse background is stock, so you could use that easily as a test before you leave the shop next time.
Hate that
I hope you got your new experia, i have had success in the past pushing down semi-hard on the area where the dead pixels are and doing circular motions over the dead pixel to revive it.

thats one of the hidden problems of xperia range.......i exchanged 4 x10's and 2 arc and when i tried arc s and three devices had one stuck pixels each .......
sony's replacement policy states that 2 dead/stuck pixels are acceptable

I changed my Ray with one stuck pixel, just root the phone, delete the camera.apk, unroot and go back in the shop saying "the camera is broken"... It worked ^^
If someone would kindly post a picture of a dead or stuck pixel as I personally have never seen one and don't know what the look like.
Thanks

Hi,
now I have replaced my HTC TITAN by a new one, because the first device had a big and good visible dead pixel batch (2x2 pixles). But the new device has again some scattered dead pixles in the upper 1/3 of the display. They are only visible with a full black screeen, full brightness and a really dark ambience (I've used the Display Test App from Marketplace). The pixles appear as very small green dots on the display, maybe you need a magnifying glass. They are not visible on a white, green, blue or red background, only on black. Can anyone confirm these green pixles or do I have to replace my device again?

I just checked my titan with display test, it is perfect, you should get another replacement

hmm... Just seen, that this problem might be on other S-LCD-Displays, too. That's not a TITAN specific problem. I think there are only a few subpixels not working properly. I try to get another device -.-
Hope there is one left in the store I bought it, the have ordered ten devices and got only two...
Good luck! I am also a Titan owner, and so far, I dont have any dead pixels. I will keep an eye on it though!
Hi,
thank you for keeping an eye on it.
There are rather subpixles, which are not working. My girlfriend's Mozart has the same problem, but it jas only one red subpixle which is not working. Broken subpixles are hard to see, so if they don't bother me, I will keep my TITAN for now.

Same dead pixel with my titan too
Hi @zyclop
I brght HTC titan yesterday and same case is with me also. There are two minute dead pixel (you can say quarter dead pixel bcz they are too minute) and visible only in black background as green color. Any possible solution for it?
PS : I am fine with it as far as it remains two .. Could any one confirm if there is any chances for it to get multiplied in near future?
hi...ive checked my titan too...no dead pixel so far...try to become a replacement phone again....on contract they must replace it!!
also Titan owner now dead pix in here
So did anyone already found some dead pixels or subpixels, or yellowspots / stains in the screen.
Let us know here.

Lucky you, i have a "dead pixel", green one.
And a yellowspot in the rightbottom corner, but that'll fade over time. (i hope)
I'm glad that the screen has a very high resolution, it's really hard to even notice the dead pixel.
I have noticed a yellowish tinge at the bottom of the display. Only really notice it when there is a white background. Is it likely that the display is somehow faulty??

I have the exact same, a yellowish spot in the bottom right corner.
I hoped it was the same problem as the iphone or SGS2.
They say the yellowspot is from the glue that they use to stick the screenlayers together, but it needs time to vaporise and should go away over time.
But I have my phone now almost a week and i still get the spot back now and then.

+1.
I've the same problem. I checked with service centre and they say it's software issues, which I can't believe.

Lol software problem :')
Sounds like bull**** to me.
I had contact with T-Mobile today, about the dead pixel and yellowspot.
The guy told me he's going to get information for me, and see if they can replace it. he'll send me an email later.
Same hear.
Barely visible yellowish (only on whites) at the bottom part of the screen.
It varies depending on the view angle.
Perfect screen here

Lucky you! I'm still waiting for update from Sony! Will see if they can replace the unit.
I also noticed that at times the yellowish spot disappears and appears back again! I wonder what it could be!!

Ah you are the guy from the T-Mobile forum (Hiraj) with 5 dead pixels.
Anyway they told me it's in stock again next week (Monday 19th)
Just noticed that my screen keeps flickering, this is more noticeable on white backgrounds, is this normal as in the auto brightness or should I be worried?

Hi guys just wanna update you regarding screen issues.
I've spoken with people on the forum of my country, other 2 guys with Xperia S and both of them got that really barely visible yellow tint on the bottom part of the screen (also, one of these guys has 2 Xperia S -him and his brother- and both of them have that tint).
Really difficult to explain it on forums (nothing compared to the GS2 yellow tint) because it's really hard to see and only visible on white/clear colors uniform backgrounds, but according to what I'm seeing it's a common issue, not a problem of a single faulty unit.
Got a blue/whiteisch pixel to the top right of my screen
They said i need to have more then 3 to get a new phone :/`
Can i fix this ?

I have the problem too. I called technical team dept from where i bought the phone, and they asked me to do a screen test over the phone. I tap the screen it shows all white, tap again red, green etc etc. He asked me if i could see a yellowish tinge running across the bottom of the display when these colours appeared on the display which i couldn't to be honest. I took it back to the shop, and i dont know if it has to do with the bright lighting within the store, but it didn't show up hardly at all, barely noticeable. It seems less noticeable in a well lit environment, or outside as opposed to when i am at home where it i notice it more. It is midly annoying, but this shouldn't be the case.
Can anyone throw any light as to what this could be??
Thanks

I believe that yellowish tint has something to do with warmth from the screen or the battery or the screen staying on for a longer time or something or something.
because when I'm using it alot, playing games, browsing, whatsapp etc etc. for like an hour. It gets more visible.
And then it's from "barely noticeable" to "hard to miss"
I can clearly see it on Grey (notification slide down) or Blue (startscreen DrawSomething) or White.

Same here. Interesting what you say. I would still like to know where the consumer stands on this issue, and if Sony themselves would recogonise if this is a somehow a fault with the display. My Arc had no such problems.
Hi guys,
I'm new here, but I was reading the threads on the S from the start.
Reading through the screen problems I was thinking about the following:
The Xperia S's screen is glued- as I know -, like for example the iPhone4/4s'. Some i4 users noticed this yellowish tint as well, and they've came to a conclusion it was because of the glue what was used to put the screens together and it disappeared after about 1,5-2 weeks.
This could explain the reaction to temperature differences too.
Hi just got my second lumia 710 because of the last one had a white dot in black background!
So i just ran a pixel test on the new phone and i see the same dot but on a different place on the screen!
It only appears in black background and its very small!
Is this normal for the screen or is it a stuck pixel?

Its a stuck pixel yes. I have had a lumia 710 that has a stuck pixel. Got a new one.
You might be able to unstick it using something like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avj108dN_x0
Play it with the screen on for a few hours to try unstick it
That's definitely a stuck pixel. I have one on my brand new TF300 and it's driving me nuts. Asus said you can have it replaced even for a single defective pixel tho, so I'm sending it back. I tried everything to fix it but no luck. Don't even waste your time, send it back and get another one, we're not expected to tolerate this bs.

Another one with white pixel in Limia 710 here... :crying:
Has anyone found dead pixels on their Z2 got mine Saturday and already had it replaced once for this issue and the replacement has the same problem
Cant find any dead pixels on mine. Come to think of it i always got lucky with stuff like that. Not a single dead pixel on any device i ever had.
2, one really noticeable, one is faded

Sony warranty states that 2 dead pixels are acceptable. Fortunately, my Z2 has none.
I've sent mine back for a replacement with one dead pixel and overheating issue. Bought it last Friday, already gone
I found one dead pixel on mine, but I'm ignoring it for now.
OK. I have one stuck green pixel on the top right. Is this a common thing with xperias? Does anything actually work to fix them? My phone is ULB so I can't get it replaced.

Try display tester pro. No guarantee but worth the try
I had a Z replaced at least a dozen times due to dead pixels, eventually got a Z1 which had none but now it looks like Sony is plagued by them back with the z2
I've tried a few apps to fix it. Its only barely visible when on full brightness with a black background when its close to my eyes. No biggie.
Is this pretty common with Sony Xperias?

Every phone manufacturer suffers from these problems not just sony, I remember it was a common problem with the nexus 5 when it got released, if it's only 1 dead pixel then it should be much of a problem, besides I have heard you need at least 3 dead pixels to get a replacement
do you guys check for dead pixels with a magnifier? As now with these high dpi screens it's pretty hard to identify "one" dead pixel to me... maybe mine has but i don't think i can notice it without a magnifier lol
I only noticed it on the black screen in the dark. It doesn't bother me, it's only one pixel.

Same for me. Only visible on full brightness with black. Its never like that unless I check.
Hi,
i've discovered a small dark spot on my Display. Everything works ok, the dark spot shows the right colors but a bit darker than on the rest of the screen. (see Attachments)
I've 2 month of warranty left, but if i send it to Sony i'll have to pay ~25$ if it's not covered by the warranty.
The spot isn't worse, but if you know it is there, you see it!
Does anyone know what it is? Should i send it to Sony?
Thanks for your replies!

Send it to Sony. I had dead pixels on my display before and a space looking effect on black backgrounds with max brightness. I did a live chat with Sony and they said send it in and within a week or 2 it was fixed and I didnt have to pay anything. If your still unsure use the live chat with Sony or email them the images im sure that will help. I no longer have my Z2 tablet anyway as I have upgraded to a z4 tablet but I did like my time with it. I recommend you contact them and send it off.
