amon, missing nandroid folder and can't backup - HTC Rezound

I put a different sd card in and transferred all files from previous memory card. I noticed that my sdcard/nandroid folder with all my backups were deleted. I create a new one but whenever I go into recovery, it disappears. I try to make a backup and it gives me an error. It cannot locate the sdcard folder. Any ideas on why the nandroid folder is disappearing and how can I relink the sdcard folder in amon with the new card?
if I put the old card in, it backups fine.

From the topic about the recovery..
Always check recovery.log before posting your issues! You can do this by doing :
"cat /tmp/recovery.log" OR "cat /cache/recovery/log" right after you had the issue. Use the "move log to sd" option in the "others" menu right after you had the issue. This will move the log to /sdcard/recovery.log so you can easily open it with a text editor.

thanks. I should have mentioned that there is no recovery log created in any of the folders as I checked beforehand. I tried moving it to the sd card but still nothing.

Can't think of what would be wrong... perhaps, trying flashing the recovery again. That would force it to setup the directory correctly..

Is the card formatted fat32?

yup. this time i formatted the card from the phone in settings but again, once I remove the phone from the pc, it deletes the nandroid folder. very odd. I just recreated it in es explorer, rebooted into recovery and the backup is running now. wierd. hopefully it sticks.

reflashed amon and i can make a backup but now it won't flash any zips. Tried a few roms in case it was a bad file but no luck. finally got a log file too this time. (attached) also tried to flash from the phone storage and it won't work. any ideas?

Don't really know what this means but it looks like where the problem is...
Install from internal_sdcard...
Finding update package...
I:Update location: INTERNALSD:Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v2.2.zip
Opening update package...
I:Update file path: /internal_sdcard/Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v2.2.zip
E:Can't open /internal_sdcard/Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v2.2.zip
(bad)

That was when I tried flashing from the phone storage. Got the same error from flashing from the sdcard.

Have you tried other zips or just this one since you reflashed? If just this one, did you check the md5 after downloading? Seems this may be a bad file if it can't be opened.
I had an issue with it not reading my external card once when flashing a ROM but it specifically said it couldn't read my external card. So I would guess it's the fie you are trying to flash.

Cant flash zip files anymore

I wiped everything, re-partioned sd-card and tried to install a new ROM..
But something have happend..
After i re-patrioned / wiped... and flash the rom (have tried a lot of ROM's now) i get errors..
Install from sdcard
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/Cronos-2-0J_.zip

Installation aborted.
Happends now on every rom i install, have already tried again to re-partion.
What is the most basic way to re-partion ? settings i mean?
Anyone know what could be the problem..
The zip files cant be corrupt either.
* I also noticed that if i upload a ROM-file, then re-partion and wipe everything..
The rom is still on the sd-card..
I then deleted the rom from sdcard and re-partion again, and still..even duo i already deleted the file.. its there?
Maybe it is because of the SD Card.. So if you have another one try it
I had this same problem i had to do a full format of the SD card then all worked fine never had the problem again strange
If you ecejt the SD card before its done (or eject it wrong) you may and up with a bad file.
What you could do is:
Format your SD card.
Then put a rom on it.
Then go to my pc, and find ur card, then right click and select eject
Yea something strange with your sdcard.
Try as they stated above. Remove the sdcard from your phone. Insert it back in.
Try to reformat it with a different sdcard setup like: no swap, no ext only fat32.
Then check if the card is still behaving the same if not good. If so maybe the sdcard is just defect?
Good Luck.

same issue here, solved this way.
Did you flash an exotic recovery image by any chance?
You can always reflash 1 back by pushing it to /cache/ and flashing from there.
A radical way to overcome this would be to delete the partition table on your SDcard and let your current rom reformat it.
Im bumping my own thread.. Last time i bought a new sdcard..
Now this **** have happend again.. I get the same error as before!
How should i do this? Is there any other way then whats posted now?
Happens on all Roms
This is quite obvious but you make no mention of what recovery image is on you sd card?
I assume you saved the old image you were using and put it back on your sd card
Yes,maybe you recovery image is damaged.
Try to install again!
It sounds like your sd card is not actually partitioning since the rom is still on the sd card. To partition the sd manually try this:
I'm going to assume the following:
You are using Amon Ra recovery
You have not downloaded Clock Work recovery
You can still get into recovery using Amon Ra
You have SDK and JDK installed
You're using windows
Plug your phone into the computer. Open a command prompt (hit start and type cmd and press enter). Direct it to read from the tools directory of sdk " cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools" for most people. Now follow the directions from this how-to http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/. Stop after step 4 and type "quit" unless you plan on repartioning your sd card (in which case, choose which partitions you wish to make). Move the new rom you want to boot to the sd card and try again.

*sighs*

Problem after problem, lol....I have StreakDroid 1.9.0 on my phone...And I was trying to update to 1.9.1. Got the rom on there. Got into recovery. When I hit 'apply sdcard:update.zip, I see the yes, it says 'Yes - Install /sdcard/update.zip'...I click it, and it says
'Installing: SDCARD:update.zip
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.'
Then the apply sdcard:update.zip one says
'E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /sdcard
What do I do? :/ And I don't think the internal card is the problem.
More than likely the external card this time. Run the checklist in the post linked below.

Did you rename the file to update.zip before you put it on? If not you might need to do the chose option to find the one named StreakDroid1_9_1_update.zip or something like that.
I did. Doesn't work.
The file may also be corrupt... download it again and start over
Nice thought but it isn't a corrupt file. I've tried to flash several different roms. Don't work. Also, a few programs won't work. Programs that I think are on the internal. Such as fb app. Also, saving files sometimes fails...Idk...
Just checking, you did put the rom on the root of the SD card and rename it to update.zip? I always use the option to select the file manually...

Put it this way....Flashing worked 2 weeks ago. And I'm not doing -anything- differently than I was before.

The only supposed fix I could find is to take out the internal microsd and put it back in...Supposedly, it's not seated right... I really don't want to take it apart, though...

[Q] Before I retire my gTab...

Can anyone explain to me why I keep getting this when I'm trying to flash a new rom?
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip

Installation aborted.
That's what it says when I try to install anything with clockworkmod. I have followed all directions on NVFlashing and I have followed all directions on wiping my gTab clean and partitioning from 4096 back to 2048 and basically formatting it. I have downloaded about 3-4 roms, I have used different browsers to download them, they all cannot be corrupt can they? The Flashback 7.2 zip file I used a few days back (and worked) gives me the same problem. So I do not know what I did to neuter this baby of mine, I wish I did so I could undo it. I thought NVFlash could fix any thing?
I can boot up to stock 1.2 but really, I cannot go back to that after tasting all these roms starting with vegan ginger and than to 5.1 and most recently to Flashback. What really is the point in trying to NVFlash over and over if it is going to give me the same crappy Installation aborted message? I have tried both bootloaders, and none of the roms will flash. I love the gTab, but I guess I Frankensteined it too often and killed off it's heart. If anyone has an answer, I am dying to hear you out. Even if you want to call me a moron, I can appreciate it for the fact that you guys read all this. Thanks for reading, and any answers you guys may have I thank thee in advance.

Q. Do you have CWM installed? If yes, have you tried the "install zip from sdcard" option in CWM which lets you choose the zip file you want to install?
Here's what I recommend if you're on stock ROM with CWM installed:
0. Remove external SD cards if present.
1. Repartition the internal SD card (2048/0).
2. Copy the update.zip somewhere onto the internal SD card. (This zip file need not be called update.zip or be in the root directory of the SD card. It can be anywhere.)
3. Do "wipe data/factory reset". Almost a mandatory step when switching ROMs.
4. Select the "install zip from sdcard" (instead of the "apply update from sdcard" menu item) menu option, navigate to where the zip file is stored and then install it.
5. If the installation fails, attach the USB cable to the gTablet, then get me a dmesg output and the recovery.log file(s) using adb:
Code:
C:\> [B]adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt[/B]
C:\> [B]adb pull /cache/recovery.log recovery1.txt[/B]
C:\> [B]adb pull /tmp/recovery.log recovery2.txt[/B]
If all else fails there's a reset button on the main board, lol im not sure what it does exactly, so only try it if its a last resort Good luck!

[Q] Why can't I see SD Card from CMW?

While trying to install a ROM from my SD card with CWM I am getting the message "E:Can't mount SD card" I was able to move it internal and install the ROM but I'm curious why I couldn't do the same the SD card. The card does seem to be mounted correctly because I can go to ES Explorer and see the content with no problem. It only seems to be CWM Recovery that can't see it.

when i was watching the utube videos ( of Albert ? ) . . i remember he had to 'pop the card out and back in again', and then issue the 'read sd card' command once more .... to get it to cooperate . . i am sure i remember that. did you watch the video ?
If you are "rebooting" into recovery, the sd card will often not mount. Rebooting into Android also seems to have this problem. Simply removing the card and putting it back in will solve it for Android. I'm not sure about clockworkmod. I generally just power off and then manually boot into recovery.
I popped and put back in the SD card and now CWM recognizes. However I'm still having issues.
If I load the ROM NT_stock_1.4.0_Ribbon_Root_v2 (from the lavero.burgos thread) after it says that the install is complete I see this.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
If I load the 1.4.0 stock ROM CWMrestore_1_4_0__plus_NTV16gbV4_6 then as soon as it says Installing update... I get
Installation Aborted
Something is amiss with my CWM
Which model do you have?

Well the ribbon rom shouldn't be seeing that error. You're installing the zip file correct? Maybe download it again. Try another rom like cm7 of cm9 and see what happens.
As for the cwm restore rom, that is not a flashable zip. You need to extract the downloaded file, place it at /clockworkmod/backup/ (on internal or external)and then restore it.

With the ribbon ROM I tried to take it to a place with free WiFi (since the error with not being able to get past the B&N registration due to not being able to connect to my WiFi) and get a different error. It sees the WiFi and when I click to registrator it bails with a message at the bottom that says "B-bind error." So I came home and again downloaded the other ROM (the 1.4.0 called CWMrestore_1_4_0__plus_NTV16gbV4_6) and still get the same error with that one. So I guess my next play is to try a third a third ROM but I'm not too confident that will work either. I've cleared the Dalvik cache. Should I also try clearing any other cache? I'm afraid I may clear out something I need and already kind of have myself in deep enough.
Last resort would be to reimage from an SD card but I feel like I'm so close and there must be something simple to get me over the hump.
How are you trying to install the cwm recovery rom?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
The ROM was installed by putting the zip in the root of my SD card, going into the CWM menu and using the install zip from sdcard option. I also cleared out the Dalvik cache as rcommended.
The recovery wasn't from a ROM but rather from a backup I did before trying the ROM install. It didn't work for whatever reason.
I've since punted (reimaged via SD card, rerooted and backed up again). The ROM failed again. Same thing where I can't get past the B&N registration page because beacuse my WiFi doesn't connect (Connted, testing). I did notice this time a b-bind error.
The one thing different is that my backup was successful this time as I can restore to the rooted 1.4.0 mode (WiFi works). So I don't need to start from scratch again but still can't seem to get a ROM installed.

[Solved] TWRP 2.2.1.1 Error Flashing

********************************This issue has been fixed by updating TWRP via fastboot.*********************************************
I was working on flashing a new rom on my tf201. I wiped internal storage assuming that I would be able to access my external SD but I cannot. When I select external SD, it immediately switches back to internal. I have used adb to push 3 different roms onto the internal storage /. I am recieving the same error when trying to install either of the 3 roms. Here is what I am getting:
-- Install /cm-10-20120818-NIGHTLY-tf201.zip ...
Finding update package...
E:unknown volume for path [/cm-10-20120818-NIGHTLY-tf201.zip]

* Verifying filesystems...
* Verifying partition sizes...
Error flashing zip '/cm-10-20120818-NIGHTLY-tf201.zip'
Can someone advise me on what I should do please?

try pushing rom to some folder ie /sdcard/roms and flashing from there
The latest twrp is 2.1.4, I would suggest upgrading to that first then try again....if I am not mistaken, there have been a few problems with the earlier version.
