I wonder if it would be possible to integrate DooMLords latest recovery to ics boot.img, there is one big advantage of it - ext support. Nand backup with doom's recovery is complete, if u use a2sd or link2sd it is quite nice. than touch recovery is ok too
Here boot_DooMRec.img merged with DooMKernel for stock ARC ramdisk
Stock ICS kernel + DooMRec + Init.d
- DooMLoRD CWM-based recovery v5.0.2.7
- Init.D Support! (/system/etc/init.d)
- some scripts by DooMLoRD added
- flashlight fixed
- Tested ROMs: ICS Beta, JJ's Hybrid, ICELite

Brilliant...The ROM feels very smooth and snappy after using that Kernel with init.d.. My ROM has tweaks but I guess they arent activated by default.. it seems that this kernel activates it...
Thumbs up... will check for a day or two then post in my thread.. some users on ARC had battery rain with doomkernel.. hope this one if free of that bug..
Sirkay's kernel works on all the ICSbeta ROMs that I have tried....not just JJs.
It works great, but I have never gotten the camera light to work with this kernel,
this is true for the camera or a stand alone flashlight app...might just be me!
Yep, camera light is broken with this kernel, unfortunately. Otherwise it's great.
oh i barely used flashlight, didnt notice about it. i will check later
Works for me on JJ's, sirkay.

thx very, very much, for me the ext support is very usefull, this recovery is the one he use with his arc ics beta kernel, there is a very long vibration and blue led light when u have press home button to reach recovery, i must say that i do not like this vibration, it is looooong....
his touch recovery is used in the kernel in this ray rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529474
this one is without vib.... but it is not ics kernel
Thanks for the quick fix.
I tested it on the KA05 and RayOniumICSv1 ROMs and it works there as
well. I think that all the ICSbeta ROMs for the ray.
Cheers!

here steps to disable or reduce vibration time to enter recovery
- using RootExplorer access /sbin
- open bootrec in text editor
- find line with "echo "3000" > /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/enable" change the value. "3000" = 3seconds
- to disabled put "#" before "echo". it should look like this "#echo "3000" > /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/enable"
Sirkay, you are doing an excellent job,..you got half of my thanks for today......thumbs up!
i suggest you make a separate thread for all kernels you ported with this guide got editing vibration stuff etc
nahh .. just a small contribution in our small developement section i guest compare to you, hansip87 or others.
i understand right now you focus on roms, hansip with his excellent mods, others with their tweaks etc.. so am trying to help with kernel.
for separate thread, i think we'd enough thread here. so i just post the kernel updates in the right thread. not much updates i can make with the kernel.

Having stock kernel, from where I stand, test results are the same as in XGin 6.1. concerning Linpack, AnTuTu and Quadrant. I attach screenshots bellow. Well, still a great Rom, the best, good battery life and , of course, Cypress users like me have to add ax8mt.ko module again....
After checking FB Indonesia, looks like the Changelog mostly reffers to tweaking the Rom with the existing , rich, .apk's and making it Compatible with custom kernel. So it looks like the problem lies with me, that I still have Stock kernel...
Attached a Screenshot from Kryshna Yana, from FB Indo, showing great results with diferent Kernel.
Thanks for that,
And for a great job.
I feel there is not enough importance given to this great Rom.
on the other hand is true that I use XGin on a day to day basis from the beginning, so mabe I am a bit bias. But anyways the rom is stable, smooth, and just suitable to my use and to anyone that needs a stable, reliable, no FC and no OC either. Great battery life, 1% loss over night.
All credits to Rieken Yuki : thank you master for a great ROM.
Also to Mika Dee for the site and support.
Credits go deeper - to Shpit, the original XGin Dev, FrogyFurnetal for contribution, other Indo users and Devs and of course to original CM6, CM7 dev. team. As I understand, Rom is ported from Hero.
Thanks to anyone who contributed.

thanks to admin, so reserve post for me, thank you for elderduke (thx bro)
Shpit, KuyaGaol, FrogyFurnetal (Lasan in xda), doixanh, nobodyAtall, and everything in xda big thanks to you all.
Screenshots with results
Results in Linpack: (Jit enabled) : 7.4-7.5
Results in Quadrant (@600): 1160 (2d: 216, 3d: 383)
AnTuTu: 1443 - but I have quite low card values...
Modules: default is the synaptics -x8gestures.
if you have cypress, add a ax8mt.ko module, change permissions, and rename it to x8gestures....
ADDED: Mastah Rieken Yuki gave me the fix for CMparts, now we have OC and UV on this ROM. Great work!!
All credits to Rieken Yuki!!
Hit post above.
I'LL test it!
i like w8 look out!
@Op, I used Xgin when shpit was behind it, and that was so fun . But, my guess is that ppl even don´t know it too much since Rieken doesn´t play here on XDA, and the OP from Xgin thread is not updating it anymore . Good to know that indo ppl still developing it

Yes, agreed, and seeing that Shpit's XGIN Op did not update, - not to mention changed his XDA name - I decided to post XGin 6.1 for now. We'll see in future what happens. For the moment Rieken Yuki is porting the new nightlies from Hero, but I cannot give ETA for new version. This version I consider it deserves more attention.
Enjoy,
Cheers
Ok my experience:
-Good performance, except the transistion animation, its slow sometimes.
-The boot time is ok, fast.
-I have no problem with bluetooth and wifi.
Bug:
-if i choose clockworkmod on reboot menu, it doesnt enter to it!
I'still testing it! i hope i can do a short review video for the weekend!

Do you know if he is managing to make his on kernel for this ROM?
Edit: About SIMLock, if you unlock bootloader, you will have to unlock sim again, but I didn´t see anyone who did it already. Everyone who unlocked, said that asks Blagus for the fix, but seems that he is not answering, or ppl aren´t giving the expected feedback on the thread. (sry for the OT)

No idea atm ...but I do not have the bootloader unlocked. reason: I had a simlock on my phone...experts say unlocking will re-appear that simlock. Do u know if is true or not? Anyways for that reason I did not ask about kernel, but I will asap.
I updated the thread but only upto 6.0 version.i saw 6.1 version, but there was no changelog and i couldnt update the thread anymore.

Sorry for that , but I posted enough things (changelog, new link, etc) and also I thought the title deserves attention : Rieken Yuki, and not Shpit (thank you for all the work done) anymore.
Thanks for the info with unlocking and for the info on Alfs' kernel, unfortunately I cannot (should not, right? ) unlock it.
Could you be so kind post some Antutu/Quadrant/linpack results with Alfs?
I have no pc right now,and i have nAa kernel for miniCM...if i had alfs kernel i would install xGin...sorry :/
You could unlock your phone if you are willing to pay for another sim unlocking.you have no choce.or,buy another sim card from the phone operator where you bought your x8.

no way, unfortunately, that is not applicable. diferent countries.
But that's off-topic.
When you can, if you remember. No rush. We will be waiting some results.
But meanwhile, do you think nAa kernel is not compatible to XGin? Could you see into that? or you know for a fact?

For the moment 6.1. Rom is build to work with kernel Rom. If you check above, nAa Kernel is known not to work with a multitude of Roms. Different would be Alf's Kernel which is known to work on most Roms.
Anyways, the rom is supposed to be installed with xRecovery, so....you can try to do the following:
-go back to stock Kernel, install XGin with xRecovery
- then install Alfs with the patch, then see if that works.
That's all I have for now.
Keep well,

havn't tested with locked bootloader
BTW the Kernel I gave you has CWM already in it. The Tweaker you posted in your first post is for people without unlocked bootloaders that want to install CWM.
That being the case you need to inform people that they need to install the boot.img before through bootloader. Typical syntax: fastboot -i -0x0fce flash boot boot.img

Wait but the ROM already has your kernel in it so you don't need to flash it twice
Kernels on Xperia devices don't get flashed like that. They get flashed beforehand through Fastboot.
lolz, hi duramen, I tested your kernel, the OC is ok but I don't see smartass governor
may be you can add some more governors in kernel (e.g. Scary, smartassv2)
(or maybe I use my own ramdisk (cwm5 & lastest su) then lost that governor ??)
Good to see that SE live with walkman has a dedicated custom rom now(might attract some devs and possibly a forum for this phone will be opened lol), would be good if you put some screenies + changelog in the future versions. Goodluck!
PS: I like the name Walkman Rebirth from the list

Thnx , I see alot of people like Wallman REbirth so i might change it, I'll have the Sceenies an changelog as soon as tuesday
This is NOT my kernel. It's just a kernel compiled from DooMLoRD's kernel sources, and since i only had to type 2 commands to make them i just did the OP the favor of handing it to him. I cannot support any updates on it, because
1. I dont have the device
2. I am not a developer. I just port stuff (i get lost just by opening a single xml).
If you want to make the kernel better you can use either DoomLord's or the Stock kernel sources as a base, and build from then on...

The touch is working but, it responds very-very-very late...
You can notice, when the phone booted up, and you touch the area where where the lockscreen unlock is.
This is what i'm talked about. Need to play a little with the gralloc, or with the libs from an aosp or aokp rom.

New JB framework causes lags?
v2 Released. Scroll down for info!
Hello,
After lots of help from sirkay and FXP, I've built my own kernel that I thought I'd share with you.
This kernel wouldn't exist without the hard work of FXP. This is built from his source code. All real credit for this belongs with him (and DoomLord too, also an FXP Team member)
That said, this is my take and keeps the rather awesome release that is CM7.2 alive!
To be clear: This is a kernel for Cyanogen Mod 7.2 - Gingerbread! If you want a good ICS Kernel look at Sirkay's Thread.
So, what's different?
Uses a very recent GCC to compile, GCC version 4.6.3 which I optimised the build for Cortex-a8 and NEON.
Is compiled for performance not size (Optimize for size unticked)
Heap Randomisation is disabled.
Enabled SWAP - So you can use swap if you want to...
Default Scheduler changed to deadline, same as the Sony official kernel (still has bfq if you want to use it)
Default governor changed to ondemand.
CONFIG_OABI_COMPAT turned off. (This might break apps, haven't found any yet though)
Disabled CPUFreq Debugging.
Disabled FRAME_POINTERS, enabled STACK_UNWIND. Reason here: http://lists.openmoko.org/nabble.html#nabble-td6126708
There is no boot logo when this kernel boots. Each time I added one, the kernel refused to boot. I'll look at that. Just have patience, your phone is booting still...
(Here's where I make lots of stupid claims about how smooth, how buttery, how much battery life this kernel saves. Except I'm not a screaming idiot, so I'm not going to do that!)
I'm interested in any feedback you have, but I did this mostly for me.
And please remember the real person to thank, FXP. It's his source code I've used to build this. Also again thanks to Sirkay for his help and pointers.
Download it from here.

About the same as every other kernel.
OTG support? ?!
Sent from my ST18i
so good, This is what I looking for
@muppetmania attach here you png file. i can try to convert it to .rle for you
Could GB MIUI have the privilege?
Could we have a CM7 based MIUI 2.3.7 kernel?
I think GB MIUI works just fine and don't want to upgrade to ICS or JB.
But a better kernel for GB MIUI is always appreciated.
Thanks in advance, pls let us know if you'd be willing to.

If you'd like me to respond to questions, please post an actual articulate question in the first place. Cheers.
Yes, I'm aware I'm a ****, it's been pointed out to me already

Thanks sirkay, but the problem isn't that I can't make a rle file, it's that the rle file when added to the ramdisk stops the kernel booting. It seems to a bug in the SEMC loader, I found a post about it somewhere. Does the boot.img need to be padded out to a certain size to work?
Sometimes my logo.rle would work, but then I'd make changes, recompile, and the kernel would hang on boot. Annoying, so I've removed it for the moment.

Hi rivtre,
I'd love to help, but my Ray is the only phone I have and is running CM7.2. While I could make a kernel for MIUI I'd have no (easy) way to test it. It wouldn't be fair to anyone if I started releasing untested things. So I'm sorry, it's not that I don't want to help, but no. Anyway, read the next bit to see why that's probably not a bad thing!
To All:
My kernel seems to be terrible when it comes to HD video recording. Can anyone else test this? I get heaps of dropped frames using my kernel when recording HD video vs a FXP Stock kernel. I need to look more at this, but for the moment I'd recommend not using this kernel!
v2 Released!
Version 2 of muppet kernel released.
What's new?
Compiled with GCC 4.7.1
Reverted to BFQ Scheduler by default
Reverted to Interactive CPU Scaling by default
Added logo.rle so you know it's booting!
Removed Debugging Symbols (CONFIG_KALLSYMS)
Reverted the scheduler and CPU scaling as they seemed to be the cause of the video recording lag.
Enjoy!

does the kernel also work with this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424121?
can I flqsh the kernel with flashtool?

Not sure if it works with the stock ROM or not - try it and report back.
Yes, like all kernel images, you can flash it with Flashtool.
You can OC up to 1.6Ghz.
I tried it, but It doesn't work. Booting failed

Just flashed your kernel, going to give a test run! thanks!!
Edit:
Well it doesn't seem to me that the camera recording works at all ... pictures = fine - but when trying to record video - the image freezes - and the camera app crashes.
I have to reboot to get back into the camera app...
Also, can't play any video I previously recorded...
Anything I'm missing?
I've flashed your kernel and did a cache + dalvik wipe...
Cheers!

Oh, well that's not the sort of feedback I wanted!
I haven't done much video recording the last couple of weeks (I've been away from work)
Let me do some testing and see what I can find...
Thanks for reporting
If you want a logcat I'll make one and get it to you , cheers
