Standard email app. No batch delete? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Is there a way to delete all the deleted items in the deleted items folder in the standard Sony email app? Its rather annoying, and time consuming, to have to delete everything twice!
On my old desire, there was a "select all " option, but there doesn't seem to be this on the Sony?

That's right, same for "mark all as unread".
I recommend K9-mail or Kaiten mail.
You can get the settings right for your e-mail in k9 by looking them up in the stock app under the settings there. (Stock automatically connects to e.g. Hotmail, K9 doesn't).
Code:
Incoming:
Username:*****@hotmail.com or *****@live.com, etc.
POP3: pop3.live.com
security type: ssl if available
port 995
outgoing
smtp.live.com
poort 587
TLS if available

[Q] IMAP account won't work correctly in Sense Mail

I'm trying to get my IMAP college email address to work with the default mail app. I'm running inj3ct3dth3ory 6.01. The mail app is version 4.0.2 (the stock sense 3.0 version if I'm not mistaken). I have all the settings entered exactly how I have them in Thunderbird on my PC, which works flawlessly with the account.
The sense mail app downloads the folder names of the account, but only says "Get more messages, XX messages on server." When I press that "Get more messages" button, it opens the compose new message screen (wtf?) and doesn't download anything. This happens for all the folders: inbox, sent, trash, etc. The number of messages that it says are stored on the server is correct. I have sent test messages to it and the number increases accordingly, so it is accessing the server more or less correctly in that regard.
My POP3 accounts (hotmail and gmail) work perfectly on the app. I've already tried deleting the account and remaking it, with the same outcome.
Any ideas? I would prefer using the stock app, as it is the one with the shortcut on the sense 3.0 lockscreen, so alternative apps are a last resort.
Thanks in advance!
Bump! This problem is really driving me crazy!
nevermind, misread.

[Q] IMAP not syncing folders

I am using Samsung Galaxy i9100 generic email app.
When setting up the email accounts with IMAP I noticed that the SENT folder on the phone is not properly synced. Actually, it is not synced at all.
I tried to put the path prefix INBOX and also Inbox but without any improvement.
Any ideas how to sync properly the SENT folder?
It sounds as though you have let the phone set up a POP account. What is the e-mail account (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) so we can check your settings?
If you add a folder in the webmail version, does it appear in the phone email client when you sync folders?
I'm not sure if this is your issue, but I don't think the built-in email app supports IMAP IDLE. IOW, it does not automatic real time sync or push email from the server. You need to actively check mail or set the app to automatically check on an interval. If you want real time sync you may want to try an app like K9.
@fred_up
I did the manual setup where I have chosen the IMAP-setup.
The email account is not Gmail, Yahoo or any of these publicly available accounts. It is an account that I set up on a shared hosting server. The account does work properly e.g. with K9
@GeorgeP
The sync of the Inbox does work perfectly. Very good is the schedule sync feature that the Samsung email app offers. What currently does not sync (not even manually) is the SENT folder of the Samsung email app with the IMAP account.
The principal question is:
how can I change that sent emails are stored in the Imap folder "INBOX.sent" and not in the Samsung folder "Sent", using Samsung's email app?

TG01/windows mob. 6.5 & updating mail folders on email client

Up until today, I had just been accessing gmail on my TG01/win mob. 6.5 via the web. I just started using the client.
However, someone else accesses the same gmail account. If they send mails, these are not updated in the 'sent' mails folder of my email client on the TG01. Is there a way to configure so that this always updates - not just incoming mail?
I guess you can Bcc your own gmail address and set up an email filtering rule to place stuff incoming from your address into Sent-mail folder.

Click to collapse
Thanks for your post. I can't remember how I sorted it but I have 2 x 'sent mail' folders now - for each account - and this accounts for both mails sent elsewhere (from another device) and mails sent via the TG01.

[Q] How can I delete my GMAIL account on tablet?

Weird question maybe. The default email client on the tablet is using the built in app. It connects to my gmail account which is fine, but I want to use the OTHER email client that is on the tablet and setup my other IMAP email accounts also and not use the default Gmail client (which is the red app) and use the yellow one that just says "mail".
Also, does anyone know what the main difference between the two email clients that are loaded on the tablet by default?
One is red and the other is yellow. I guess they are no Outlook 2010, but better than nothing right?
Have you tried simply deleting the GMail app? That would be my first guess...
The red app is Gmail - only used for google's email. The yellow app is for any other email accounts like aol or yahoo.
Go into settings and click "Accounts and Sync" then add account on the top right. Click email and add your imap account. During setup make sure you have Default Account checked, that should set it as default. Hope this helps.
I personally delete gmail each time it comes back with a new ROM.
It just needs a rooted device and one of the numerous apps that can uninstall a system app, or a root file explorer to erase /system/app/gmail.apk.
You can remove the Gmail sync element in settings for that account. Then setup the other email client. Only one email app will check for emails then.
Or as someone said root and uninstall it.
In all honesty I usually just turn off gmail notifications and set up all the other email in my EMAIL app. That way I don't lose anything other than gmail app telling me when I have new mail.
Just open gmail app, go into settings, touch your username, uncheck notifications.
You can freeze the Gmail apk. with Titanium backup and not need to uninstall.

Stock mail app issues

I'm having an issue with the stock mail app (aside from its crappy large font and horrid UI)
When I recieve an HTML email e.g. a notification from Facebook or from a company advertising something - I can't asee the text.
Facebook emnails have the blue hyperlinks but if it was a notification of a message, I can see the friend names and pics but not the comment/text next to the name???
Is very annoying as I have a yahoo mail account and several gmail acocutns and want to be able to have everything in one place.
Any ideas?
Will try K9 in meantime but wondered if anyone else has this issue and whether its an S3 issue or an ICS 4.0.x issue??
Thanks
The stock mail app is horrible. In some circumstances it'll draw white text on a white background, thus causing your problem of missing text in emails. It also has a bug where the compose text field prevents you from selecting text properly (text selection handles are bugged).
I've rooted and replaced it with the stock ICS mail app. Tried K9 but it kept crashing. ICS Mail app isn't great either, sometimes it takes an age to check for mails, also the folders are badly organised e.g. browsing to Drafts on my gmail account takes me to a different (in app) drafts folder, and I have to navigate to [google mail] -> drafts to find the correct gmail folder. I wish IMAP clients would have options to map in app folders to their correct IMAP locations.
I have K9 and so far not crashing but in comparison to the previous stock mail app I had on my HTC Desire HD they are both horrid.
Thats probably the only bit i miss as the s3 is superior in every way but the email handling is poop.
Ideally google would open out the gmail app to allow other imap accounts, e.g. yahoo and then i could have it all in one place and it look nice.
That or someone port the htc maill app over.
Hi everybody, i have S3 and also facing the same problem with my IMAP account. S3 make its own "send" items folder and not synchronize it with my IMAP one. Can I change the "Samsung send" folder to IMAP send folder?
