You can use a XEU Firmware or the O2 UK Firmware, check the Firmware-Thread here in the Forum =>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
I also have the same problem. I have bought my phone in Switzerland and live in France. I bought my phone on my own (it is not included in any contracts). Can I just take XWKJ2 Firmware from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
and tick PDA, Phone and CSC in Odin to reset my phone and have it working with Kies?
Easiest way is use an app called "checkfus" from the market. It's free.
Basically checkfus can search the same servers as kies does and find the latest firmware available from your carrier.
Then go to intratechs official carrier firmware thread and download the version that checkfus told you was the latest for your carrier.
Flash this via Odin following intratechs instructions.
Use a USB jig to get rid of any flash counter. Sets it to official firmware with 0 flash counter.
If you want at this stage you can do a wipe if you don't want any data on your phone.
At this point your phone will be as if you just unboxed it. kies should work and everything.
Hope this helps.

I have download and installed checkfus and it is very easy to use
Thank You

I have the same question for my I9300 / Galaxy S3.
I'd like to thank all the people that posted an answer, but point out there is no answer.
I want to know if there is any way for me to find out what my original firmware was. And is there a way for a service center to check if the firmware matches the imei or serial number?
As long as its official Samsung firmware(and probably for your region) what do they care.

Kies has this option build-in. Just select initialize device from menu or something like that, than enter you phone serial number and model name and voila.
It will tell you what original factory firmware was preinstalled and even flash it if you like.

I know my phone is from poland. polish was the default language for my fone. Later my phone got bricked, So I had to flash it. Wen i searched it in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 I saw quite a few firmwares from poland. Tried XXLPQ and XXKI4. But the default language came as English UK . I think I flashed it with wrong firmware. I am confused with which CSC should be used. OXA or XEO .
Is there any chance to find the stock firmware with IMEI and S/N
S/N : RDZB913735Z
can you kindly check for me, wats the official firmware for my phone.
Thanks and Regards.
Allrigt I will check this but don't publish your IMEI here. PM me.
Poland have XEO code. But if phone was branded than it can be operator's code (IDE - Orange, TLP - T-mobile...)

Thanks man,
Now i am sure its XEO , its unbranded, international version, bought from amazon.com
I'm sorry but Kies can not initialize this phone. This could mean that your phone was not branded and you can flash any official XEO firmware if you want to repair it in Sammys Service Center.
You can flash 4.0.4 immidiatelly with Odin or, if you feel that you absolutly must use Kies to upgrade (don't know why) than flash official 4.0.3 (XXLWP) it is stock for XEO region and after that change your CSC by dialing service code *#272*IMEI# (IMEI - your IMEI number). From pop-up menu choose XEO. Phone will be wiped and new CSC will be set. You can check this in 3e recovery (yellow information text at the bottom) or in Kies - there should be (XEO) at the end of the line with current version information. Than you can upgrade to 4.0.4 via Kies or FOTA.

Sorry for bump, is it possible?

Hi I got the samsung galaxy s3 when i bought the mobile it was rooted but its unbranded as there were no logos on the mobile or on the mobile box. I unrooted the mobile and reset the binary counter back to 0, the firmware i installed than was original firmware from sammobile website, but later i found the firmware was customized and it wasn't complete. Finally I installed Samsung Kies and used the option of firmware upgrade and initialisation to restore my device to factory settings but when my mobile switched back on i was surprised to see s3 got firmware with vodafone settings, my mobile is simfree but now im not sure. can anyone please help me how i can get the original firmware on my s3 and samsung kies will recognize my device as after upgrade and initialisation when i connect the device to my pc i get the message samsung does not support the firmware and i cannot get firmware upgrade from kies.
really need help to sort it out.
First you need to determine what model the phone is. This can easily be determine under Settings>about device>Model number
If it says GT-I9300, then you have the international version, if not then google whatever it displays then it will tell you what version you have. depending on which version you have, you will need to go to the respective forum and download a ROM. Install this Rom in recovery mode (this is explained in another thread in Q&A)

Hey,
I have a question regarding serial number. I am currently using Official ICS 4.0.3, CSC = COA, the IMEI is displayed correctly, but it looks like the serial number that is read by Android is totally different than what is displayed on the sticker on the back of the phone. It is something like 0019...
Does this mean that the /efs folder is screwed up? Note that I used various ROMs in the past: DarkyROM, ICS 4.0.4 ROMs (where serial number was displayed 0000...), Samsung Jelly Bean Leak, CM9 and CM10 - based ROMs. When I revert, I always flash an Open Europe full wipe Gingerbread version (XXKL1) and then incrementally update to the version with my corresponding CSC.
When I connect the phone to Samsung Kies, it is able to read the phone, it says this is the latest update (4.0.3), but I kinda find it hard to believe so I am curious whether it's S/N screwed up. Also, when I looked on Sammobile.com, I managed to find downloadable 4.0.4 OTA files for Cosmote Romania (COA).
Some threads mention flashing bootloaders or flashing official ROMs. I already did flash official ROMs but never dealt with bootloaders so far, so before I do anything, I would like some help if anyone can provide me with some specific information regarding this issue.
Furthermore, this may be important for future potential warranty service and this may help other people with similar issues.
Thanks a lot!
You have a question?
Isn't there a special section for that?

Yeah, I noticed after, sorry, if the Moderators can move it, that would be great, anyway if you know the answer, that would be great as well.
hi
same here, also wondering why the S/N on the IMEI Sticker on the back of the phone is diffrent than the S/N that show up under Settings>About Device>Status>Serial number. the imei is the same. (GT-9100, 4.0.3). there is another way/code to find the S/N ?
I noticed that N7100 and GT-I9300 IMEI and S/N that displayed on the back is exactly the same as the android shows.
thanks in advance

Rather than flashing just the modem, it is better to flash a full firmware. Download an official (possibly 4.4.2 now it is released?) firmware from sammobile or other relevant websites, back up your data, and then flash via Odin. You can always try other firmwares to check for better signals.
Cheers
Goodmorning everybody,
I'm afraid i need some help with this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/fix-s3-to-factory-unroot-stock-recovery-t2323847) guide i'm trying to follow.
Except nobody is answering on my reply so that's the reason why i'm opening a new thread. forgive me if this is not the right section.
I'm pretty noob in all this so i will try to explain my situation as good as possible so that you can help me in the best ways you can and want to do.
The beginning
about a half year ago i thaught it was cool to have a custom rom on my galaxy s3 GT-I9300.
I did this with the help of a friend.
I first adjusted the recovery to clockwork and installed cyanogenmod.
The exact details of my phone at this moment are:
modelnumber GT-I9300
Cyanogenmod-version
11-20140708-Snapshot-M8-I9300
Android version 4.4.4
Smalbandversion I9300XXUGNA8
Kernel version 3.0.64-CM-g5e96596
CPU ARMv7 processor rev 0 (v7I)
Build number CM_i9300-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84Pd9438c2c60 test-keys
I've got a new phone and want to give this phone to my sister or sell it.
I don't need it back to stock for warranty.
I just want to hand over a clean and simple phone.
The problems i'm running in to are...
I did download and install triangle and i tried to reset binary counter.
The counter stays at 1 and the kernel stays at custom. the last visable option says official after triangle.
I also did flash the original recovery with Odin, (jaj this worked) because i can start up in the original recovery mode and not in CWM.
Before i do a full wipe i want to know what the problem will be when i install stock firmware with a binary counter on 1.
And this leads me to my second more important problem.
I can't find which stock firmware i need.
When i try to dial the codes to look up which one you need. I get a error message that it isn't possible to view this information.
I personally think i need: Galaxy S 3 (International) GT-I9300 PRO I9300XXALF5 Android 4.0.4 07.06.2012 686526 Unlock
there are 2 mirrors on of which is not workiong and the other downloads at 50kb/s and stops at around 90 mb in of the 700 total file size.
Can anyone tell me which stock firmware i need and where to download it? i've searched google (ofcourse) but can't find any.
I live in belgium, this phone was bought in Belgium but i have a dutch simcard working in it from the provider youfone.
This is a sim-only provider and they use the network form a bigger company called KPN.
I really hope someone can help me with this because i'm too afraid to do something wrong and brick my phone.
Sorry for being a noob don't bash please!
Thanks in advance for all your replies!
Grtz
Just flash the latest stock firmware for your country using Odin then factory reset in recovery before booting. Download from sammobile.com
You are confusing yourself with all the other things you are trying.
