New Moto Soak Text for x2? - Motorola Droid X2

Just got an email, 2:48Est, for a new Soak test for the X2? What could this be?

Go for it and check it out and let us know. You can always sbf back. How do you get on their list?

nothing was on the servers thus far, btw

I signed up! I bet it is GB 2.3.5 or 2.3.6. With minor bug fixes...
Sent from my MB870 using XDA

I was thinking the same as litetaker. Moto and VZW just released some bug-fixes for the D2 and something else if I remember right. Probably the same with the X2. One thing I don't get is that they complain the LTE in the Tegra devices like the XOOM is what is holding up ICS since the WiFi version has it already. Basically the X2 is just a smaller XOOM and since it only has the CDMA portion why can't it run ICS. The Specs of my X2 are better than my Nexus S 4G and I have my ROM running 4.0.3 on that without issue. Being Tegra based they can't blame that unless there is something in the CDMA holding it up.

What rom are you running that is 4.0.3 on the x2???

Woot! Lets hope its a music fix finally... right guys? Right?

I signed up today as well... I am thinking the same thing... it has to be a bug fix update.
I can't see them getting ICS out this quickly considering it was only about a month ago when it was put on the 'might be considered list'.
Motorola might move that fast enough to get it done... but VZW is slow.

Where is people signing up at?

I never could find the sign up sheet. But then again can I run a stock rom? Lol don't think I can anymore. I will wait to see what's released and I am sure it will be on the forum soon and the developers can start using it.

Our luck its 2.3.5/412 or 413

No that nothing.
235/413 BUT with Pepperm1nts battery fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recieved the same email. Ill hold off since I see what happened to the original X with their latest update. Now they're stuck and can't even SBF to any older builds. No root? No thanks...I have learned to just be humble when it comes to updates now.

They can no longer sbf??? Wtf nevermind let someone else verify the update first. I don't trust moto they spend more time and money blocking root and development than fixing their own problems.

Thanks for the heads-up, I hadn't read about this issue until seeing your post. Motorola clearly hates their customer base, viewing them as sheep to callously monetize.
I don't mean to go all Richard Stallman here, but Moto can't be trusted--they let us know that with the locked bootloader. That said, the DX2 is my last device...and NO way will I be a part of this soak test.
Again, thanks for the heads up, cheers.

Thanks and good luck!

No, sorry.
No I didn't get any email.

How are you getting emails for updates? I've never gotten an email about any updates for this phone, Droid 1 or Droid x.
You have to be part of the motorola owners forum soak test application to get the email updates. I got mine 3+ hours ago.

Yes i was just talking about the email.. There have been NO releases, and honestly those that do get it are binder by an NDR so they really aren't suppose to talk about it..
Im sure it will be out latest tomorrow. My phone is ready to test.
Misleading title is very misleading...

wow gingerbread is amazingly fast on this phone only thing im noticing is that we were supposedly getting the same blur as the droid3 but its not (seems like less blur widgets and no animations?) but yeah, wow
Successfully installed. I had frozen a bunch of stuff and I was rooted. Before I installed the update I defrosted everything, unrooted and then uninstalled gingerbreak. I had no problem updating and I've never had to SBF my phone. Hope this helps. YAY GINGERBREADS ! ! ! <3

Newest Photon SBF Post-198_6(/7)??

So what's the next and newest SBF after 198_6(/7) and where can I find it?
I think that is the last official. Moto's site only lists 198_6.

If you go to the Motorola Owners Forum you will see a post talking about testers being needed. BEFORE you get all excited, look at the DATE!! It's an old post. According to Mark @ M O F they are not looking for Photon testers but they are looking for Atrix testers. Also if an OTA comes out there is rumors about maybe getting 1080p enabled on our MoPhos. There is another possibility. When the Electrify had it's OTA they wound up with an unlockable bootloader. I personally don't want the risk so I froze the updater and upgrader apk's using TiBu. If one comes out I'll wait and see what it does first.

Sorry but no I do not believe that out of everyone that owns the Maxx on this site, that you're the only one who got the OTA. Not for a second, the soak test hasn't even started yet which means Verizon hasn't even cleared the OTA yet.

Dude you need to lay off. He's nice enough to report he got the update, and even nicer to say he'll upload it. Why would he lie? What would he have to gain? He doesn't have to live up to your expectations.
And by the way, you could fake the method you posted, after changing your server in Cheesecake to 100, you can get the update prompt by going in to about phone > update.
Why would he lie about it? Its a software update on a phone, not a life changing experience.

I don't have an opinion about whether he received the update, but lots of people lie all the time about anything. Also, it was April 1st. I think skepticism was justified. You're welcome to believe everything you hear.
My girlfriend got an update notification yesterday on her MAXX too, but it only took her to 2.3.6, not 4.0.*
I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is testing with a few to see if there are issues with such a big update, but it would be known testers IMO.
Hoping its the real thing.

Janker. Why don't you go back to stock through Matt utility and try updating again. I wonder if the boot strap recovery blocking it. Cuz all you did was delete the the recovery apk
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
NO! I SHALL NOT BELIEVE THIS!!! Jk, people on the web are such dicks lol, good for you getting legit 4.0, I'm still stuck on 2.3.5 kernel lol
Lots of people believed this guy too. I was not one of them.
http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2012/03/human-bird-wings/
There are a lot of gullible people in the world.
I believe you, but if you want to make those of little faith eat some foot, (and make the rest of us super happy), drop the update.zip, it'd only take a quick adb pull , and I agree, you'll probably have to flash back to stock recovery, try using the voodoo ota root keeper to hide/recover su access and keep us updated!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
Seems there are always one or two people that get the OTA's early when they set it up for testing. Dude, if you got it, congrats!
I'm not sure I remember seeing it mentioned in your original thread, but did you sign up on the Feedback network for the SOAK tests, or was this just "random"?
Thanks for the pics. So it did happen. But you posted incredible news on April Fools Day. What did you expect? I once told a friend of mine some really good news April Fools Day. The problem is I am a big jokester. He refused to believe me. The thing was I didn't even realize it was April Fools Day!

I'm also curious, what are people complaining about? I've had my screen on for the last 4 hours customizing, playing with and generally enjoying ICS. I've yet to experience any issues whatsoever...? Genuinely wondering what problems people are having? Why would they put the ICS release candidate on their staging/soak server if it was riddled with bugs?
Hummmm
Have you people really used ICS I think its horrible even if they do get it working on these phones it still sucks! Just make the battery last a month on one charge and connect to any wi-fi without having to log in, and make apps shut off when you exit out of them. That's all we want out of our phones right??? We can only dream about having phones that work right there will always be someone with an issue with their phone as long as we are getting phones that do all these great things!! Sorry my little rant i'm just done hearing everyone saying when is ICS coming to our phones!! Everyone knows when they do release it thousands will install and instantly start having issues so then another update and another it will never end! How many phones that are out work perfectly? I probably wont even update to ICS when it comes I like the way my phone works now and know where everything is! If you want ICS just install a different launcher done!!
Back in February, everyone was screaming for ICS on their Asus Transformer. Now, the majority of people wished they never got it because it has caused nothing but grief for many (not all) owners. (lockups, random reboots, and general instability).

ICS soon live for Verizon users
