hi there,
just got my galxaxy tab 10.1v yesterday. and now i'm wondering how to find out in the market, which apps are written for honeycomb?
what i need is something like a filter-option, like with the ipad and the appstore. there the apps for the iphone and ipad are shown in different panes, and you can easily tell whether an app is for pad or phone.
thanks for your answers
Yes, a filter is definitely needed.
There is already a list of Honeycomb apps being built in this forum. It's pretty hard to miss - it's the thread right above yours

i do know this thread above, and there's a similar one in xoom-forum, too.
but those threads need to be updated by xda-members, e.g. when they "randomly" discover an app. so if no xda-member is willing to update those threads, you'll never get to know the latest apps for your beloved tab
such a filter in the market would automatically show those apps.
If you sign-on in the market and you click on the App name it tells you in the application is compatible with your device.

Not even necessary. If it shows up in the Market, then it's compatible with your device (according to the developer). Non-compatible apps are not shown.
HC optimized is another story. What people really seem to want is a filter for tablet optimized (not just compatible) apps. But for reasons I've pointed out in another thread on the same topic this isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

Somebody should start a google docs spreadsheet and ppl can update it by themselves.
Digita1One was right. The best way to check compatibility for now is logging into your market account on your computer and click on the app name, on the left side right below the name of the app, it tells it's compatible with your tab or not. Just showing up in your market on your tab doesn't mean those apps are compatible. Hope this helps.

Actually, the market on my tab shows both Facebook and words with friends but then does not allow me to install them.

As I said in post #5, its up to the developer/publisher to code the compatibility of the apps in the market listing. Google doesn't police the market the way that Apple does. Most developers do a good job and mark their apps appropriately; a small number do not.
People, I want to download a particular application, it is not "compatible" with my device, but it works fine, have already downloaded the app from third parties, but this application now was updated and do not found it anywhere, only in the market, but not let me download.
I've been reading about the market hacked, that would allow downloading app not compatible with my device? is to do this?

I tried searching for it on the market via my PC and it too says that its not compatible with my mini so I guess theres nothing you can do, maybe the new release isn't made to be used on our little phones. You could try the market hack but I doubt it would help you because WOW remote might have be written for HDPI (big screens) and not LDPI (our small screens) and so theres no way that it would work.
Its just one of those things buddy, not all apps are compatible with our phones, maybe they're jealous of our awesomeness and don't want to share!!
Then again, I may be wrong (about the compatibility... not the awesomeness)

The old version might have worked on HDPI and LDPI but the new only supports HDPI because the majority of android phones are HDPI
I'm not really sure what a market hack does, think its to allow you to either to download apps made users of phones on certain carriers (AT&T etc.) or to download/ unlock paid apps... which is NOT COOL and WRONG!!
It won't effect the compatibility problem you having, if its not compatible with your phone then no "hack" will make it compatible, bottom line.
I could be wrong, Google might hold more accurate answers...

It just fools Google into thinking that you have a phone with an hVGA display. A lot of apps meant for hVGA displays works great on a qVGA, it's just that the app developer hasn't enabled it for qVGA screens. So it might work for the app you're trying to download.
I am enlightened
Thank you
I can't find it on the Android Marketplace or Amazon App store (just standard version).
Found it on "unofficial sites" but I want to buy an official copy.
Any ideas?
Ill bump this- I'm interested also, I can't find it anywhere

Unfortunately I'm not sure it's possible for non-US android users, there's been talk for ages now about the fact that it was supposed to come to the android marketplace but still no sign of it Damn US-only amazon marketplace...
Edit - Sorry, just noticed you were referring to an 'HD' version specifically. Do you mean a tablet-optimised version, or just higher-spec one? Just wondering because I've never heard about an android HD version

Both standard and HD versions are available on "unofficial" sites if you do a Google search for the APK file, however I wish to purchase an official copy, to show support and because at the moment, non-official APKs can be injected with viruses etc. even if the permissions requested seem normal.
Google Play really seems to be a relaunch of the market, books and music. They've basically just changed the names. Still, it sounds cool
What do you think?

I kind of get the idea, but Google Play? Seriously...? That's the best name they could come up with? ಠ_ಠ
A: Dude, I found an epic app!
B: Really? What's it called?
A: Search for [app name here] on Google Play
Just doesn't sound right

Also, there's one good part about it. A couple of apps are 50 cents

No difference, although Amazon really need to open up the appstore to other nations now.
Is there a new APK now it's known as Google Play?
Aw, market.android.com redirects to play.google.com
Anyone have the new Play Store apk?

I was just playing music in Google Music, it paused, crashed, and then Google Play took over exactly where I left off in the song.
Damn, that was seamless.
though Google Play isn't available in Italy yet, where can i get google play APKs?

Its basically just a name change, and I saw on droidlife all froyo and newer devices will get the new "play" market update pushed.

As most features like music and movie rent arent available in my country the change is mostly a non issue for me - but the thing about how newer apps will be on their cloud and not our phone looks a bit worrying, what about people without an unlimited data plan?
It's insulting! We love Android, stop calling it Google thiss or that.
Where the droid on the MARKET?
FU Google
I love the new design.
The name may not be awesome but it's still a name, it's better than the generic "Market" that leaves no impression after hearing it.

Google Play is just a Rebranding of Android Market
Check out this page that talks about how "Google Play" is just a rebranding of the Android Market, yet has so many possibilities for what will come next...
http://www.orangeandjuicy.com/google...ndroid-market/
I'm not sure what I think about the name "Play" yet. Not sure if that is very descriptive of reading a book.
But the roll-out was quite seamless and well done.
Hate it. the PLAY is really unprofessional, didn't Google lean ANYTHING from the failure of the PLAYBook by RIM.
It failed because of it's name.
(and it's OS had **** apps)

No, its not that. Large programs usually games, will have a small apk that installs and then once it launches it downloads additional data on the device using the developer's server usually. You don't know how large the additional content will be until you install the app. Now the additional content can be hosted on Google's servers so you will know just how big a game, etc really is before you download it and updates to games will also be easier to push.
Hi! Is there any way to sort search results on the Google market e.g. after downloads or views or rating? Thanks.

Not currently possible in the app, but it should be possible on the website.
Yeah on the website it works but whyyyy is Google not integrating it in the app.
Isn't there the possibility to integrate this function in a mod somehow?
Thx

Even on the website, the only options are by Popularity and by Relevance.
I wish i could sort by Rating, by Developer, alphabetically...
google seems to make it on purpose not to let you sort the results... MADAFAKAZ!! :x

It can barely find information about anyone asking about sorting results from play store. xda developers must be only ones who think outside the box.
How we can make it sort every search results as i want.
Like downloads, stars e.t.c.?
Sorting seems to have been removed from the website as well. Damn it Google, why must you turn everything to ****.
I've just had to reinstall after a full reset, and this has to be one of the worst aspects of the play store. I wish I understood programming, but is there anyone can make an app to fix this lack of sortability and lack of filtering?
I'm with @Newtoys, why does google always go one step to far and mess up perfectly good things?
Agreed: Google makes it Harder, not Easier!
Searching for a small business collaboration app
Only returns results with app that have the word "collaboration" in the title?
If I was a developer, I would be reluctant to ever get involved,
how are potential customers supposed to find your App if you don't give it a name that sound too much alike all the other apps in the same category.
And Furthermore: I don't care about the icon, I want to be able to scan an encapsulation of the capacity of the app... Who cares what color the button is going to be on my screen !!!
If Google is the "Ultimate Search Engine" why then can't I use a Google search to go through the Play Store Apps..?
NO !!! Instead it returns a listing of Other Web Sites and the Apps that they recommend ?
I am with you guys on this. Been wondering this for years now. I also found it weird that when I try and Google search this issue, this thread is the only one relevant to our problem. I'd be willing DL a modified play store app even. The worst is when I want to see about any new/updated apex themes and I have to browse a library of themes I've seen before.

lol, exact same f##@ up when im going thru Layers themes !! Usually we need the latest updated themes since they work as expected with updated AOSP Roms...but stupid google wont let me sort a list of apps by the 'last updated' date !!
Any 3rd party apps that browse the entire play store app catalogue and have the ability to sort them by their last updated date ?
same here... i want to sort apps by it size since the day start using play store but never see such feature or any proper useful sorting method in play store.. and when google for sprting apps, i end up right here... hope some1 has the solution for this... seriously...
