Using cleanrom 3.6 and all of a sudden I've seem to lost root privileges. Can't access root explorer or TB, etc. What's the easiest way to fix this?

If you have Amon Ra Recovery, it should be a simple task of using it to reinstall and Scroll to and enter the Developer menu and use install Su (Not the Eng Version)

just did that. still no root? i cant even update superuser, i get "gaining root access... fail!"
I think you need to update it from Market, er... Play, then it should work.
Oh, wait... I see you said you're getting an error... Do you have a backup of it not in Titanium, like with AppMonster or something?
if amonra works, backup the rom and since don't know the exact problem, ruu then start over.
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22680227&postcount=1036 and download the attachment and flash it.
EDIT: lol backup before flashing ha unless you already flashed it

I had to flash a SU.zip to get mine back when I lost it.
Amon Ra's root wouldn't stick.

Have a look and download if you want.
Works just fine on 1.9.0 and should work in 345.

Check the file that is downloaded, I had to update it as I put the wrong one up initially.
Downloaded file should be UOT-04-23-17-03-3.
This has been corrected.
Thanks for the kind input.

What method are you using to do the install?
I have only installed via RECOVERY. (StreakMod or ClockworkMod)

Maybe try to download it again. Perhaps it has become corrupt.
Clockwork normally works better than StreakMod for this.
The redownload worked... Thanks
Any chance we can get this same battery meter and set of icons but make the icons a darker blue like the new blue update in your other thread?
Thanks
Sure, I will give it a go later today. I will update this thread.

Anyone else have this issue? To install the new market I had to use my system app remover, and I wonder if that's what went wrong. I have the AT&T 2.3.4 rom and am (obviously) rooted, unlocked bootloader, yada yada yada...
When I click an app or game it will go through the screens until I hit "Install" and then pops up this:

Any suggestions? Or does anyone have an APK of the original market I can install? I think it was listed as vending or android.vending or something like that.
(Note to self: back things up before removing them = )
Once I backup my market i will post link. backing up now.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WTRCI35D
Its the vending.apk should revert you back to working market
try if dont work let me know.
Just use the app manager to uninstall the update. That's what I did to get back to the old version.

Thanks, market looks like old one, but now I get force close more frequently, after clicking pretty much anything. Like as soon as I click "Games" at the top I have force close now. I must have removed something important when I uninstalled the old market... I don't use the market enough to really care that it's gone though, and any app that I find there I could just sideload I guess. If it bothers me enough I'll just re-flash. Thanks for the help guys.
flash 2.3.4 system.img via fastboot just the system should fix it
I had to do that once or twice
Thanks I'll try that right now, just backing up all my apps and stuff. I'll try just flashing system, and then won't restore the market app when I restore backups if it works. I'll post back results in case this happens to anyone else.
Update: Flashing just system worked like a charm, still have all my apps and all too! Thanks for the suggestion Xenocyde!
Does anyone have the APK for the original samsung widgets for the memo app?

Memo. apk and everything else here.
I couldn't get it to install at all last week, maybe I was missing the widget apk, is that seperate from the actual memo.apk? Got it as an update in a custom ROM in the end.

You could try the DarkyOTA app from the market. It installed apks OTA fine for me, but nothing that was on my sd - which it is meant to.
Have you tried installing with cwm manager?

Hi all,
Well my friend had his phone rooted, he got an OTA Update, I warned him not to do an OTA update if his phone is rooted as it may mess things up, he's still an android n00b lol. Anyways he's seeking for help as he got the following error messages
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

I predict the solution is to re-root/re-flash CWM?? He was on CWM 6.4 btw
Also should I advice him to delete the OTA files via root explorer??
Thanks in advance

I think you are confused, he used CF Root 6.4 which gives CWM 5.5
The OTA files should have gone now as they have been used.
Yes re-root will give root permissions again.
All that message means is that the cwm manager app won't work directly with that version of recovery.....our at least some of the features won't work.
If he boss into recovery with 3 button combo all features will be there.
I have this due to the fact I stick with the old recovery that doesn't use blobs to create nandroid backups, so in conclusion, nothing to worry about at all
Thanks for the reply....but making nandroid backups is very important for him...will he still be able to do it??

No No...i'm not confused at all, I know that CF-Root 6.4 gives CWM 5.5
so the ota files are not there forever? they go once an update is made?? hmmmm never knew that

Maybe you could connect your N10 to ddms and get the URL of the update file it's trying to load?
Sounds like it's already downloaded.... "restart and install", if rooted, look in /cache and copy out the .zip and the hash file as they will be deleted when installed.....
That's the 4.2 - JOP40C update everyone gets when get their devices... after that you will get one more to update to 4.2.1 - JOP40D
If i'm rooted, what's gonna happen if I install & restart?!
I don't know about the 4.2.1 update but when the first update installed I had to reinstall CWM and root again.
4.2.1 install broke root but I preserved my root with Voodoo OTA rootkeeper before getting the download. After the install was complete and I lost root, went into voodoo and restored root. Super easy. Everything still has access and all new apps that need root access get it.

I did the same thing without any issues. However, it did revert my TWRP recovery back to stock. I just went back into the bootloader, connected it to my PC and run "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.3-manta.img" to reflash back to the TWRP recovery. It was good to go!! :good:
