so this is weird...i have a few networks saved, but when i reboot or at other random intervals when wifi is turned off and back on, my phone will not reconnect to my wifi network, it finds a random open one and automatically connects.
how can i fix this?
rooted using saurom as well.

This seems to be a problem with android itself. Wifi never automatically connects to saved networks when in range.
I have to use an app called wifi fixer to monitor my wifi connection- it connects to a wifi network that I have saved when it is in range.
Below were my original questions I posted in the general section by mistake. After a lot of searching I found the folder organizer app can create short cuts to folder or categories for apps. So I can have a short cut in the launcher that goes to all my games, or utilities.
I haven't figured out how to make the cell radio being turned of be persistent. So I just have my device set to airplane mode- but when I reboot it I have to turn the wifi back on.

1. I'm on StreakDroid 1.6.0 and everything is gravy cept for WIFI not connecting automatically. That seems to be a problem with Android itself. For me it is a problem because I'm not using a dataplan because I get free wifi through my cable co. I'm using csipsimple with my old gizmo5 account that I bought with my n810.
2. Does any launcher do app draws? I'm using Launcher pro and it would be nice if I could put a folder in the dock to store all my games.
3. Anyone know if I can use 2 bluetooth controllers with this on emulators? I'm still waiting on my Datel classic wiimote but it would be awesome if I could use two controllers.
4. How do I remove the No Sim card message? I use this as a wifi device and I had it set to airplane mode for a while but then I found the app "any cut" and made a short cut to turn off the cell radio. Apparently if I have it set to airplane mode it turns off wifi by default- and I thought that was the reason why wifi doesn't connect automatically but I still have to manually initialize wifi. I have wifi set to never sleep btw*
5. Turning off the cell radio isn't a persistent setting it seems. Does the cell radio still use battery power if there's no sim card in the device?

Streak WIFI Issues
I am having the same problem. Running 2.2 with 318 baseband. Phone can find wifi but will not stay connected. Phone goes into an endless cycle of connecting and immediately disconnecting. I am able to get WIFI to work by putting the phone into airplane mode. Anyone have a fix??
Are you using the stock rom or dj_steve's? I've heard of people getting disconnected from wifi if the signal is weak. There's a way to turn of data on 3g under wireless settings. I believe that would prevent it from switching between 3g and wifi connections.
I don't really have this problem though. Once it connects to one of my saved networks it stays connected. It's just that android doesn't do this automatically when a saved network is in range.
WIFI Issues
I'm on stock rom. WIFI signal doesnt seem to be in the issue as I have been within 5 feet of the router and had the issue happen. I'm reluctant to turn 3G off as I need it on to make and receive calls in my house via Microcell.
You probably have to change that setting under wifi that puts the wifi radio to sleep when the screen turns off. I have mine set to never.
You may also want to run wifi fixer- which will automatically reconnect you when you get disconnected.
I'm going to try this:

The 2 programs that I use have helped me with my WIfi issues. Its not 100% but it does work 95+% for me.

Try rebooting your wireless router. I have 2 netgear wgr614's. One at home, the other at work. After several connect/disconnects, it goes in the connecting/disconnecting loop until I reboot the router. Go figure...
What I did that seems to have worked is to set up a static IP address instead of having the router assign it for me (DNS). Since then my Wifi connects every time. I could be wrong but it seems to have worked for me.

You mean DHCP not DNS. Mine always connects when tuurning wifi on but if left on and my streaks sleeps for an extended amount of time it will not connect till I turn wiring off then back on. I also have wifi sleep policy set to never. Had that issue with nexus one as well.

Anyone with the Amaze 4G for T-Mobile USA notice that it often doesn't connect to remembered WiFi networks even though they are in range and it will only connect if you go to view WiFi settings/networks under settings then it connects?
Also, anyone have any issues connecting to WiFi networks where the SSID is not being broadcast? I can get it to connect initially but it will never reconnect to a hidden SSID network that it "remembers"?
Using stock gingerbread ROM.
I notice this happens every now and then... I will have to open my WiFi networks, then before I can click on the network, it refreshes. It happens only rarely for me, but I have noticed it at times

glad im not the only one, sometimes when i get home i have to go to the wifi settings and refresh the scan, after i been home for several minutes,
had seen this on stock and faux kernel
Hi,
You probably already noticed that by your self..
When you're downloading something over 3G, and you turn the WIFI on during the process, there is no problem because it authenticates and connects the WIFI network and meanwhile keeps the 3G still alive.. it only shuts it off when the WIFI is completely connected and therefore the download is not hanging off..
Unfortunately it was not programmed backward.
When you are on WIFI and turning off the WIFI to move to 3G, or perhaps when you were at home and now walking away the range and so it automatically disconnects it, so it leaves the WIFI first and few seconds later it trigger the 3G and connect it..
During those few seconds you lose the connection and if you were on downloading process it hangs off..
So I was thinking, why not force the 3G on, connects, and only then, hang off the WIFI..
Any app that can do that? or any developer that might wanna pick up the glove?
I'm sure it will help few others but me..
Thanks ahead!
My wifi is blinking and wont connect... just started happening.
Wont even connect, eventually just fails and yeah... :c
Have you tested on another wifi network?

Its not the network. The wifi itself loops. The icon flashes and says turning on wifi but it never works
Yeah, occasionally I'll get disconnected from my home and work Wi-Fi. It's annoying. Used to never happen on my nexus 5.
Have you tried rebooting your router?
Have you removed the Wi-Fi from your list of saved Wi-Fi, reboot phone, than reinstalled the Wi-Fi?
The wifi randomly disconnects and with the error: Authentication Problem. The phone wont reconnect to another wifi hotspot until I manually make it do it. This happenns on the 5GHz band (I haven't tested it on 2.4). This problem doesn't happen with any other device connected to the same wifi router. Does anyone know what could cause this problem?
I had a similar problem where my G5 took ages to connect to WiFi and then it would randomly disconnect.
Try deleting every saved WiFi network you have, except for the ones you use. Just long press each one and hit "forget".
See if that fixes your problem.
I have only 2 saved networks (the 2 bands: 2.4 and 5). The wifi worked without any issue for the last two weeks until yesterday when the phone disconnected with the Authentication Problem error. I have to mention that the phone connects immediately to the wifi if I manually select the network and when I turn on the wifi.
I would then suggest the problem is with the network.
Either reset your network (unplug router, wait, replug) or try with a different WiFi.
I had an outage a week ago and that problem persisted until my provider fixed their problem. These "authentication" issues can be from anything network related.
I will try with another router. The annoying part is that I cannot reproduce the error manually, it's way too random.
