The SII firmware and SII apps of this forum do not work on my SII I9100g.
I asked Samsung and they said SII stuff should work on my brand new SII.
Apps should work, but please stay away from I9100 firmwares. They are absolutely NOT compatible with the G version.
Didn't we sort of already have this discussion here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502087&page=3
Of course, you didn't say anything about apps, but seemed convinced that flashing CM9 on an I9100G was a good suggestion to give to others. (which it's NOT, by the way)
As 3xeno said, apps work fine. Firmwares do not.

I997 = Infuse. I9100 ROMs will not work on the Infuse.
They will also not work directly on the I777 without some effort to port the ROM.
If you followed XDA rule #1 (search before posting), you would know this. The method for porting I9100 ROMs to I777 is well documented in the I777 forums.
I'm an immigrant from the iphone, and I've recently purchased and rooted my Samsung Galaxy S II LTE[/URL]. I've downloaded ROM Manager to backup and flash a new ROM, but when I try to run ClockworkMod Recovery it doesn't list my exact phone under the 'Confirm Phone Model' - the closest match is "Samsung T-Mobile GalaxyS2"
Now rather than just jump ahead and try it, I thought I'd ask for help first. I've tried some browsing on the forums here, but I can't find my exact phone there either. Any ideas?

Good thing you checked, too, because you're in the wrong forum. This is for I9100 - the international Galaxy SII.
The only LTE version of the Galaxy SII that I know of is the SGH-I727, and as far as I know, currently only available on AT&T in the US, and Rogers (as the SGH-I727R) in Canada. You want to be in this forum instead.
Whoops. Thanks for the tip.
Hi to,
Galaxy S2 i9100G is still a long time,
but why arent so much custome roms in maket, special ICS roms?
With source code and libs from GB you can build one.
But no one does it.
Why?
Only for galaxy s2 i9100.
Is it more difficult to i9100?
Thanks
Bye
I don't know the answer to your question but why don't you have a go at an ICS rom.
I'm having a go on the gt-i9100 and it is good fun even though I'm not very good .
GT-I9100G ? what's that? ANSWER IS, NO one have it. Why don't you do it?
Hi,
ok. Samsung first galaxy s2 i9100 was with samsung cpu and gpu.
This has chanced.
Alle new samsung galaxy s2 are i9100G!
This modell has got a omap 4430 cpu and SGX 540 GPU.
So its not the same as the old one.
So i cant flash i9100 ics over this.
Tell me how to do this?
We have to chance lib files, driver etc.
I hope it is clear, what i want.
Id like to know, why no one create an ics from for the version 2 of galaxy s2.
This is build since 01.01.2012 in europa.
THanks
Please use the search. You will definitely find some
But no ICS :-((

There is not official release of ICS on the i9100G. That's actually why there is not custom rom with ICS on this version.
The official ICS firmware has been released on 15 March for i9100. Got to wait for the i9100G.
according to samsung will official release ics for g version at end of april 2012

I understand that mods hate these sorts of questions,
But I can say that I have tried 2 different kernals, both didn't work and I was forced to Re-flash my stock ROM back.
I have searched for hours, none of which were similar enough to my situation to be helpful.
My aim is to root, and just root, my Galaxy S2 I9100T running ICS 4.0.3 on Vodafone Australia.
The kernal version is 3.0.15-I9100TDULPB-CL710191 Please keep in mind that my phone it the 'T' model i9100.
I have tried 2 kernals from Chainfire > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
They were called
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5 and
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5-PROPER
Both of these made my phone unable to boot past the Samsung Galaxy SII page.
I came to the conclusion that perhaps the CF-root method was not intended for the i9100T model?
I have heard good reviews about the Siyah kernel? Although I have no idea which kernal to flash.
If any one has a recommendation on a modded kernel, please give me the actual link to the download as it will save me a lot of time
Any help is appreciated
Search/ look for 'Root SII without flashing an insecure kernel' under Original Development section.
That method should work for you since you are on ICS.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Mate just install syiah kernel + extweak apk u will get root + customizTion

To start off this post, I am very sorry if this has already been posted/answered on here. I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find it.
Okay, onto the question. I recently installed ROM Manager on my Galaxy Player 5.0 (YP-G70) It has the touch sensitive buttons on the bottom, not a physical button, if that helps clarify which device I have at all. Anyway, when I go into Rom manager to Flash clockwork recovery, It asks me to confirm the phone model. I get a list with these phones (and this is all of them)...
Galaxy Tab - ATT
Samsung Charge
Samsung Epic4G
Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Samsung Galaxy Tab (T-Mobile)
Samsung Galaxy Tab (VZW)
Samsung GalaxyS Captivate
Samsung GalaxyS Fascinate
Samsung GalaxyS Vibrant
Samsung GalaxyS i9000
Samsung Indulge 910
Samsung Indulge 915
Samsung Sidekick 4G
Obviously, Samsung galaxy player is not on this list. I don't know which one to choose. I know I have seen other Galaxy Player 5.0 users (on youtube tutorials etc...) with the same player I have, and I have made sure that Rom Manager is updated in case there were updates including my version, but it turned out that I was already up-to-date.
If you can help me out in any way, thank you.

First off, you have the USA model (with all capacitive [light up] buttons). To my knowledge, there is no support for the Galaxy Player (any model) in the ROM Manager app. I am not sure what YouTube videos you are referring to, and I am equally unsure of what they would have been talking about in those videos. The only way I can think of that you could tweak the device to make ROM Manager compatible is to change the device ID in the build.prop file in system root. And, I am not sure if that is OK to do, or not.
Sorry I could not give you a more definitive answer on that front.
As for CWM recovery, you have to use the software, ODIN to flash a device-compatible kernel which has CWM recovery built into it. There is a kernel (or 2) for the USA Galaxy Player 5.0 that has CWM recovery built in. You have to use ODIN to flash it on your device.
If you don't know anything about this procedure there are lots of good threads in the development section with thorough explanations on ODIN and flashing ROMs and kernels to your device.
Good luck.
Put the player in download mode (back+volume down+power). Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445840 and start odin, click the pda button and choose the file and connect your phone and press start, flashing the kernel will take approx. 5 seconds and your phone will reboot automatically.

NEVER USE ROM MANAGER! IT WILL BRICK YOU. Ok, now that that's settled, the previous poster is correct, you need Entropy512's kernel, as CWM is part of the kernel for this device. The instructions above will work for the ".tar" file (the oldest release), or you can do it any of the other ways listed in that thread.
