hey guys i updated my galaxy s2 today to ics using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
but after its in stalled my phone keeps turning off after a minute or so, is there a way of getting back to the orignal firmware (so kies will recognise it again) or how to get ics working properly??
re-install stock ics through odin that will sort it out had same issue this morning. i downloaded the 1 package file from the galaxy s2 general forum.
All you have to do is tick then click on the tab PDA, find the rom in your pc downloads folder and click start works a charm now
Tapped from a modded GS2

hey guys today i installed SGS tools and in there i started checking phone codes.. And then i went into touch screen firmware. and i updated firmware. Now Menu, Home, Back, Search key arent working. PLZ PLZ help. What i should do now.
1st this should be in Q & A so next time please post there........
If your phone actually tried to update firmware, then you may need to reflash whatever rom you had on it.
This happened to my friend, what I did was reflash his phone back to stock and then reflashed the custom rom. But, he really jacked the phone up,
Without knowing more that is the gist of the needed sequences to rectify this problem.
Thanx for reply..
Sorry for posting in Development thread.
Anyways keys are working now. What i did is flashed stock ROM using ODIN and updated the touchscreten firmware again. And now everything is working.

Experiencing a battery drain... will try to keep this update for a few days and then revert ...
Firstly i'd like to start off by apoligizing in advanced as i am sure i have posted in the wrong section.
I have a samsung galaxy s GT-I9000;
Currently running:
2.3.3
Baseband - I9000SRJV1
Kernel - 2.6.35.7-19000XWJVN-CL366455
Build number - GINGERBREAD.XWJVN
Basically when trying to update in Kies i get the this version cannot be updated message (as i have found all over these forums).
I want to restore back to an official Kies version so that I can update officially.
I do apoligize if there is already another thread which would solve my problem but on my searching I couldn't find one.
What would be the best way to get to an official Kies release (which i can update in kies at a later time).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just in case you need to know; It is an Australian phone.

A friend "helped" me over the phone to root my galaxy s2 for the first time. The info he referred me to was from androidflip . com - In there I had to flash the pit file and csc and modem - It also instructs to keep the repartition checked...I found all this contrary to instructions on xda...
Anyway,
Since then I have discovered on this forum/site that I didnt need to do it this way. Also I am having trouble flashing ANY ROM - The only success I have had is with Omega v3.0 but other than that I find myself flashing and reflashing because I am stuck on the screen with the yellow triangle.
I need help trying to get my phone back to how it was before I started all this and then follow instructions from this reputable source and maybe then I might have some luck flashing my phone...
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am new to unlocking and flashing ROMs on Mobiles. I did my research and when I was ready I unlocked my phon and then I flashed the firmware. I used Odin 3.07 and loaded the stock firmware file into the PDA section and hit start, waited and it passed. My Firmware was:
PDA:L12 / PHONE:L12 / CSC:LE1(O2I) and when I flashed the firmware( S5830iXXMD1_S5830iBTUMD1_S5830iXXMD1_HOME.tar.md5) it ended up as:
PDA:MD1 / PHONE:L12 / CSC:MD1(O2I).
As you can see it did not alter the PHONE part of the installed firmware and the O2I I thought would have changed to BTU. The phone was however unbranded. Later I flashed it with a newer stock firmware and a similar thing happened, the PHONE part was not changed only the PDA and CSC.
Is this normal or am I missing something. Should I be using a different version of Odin to flash the 3 individual parts of the FW I got using Cygwin/splitfus2 or can I stll use ver 3.07 to apply the 3 individual parts.

Not really, you could have answered the question in the time it took you to post that but then maybe you don't know the answer.

You do know that Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i have different hardware. Hence the different device thread. I could suggest you an answer for sure. But I will not be liable if that solution bricks your phone. Are you up for it? And you could have posted this question in the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i Q/A section by the time you replied to my answer. Then again maybe you don't understand my answer.
