creakiness near charging port??? - Sony Tablet S

I have noticed that my 10 day old TabS has a little creakiness at the charging port on the back where the grey plastic meets the black rear of the screen. It has a MM or two of play. Not a big deal, but I am wondering if I should exchange it before my 2 weeks expire.

Well, if yours was creaky, and 5 other people responded that theirs were creaky than I wouldn't bother. Hence the reason for the thread.
Thanks

In fact mine is also creaky at the upper left corner(near the headphone jack) and I went back to the store to replace it.
Go exchange it if there is an exchange policy, the sound is annoying!

Suggestions - Right side creaking

Well I've just noticed the right side of my tablet has a creak to it. Seems a little loose and am not sure what to do. Am I correct in assuming that the creaking will just get worse in time and potentially come apart completely? Anyone else experiencing this?
Not sure what to do. I've got until Jan. 24th to return it to Best Buy but other than this issue, I love this thing and don't want to get rid of it since the chances of getting a replacement are extremely slim.
I have seen several people comment about the right side seems loose. The bottom right area in the black trim area has a little noise and creak in it when tapped or pressed on mine. My middle left screen area has a little clunk in it when tapped like the glass has a slight gap between in and the screen behind.
I have considered returning mine also because of this but if it is normal, I don't want to since I may get one that is worse. Everything else works fine with mine.
Mine Loose Too
Just got my gray prime 64 yesterday and I did notice the right side of the screen seems loose and protrudes up further than the rest of the display. It almost seems like there might be something too bulky below it preventing it from laying flat.
I have it to, but to the right of the charger slot. It seems like a common issue. You have months worth of repair warranty so if it gets worse you can always send it to ASUS and they'll likely repair it.

Is it really all of them? I've been keeping a list of things to look out for once Amazon finally ships my Prime and I didn't think this is an unavoidable issue (as with GPS). Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
same
I am experiencing the same creaking on the right bezel, about 3/4 of the way up. It was not creaking right out of the box, it started after about 5 days of heavy usage. I am not too worried about it at the moment.
( note: this is my first complaint about my tfp, I love my prime.)
I have slight creaking near the volume rocker. its my only gripe with my device. I rarely if ever hear it, but I know its there and it bugs me.

Does this come with the typical, one year warrenty? How do you even get in contact with them for a repair? This is only getting worse I've noticed and I also have 8 dead pixels. I really want a brand new one but doesn't look like any of my Best Buy's around me are going to get them anytime soon. How do I go about getting them to fix it?
Must be more an issue with the 64s. My two 32 models didn't have this issue.
I've tried out 3 Primes (Champagne 32GB, 2X Gray 32GB), and none have had this issue.

I wish mine wasn't as bad as it is. It's to the point where I won't even hold it with my right hand because I'm afraid it'll break it.
Yes - mine creaks too in a few spots.
But it is not that bad....
Mine is on the top left. Feels like the front panel is loose. I emailed asus about it yesterday hopefully they respond soon.

You might get lucky and actually find an entire Rezound for parts for cheap if you look around. People get rid of these things all the time for broken screens or whatever else.

+1. Same here. Popped it out to fix screen issues one too many times and red wire is now loose.
Just found this and ordered one. Will report back whether it works. Willing to take a $7.75 (incl. shipping) chance, since most of the "as is" and/or "for parts" rezounds are desparately overpriced you-know-where. Note also, Repairs Universe does *not* carry this vibrate motor.

Nope, not yet. I did, however, secure an Evo 3D motor elsewhere and installed it today. Works just fine.
There are others still there. Here's what my search results revealed just today.
I think the units with the white connectors that match the Rezound connectors are probably fairly stock. I'm getting ready to sell the Rezound I replaced it in (bad proximity sensor; already have a replacement unit), but if I still have it when this other one arrives from overseas, I'll give it a whirl (unless I can tell from looking at it that it's the same thing), and report back.
Anything on this could help me too. It seems mine has malfunctioning vibrator too. I haven't noticed this until weekend, I had stock and not having so much calls so I can't say if it vibrates good, I flashed Cyanogenmod and notice the bug, in stock it doesn't vibrate and I'm thinking this is hardware related so your info will be valuable

Thanks for your answer hgoldner, a friend and I must buy some motors for a couple of Rezound that need one, in the link of ebay you provide in your post of May 7th seems like HD 2 vibrator fits too. We'll try and get back to this thread to let you guys know which one works for us
Sorry for the super late reply. Ended up getting a s3 and put the rezound in the draw. Just went and revived it and fixed the screen and got a vibrator motor for it from ebay. It seems like almost all htc motors work. I got an EVO 3d one and it works like a charm.

May take you up on that - my motor is almost completely dead. I see where it is when the back cover is off - is it just a matter of removing the four small screws on the red shield to get to the motor?

It's 6 screws, but yes, that's it. It's easily visible once you remove that plastic plate. Using a small flathead screw-driver you can pull the connector from the port, and the motor itself lifts easily out of the mount. Then all you do is plug in the replacement motor and slip it into position and you should be good to go.
We finally bought the replacement from etradesupply. This part seems to get easy damaged so I recommend every Rezound owner to get one replacement if he/she wants to have the Rezound for a couple of years
I gotta get a replacement also. I order one from Totobay also.
Stupid question from not a very handy guy, what screw driver do I need to open the back from the rezound?
thanks

I was able to successfully install the vibrator I got from Tatabay (took about a month to arrive from china). It fit fine but the attached cable is longer than the Rezound one which you must have to loop around. The main difference is tough that the weighted metal part that spins is actually smaller than the original and therefore the vibration it produces is more high pitched than the original. Not a huge deal but just thought I'll let you guys know that it's not exactly the same.

[Q] screen not flush with metal

Let me start by saying I know am a bit ocd. The top of my screen is raised above the metal. Not a lot, but enough to notice every time I pull the notification bar down. Is this common with all of yours or a flaw with my unit in particular. I can feel the sharp edge of the glass when I pull down.

My screen is very slightly raised at the top, very very slightly, and at the bottom it is lower than the spkr grille by exactly as much as it is above it at the top. I consider it to be perfect.
I have it too, it's one of those things that's probably a defect but I like. When I take it out of my pocket it's handy to be able to tell which side is the top with my thumb as I take it out.
On a side note though: I've unlocked the BT and flashed a recovery/rooted, I take it there's no way for me to return it even if I wanted to?

the top of my screen is a little raised. not that big of a deal to me though. i doubt id be able to walk into an AT&T store to get a replacement since i have the 64GB version and i dont want to deal with the hassle of shipping it back to AT&T. plus i already paid for 2 years of insurance through ensquared.

Defective!!!

picked up my phone earlier this afternoon, (preorder 32gb) 1st im told that my wireless hdmi will arrive at a later date, when i open up my box once im home i see that the top speaker grill did not adhere properly. only half of it is sitting right (camera side) but the half with the sensors is floating ever-so slightly. i am in love with the phone but this is really bothering me. i can clearly see the red adhesive and some is even on the side of the phone. after a quick phone call to at&t i was told i can go back to the store i which i pre-ordered and recieve a new phone.
picture with the headphone port shows a normal adhered corner and the other shows the gap on the grill
Has anyone else had a problem like this?
so take it back get it replaced

Very similar to mine but not quite as bad as what your pic shows. I decided not do anything because it is purely a cosmetic issue and you have to look really hard on mine to see it plus all my parts are aligned spot on so everything is flush with no over hang. If I had yours I would take it back to the store and demand another 32 GB asap. They should have em. 64 GB will take some time to reach stores so I may decide later to exchange.
You have a one year warranty so you could wait too. Remember iPhone 5 had similar quality issues at launch.
Lol, I'm just waiting for mine to come in. I presume I will get one that has a perfect body, but a dead pixel or two, I will then return it for one with a flawless screen, but screwed up body, and then be forced to live with it.
I went to a store to buy mine and made them open the box before I took it

mine has a very slight gap, similar to yours on the right side, except mine is more uniform. I think it's the fact that it's glued on. personally I'm not worried, but yeah if it bothers you go demand another one. they promised you zero gap construction, if you don't thin theyve met that promise you go back till you get one that does bro.
Guys, anyone has dead pixels on their Ones? Got them on two of mine....any idea how many considered defective by HTCs standards?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
I called AT&T and they told me to go to my nearest store and they would replace it, even if it were a minor cosmetic defect it would still worry me. Even the slightest bit of water could go in through a gap like that and damage anything or even worse activate a water strip forcing you to go through Insurance for such a new phone. They were pleasant and accommodating over the phone, I'm glad it was an easy fix.....
Now I'm just sitting here staring at the phone, it makes no sense to do anything software wise to it because I'm going to return it in the morning..... No fun for me today

Dead pixels is a definite return in my book.
Wow!!I was wondering it's only me or a wide spred issue. Now I know it's not just me. My phone looks perfect at the top but the bottom has imperfections. I had the same issue with mine, and the store manager said he would only exchange it if it had three dead pixals. The phone had about five dead pixals but in two different clusters which made it seem like only two pixals, due to the high dpi. The store manager than called att and asked what he should do because he was only able to see two dead spots/pixals. They probably told him it was up to him and that the defective pixals should be clearly seen with the naked eye. He refused to exchange it because he felt uncomfortable not being able to see more than two dead spots/pixals. I tried a different store with much success. Probably because the store manager was so understanding of the issue.
I went to the store and replaced mine. The first one they showed me has the same issue (uneven flow of construction with the bottom speaker top) and pulled another one which still suffers with similar issue but not that evident. I took the second one and left. It looks like the bottom part of the phone is little complex and very wide spread build issue with these phones.

Their Display phone was perfect. It looks like they are displaying Apples and selling Oranges.
hey i was finally able to recieve a new phone, i walked into my local at&t and spoke to a rep. i was reffered to the assitant manager who looked at his own phone and refused me a replacement phone. i pressed him and gave my phone to the store manager who only agreed to give me a new unit once she saw the red adhesive showing on my top speaker grill. i went and looked at every display model they had, bottom grill on the phone shows a miniscule gap towards the center of the device. speaker grill on top also shows a gap that is more prominent towards the ir blaster. Not sure if this is normal but i will try to visit other locations even a sprint or t-mobile store and look at the build quality on their versions and take pictures to compare. im not too sure of why something like this should happen, but my 1st guess would be an unlevel surface underneath most likely from the injected plastic... i really hope it isnt, such a beautiful phone. something like this should not have a rushed manufacturing process.
About the gap, I got 3 Ones from Att and they all got tiny gaps, but seem to be glued tight, but I mostly looked at uneven speaker grills and screen, since all had some!
Ps, Double Dip is lovely case, got one with the purchase

I just got my "baby" yesterday. And with trying to entertain a 1 year old with a slight head cold, plus do all the data transfers from my One X+ to this one, I never thought to actually look the thing over. But I'll be darned, after reading the first few posts just now, I took my case off and yep, there is an ever so slight defect as well. Their not gaps..but a slight "wavelike" unevenness all around. I have very sensitive tactile sensations in my fingers, so i can feel roughness on certain spots. Trying not to let it bother me, but my neuroticism is trying to kick in.

Really, they refused you an exchange? When I had my Optimus G, they exchanged it for me because it got too hot. If you get a new device and it has dead pixels, they should not be able to refuse service. Dead Pixels should not be a standard.

Anybody's back creaking?

After one day and only popping the back cover off and on twice, in the bottom right where the "notch" and speaker are, if I hold the phone there and squeeze at all (like a normal grip), the back cover is creaking. And yeah, it's popped in all the way.
It's a small thing, but the OCD in me can't ignore it now, especially on such a premium, tightly built and "sleek" device...

You beat me to that (48 y/o and it's been doing that for years).
With respect to the phone, I've had mine since the 17th and haven't experienced anything yet. I'd take it back immediately. It would drive me nuts as well. I had a laptop with keys that squeaked when I pressed and brought it back the very next day. The new one didn't have the same problem. They may look at you like you're crazy and suggest they don't hear anything. Just ignore them and tell them you want a replacement. It's new enough that you won't get a refurbished device.
I've taken my battery cover off several times and put it back on. No creak here. I guess it's up to you. How important is it? Important enough to A, start all over again, and B replace your brand new device possibly with a "Refurbished" one?
Thanks for the input - sounds like it shouldn't be happening. And thanks for the humor as well!

Try getting a quick circle case on there to see if it creaks too. If it does then a connector is weak in the phone. If it doesn't then it's your backplate which you can replace or just swap the device.
