Hi guys,
I just upgraded my SGS2 to ICS.
But unfortunately I won't be able to enable the Ad hoc on my device anymore
Previously, I used to use ADB tools to enable it or through Ad Hoc enabler.APK in the marekt but now both ways not wroking
So Is there any Intelligent who can solve this problem out ?
Thanks in advance
Up-Up-Up
unable to detect wireless via ad-hoc
2.3.6 is working fine, but after update to official ics 4.0.3 i also facing with this ad-hoc problems..
intelligent please help!
No one know about it ?
Well try XXLPQ, because im using it and Ad-hoc works here.
I'm using XXLPQ and it doesn't detect any ad hoc networks even in wifi manager
i tried using many modified wpa supplicants specifically made for ics (wpa supplicant ver 0.8.x) but with all of them the wifi won't even start
There is no ad hoc patch for ICS at SGS2.. Just wait

When you say it works, can you detect and connect to adhoc wireless access points

Same problem here, probably a bug
This is no bug... Google wont add ad hoc support the reason is unknown

Getting comments from users of my WiFi Ad-Hoc Enabler app that it indeed no longer works on the SGS2 with ICS. If anyone finds a solution please say so, so I can integrate it in my app for easy Ad Hoc enabling.
I will send u the ad hoc fix if it is avaiable...

Great, awaiting your response.
AD-HOC problems
still waiting for the new wpa_supplicant file for ICS..
Upssssss...
Upssssssssss..
We are all still waiting...
And it's ridiculous that the android does not support the adhoc networks, it's important feature even the old Nokia phones support it, this is make me very mad because I do not have another way to connect to the internet through the phone.
Rollback to 2.3.6 and still waiting for the great news for ad-hoc on ics..
No ad-hoc = no ics

Hi,
I'm using CM9 beta4 by ludohirp and i really need wifi tethering.
Someone told me to use "Barnacle WiFi Tether" and another one told about "WiFi Tether", neither of them works for me, someone can help?

Hey,
I guess you are aware of koush (koushik dutta); he developed an application named "Tether", it works seemlessly for me. Just hit your browser towards http://www.clockworkmod.com/
"Wireless Tether for Root Users" from market
try this, worked well fr me

This one works for my computer using, but it's using ADHOC. My android tablet can't connect.
CM7 connection sharing was very good, my tablet and my computer connect to it without any problem...
You know, it's been over a year since I first got this phone, yet I never got the native wifi hotspot to work quite right. Stock or custom ROMs. Am I missing anything here?

in your apn list choose "minternet" before using wifi tether. don't choose the "yourproviderGPRS" you can't share GPRS in wifi tether even in usb tether.

With cm7 i was sharing my 3G data /GPRS with my tablet.
maybe it's a problem in cm9 kernel, but you can also try Easy Teather

It's not really a problem. My computer connect, my android tablet don't.

with cm 7 tethering worked fine.
can you use the standard tethering? (the android stock...)
if i try to activate mine it does nothing...
did you find a workaround? i cant connect with my android 3.2 device as well. ipad connects fine...

Like I said in the general thread of cm9... barnacle or wifi tether are third party apps... only can create ad-hoc networks that Android by default can't see... for the tf-101 there is a modded wpa_supplicant that can make the tablet "see" ad-hoc networks so you can connect to it....
PS: the reason of why cm7 stock tethering works if cz android stock tethering creates an infrastructure network.... and the reason of why only honeycomb tablets can't see ad-hoc networks is cz they don't have CyanogenMod... and cm have this feature enabled

Sorry dude it's for my fellow countryman..
Here in Philippines we have 3 or 4 apn that our service provider sends us.
1. "yourprovider"GPRS - this one is set with the proxy i.p adress.
2. "yourprovider" Internet - the one with the minternet at apn
3. mms
4. blah blah and others
i once tried to use the connection 1 and share it with wifi tether. Sure there is a wifi hotspot but there are no connections. I thought i can share 0.facebook to my computer. like free fb with my pc browser. and it fails
so i tried to top up a load and use connection 2 with the "minternet". and it works.

As i fave checked on the google website android does not have licence to access adhoc support i know its very frustrating cause u cant use rdp and other clients on ad-hoc however using third party wifi applications you can view the ad-hoc but still cant join it
Im trying to get ad-hoc support in ics and this is what I have found so far:

Ad hoc in your pc/laptop?
Why you didn't trying "Connectify" ?
It's simple to use, but in some wifi adapter card it has some bug. Sometimes it turn off the hotspot itself, didn't know why.
*Sorry for my bad english*

Condi's All-in-One utility can add WiFi Ad-Hoc support. From the utility's Main Menu select 4 * Tweaks and Mods [SUBMENU], then select 8 Add WiFi AD-HOC Support.
Yes I know about this but it doesn't say ICS-OK, so I guess it doesn't work with ICS.

Any news on this?
The only reason I rooted my tablet was to get Ad Hoc from my Nokia phone working, I didn't know it wasn't yet available in ICS.
Cheers

Hello all,
From other ICS devices I own and follow (and don't worry I know all about the wpa_supplicant issue) I was wondering if anyone has been successful in sharing their laptops internet with the phone?
Case: I at work have an unrestricted internet line, I can't connect a wireless router but I could share my internet via the wireless of my laptop (ad-hoc). Has anyone succeeded in doing this?
Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion, I found the app and downloaded it but didn't work on my phone, it gave an error in the las segment because it cant find the system group "wifi" in my phone. For what I can see the dev stopped updating this app, in my eyes its a shame because that could of been very useful and profitable for him at the same time.

This has been now a life long quest for me since upgrading my Xoom to ICS. I would have perfect connection with GB so I know our hardware supports it, but as of ICS they changed the drivers... I would personally pay for an app / option like this and I know that many others would as well.

wifi adhoc
Make your laptop wifi hotspot
Run dos as administrator and type as follows
netsh
wlan
set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="name" key="password"
start hostednetwork
show hostednetwork
stop hostednetwork
IMP:- It works on windows 7 and 8 only
Thank you for your help!
I followed your instructions and I got the wireless network up and running. When I try to connect my phone to it (Evo 4g LTE) the phone sees the network, asks for the password, tries to connect but keeps disconnecting and connecting constantly nonstop.
Any suggestions?
