Need some advice in buying a tablet - HTC EVO 3D

As the header says I Need some advice in buying an Android tablet .
I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab but need some advice since my all time favorite company is HTC so my first thing I looked at was the Evo tablet but not sure if its the better one.
Any help is much appreciated .

The Flyer and Evo View 4G are nice tablets. That being said they were way over priced from the jump. The newer tablets have much more to offer. I bought this one for $189 refurbed from Buy.com, totally worth it IMO.

What is it called? and were can i find a release date?

Last I heard it was to be called the Google Play. Notice they changed the name of the market recently. But everything is still a rumor thus far. The Asus Memo is supposed to drop in the next few months. The Google tablet is supposed to be similar, but scaled down a bit. Less memory,as it will use cloud storage etc are some of the rumors.

Possibly upgrading to evo3d

Well I am very interested in this phone but would like some honest opinions about it here are my questiones. Was the phone what you thought it would be? Is the dual core fast, any lag? and how issue battery life
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I love my 3d and it is speedy and all. But to be honest, if i were upgrading now i would get something else. There are better phones out now as tech moves so quickly. Not a bad phone dont get me wrong, just better ones are out there now

I've had a lot of android phone and the evo 3d is the only one that's I've been so satisfied with since my droid 1
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Thanks for feedback I have 2 weeks to decide and it's either this phone or epic touch battery is an issue I would like a phone to last majority of the day also u would want a phone that I know will be updated to ics I know HTC already confirmed this with evo3d don't know about epic touch
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Evo3d and epic touch are the best 2 choices. I would say the 3d because its fast and made by htc. Gotta love sense.

I have an Epic 4G, was going with the Touch BUT! I just bought me an Evo 3D from ebay. I think the masses believe in HTC. They are just better built and from what I see here, have more support. Mines in the mail baby, I'll be joining you all here soon.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I really dig the Photon and the SGSII is nice as well. But for me, Sense is where it's at. Plus the Dev support is fantastic and exceeds that of the Sammy and MoPho in my opinion.
I had the opportunity to go Photon or Evo3D. Went Evo3D. No regrets. The community really ha made this phone a beast. Before root, I must admit I missed my Evo4G... Not anymore. 3D is neat, but ultimately a gimmick in my humble opinion. The dial cores are fast. I'm running Eternity on mine and it is buttery smooth. To the battery issue.... I chew through them. SIMPLE and CHEAP solution. Ebay up a set of 3 spare batteries and a battery charger for $20. Cha ching!
E3D'ed... Booyah!
Wow you guys are really convincing me to go with the evo3d

Sarcasm? lol Play w/ it for a good long while and choose from there. I'm still thinking of trading in my Evo 3D for an Epic Touch 4G... but I have heard nothing but problems from peeps on these forums regarding said device. LOS; cheap build quality; software issues after root, etc. BUT I have also heard nothing but good things about the screen/camera/phone's fluidity.
I've played w/ the ET a couple of times... I've never had any issues w/ it at all while handling it and the fact that the phone FEELS so much smoother than the Evo 3D really makes me want to make the switch.
Anyway, the Photon beats them both for phone stability and build quality but the interface is very bogged down/laggy and the dev support is pretty damn scarce.
Make the right decision. :3
I figure the battery is the same as epic touch which is bad so I would go have look for quality and I know the evo3d has some weight to it which is fine with me epic touch looks like its poor quality any thoughts

Really depends on what ur coming from. I mean its a bad ass phone for sure but I think I could have been just as happy sticking with my 4G EVO. I love my 3d don't get me wrong. It's fast and reliable for sure. The 3d feature is cool at first but i don't really find any real use for it. Definately love it but think about this too, LTE phones should be coming out one after another starting next year. Depending on what u got now maybe u should wait and see what's new in the first quarter.

If you've held out on upgrading this long, I'd go ahead and wait for Sprint to start releasing LTE devices next year. That would suck if you upgraded now, right before the end of the year and in 6 months LTE devices come out and Sprint's new LTE network starting to become operational, and you're stuck with a WiMAX phone for 2 years.

Yes!! 2 Evo 3D's here for almost 5 months. 100% satisfied. My wife upgraded from Hero to Evo Design 4G 2 weeks ago and that phone is awesome. Go play with all the phones and buy the one that blows your skirt up. Grandpa always said "never buy anything that doesn't excite you". Good luck!!
galaxy nexus, hands down

What is the next BIG phone that might be worth buying.....
is everyone done with the 3D gimmick yet????
I love my E3d but I was indeed over the 3d gimmick after the first day. Next device....not sure yet.

With as aweful as sprint and HTC are at updating my next phone will be a nexus phone. I'm going to miss sense though. I really do love their lockscreen and some of their widgets.

Don't count the Galaxy Nexus getting time;y uppdates from sprint seeing as my Nexus S 4g still hasn't even received an estimate to the release of the update to 4.0.x. I don't really care whose fault it is at this point (Google, Samsung, Sprint) I will not take my chances with a nexus on a CDMA network again, the Verizon GN is having late update issues as well.
Actually, EVO 3D is getting ICS this end of April or the beginning of May. So if you can wait a few weeks you'll be able to get ICS and still keep Sense. ICS will have Sense 3.6 included. I suggest you Google it. I can't leave you a link and make your life easier since I'm still a Junior. Sense 3.6 is exactly like the HTC one X. (Or was it XL?) Well just letting you know dude.

There is zero need to prove it right now if you insist on being lazy and not simply looking it up your self....they are widely different.
4.0 has things like....different launch bar(rosie), white menus, the whole camera apk improvements, app drawer scrolls sideways...Fully integrated beats with it able to use on 3rd party apps, dropbox storage deal,...
3.6 has same theme black menus, app drawer scrolls vertical, a different rosie, and missing all the stuff mentioned above...
Look them up and you'll see.
Next time you ask a question without searching at all I personally won't answer you. Please take the 5sec to search even YouTube for a sense 3.6 vid and sense 4.0 vid...

Nah its a gimmick right now. 3D devices have not taken off as I wish it would. Hopefully within the coming years it will be more common.
Capturing moments in 3d is great....but sharing a moment in 3d would be great as well...and not many people out there that you can share a 3d picture or video with.

I dont think thats a fair trade cause the nexus S is just single core. Atleast I would never trade my evo 3d for that. Maybe for an Epic touch 4g since those are more comparable.
I'd keep my Nexus S.

Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
The evo3d is a better phone imho, I think the evo4g is more comparable to the ns4g. The only drawback to the 3d is no 3d on any aosp roms. Kinda sux having a 3d phone and not having 3d, I don't run aosp because of that. Also, I'd make the trade just to have HTC sense. A lot of folks around here take sense for granted, they say its too big, or its a resource hog. Typical case of not wanting what you already have. Sense is tha shiz. As for kernels, we have chad.goodman here, who deserves all the respect he gets, and freeza also.
This is a Very helpful community, lots of ppl just waiting for someone to ask a question so they can help out. I've been in some sections that are just riddled with trolls, this one isn't.

Galaxy S3. I am looking for something new.
I never thought i'd say this...but my next phone might be a Samsung. lol
I really wish HTC wasn't soooo blind and/or blatantly anti-consumer. It seems like Samsung got everything right with the gs3 while the new line of HTC phones still have quite a few things that I really don't like about them.
I haven't finalized my decision by any means, but as of now, i'm definitely leaning towards the GS3.

new evo ... locked in battery
gs3 for me
The answer would be easy if HTC would listen to the community. But since Samsung makes their devices developer friendly its a hard not to go with them. Even with the screen quality being less than the Evo LTE. The Evo is guaranteed to be locked and I can't stand being restricted. HTC also doesn't give out source code so our devs can't build functioning roms. Thats why I'm leaning Samsung
Coming from the rezound in June. I was happy with the way the one x looked and thought that's what I'd be getting, then the evo let design came out. It kind of bummed me but it's growing on me. The sg3 just doesn't have a good enough design for me. I like the lte's look better. Still wish it looked like the one x though :/. Oh well I still can't wait.

Very much so. I came from an OG Evo and I can definitely feel the difference. Idk how the rom development is with the X but here its still great. Worth it all the way, unless you would want to wait for the rumored Evo 3D LTE or the new HTC One. I love this 3vo though and it has more than enough under the hood for everything I use it for. Alright, I've never had a X-peria before, I've always wanted one but in the end never did. Why? You can thank the marvelous EVO for that. I don't really no stats on the X-peria but on the Evo, I can definitely give you some advice and some well recommended tips in getting it far in beast mode. I've had 3 galaxy s2's, nexus, droids, mytouches, no phone compares what the evo does, in my opinion. Its fast already and wait till the new one comes out, 1.2 ghz processor, dual core, battery is decent but mine is great. There's so many options man, and its pretty much the same setup. Actually I'm running X-peria graphics on my rom thanks to Steal's inbreded rom. Its magic man. Simply great work. My phone has been put to the test with even Droid Razors and Iphone 4s and makes them look like turds that need to be returned to their stores hahah. So yeah man I well recommend you get the Evo 3d or the new Evo that's coming out. Either way you're a winner man. As for rom recommendations go, go with Steal's inbreded rom and get the amazing EXT recovery. Good luck!
Thanks guys, money is my major problem or else I'll have an Xperia S by now. XD how's the speaker quality on this? I've noticed a few roms with beats audio, is it just a equalizer setting or does it compare well up to a HTC with actual beats built in?

In my opinion, it just makes the speakers sound louder. But I don't have beats headphones to test em with. Volume+ on the app store does basically the same thing as beats. But the speakers are okay, just kinda low on a stock rom.
