Anyone knows how much do we have to pay in customs if we import a SGS2 from the U.K. on release day? I am looking at purchasing one once I get a good review of the GPS performance and want to make sure I am not surprised with any hidden cost.
unless you live in new york, you dont have to pay any. you just pay for shipping, i ordered from clove.co.uk, and there was no tax, or customs charges, only a shipping fee of 14 their money. however mobilecityonline.com is US based, and is cheaper than clove, you will pay 699, no tax, free shipping, no international hassle. the only reason i went with clove was because they will get it to me anywhere from 2-4 days faster
edit, i just noticed you wont be ordering the day they get released, then it would be faster to order from mobilecityonline, because they will receive stock from uk, which will take a few days to ship, but after that, you can order overnite delivery if you live in the US, so i suggest mobilecityonline.com

MobileCityOnline has free shipping on pre-orders. But no ETA. Yes, it's 699 but no certain date when they receive stock.
I also ordered from Clove and it's about $744 with 2-4 day shipping. I hope it'll arrive by the end of that week. Also, I think there's some currency fee charged by your card issuer. Maybe 3%?
Handtec is slightly cheaper but they've been inconsistent with stock date.

I can't directly answer that question but an email from Clove says, "Samsung offer a two year warranty on the SGS2!!"
I suppose that's regardless of where you buy the phone from. Anyone care to input?

It Leaves You In New York.....
J/K
When I ordered a phone from the U.K to Chicago, I was not billed any customs rate what so ever. Even while ordering stuff from H.K, I didnt pay any customs.

then you have to pay sales tax, thats all, idk what it is over there, but in ohio its 7%
thats if you order from mobilecityonline, if you order from clove there wont be any tax. the tax is only from mobilecityonline because theyre actually newyork based, so newyork residents have to pay =/ not sure who would be cheaper in this instance, hmm
thanks everyone
That was one of my worries, at least I can breath now
Now to see if the GPS performs good or not. The first SGS let a sour taste in my mouth.
Ok, so the sellers that can ship to the U.S. that I have so far are:
clove.co.uk (444.00 euros + 14 euros shipping = 458 euros)
mobilecity.com (699.99 dollars + 0 shipping)
handtec.co.uk (515.99 euros + 12.99 euros shipping = 528.98 euros)
expansys.com (519.99 euros + ?? shipping)
expansys-usa.com (749.99 dollars + ?? shipping)
Watch out, UK still uses pounds, not euros
So it's actually 14% more expensive (1GBP=1.14EUR)

I believe the Handtec price you listed includes VAT, which you don't have to pay if you're in the states. The last time I checked it was about 430£.

It's 8.75%.
I tried figuring out where it's cheapest, realized that I was using euros instead of pounds, and gave up.
I just had jaw surgery so I can't think much right now... lol

Is it an international warranty? From my previous experience with Samsung products (laptops, not phones), the warranty would cover the item in the locale where it was purchased, which in this case would be the U.K. no?

Clove just emailed saying if there's an issue with the device, it can always be sent back to them.
They didn't mention any other details. It sounds pretty vague so I guess I'll have to deal with either SquareTrade or Ensquared.

and here I was thinking that was euros, so it is actually british pounds, hmmmm...
I guess mobilecity is the one
Guys, i want to make sure i've got it correctly: if I'm buying from UK (expansys or handtec) and ship it to USA address not in New York, in my case Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, then i wont pay any US taxes and customs, and expansys's price (which exclude EU VAT while shipping to US) + shipping costs will be my final price?
Price of phone plus shipping is what t
I paid. Shipped to Florida with nn tax.

I'm in Australia, I just spent a while researching this for the Australian SGSII thread here, but I want to get others opinions too...
Where to buy it?
Here is what I found:
Unlocked Mobiles £435 $663
Handtec £456 $695
Clove £464 $707
Expansys $720
Mobiciti$914
Smooth Mobiles $924
(Australian Dollars, including shipping -cheapest option)
Have I missed out on a site?
Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to buy it for the cheapest price?
Is there any reason you didn't buy it from the cheapest price?
I plan to use it on Telstra's NextG network.
Am I correct in assuming whichever store I buy it from, it will by with the Exynos and SAMOLED+?
Anything else that might influence someone's decision to purchase?
Thanks.
Amando
I bought on amazon uk for £499
On handtec and unlocked mobiles, the price was more like around £499 (at the time of posting). On handtec, it is not in stock right now.
At least, on amazon, apart from being a reliable seller, your vat is ajusted to the country you live in (for me, it was interesting), the return is easy if necessary.
Those prices are with no VAT, which is what you get if you buy them fom Australia. Not sure about other countries.
I've never used Amazon before, I've always found it troublesome buying from Australia.
It's like they don't want you to use it if you live in Australia.
I am getting ABSOLUTELY screwed around by Expansys! Only went with them because they were cheaper when they had their pre-order price & I could get 6% cashback via quid-co. They're just absolutely ignoring every email I send them & I can't call them because it's too expensive & the time difference is all out of whack.
Will cancel & buy from Handtec.co.uk.
Why Handtec and not the cheapest option?
i paid £529 for my set from phones 4 u(bought on 27th). gutted to see so many games incompatible/unoptimized with mali400.
£399 on o2 payasyougo plus £15 for unlock all in

It's called an exchange rate for a reason, £ and $ aren't the same. £519.99 is around $800. It's not cheap off that site at all.
519.99 GBP = 845.673 USD
British Pound US Dollar
1 GBP = 1.62633 USD 1 USD = 0.614883 GBP

Thanks for the reply!!
Will it work in Pakistan ? If i buy from expansys, website says SimFree does it means it will work in any country ?
I was planning to buy Incredible S, i saw the price of SGSII on expansys the difference of is approx 100 GBP between these two mobile phones, isnt it better to get SGSII rathat than IS.
I have no idea if it'll work properly in Pakistan, it'll probably call and text but I don't know if it's 3G/HSDPA internet will work. Depends on the frequencies the Pakistani networks use and if they're the same as the UK ones...I don't know the actual figures for either, sorry.
Oh and yes the S2 smashed the incredible S in pretty much every aspect.
How much is a reasonable price to ask for a mint second hand Galaxy S2 in white? Posted in the market section but no interest. Is asking 350 gbp too much?
Ephumuris
Usually I've seen them go for lower than that, around 310-320 I've seen on other forums.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Used price from shops here (Tokyo) is equivalent of about 325-350 gbp with 30-day store warranty. (This assumes original box, all accessories, etc.)
Have a look on ebay, last time i looked they were going for £300/£350
On Ebay UK £300 - 400. But if you live nearby one of them, you might be able to do a cash on collection and make the 'price' cheaper. Since you have to pay eBay final fee and paypal interest fee, he might kindly accept a lower value than he/she has listed on eBay.
i would say about €360 is a fair enough price, if was selling mine which is in pristine condition that's what id probably sell it for.
white gs2 in cex in manchester going for 300. looks in mint condition. i'd pay no more than that. i'd sack ebay...plenty of rip off's.
.
Anyone have any information as to when Verizon will lower their price to upgrade to the GN2 for $199?
My contract is up next week, and trying to find a good deal, but stay with normal distributors. (Not letstalk etc).
Verizon store, Costco, BestBuy are options I would consider at this point.
Thanks!
Probably when the phone reaches 4-6 months old.
So that would make it between April and June.
Also, please post questions in the Q and A forum.
Best Buy will price match Lets Talk. I paid $174.99 with my upgrade. Follow the Lets Talk link in the first post on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048946&page=2
Find the verizon note 2, pick upgrade pricing, go to check out, the $25 coupon code will already be applied for a total of $174.99. Show this to Best buy on your phone or print it out. Enjoy!
I did not mention the word coupon to Best Buy. I just showed them that it was a verizon note 2, in stock, upgrade price and the final price of $174.99. Some people reported that Best buy would not honor the coupon but they still got the $199.99 price. I got the $174.99 price without mentioning a coupon was involved.

Sprint sells the phone for $299 themselves so wherever you saw 379 was definitely a total rip off.
Follow the link and instructions that i posted above except look up the sprint version upgrade price and go to check out. It is $204.99. If it is a new line rather than an upgrade it is even less.
I was just reading this thread when I saw a tweet. Amazon has it for $199.99 for upgrades now. If you don't want to buy from them, maybe more ammunition for Best Buy Price Match.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...es-and-new-subscribers-on-amazon-and-wirefly/
Amazon just dropped it to 199 today http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/2...te-2-price-to-199-for-upgrades-and-new-lines/ for upgrades and new lines.
Wait.... hang on. Does amazon have it for $199???
