[Q] Problem installing certain apps from market after ICS update? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Tried to install Line Runner after updating to ICS on my Galaxy S2, but got the message:
couldn't install on usb storage or sd card.

Anyone else noticed this? Did some searching and only workaround i've found is to unmount my sd card before i install the apps that gives me the error. Am not sure if this is a ICS issue, or some compatibility issue between ICS and the app maybe?

You rooted I'm assuming. This is being discussed in the cfroot thread. Unmount sd, install app, then remount sd.

I got same problem too, but i found a solution. Maybe it will help u.
1. stock rom with cf-root--> install fail..
2. After that, i flash back stock kernel with odin --> install success, but without cwm
3. Use Ktool to flash cwm5.3 ---> install success and with CWM now..

Hehe yea, found it, thought it maybe was a standalone tool for the PC, something like Odin
Anyway, that worked, flashed back to stock kernel, and flashed the cf-root kernel with ktool from the market, CWM reports correct kernel, and i can now download Line Runner without the error.
Though i am curious to what the problem is, maybe something weird with the flashing process and the new cf-root?

[Q] Update CWM on incorrect kernel

I am having a little bit of trouble trying to solve a problem with CWM. I rooted my phone earlier last year and decided to try some roms lately but I am now in a bad position as CWM is telling me I have a different kernel and I am unable to get the option to restore my previous rom backup. I keep hearing to use Odin which I previously used to root my phone, to update CWM in the kernel to the latest version. Normally when I update the kernel it is quite simple - just install from the zip on sd, but Odin is a complete mess to understand. I am probably approaching this incorrectly. What can I do to restore to my previous CWM backup?
Try using ROM Manager to flash CWM, this might solve your problem.

Thanks for the reply. Do I flash the CWM.zip (current version) as a rom in this app or do I use a different option?

ROM Manager - Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery - Samsung Galaxy S2.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
That did not seem to work. Rom Manager stops working and after awhile it asks if I want to wait or stop the program.
Is there a way to get this to work through odin? I am unable to reset to the default firmware as some files are irretrievable now.

Do not use rom manager. Flash cf root kernel with odin and you'll have cwm recovery.

OK. I don't have this folder on my System. So I think it is either an application error so that it would not create that folder or it is not created because the backup doesn't run complete.

I think u won't get further with this kernel.
It's written that it isn't possible to get into the CSC.
So maybe it's because the kernel is not able to OR because soemthing wrong with the CSC.

Okay. I saw in my Smartphone, that everytime I've tried to start the CWM Recovery it was landing in the Android System Recovery. It doesn't matter when I start the Backupping over the ROM-Manager or over the 3-Button-Mehtod. I don't come into the CWM Recovery.
My installed Verison is the 3.0.0.x version for Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100). When I choose the Samsung Galaxy S2 (galaxys2) CWM Recovery version, then i am coming into the CWM recovery tool but then it hang with that message

[Q] Kernel for nandroid backups? - JB 4.1.2 leak

apart from 'Philz' kernel no other Custom kernels will wrk with Stock JB leak ma8
OK thanks for that. Guess I'll have to wait. I really want to be able to do a nandroid backup in case things screw up and I have to spend ages restoring everything.
I never had problem with backups on Philz kernel. At least for me to do backup and restore working well.
Can't seem to install this! Just tried flashing the latest - PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.70 - using Mobile Odin. It just reboots the phone and the kernel isn't flashed. Tried it twice with/without the md5 tag but didn't work either time. What am I doing wrong?

Well, it's rooted - not sure about properly. I flashed a file (posted on XDA) which rooted it after flashing the ROM. Everything appears to be rooted - Superuser, Busybox, etc
Problem is I can't use Odin cause I'm on a Mac so I have to use the mobile version.

Just out of interest I just booted into recovery <3e> and I get an error message in red at the bottom:

I'm confused. Does this refer to the root "update.zip" or to the kernel which didn't flash?

Yes, I renamed it "update.zip" before moving it to the ex SD and flashing it.
When I try and flash Philz kernel, it selects OK in Mobile Odin but when I press "flash" the phone just reboots normally, not into recovery and the kernel isn't flashed.

[Q] [HELP] Formatted system and SDcard

background info:
samsung galaxy s3 i9300. Rooted with cyanogenmod Installer: http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
A while ago I tried flashing a costum rom, however i wasnt fully satistied so went back to cyanogenmod. My SDcard space went from 11gb to 2gb left. I went to recovery (CWM Touch) and formatted system and sdcard (which was a huge mistake I believe). As far as I know, I have no rom installed right now after the format. Ive downloaded MIUI and put it on my external SD and tried flashing it from my external SD. After wiping dalvik, cache and factory reset flashing went well. When I press reboot device CWM says "root access is missing, root device?" Now there are 2 options: "no" and "yes root device (/system/xbin/su)". Both options result in my phone stuck at the boot animation.
I thought because I had no root, I had to flash a stock rom. So I downloaded a stock rom and tried flashing it. CWM said "installation aborted". So right now Im kind of clueless. Can anyone help me and tell me what to do? Ive been searchin this forum for quite a long time now. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

Which stock rom you installed??
And are you able to flash that miui rom you talking about now??
If it asks fit root just click no.. That's a problem I guess with the recovery not detecting root but you still have it.. just not into your rom by clicking no... then if you don't have root you can flash a supersu file through recovery..

Yes, unless it is a repackaged stock rom you must use odin, not CWM to flash it. You could try using archie's rom or one of Wanam's in CWM. Or download a repacked stock that is flashable in CWM.

Tried To Update to CM11, Now I Can't Get Out Of Clockworkmod?

Hi,
I've just tried to update my i9300 for the first time to CM11 from CM10 since I need 4.4 to run the new Google Camera and Chrome Desktop.
Unfortunately upon downloading the update via the system menu and rebooting my phone, it just goes to CLockwork Recovery... is there anyway of fixing this please? Preferably without wiping all of my data too because I have Google Authenticator on there and it isn't backed up :S
Thanks
(edit) Also I can't turn off my phone... argh - anyone know how to stop my battery from draining before it dies in CMR? Thanks
Download CM11 M5 it's the most stable and backup everything with titanium backup
If you can't boot to the ROM do nandroid backup then do fresh ROM install
After installation use Nadroid Manager app to extract your apps from Nandroid backup you've made after the new ROM boots up

Plug my phone into the PC and transfer across the file
Then in Clockwork go install zip from SD card?
Thanks again
Sorry, when I plug in my phone it doesn't show under my computer... is there anything I have to change in ClockworkMod REcovery?
Hm, managed to plug in an external micro SD card, but it says
