Issues with CM7 - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Gday guys, i have just installed the new latest cm7 rom. But im having some issues, that i thought were fixed in the new update.
For example - the other day my wifi stopped working, saying there was an 'error' so i had to reboot and it worked again.
The other issue was after a few hours on standby my tablet would turn on, but once it went to sleep again, the screen wont turn back on again. I can still turn the volume up, but the screen remains black.
Does this happen to any one else? If so, how do i fix it.
Cheers steve

YES! Twice now. I'm about ready to go back to the older version of CM7. I was really happy with it. I wonder if this is something we did wrong going from CM7 to CM7 final?

Hello. I belive you should look in the CM7 support thread for your answers. It can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540272

Check the various cm7 support threads rather than creating a new one please.
That said, I have been running the current version of cm7 for around 3 weeks (being a tester I got it a while before the public release). In that time, I have not had one single wifi error. It has never stopped, dropped, errored etc. I switch between wifi locations at least 4 times a day between home, work (in office as well as in the field) as well as tethering to my phone occasionally. Gonce's current build of the wifi driver has been flawless for me. This was the case on the internal as well as the sdcard versions of cm7.

new Sprint ROM a disgrace!

Well I loaded in the new sprint rom last night, and now my phone is completely useless. The radio has major problems, my signal goes from nothing to 4 bars, back and fourth, and the phone goes into permanent sleep mode when I let it sit. I found this out when I woke up this morning and missed 10 calls from a client havign an emergency overnight... wonderful. I have it sitting here on the desk, and it will go to sleep and require a reset every hour or so.
I haven't had any of those problems.
WM6 lag is basically gone now and the keyboard lag is gone.
Everything is WAY more responsive and the memory leaks seem better so far.
The memory "leak" / Cacheing is more managable, and the device isn't as laggy.
I've had no problems at all. I'm loving it.

my MOGUL also goes into Perminant sleep if I let it sit.
i've had to take out the battery about 4 times just today.
anyone know why this could be?
Me too
Got the same problem installed last night. Woke up got into the car and checked phone sleeping had to soft start. Then same thing at least 3 times today. Also watched a short video in MP and it was show a few sec then sleep. Soft start and then you could watch it. Seems like after being on for a couple of hrs phone runs out of memory or something a freezes up?

Check your power setting setup, maybe it's set to turn the device completely off after 1min etc... For some reason my phone never shut off even if I let it set idle for more than 30 mins like it was set to do. Perhaps with the ROM update it actually does what it's supposed to now. Just an idea.
it's not supposed to TURN OFF as in shut down, it's just supposed to sleep. and it never comes out of sleeping mode. i've had numerous other problems, with bluetooth, etc... going back to Colonels rom, which was much more dependable.

i too loaded it yesterday as well, but i want to wonder if you did a hard reset before you installed the rom. i did it, and it gave me no problems at all with radio version 1.47.00... oh, and the phone automatically cuts off when the alarm goes off while you charge it overnight (a big no-no, but you probably know this as well, but i ain't mad at ya). if you got anything, feel free to PM me. thanks in advance.

Mine's still leaking, badly too.
Any of you try to use BT on this new rom?
If you did you'd know that this rom is worthless
-mark
The culprit appears to be the 1.47 radio. The 1.47 radio coupled with any rom version will experiance sleeping, bt and other problems.... so I am rolling back to 1.40 radio to see how it acts
As a tech in a corporate sprint store, i'd be interested in the details behind this "sleep mode" issue. What are ppl running? How can I, in the store, reproduce the problem? Is it reproducable on command or guaranteed, or is it hit or miss?
As I've said, I have the new Rom and Radio, and have no new issues, and the memory "leak" / cache issue isn't gone, but its definetly not as bad, the OS even seems to have a SLIGHTLY smaller ram foot print... maybe just a few megs smaller, but smaller on my device.

I tried that. The 1.40 radio with the new ROM still had all the new bugs.
D-pad cutting in and out...
I have found that if I push the power button to put the phone to sleep when it stops working, then turn back on, the d-pad works again. This seems to get it back to working. I wish that they could just get it right...
Jim
How do you get the new ROM?
I haven't updated yet, plan to over the weekend, but I would suggest anyone having problems to stop and consider their setup first...
What programs are installed that could cause problems?
What registry hacks have been done that may cause problems?
What configuration settings might need reset that may cause problems?
For example, after a hard reset, Enhanced Network over USB is enabled by default, and this often causes Active Sync to have issues. Likewise, power management tweaks will have reverted to defaults and you may like a more finely tuned setup.
As for memory leaks being better/worse, you may have programs installed that are out of date/buggy.
I realize it's easier to jump on the "this sucks" bandwagon, but it doesn't help you or other users with legitimate problems when no consideration is given to what is causing a given problem.
These situations are precisely why the instructions tell you that EVERYTHING will be erased. This is a good thing since it forces you to clean house, but it also means you have to pay attention to those things you often neglect or may have changed ages ago and forgotten.
Finally, if all else fails, try the ROM update again. Sometimes things go wrong.
Sorry if this seems like a rant, I just want people having issues to place blame where it truly belongs. After considering these matters, if you still have problems, definitely let HTC and the rest of us know.
Best Regards,
Aaron
Sorry, it's not anybody's installed programs. The bugs show up with nothing else but the bare ROM.
It's a train wreck.
There are more details on ppcgeeks and pdaphonehome -
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10366
Basically, on a stock ppc-6800 phone with nothing else installed, the BT keeps shutting off.. For me whenever a call comes in or after using my headset for a few minutes on an outgoing call...

Clean rom, nothign changed at all, it sucks, clearly. We are the beta testers obviously, as usual, with most products today
I installed the new ROM after backing up with SPB Backup, then installed my backup file back on and I haven't noticed any issues. I don't use bluetooth however, so I can comment on that. But, I haven't had the sleep issue others are describing either.

[Q] Android FRX04 Screen Issues

I would have posted this in the developments forums, but since im a new member, it wouldnt allow me. Heres the issue:
Running FRX04 android on my Sprint TP CDMA works great, except at random times the screen will become off center and shift to the left. At one point it became so garbled with lines it was unreadable, but came back to normal as I kept tapping the screen. Its almost as if the refresh rate is incorrect. Anyone ever had this issue?
Also, screens touch calibration seems to be off, any way to re-calibrate like in WM?
Thanks in advance!
Have you updated any of the files like the rootfs or the kernel package? Also, you will need to read the first post in THIS thread and replace the file either in the root of your microSD or if you are using the andboot option, in that folder.

Fixed the problem a while back, was related to the kernel, had to switch to a different one. Now everything works great, almost.
Although it is very usable, my problem has been that when when the phone goes to sleep, it will keep the backlight on for a period of time with the screen black. Then at some point the backlight will turn off, i assume a deep sleep. When this happens the phone is completely unresponsive, however the leds around the center button fades as if its charging. Only a soft reset will work.
Thanks again.
I usually don't enable auto back light because that is still being worked on if I'm not mistaken. Instead, I turn off the screen manually. Usually helps to enable pattern lock, for me anyway. Make sure you are updating as there has been some recent updates as of late: FRX05.
n-Joie (Enjoy)
ill give that a shot
I disabled all backlight features in WinMo and Android and everything works perfect. Thanks. However my GPS has never worked, just says aquiring until it times out saying that it couldn't find any satellites.
I believe GPS is disabled by default. This may or may not be listed as such but I think I recall reading this somewhere (maybe IRC logs?). Unfortunately, this is something the devs are still working on and hoping someone "fixes" it eventually...
Im not worried about gps at all, if i need it I can use WinMo. Been using android exclusively on my TP for 2 days now and it works great. Battery life is great too.
Have you tried out the camera yet? I tried it out the first time yesterday and I was stunned! Don't think I ever saw the camera work in Android before so to say the least I smiled when I tapped the camera icon and saw what the camera was pointing at... Even though it seemed like it hung after it took the picture, I may have been a tad impatient with it at the time as I was slightly excited!
Very nice!
I have not tried the camera yet unfortunately. I will right now and post back. Ive had pretty low expectations so im not like others and complaining by any means.
Additionally, it helps to have that sort of mentality. Not required but by all means it does help to be helpful!

You cant expect too much when your running a non-native os on an unsupported device. I used to be a big member of the xbox dev forums back in the day. So i can understand the users that complain when things are in alpha stage. I guess I can start posting in the development forums now that im over 10 posts.
My camera didnt work when I tried it by the way. black screen area then showed a crash message. Like I said no big deal, usability I would say is still excellent. If i need to use gps or camera ill just use winmo till then, no biggie!

Could you explain how you fixed your screen issue going off center and shifting to the left...I am having same problem
I downgraded my kernel. Can't remember which one I used in frx04 as I lost my SD card with 04 on it and have since been using FRX05 which worked as downloaded with no changes to the kernel needed. If you look at the FRX04 thread in the beginning, there is a reference to Touch Pro users having to use a different kernel (1225 I think), and I just down, loaded it and extracted it overwriting the kernel that came with FRX04. I haven't tried FRX06, but tried the GBXOA gingerbread bundle today on another SD card and it seemed too buggy for my liking, crashed in the XDA Dev app while trying to reply to your post. Sure loos and flows nie tho. Try using FRX05 or 06, rather than 04..
Sent from my MSM using XDA App
The kernel I replaced it with was 1242 btw

[Q] Problem, Stuck in Black screen doesn't wake up

Hello!
Well... I have this phone since yesterday... I plugged to the computer with Kies, and well, a update was available... now the phone have Froyo and the aesthetics changed completely, it looks awesome.
But, the phone have this ANNOYING problem that, after using it... like 5~10 minutes of no activity, when I try to use the phone again it doesnt work... doesn't respond to any button, I have to take off the battery in order to restart it and that over and over again...
I've realized also that this happens when I'm using wifi, if I left the phone with wifi on this happens, without wifi seems to work fine.
Somebody have any clue what could be? there's little information about this issue in the internet...
I think I'm going to return it but I want to try everything I can do (without voiding the warranty) since the phone was perfect for what I wanted.
Thanks in advance!
Hey. I got the same problem here. It only happened a few times when I just had froyo that came stock on my galaxy 5 but I recently installed cyanogenmod 7 and now its happening everytime I put my phone down.
So I'm guessing it may be directly related to what rom is installed? I've heard about it happening a bit to people who have 2.1 installed to.
I dont know too much but it seems the only fix is to take out battery and turn on.
Sorry I can't help more. I hope somebody knows a bit more than me on this.
Think this is called something like the 'wifi sleep of death', something to do with the rom. i'd try change the rom and see if it still occurs
Thanks for the hints tho!, but I returned the phone... it seems that is a bug related to the update of the phone, since I know that with the out of the box 2.1 version it doesn't have that issue...
You know, the mobile carriers also do weird stuff to the roms... -__-

[q]Wifi problem

My phone keeps freeze when I have turned the wifi on.
When I turned on the wifi, and wait for a while,
it will disconnect and keep re-connect.
This made my phone almost freeze,
what wrong about my phone??
Bit vague there. A bit of info about your setup might help (kernel, rom, etc). We're not mindreaders
Oh, sorry.
I am using SpeedMod K2-19,
Simple & Clean v2.4.3 rom.
And this problem occurred in 2days ago,
I have reinstalled the rom with 4 wipe.
But the problem is still there.
Hope you can answer me.
I have flashed another rom ROMOW-V1.
It is a new rom which launch recently.
The wifi issue seems to be disappear,
but it still needs to wait for a few days to confirm.
Thank you
Unfortunately, the issue has not gone.
It still annoys me which cause my phone sleep of death twice.
I want to find out what's happen to my phone, thank you!!

[Q] Vibrant Shutdowns

Hey guys, long time xda user but never really bothered making an account and posting lol, but **** just got serious so I need some specific help. So I have been flashing roms almost since the first day I got this phone, never had a problem not even flashing ICS roms. But in this case, I was running [ROM] Blue 2.2 Frankenstein-FishmanMod Final and it was working perfect, had battery for days, no lag , and everything was smooth as usual. Then out of the blue, my vibrant decides to shutdown(no I still got plenty of battery left), so I wouldnt call this an infinite reboot because it doesnt reboot it just shuts down every time I turn it back on! It usually shuts down a couple of secs after I turn it on. And now im having a hard time even getting to CWM. I tried odin(multiple times) but no cigar, problem still persist. WTF . Does anyone know what I can do?
You could try to wipe everything if the phone dosent shutsdown, did you try using Heimdall(I think thats the name) and what especific problem you have with Odin?
