I was trying to root my friends phone and I temp rooted it I was trying to use the Vodaphone guide to downgrade the hboot. The instructions were to flash a rom. Since I got root I clear the cache and other factory files. Now the phone wont even boot. It had been on the HTC screen for sometime. I took out the battery and now can't even turn the phone on. Any ideas?

Good morning,
just reboot into recovery, do a full wipe and try again.
This will happen from time to time with a bad flash.
If it continues to happen, I guess we will wait for someone elses opinion.
To reboot into recovery, I believe you have to hold the up or down volume while pressing the power on button at the same time. Have patience with it, sometimes you wont get it the first time.
The problem is that I can't even get the phone to turn on. I don't know what's wrong. I feel so bad. It still has s on. I don't know what to do.

Pull the battery, let out sit for a few minutes then try again. If that doesn't work, and you have sdk/adb set up on your computer, see if adb will recognize the device, if so..do

Could somone help me? I need to get back to S-ON
Just hope they don't charge. I asked the same thing before I shipped it out. Luckily they just emailed me today saying it's fixed and said they are going to ship back. How did you damage the port?
I mistakenly tried to put the wrong side of the charger plug in.
Very sensitive the port is

That won't over write the hboot. You need to be able to push the hboot with adb from recovery. Really not sure if there is a way to do it without a USB connection. Maybe in a terminal emulatorwhile booted although I am not sure if trying to push an hboot while fully booted

So, does anyone know if they can even tell? at this point the device wont power on, but they would have to repair it and charge it up to even know its rooted, right?

Correct. And the only way to do this would be to somehow dd a stock HBOOT (I could provide one) over the revolutionary one, and reflash the stock ROM. It would go like this, but since your device isn't powered it's kinda useless:
1. Install the stock RUU on your device (extract the rom.zip from it, google extract rom.zip extract RUU) rename the rom.zip PG41IMG and place on sdcard >>> reboot into hboot.
2. After 2 complete passes, reboot into the system with the hboot of the RUU on the sd. DD it using Terminal Emulator (a command like this, don't actually run it: dd if=/hboot.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18)
3. Reboot into fast boot to confirm the stock restore.
4. ???
5. Profit
Now obviously the device will require power here and when I used this method I had to stop midway to charge, so even 40% battery isn't an option.
EDIT: If you can get some battery, just do HTC Unlock. Although it's a warranty void, I think HTC would provide support rather to the guy who used their tools instead of a third party one.
My 2 cents, but their 1950 special edition ones so don't lose em!
Oh yeah I just realized you could take your sdcard out and put it into the computer to put files on it, if you can even get it charged though :/

Okay. So your saying that since it can't boot I'm fine, the would HAVE to fix it because it disent have enough charge?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I had the same problem back in December. My advice is to turn off your device and conserve as much battery power as you can until you figure out what to do, because once you run out, you're stuck. Unfortunately for me, I found out my port was broken when I plugged it in when I ran out of batteries. I sent it to HTC though, and within a couple weeks I had it back, with HC on it. If you do send it in, make sure to back everything up because they flashed mine.

Well if HTC fixes the port and charges it up and finds revolutionary, I doubt they would refuse to send it back. They've fixed it already.
there have been a couple of people who managed to charge their flyer by taking off the back plate and charging the battery directly. This would only fix a portion of your problem. In the end if you do not have usb connectivity I am not sure you can replace the Hboot. If the port is broken it really has nothing to do with being S Off. I can not see why it would impact the repairs, although I think you stand a decent chance of recieving an invoice.
I was running mlk's ics release on my evo 3d. I had hboot 1.40 and s-off. I had no problems flashing the rom and I was using it with no problems.I have been using it since it was released. No issues. Yesterday, I just went to reboot the system through the advance power menu. The phone went dead immediately, mind you my phone is fully charged. I tried going into recovery using the usual vol down + power, phone doesnt respond. I plug in the usb cable and tried it again, no luck. So I tried pressing all the buttons (power, vol up, vol down and camera button) the phone flashes the htc screen then shuts off. That is the only response I get. When I use adb devices it lists this:
"HT16FHX07713 recovery"
I can get the phone to do the same thing as mentioned above when i do "adb reboot recovery", it just flashes the htc screen for less than a second then goes off while still showing that it is charging.
Can anyone shed some light on what I can do to fix this? If you need any info, let me know and I'll try to provide what I can. Thanks
I see that you tried adb reboot recovery but have you tried adb reboot bootloader?
Thanks, that was the only thing I didnt try. Tried it just now and the bootloader just loaded up. What should I do now? I'm kind of rusty and that its been awhile since I flashed/rooted an android phone.

Sorry for the late reply, got busy. I'm sure you've figured it out by now. If it were me, I'd just flash a pg86img of 4ext (let me know if you need it) and then flash a rom.

Here ya go man, just change the name to PG86IMG.zip and when you boot into the system don't forget to rename it again.

I have two evos and the other got stuck at the HTC boot screen where it says quietly brilliant. I didn't notice it was stuck since I had walked away and it overheated severely. I held the power to turn it off but from that point on I couldn't turn it on at all.
Any suggestions? Is it a lost cause?

Try plugging it in and letting it sit a while, let it cool down first, maybe the battery needs to recover, heat can damage the battery

what om4 said, it might just have been a heat issue...the same thing happens if your computer over heats, it will reboot/shutdown on its own to cool itself down
Thanks for your responses guys.... Unfortunately it still won't turn on, the charging light won't come on either after trying different chargers.
Is there a way to turn on the phone through ADB? I have never tried it but does anyone know if it's possible?

Nope
Isn't it possible to boot thru fastboot using 'fastboot reboot system' ? Provided you can get into your hboot.

If they said they could get to hboot but if you can't boot normally then you can't fastboot a reboot either

Yeah, if you plug in your phone to a computer (Linux is a bit better for this) do you get a new device discovery in Windows? Do you have some COM devices or Modems in your Device Manager in Windows?
You might be in the emergency download mode. There can be hope.

how long does it took to send and mail back to you:cyclops:
It have the HTC warranty not sprint but HTC have to offer warranty to every device they sell but only on the software part. It depends because i live in NY it took like one week to get to Texas and one week to get here again but I know that they fixed it in one day because I called.

Hey guys,
i bought a HTC Hero to fix, it came today and has a weird problem;
The last owner rooted it and flashed CM7, but it won't boot, just stays at the Hero screen, after a few battery pulls it does boot into Safe Mode where it can be used to a limited amount
The best bit is it won't reboot into recovery, and when i try the key combo for fastboot it shows up then after a second reboots the phone
I don't know if any of you have seen this before, i'm gonna try some stuff this afternoon to get it running again, i just wondered if you guys have any ideas about whats happened to it!
Update: RUUd it back to stock 2.1
Only boots into safe mode though, and still no sign of a recovery mode
