Considering you are in the Amaze section, Everyone is biased for the amaze.
The same thing would go for the sensation forums.
You'll never get a straight answer really, everyone is biased to a certain degree.

what happens when you pick the sensation because of early ics and then when you get it ics just comes out for the amaze? what happens: you feel dumb.
no HW problems? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. that phone felt like it was about to break everytime I took the battery cover off.
edit: do you think I should sell my amaze for the g1 because it has better development and no HW issues? hmm

ive never had problems taking the back cover off my sensation, nor did i ever feel like it was going to break, its pretty damn sturdy, definitely more so than a sgs2...
however i was super afraid that one day i may drop my amaze and the screen would shatter to ****, after all the raised screen looks cool, but leaves it more exposed and vulnerable to cracking when dropped
and no i hate using cases with any of my phones, i just don't wanna add anymore bulk to an already big phone, and with the sensation i feel like if i accidentally drop it, it'll survive just fine, just like my old mt4g
and since the sensation has been out a lot longer than the amaze, it also means you can get it for a lot cheaper, having ics a little earlier is just a little plus lol

I guess it can go both ways. the screen on the amaze feels more vulnerable and the whole body of the sensation does.

true, each phone has its quirks, but i still think you can't go wrong with either phone imo
I have the Amaze 4G for me the design of the htc sensation is better than the amaze, internals of the amaze, and to me the sensation has better battery life(i'm using the extended anker battery). I got the amaze and haven't looked back though

It is a general forum....but I do admit this is odd. But it is humorous, and way better than the stupid **** that shows up here.
On a side note, the people who flame a post are just as bad as the idiot who posted it. I mean, another great forum that I visit once in a while (nothing like I do here) is phandroid's forums. Yes there is stupid **** posted there, but it is either ignored and someone kindly responds and aids the confused individual. Here...it turns into a week long flame war.

Hello,
For worst case 50 Dollars if you were a 4G Owner, the 3VO has got to be one of the most cost effective upgrades ever in Cell Phones.
Even if one finds 3D hokey, the Storage Space, far superior Processing Power, qHD Display, Sense 3.0 (I know some do not care for it), etc, the juice is so worth the squeeze that it is laughable.
My main annoyance is how far out the Camera is from the Casing. I kept the Plastic Wrapping on the Phone until I put it in an Otterbox Defender. I wish the Commuter had Protection for the Camera as the Defender is a beast, but it is what it is.

Who gives a flying **** how many pages the evo 3d dev section has. The phone alone had millions of dollars in pr thrown at it. Have u you even seen an ad on tv for the photon? I am guessing not. The fact is the evo 3d was very disappointing and did not live up to the hype that was created for it.

Yet you haven't given us any reasons why you think this. Hence the problem so many have with your first post in the Evo 3D section.
Oh, and a huge amount of people care about how many pages the Evo 3D has. These forums are pretty widely known for people who like to root and play with their phones. If you can't do that with the Photon, the Photon forums here will be a ghost town.

The Photon has been out for two days, forum opened yesterday and reported just rooted, so what do you expect as to the number of threads?
Somebody needs to close this useless thread. Hopefully they did the same at the E3D forum. This my baby is prettier and smarter than your baby crap is for children.

Did quick search it. Seems to me that either you are in or not. With our phone being difficult to get the basics functional, the practice of running off the guys that move development forward is slowing progress to a crawl.

I know I personally stopped participating in getting on people who harass the devs or intentionally start drama because the mods say that it's not the communities job to do that. It's theirs. But, it is what it is. I'll still be on this phone until my contract is up. Which is a long time, so most of us aren't going anywhere.

Its nice to see I am not the only one who is feeling the same way. The saddest thing is the only people truly hurt by this are the end users like us...
My guess is when they crack the hboot 1.5 and everyone is fully rooted there will be alot more roms and devs back on track..

that and they have a much bigger dev coummunity!! SGSII on t-mobile basically swayed many many more people towards it than the amaze, they both came out at the same time...if the amaze would have been released on a different date we would see a different dev community. rezound also has more bling with the beats audio, so more people buy it and it has a 720p screen, same camera as the htc amaze...its a better version of our phone...If I had the money to pay monthly for the verizon plans I would have def gone with the rezound over any phone. I think it's the best phone on the market right now. IMO amaze is the best phone on t-mobile right now.
I think the amaze is sexier though. Lol, freakin rezound man =[

I know this question wasn't directed toward me but I'll answer...
I came from a Blackberry and the Amaze is my first android phone. First day I got it I was hooked and did tons of research on Rooting it (didn't even know what rooting was/is)
Totally hooked now, if I knew about the whole ROM/rooting thing before the amaze, I probably would have went a different route, with a different phone that had more devs.
Ah well, patience is a virtue. Whatever that means!

I understand. The ''hold up'' that HTC has caused with the not releasing source, S-on, etc will pass. When? If HTC keeps it's word and update the Amaze this quarter with ICS, that will definitely breath new life into development.

I had I a mytouch slide, but I began hacking and stuff when my mom wanted froyo on her g1. I liked android soooo I got the slide. After like 9 months the slide began to give me problems, like whenever I slide out the keyboard the screen would get screwed, the volume keys were broken don't ask me why, oh, and I was in my car and it fell on a plastic cup with water. I got the amaze after like 2 weeks after its release, I've watched its development grow

I don't know about that man... Were you impressed with HTC's 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0 for our Amaze right out of the box? 'Cause I wasn't
The only good thing I can see about HTC releasing ICS is so our devs here can use that code to make better custom ROMs since we have no support from CyanogenMod

Coming from the sensation, let's just say my expectations was not met in regards to Sense, but I knew this before I bought the device. That being said, this device is what the sensation was suppose to be in terms of sheer power (1gb RAM, S3 1.5 snapdragon, 2.2 camera sensor, etc.) I'm convinced I made the right decision, HTC just dragging thier a**!

I came from the Hero which had lots of devs, cm support and a great and supportive community. I have to say that I haven't found the Amaze community to be as welcoming and helpful. Half the responses to questions are "do a search." I know I'll get flamed for saying this but I suspect that I'm not alone. I love the Amaze, but I'm beginning to feel like I've chosen the wrong phone.
I really hope that when ICS source is released dev takes off and I'm proven wrong.
Maybe I'm just in a bad mood right now.

I hate TouchWiz too, but even back then when I ran stock on my SGS I just used a third party launcher over it and it worked well... You shouldn't let TouchWiz be a deal breaker for you, especially since you could replace the whole Samsung framework with CyanogenMod

I agree. The Amaze community is somewhat hostile and counter-productive. I know a few devs that I talk to often that feel this way as well. While the redundancy of certain questions can be answered but simply searching, 5 individuals saying search could be avoided if only one of them actually answered the question IMO.
Realistically, I see "do a search" more than I see the actual question being asked or answered.

The reason why we say do a search is because we have 3 threads that are stickied. We have been received the same questions over and over and if you look at these 3 threads, it should answer your question. If it doesn't, then make a thread about it.

There should be no reason why you should ignore it. I spent time and effort searching through the whole forum of questions so I can make my FAQ thread. If I did that to make life simple for people, they should atleast take the time to look through it. We put our time and effort to make life simple but people do not choose to read, which aggravates us.
Sorry for sounding like a jacka$$, but I am simply trying to show you why we tell people to search. If they just look at the stickied threads, they will save themselves time as well as ours.

dsb9938 does some great work. As a (non-Android) developer myself, I know how frustrating it can be when software issues arise, especially when you have ungrateful users that feel like they are entitled to a piece of software that is developed for free by someone in their spare time that asks for nothing in return. It's disgusting. This is why we can't have nice things.
I hope that dsb9938 decides to come back. We need people like him to help unlock our devices full potential. Screw the whiners. Let them be drown in their own misery.

I was really dissapointed when I see closing threads of DSB. I was using his great kernel. He made so much for us... WTF. I missed a lot. Is there anything we can do to deal somehow the issue with this lurke69 ??

kids who read GPL and think they are owed, and DESERVE something. people like DSB do it in his free time, and people expect paid support.

All i have to say about all of this is. Anyone should be able to say there opinion. That is in a good way. If you are just writing a post to piss someone off i believe that you should be banned from the forums. No ifs, and's, or buts.
It is ridiculous anyone would grip about a mod that clearly starts off with the phrase "I am in no way responsible..." I haven't even switched from the stock rom just because I want things to work. If I was willing to explore and felt like reloading my setup to switch roms, I wouldn't *****. It is to be expected. When a new rom is released, I wait to see what the issues (if any) are before I would attempt a re-flash.
There are good devs on this board but I have seen quite a few of them get chased away by whiners and complainers. Hell, I am still using a rom from Roebeet on my GTab who used to be here but left for the same reason. He actually started his own website to build roms. It is a hobby, not a job. Don't expect stuff and you will not be disappointed.
Just remember, a lot of these whiners are the new generation who will be running this country in a few years and making it suck for all of us.
So I just picked up my replacement DNA last night and it just hit me. How am I going to unlock and root without the unsecured kernel? Or anybody else for that matter. This is bigger than first imagined if only very early adopters have root. Wow this sucks bad.

While Luke's comments weren't "productive" , they also were not rude or ban worthy. While I enjoy dsb's work, he has a bad attitude in general and I thought it was disrespectful as well as made him look like a giant cry baby for saying he'd never release anything else because Luke asked him to have some accountability for the fact he messed up on his latest kernel, 2.3.1 which was rebooting everybodies phones. Luke may have gone about it the wrong way, but I believe he felt as I did. Felt that dsb was ignoring the fact that there was something seriously wrong with his latest kernel. Dsb had incinuated that it wasn't his kernel that made everbodies phones lock up and reboot, but it was "problems with the phone, even on stock". Nobody minds if you make a mistake and your work directly messes up phones. At least take responsibility and admit you were wrong so you can start working on a fix. Also dsb was frequently rude to commentors who did nothing wrong or acted flip towards them. This behavior is simply unacceptable especially for a recognised developer. Recognized developers represent xda and they should carry themselves with respect for others and themselves while posting on the forums, even if others don't always.

You can still do all those things. I followed the cube kernal from day one and to me the luke guy is being made a villian here. don't know him, don't care to know him. but DSB was very sarcastic to him on the forums. that's when they both started talking crap. either way it sucks and hope he decides to return. i used all the kernals he made and ended up sticking with the unsecured. but swipe to unlock was great. unless you've read the entire cube thread don't jump to judge.
Luke *****ed about every build and he kept egging on the dev every chance he could. As noted in another thread about this, Luke was rude to the moderators too so it's not just DSB.

Luke definitely is missing a filter. Again for me this isn't about Luke's actions but Dsb's. Dsb will constantly run into lukes everywhere in life. Not just on the forums. My advice to dsb is to work on his forbearance for others.
