Anyone got a replacement from sprint in the past couple days or so? If so what Hboot did it have, and was it a refurb? I am talking about via mail, not from a store. Unless maybe the store ordered it for you. Am I leaving any scenarios out? lol I could care less about a refurb, just want to be able to root with Alpha
Thanks
Nobody has gotten a replacement lately?
I'm wondering the same, guy at sprint ordered me one, and I'm ocd about having refurbs lol.. won't get it till next week or so though..
I am not worried so much about a refurbished as I am the 1.50 hboot. The Evo 3d.is cool and all but without custom kernel it may as well be stock. I guess if worse comes to worse we can buy one from eBay and sell our replacements!

I should hopefully get a replacement one soon too. I'll update or post here with the results.

Yes, but if the device is unlocked with HTC method Roma are flashable but not kernels. Or from what I have read anyway.

I got my tracking info, says shipment weighs .60 lbs, my original shipment weighed 1.30 lbs. I got a REFURB Its OK as long as it is Alpha approved, lol. Oh and no green hue, no dead pixels, no overheating, no tilted screen, did I leave anything out? Oh, yeah, NO LIGHT BLEED! lmao
I got a replacement last Friday.
1.40 bootloader!
##786# says it is new, not refurbished.
It does, however, randomly reboot 2x a day or more. Once it starts rebooting, only a clean shutdown will atio it from recurring every 5 minutes.
It is more stable than what it replaced, but not stable enough.

Looks like you flashed over something you shouldn't have. If you can post the updater script I will be able to tell you which one it was but unfortunately you'll still need to get it replaced.
Also make sure your kitchen is up to date, the pre evo 3d versions didn't know which partitions to use and will set it to the wrong one.

I got mine through sprint's insurance. It was the "mail it to your house then put the old one in the included prepaid envelope" thing.
It was a phone and back plate only...no battery, no memory card, no charger, no retail packaging.
Got mine about a hour ago, came with 1.40 Hboot. Phone is also brand new and I dont see any issues, yet. It came like the above post, a phone and a back, nothing more. I did S-off before activating that way I avoid error 16, or at least it should.
Chat with sprint for activation went smoothly, nandroided and loaded my back up on new phone. It's like a bad dream and miss it over, lol.
Going to sprint in a few should I return my current phone to stock?

a buddy of mine told me that if you currently own a tbolt and call Verizon Wireless complaining about certain issues, they replace it with a Rezound. Has anyone heard anything about this?
If you get your Thunderbolt replaced for valid insurance purposes, they will replace it with a rezound since most, but not all, Verizon stores are out of Thunderbolts.
Some times, though, you won't be offered a rezound. Rather, you may get offered a LG Revolution... which sucks.
There is a post about it here:

You have to push a little if they don't offer it. We got my wife's Charge replaced with a Rezound last night. Took some prodding, they wanted to offer a Stratosphere or Spectrum or Nexus. When we pushed, they offered the Rezound or Bionic as well.
Just had my Thunderbolt replaced for a broken screen through the insurance of Verizon and I still got a Tbolt for a replacement . Guess they found some more.....

Same here. When I talked to the Rep at Asurion about my phone (sucky data connection) I hinted about the rezoned replacement. He told me that they have plenty of TBs around. Which is fine, I like the TB when it's working, with a good ROM it doesn't really matter what the phone is to me.

I think he's talking about my phone being replaced under the phone insurance program (Asurion). This is my 3rd TB from them so I think it's paid off. It's the first phone I bought insurance on and I'm glad I did. Having to cough up several hundred dollars for a new phone would suck.
Edit: Looks like they are out of refurbs at Asurion. I got a brand spanking new TB yesterday. It works beautifully (for now) I'm going to let it sit stock for a few days to make sure but then Jester's ICS will be on there in no time.

The Rezound. Personal preference, but the big part for me is the SD card. Yes, the Nexus has a slightly larger screen, and is, well, a Nexus device, but overall I just really have liked HTC's devices.

I know this was already answered but I thought I would share my (almost) awesome experience. Went into Big Red last week with my dead bolt. Employee took me through the crap troubleshooting process and set up the replacement order. Come to find out the order was for a GS3. Would have been sad to leave the amazing bolt community but hey, it's a new phone. Anyways, I get the package and low and behold... It's a friggin LG Lucid Went back to Verizon and eventually got another bolt. Just goes to show you never know what these guys will do.

I'm interested because superCID and s-off wont work with the new OTA and I will be really, really sad if mine comes with the OTA.
If you get it more recently then it will probably have the update. Most of them that people are getting more recent have it. You would be lucky if it didn't.

I got mine on Monday activated at the store, a few minutes later after the sales rep handed it to me it prompted me to update. Luckily I came to this forum before going to the store. Got home supercid, rooted, then s-offed. I Upgraded from a Tegra 3 One X and I'm loving this beauty
I got one last Saturday and it prompted me for the update a few minutes after activating it. I had to exchange it this past Thursday (screen cracked at corner of top speaker) and the new one prompted me as well.

Yesterday
I got the DNA yesterday. I'm a HTC whore going back to the 8525. Any phones I have tried other than HTC and I alwys seem to fidn reason to ditch them.
The DNA however may change my feelings. Not because of HTC but because of Big red. The limited storage which create the need for cloud service is also another reason. A of now most cloud service is free but as more and more people move to the service free will be long forgotten in the cry of
"To much cost to host so manu people" and then boom, the fee's will start.
Yea, I'm on a rant, and i assume you wanna know about the OTA. Got my dna yesterday, I am coming from a Thunderbolt. My phone did not have the ota however every 5min or so a friendly reminder to DL the update keeps popping up.
I did get root (if ya wanna call it that) via HTC dev by using the "other supported device" option in the links. The email was very fast and the token worked. I just now got a stock rom DL and am going to load onto the phone.
If you get your dna in the next few weeks you may be ok but as the supply of phones drops new phones will have the OTA in place. Also keep in mind this applie to insurance as well. IE you drop your phone call INS to get new one.
You may wish to look at other options if you wish fro true freedom in a phone. Soff on this phone is a ways away.

This happened like 5 minutes ago and I'm freaking out. My One is rooted and running CM10 5-22-13 Nightly. I haven't had any issues since updating it last Thursday. I was watching this youtube video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06xF46tIkmA&feature=youtu.be> on a friends facebook and when the stick figure in the cartoon explodes my One just shuts off. I tried holding down power and volume down. I tried plugging it in to power but to no avail. Anybody have any suggestions? It hasn't been a month since I've had it but I rooted using HTC's dev site. I think this negates my warranty... FML...
Leave it off the charger overnight and try to boot into bootloader again.. If your not getting anything while plugged in then your bricked. Any lights or screen action and you'll be fine.
If your bricked I'd tell them it downloaded an ota update and got stuck half way through and won't turn on anymore. If it won't boot there's no way to tell it was ever rooted and rom'd

So if I take it back to the place I bought it they won't go back to HTC's dev site to see if my IMEI was used to turn S-off? Thanks for the advice. I will try it. If it doesn't turn back on I will take it back to Sam's Club where I bought it. They have a pretty decent return policy.

Well since there hasn't been issues of other Ones with CM dying, i'd say you didn't do anything wrong, you didn't brick it. Something failed, probably would've happened if you were bone stock. Update
So I ended up going to an AT&T DSC location. The people there were really nice but not very knowledgable about smartphones. Pretty much just looked at the One, tried turning it on and declared it dead after not being able to turn it back on. They had to back order me another one which they will send priority. They also ordered me a 64gb instead replacing my 32gb haha. I had also dropped my One, my first week, while running because it was too big for my arm band and got a few scratches. AT&T FTW!
Getting a CPO GS4 tomorrow from Verizon. What are the chances that its running the OLD software? Ya know, the "rootable" one? Hoping so.

Chances are 70 30. Im on my first GS4 and I had a new one sent to me becsuse it overheated but I got one and the paint was chipped and the 3rd overheated so I never switched away from my first one..all were running MDK. Getting my CPO in a couple days because I went to a higher representative and said I had to wait for my other phones to be receive in the warehouse. Before you put your SIM in the phone, root it and install a custom rom that blocks otas.
Oh yeah. Definitely not gonna put the SIM in. And I mean its not gonna install an update unless I at least hit an "OK" at some point right?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
Yes it will. As soon as you hit wifi without a custom rom, the gs4 will autoupdate. I found out too late...

I got a new GS4 on contract with Verizon just last week (received 7/11). It had the old MDK kernel on it. I was able to deny installing the OTA update and root the next day. Used it normally as a phone in the mean time (wifi connections and all).
I guess I got lucky.
