First of all, you should read a little more. Make sure to not break the device.
It's very important read carefully the ROM installation's instructions before doing nothing.
You can begin whith this flastool guide, but read first!!

that guys say want ftf file...
where should i download it???
you got the link???

I need more info, the .ftf that you want... you mean the kernel file right???
I understand that you want is: Flash a custom kernel, and then install a custom rom, right??
I guess that you have the rom downloaded, you need the kernel, there is nAa's kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739
Steps:
1-Unlock Bootloader
2-Flash custom kernel&CMWRecovery with flashtool. Before you do this, paste kernel file in Flashtool 0.5.XX/Firmwares. Run Flashtool, and press Flash mode, and follow the screen instruccions.
3-Enter CMWRecovery and install custom rom. Don't forget to do the rom's necesary wipes.
Sorry for my english.

Please read the unlock-bootloader guide....it is a risky process if you skip or misinterpret any step....if you will do according to what is written...you won't have any problem...!!

Order or ROM/Kernel installation

My Mini Pro has been gathering dust, but with the new CM7 ROM/nAa Kernel I think it's about time I resurrected it.
So, first things first, I did a SE factory reset and flashed everything to normal as it would be out the box.
So then what's the order?
Do I need root?
Unlock the bootloader
Flash ROM
Flash Kernel
OR
Do I flash the Kernel then the ROM?
Looking at the instructions, for the Kernel it says I need CM7 installed, and for the ROM instructions it says I need the latest Kernel... so a little confused!
I'm sure I'm just missing the guide or post, so if someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Hi and welcome to X10 XDA first of all There are few steps you got to get through for safer flashing.
1)Update to OFFICIAL 2.3.3Gingerbread using latest SEUS/PC Companion by Sony to get Baseband 2.1.71 and Stock SEMC Kernel
2)Get Flashtool [newest or Older version] to Root your X10
3)INstalling Xrecovery [Optional but got benefits if you installed it]
4)[MUST]Using S1Tool, Check your SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE whether Setool2 or SemC. If one of two certificate is there, safe to unlock Bootloader. If No simlock certificate found, might be risky/problematic in unlocking bootloader process.
5)Download Necessary FTF files(called Flashtool Firmware) and ROM.Zip Files from the link of your desired ROM [To get Custom Kernel and CWM recovery flashing]
6)Unlocking Bootloader using Flashtools/Unlocking tools by senior 9luka5 [IF SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE FOUND] and Flash custom kernels, get to CWM recovery and flash ROM.zip..then reboot. First boot is longer abit, and if successful, will lead you to setup guide / homescreen.
Extra: If you wanna understand how things work or be done, you can visit my signature link for more reading materials. Although methods are older version abit, but trusted and Safer. Hope Helps. Cheers and Goodluck

After updating and installing xrecovery. You may try stock base rom like Fera NG, DonutHD etc. These are very cool.

dude, u got high expectation lol. u just bought the phone and u want to install the latest rom. possible.
ASK SOMEONE EXPERIENCED TO HELP YOU WITH THIS PROCESS. YOU CANT DO IT ALONE IF YOU JUST BOUGHT THE PHONE:
1) flash 2.1 stock rom
2) use z4root app to root ur phone
3) install busybox
4) unlock bootlaoder
5) install xRecovery
6) boot into xPrecovery
7) wipe date, cache, dalvik
8) fix permissions
9) install custom zip
10) choose the downlaoded zip file
11) flash the kernel and baseband files needed for ur rom (most likely two separate .ftf files: one for kernel one for baseband) using flashtool

1. Yes u can, with GB ftf file.
2. If u think on ROMs like CyanogenMod ROM answer is no, u must first unlock ur BL.
1. Of course u can, just download the file and flash it with flashtool
2. Some custom rom need unlock bootloaders to be installed, but another rom no need that.
I think if u want to install more custom rom, mod, root and etc, unlock bl is the best way

Guys, thank you very much. I succesfully downgraded to GB official stock ROM.
Now my last but very important question is - i dont like GB and i still dont like ICS (i downgraded only because of better battery life in GB), but i want to test some custom ROM (like AOKP rom posted in Sola section).
As much as i red i can not flash this ROM without unlocking the bootloader and installing CWM on my phone, is that right?
Actually the question i wanted to ask was - if i unlock bootloader can i flash custom rom with Flash Tool or i can flash only with CWM (which i dont know but i dont want to use)?
