I know it's maybe rude, same as people who come and ask for fast solution without reading first. Then we answer, then come another one and so on.. What is purpose of forum if not to keep answers written, so that next user can find them and use them.
Also I only told you that you need to search before starting new thread, you were the one calling names
About me being helpful or not helpful, check my posts and see if I help people or not.
Bottom line is, I did help you, I told you there are already threads with that problem.

Try my way, it stands in my signature and its working for sure and Madfysh have right but again just try my way buddy.
And the right files you need is in the thread of mine what you need, not so much
Good luck

What's new? What did I miss?

Like most people I got busy the last few weeks and now I feel like I'm completely lost to what's new. I tried finding websites listing all the new things that have happened but was unable.
I think having a thread listing all the new developments would be appreciated by many and would eliminate a lot of threads.
So since 1.83 I've been able to figure out that ginger bread is now available but you can't do the OTA update if you root, so a post saying ginger bread is out and how to install it would probably help a lot of people.
I know that web2sd is also working now and it allows you to put linux on your sd card.
This would be a good thread to mention the bootloader was cracked.
I haven't learned it all yet but would gladly explain more if I could.
If someone can elaborate on anything it would help.
An explanation on what pudding is would help me and I'm sure a lot of other people.

Listen, the point of these bulletin boards are to post "new developments". We spend our time posting, so the least you could do is read through our posts.
I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just not going to waste my time repeating what has already been posted in multiple threads.
This would also be a good thread to let people know about the hard brick issues with flashing, I still need to figure all that out before I say anything but it seems like you shouldn't preform any OTA updates after flashing to ginger bread?
I just think this thread would save a lot of peoples time instead of going through 30 pages of posts to figure everything out.
I'll explain as much as I can so people can just reference a post in this thread instead of digging through the original post.

That's the idea of this thread, to prevent multiple threads by just explaining it once here, so when someone wants to know what the deal is with something they read one post in here instead of sifting through the original.
I'm not trying to be rude either but you wasted some time posting that. I just thought this would make it easier on people and prevent multiple threads.
You dont have to help or if you already said it somewhere post the link and I'll explain it.
Edit: I think people would agree it's daunting to try and read all the posts in the past month to make sure you do everything in the right order to get the newest updates when you could reference this thread and learn it a lot faster.
Trust me, it would make things easier to read one thread than dozens and I've already read multiple "how to"threads when this one could have answered their question

How to return to 2.3.4 after updating top 2.3.6? STOCK

Ok like many others, I have horrible battery life since updating to 2.3.6.
I want to put 2.3.4 back on, since I never had any issues with it.
So is it possible to go back to Stock 2.3.4 from 2.3.6? If so, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
Thanks.

The reason I asked Mr Smarty pants is because I wasn't sure if it was able to downgrade the OS.
Wasn't the bootloaders updated in 2.3.6? Im not too hip with all that stuff. Im running stock and wanted to stay stock, but didn't know if upgrading to 2.3.6 was a one way trip.

So much energy is spent on hammering people for opening new threads and not searching.
Yes, we know we should search, but with all due respect the search doesn't always work that good. Instead of mocking, don't you think it would be shorter and friendlier to simply answer, or help directing the OP, like in the 2nd reply in this post? Just a thought.

The thread about going back to 2.3.4 was on the first page of the General forum when this thread was created (yeah, I checked). Didn't even need to do a search to find it, just look. That's the height of laziness to not even make a cursory look of the threads before starting a new one. Curbing future misbehavior benefits the forum because NO ONE in here is paid to be here. This is NOT the Help Desk. You do best to remember that when you come in. The help you get is a gift and following the rules shows you respect that.

Generally speaking, do search in the thread first, say you're running AOKP ROM, then search within that AOKP thread for answer first. If generic issue like OP stated, search within this forum, i777. Then expand the search to XDA site and finally Google.
To OP, my suggestion, pls do provide more info if you want more useful help.

Each person, each case is different.
P.S. "i have another post with a-lot more information on what is happening" is totally useless, next time post related info within the OP. No one will search your "another post" for info.
Thanks for the heads up. I cand do everything normally, but it says your device does not support updating via kies. I want sure if it was csc settings or what.

Like the majority of us, we were excited when we got out SIII's however all the information you need is contained with the SIII walls on this particular corner of XDA. What people are suggesting is you take a look for yourself first and have a read of all things before asking such a question as the answer is but a quick look around.
So, instead of spoon feeding, go for a wander and have a look. You will be amazed at all the info there.

As Mr Tuff said......we at XDA are here to serve you and all your smartphone needs. please put your phone into download mode open Odin and click repartition and add any random .Tar file ( jellybean will be in there somewhere, have faith ) then click start.
now once you do this you will need to send your phone off to a repair shop where they will activate your newely installed JB build on your phone.
then just wait.........
Hope this helps......................................Probably will not though, lol

If you can't follow those excellent HOWTOs & FAQs you surely DON'T want to flash your phone. If you have a specific question, ask in the thread about flashing and installing. This here won't help you a bit.

Ya, I agree with this.
Op, just enjoy your phone for now the way it is, the JB leaks are not for people with little experience in these matters.
Hang around xda for a while and learn how things work here, learn why making these threads is frowned upon, read through the JB threads, learn from them.
Then, when you feel comfortable enough to flash it on your own, you are ready to give it a go.

[Q] Untouched Stock JB 4.1.2 XWLS8 zip version?

Hello guys, I was wondering if there is a available clean untouched stock JB 4.1.2 XWLS8 rom in zip format?
What i mean by zip is the file that can be placed on the sd card and flashed directly via CWM recovery?
I am not very comfortable with using PC Odin, and would prefer to install the rom from the phone. If one is available can someone provide link, if not then can our developers kindly make one. Thanks

There is only "too many" because you're been lazy and not trying to use search. Rule #1 of XDA rules is that you should use search before creating topics etc.
I'm not going to link you directly to rom because you wont learn nothing but if for example you had thought about using search you could have put xwls8 as keyword, set it to search titles only and chose the Galaxy S II Original Android Development forum as your desired forum to search.
Please think about what state this forum would be in if nobody used searched and created a topic asking other people where things are it would be a complete mess and to be honest its on that way anyway so please try and use search first before creating topics.
I am not a developer, there are too many roms, and also everyone is not familiar with all the technical jargon. The whole point of q and a is to help people and direct them in the right direction according to their needs. Atleast my question isnt as silly as some of the stuff you see here.

Yes, however its not there to be spoon feed you, ie used instead of search button and expecting everybody else to do your searching for you.
Users are expected top use search first before creating topic. For the most part in 99% of cases somebody has already asked your question. In this case you could have answered it yourself within seconds by using search in way I described above.

Correct, However that is still no excuse.
Okay by providing one link it would have solved the issue, but some wise people like to prolong a simple answer. Happy days
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
The point is you can easily find this information yourself. You're obviously too lazy to do that, you also clearly feel entitled to someone else doing the 'easy thing' for you - searching for a link; do you honestly believe everyone has this info right at their fingertips ? Most don't. Most people would have to search for it. In the time you'd wait for someone who did have the link on hand without searching for it, you could find it yourself, flash the rom & be on your merry way.
This is something you're capable of doing yourself. It comes down to whether you do the 'easy thing', or whether someone else does it.
I don't see why someone else should, and I absolutely think your expectation that other people should do something so simple for you is appalling.
This isn't your carrier's forum. You haven't paid XDA any money so you have no right to expect anything of the people here.
