yeh doesnt work it says MD5 mismatch

1.open sd card in windows.
2.download 2 softwares ( md5 calculator and notepad++) jus google them and install.
3.open clockwork folder in sd via computer->backup->(your back).
4.now right click on nandroid.md5 and edit with notepad++
5.green highlighted phrase is a key.
6.right click on rest every file in backup folder individually->md5 calculator
7.match the key to that of notedpad++ file
8.if they dont match copy key from md5 calculator and paste in notepad
9.save and exit.
10.now try recovery it;ll work.

i noticed it worked this way when i replaced the boot file and nandroid file with a previous made nandroid full backup

Will this method work if you get a different device? Say downgrading from a Vibrant to a MT4G?

I've never tried with my other phones, see no reason why not though.

From rommanager flash clock work recovery then boot into recovery and find the zip and flash
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes rename the zip file to update.zip but that should have already been done when you rooted your phone.
^ no. you never rename a rom.
Flash cwr
Reboot into cwr
Install zip from sd
Check out the noob guide (signature) for much more detail and steps.
You can do it from rom manager, but cwr still needs to be flashed.

Rom Kitchen With Checkromv4

Is anyone else experiencing difficulty with the Kitchen in this version? None of the kitchen tweaks will work, they download fine, and it goes thru the regular process of installing, however none of the programs seem to be functioning after installation. Just checking with anyone else before I try re flashing. I did do a full wipe before install.
2.3.6
xxki4
Siyah 2.3
Checkrom V4
The same thing is happening with me. It downloads the files just fine but when it tries to install them, it restarts to the wrong recovery (not clockworkmod). You can see the things fail installing because of the <!> that comes up in the recovery for a split second.
How can we get it working? The only way I've done it is to manually restart to the right recovery, and then manually install each zip.
Reinstall the kitchen app

Try installing them from recovery, you have to delete or rename the clockworkmod folder on the external sd card in order to install things directly from the kitchen.

Some of the mods might not work if the kernel is incompatible to those specific mods

salted_hash in clockworkmod folder
Found the culprit:
Q: I am not able to flash via Kitchen???
A: Delete Clockworkmod folder
Reason:
Previously to make the kitchen flash in older version of CWM5 we need to use a salte hash file that was placed in the Clockworkmod folder, Now with the updated CWM5 the actually problem with CWM5 was fixed by the respective creator!
So now what happens is that all you people have that salted hash file remaining in ur sd card that doesn't allow to flash stuff in the newer better CWM5, thats why when u delete the Folder it stats working coz the salted hash file gets deleted!
Now you may ask why delete the folder, when u can delete the file only!!
LOL answer is simle the Android os never recognizes the file there so when u open myfiles you never find the salted hash file inside the clockworkmod folder! You can use other apps and methods to delete the file but then there is the obvious questions from noobs!!
So Moral the problem is only with that one salted hash file and not ur backup.

So you can delete the entire folder, or just the "/sdcard/clockworkmd/.salted_hash" file. This worked for me.
Correct just the salted hash needs to go, there's no need to lose your backups. If you do delete the folder next time you do a nandroid it will only get recreated without the salted hash.

Just to check with you guys. is there any wipe of checkrom available?it appears that there is only the no-wipe version.

[q] İcs remİx rom v7.1 help

Hi,
I currently own a rooted SGS2,
I rooted it yesterday and it has Superuser and CMW.
I am trying to flash İCS REMİX ROM V7.1 XXLP2 4.0.3 resurrection
Ive downloaded and put it into phone/clockworkmod/backup folder (or whever it is supposed to be)
when i reboot my phone into CMW recovery mode and i choose to restoe the downloaded custom Rom, it says it cannot find system.img cache.img etc etc.. and then it says it has skipped the restore process.
when i checked the folder that i downloaded from İCS REMİX ROM V7.1 XXLP2 4.0.3 resurrection, all the files are in .tar format except the boot.img
anyone know how to solve this??
Some1 just had same problem, and I thinkbthe files are in tar format so if they are, learn more about flashing.

CWM backup
It is a CWM backup, you have to put the zip file you get after unrar in the folder sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. DO NOT UNZIP
I did that, and after I unrar-ed the downloaded file, I got a folder containing tar files , one md5 file and a boot.img
I also had some trouble restoring this ROM and what worked for me was to get a standard 4.0.3 ROM that you can install from zip from the sdcard and then only do the restore from the backup as they say in the intro of that thread.
Hope this helps

I currently do have a different 4.0.3 Rom installed from zip on my Galaxy s2,
so what you did was you did a restore from backup with ICS remix rom 7.1??
Yes I unzipped the File and copied the folder to the clockworkmod/backup folder. Then boot into cwm go backup and restore and restore from that date folder. Thanks to Wescrip and all the dev on that thread. They've done an awesome job so far.

I did exactly what you mentioned above, however I get error messages such as data.img not found cache.img not found,... then it says it's skpped it all and the restoration process becomes aborted...
is it because the files in the folder are in .tar format not .img?
That might be a problem with the Kernel or the CWM version you using. Not too sure.
What I can tell you is these are the steps I followed and they worked 100% for me.
1. For the first ROM i installed I downloaded this one - http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS2/roms/CM9ICS/update-cm-9-SGS2-01122012-signed.zip
(Thanks to max at galaxy S2root.com for the link)
2. I did a full wipe and factory reset from CWM and then installed this zip file from sdcard.
3. I booted my phone and let it start up. Then switch off again and go into CWM.
4. Then chose restore from backup and restore (as you will see CWM is now 5.5.x.x which might have a influence not sure)
5. Let it start up and bob's your uncle.
Edit : just fyi there seems to be a problem with the cwm that comes with that rom as it doesn't read the sdcard and I couldn't restore from it. So either you must flash a new cwm from odin when you want to restore to your old rom or install the first rom again so you have a working one and then restore.

just save as .txt then change the extension to md5 using file explorer or similar.
if you long press on a file in file explorer it should popup with some options. Select rename and change the extension from txt to md5

First off, don't rename a cmw backup... trust me, if you rename the zip it will cause an md5 mismatch when you try and restore and that always tends to happen when ya need it most.
Second the file you are looking for is either on your SD or your internal storage, the file si called clockworkmod or something like that, inside you will see a file labled backup. Delete as you will, but I always tend to transfer said files onto my pc and title an individual folder for each file, there for eliminated the irritation of md5 mismatch.

You should be able to restore the folder , by booting into recovery , and running a new backup.
This will force place a new backup file to the SD card in the proper location.
If this does not work , or the backup fails to run, you must reflash the recovery using Odin ....g
you are using cwm and not twrp right? if using twrp the backups are in folder named twrp on internal or external which ever one you specified when backing up.
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
/sdcard/external_sd/clockworkmod/backup
Are you rooted?
Are you on a stock-based rom and not a CM-based rom?
