you can't miss something cos if so your phone won't boot up, i think call bestbuy first and make sure your phone is unlocked when you deliver your phone to them.

NO!!!! That is INCORRECT! Make sure you phone is LOCKED before you take it to best-buy or Sprint!!!!! You got the phone under warranty Locked, they will standby that. If you unlocked it and they see it, that means you f**ked with it which voids the warranty and they don't owe you s**t!
TRUST ME!!!!
Look for my thread "I F'ed up!", I have a post with DETALED instructions how to put it back and what you need!! (I'll be back, I wil find it!)

You don't have to take my word for it, ask a forum admin. He**, go to another phone and ask around there! Look [email protected], the instructions for ANY Flash/Root/Unlock starts out with "This will void your warranty and I'm not responsible if you brick your phone!" Then they give you instructions.
Even if you take it in unlocked and they find out and you say screw it and walk out, then fix it yourself back to stock, your still f**ked. They will upgrade your account with note that you did it, so if something jacked later, T.E.P is off the hook!!!
Note: I know all this because I was a B.E.S. Admin for @ 7 years. My old job, I did not work in Mobile support, but I loved flashing Windows phones and they had like 40 of them laying around. Sale guys would see **** I did, to embrassed to ask because it would make them look dumb, try it, brick it, go into Store, hence, company contract and warranty is gone!!!! Got into Android with Evo and never looked back!
I'm working but just looked @ briefly, e-mail me your e-mail and I will send you file and EXACT instructions to get you out of jam. In the mean time, you need to download RSDLite to your computer and install. Also, make sure you have 100% charge on your phone (you can go lower, but that is trouble too!). Also, free up USB on BACK of computer, not front!!
Trust me, I spent 2 days without phone, I know how it feels!
I'm Home! [email protected]!
My bad a lil lost so are you saying to sbf because I already did and it didn't fix the problem what I can try is someone can do a fresh install backup with none of your info and pm a zip or files and see what my is missing

Do they check if rooted or if it has been opened an my start up is kind of messed up it start with a att boot up(long story)
I was trying to run the exploit so I could use HTC dev unlock and followed all of the instructions even pasted the commands and my phone is bricked. I have never bricked a phone and I've been hacking smart phones per directions since they came out.

but I may be on my way. I was kinda iffy on trying the exploit because I know lots of people have done it, but just the numbers for the sample size are still kinda small. I went ahead and did it anyway and followed the directions to the T. Everything was going good, then I got the access denied or something along those lines on the second command after the point of no return. I kept trying, nothing would work. So I gave up for now, but you better believe I am NOT going to be resetting my phone anytime soon, im going to keep that thing charged up and alive for now, until I am for sure its ok to reset it, but most likely not until I know this exploit goes through.
of course, being the hardcore lurker I am. I cant go ask questions in the unlock thread yet, so I have to wait until someone else has my problem(which they are), and hope I can find a fix for it.

I was EXACTLY in the same spot as you when I THOUGHT I was doing everything right, but I wasn't. You have NOT bricked your phone. In fact, you have not even passed the recovery correctly. When you send the command to restore backup.ab, the command prompt tells you to unlock your device and confirm the restore. Probably just like you I thought it was trying to unlock my device or something...no...you literally have to look at your phone (unlock it if it screen locked) and accept the prompt on the screen to restore the recovery. So, just .... look at your phone when it tells you to in this step and again later when you repeat it.

no idea what I did before but I went ahead and started over again. This time when I got the permission message I just went ahead and did I the mkdir command that was next anyways, and it said the directory was already there, so the previous step must have some have went through before when I got another error, so I took a gamble and just kept going. I am happy to report all is good and I was able to unlock it.

I bricked mine too. I guess I'll try to go in in the morning and see if they'll give me a replacement. I got to the reboot phone command and my computer froze up. Very mistakenly I rebooted again to try to run that last command that says "wait for phone" and when I rebooted it was doneeeeeee. It won't respond or do anything. I talked to jcase and he said that's exactly how he bricked dsb's phone. This reallyyyy sucks.
You know in the entire time I've been buying these things I've bricked two devices not to blame jcase he's helped this community since well for me back in the 3d days I think but we are all thsnkful. We take a risk upon doing this but ive only bricked to apease my need to flash things on this power house maybe we know what we are doing and smoked to much what ever the reason waiting for a safer method is at times good. Can't get a true timeline of chicken before the egg there, but you can see I was already two more commands into the process after I stopped the exploit on the right. The entire problem was I wasn't looking at my phone and interacting with the prompt to restore the backup. You can see later, when I did, I had complete success; thanks to jcase and company.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for Verizon that I ran Casual on unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and put a custom Rom on. Then it all when to heck!! Loaded CleanRom on it but didn't like the Storage and SD card thing so I Flashed the changeup but apparantley I missed something in there becuse it wasn't right it would put apps on the sd card memory but pictures on the internal memory. Said I was out of space for updates and so on. Couldnt get it fixed and flashed Mean Bean to it. It worked for 3 days and began boot looping and I tried factory restore and It says something about efs files E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid Argument). Sent it to repair shop in Irving Tx. they have had it 2 weeks and they say if they can't fix it by Monday, there going to ship it back to me, still broken. Can this be fixed or do I have a $600.00 paperweight

Thank you very much for the link, looks pretty complicated, I have only rooted 3 phones. 2 Motorola Droids 1 was an X2 and an LG Spectrum. This is very complicated stuff. The shop that had my phone is sending it back to me tomorrow, no charge they say the only way it can be fixed is under warranty, which I have voided by unlocking the bootloader and rooting it.

This is really not a very complicated procedure. Everything you would have to do you can look up and find out how to do it via Google. Its better than having to pay $60 to have it JTAGed. I'm not even sure if JTAGing it would be the way to go seeing as how it giant hard bricked and the steps to fix it are fairly explained in that thread. If you cant do what the thread explains find a techie family member or friend, show them the thread and ask them to do it.

The people you have been talking to apparently don't know jack diddly ****, look up MobileTechVideos. He is the communities go to guy and has been JTAGing Note 2s for quite a while. Don't believe everything you hear from these repair shops, most of them won't even know what the hell a JTAG is let alone if its available, which it is.
I have a very bad feeling about this shop, I'm pretty sure they're going to screw you pretty hard when you could've sent it off for $60 and had it JTAGed.

Romotx - You jumped into the pool when you started flashing, but then you didn't want to learn how to swim. Did you even try typing the commands in the linked thread? That's how it works you type commands carefully and when you get an error you look that error up and try it again. Got a new error, look that one up, and so on. The more you do, the more help you get here. But it sounds like you were not very careful to start with to bork your phone that bad.
It's too late for you, but for others, when something goes wrong take a step back and take a breath. Do some reading, make sure you understand where you went wrong, and what and why you are doing next to your phone. What ever you did should have been an easy fix at some earlier point in time.
But good luck in getting your phone repaired.

Yes and that link that was posted earlier tells you exactly how to fix it. You just don't want to use it. If you can't get into CWM or TWRP try it on what shows up when you boot into recovery, for Christ's sake it's even telling you to use ADB commands which is exactly what that thread tells you to do. If you had pages attention you would know that.
Instead of taking it to a "shop" that obviously doesn't know its ass from a hole in the ground you should listen to the people in the community who have been through this before.

We did help you! You now know that you don't take your phone to a "repair shop"! Lol.
But seriously, listen to dude above, or wait for droidstyle or kintwofan to pop in. They'll answer the same way they do every other time this happens. Search for "bricked note 2 xda" and add "kintwofan" or "droidstyle" to the mix (WILDCARD) and see how many hits you get. Doesn't matter if the symptoms aren't exact - TRY IT.
What bad can happen? You gonna brick your phone? Hell, it may even start working again!?

Its very odd that it was advertised recently then, hmmm I have to see what I can find out.
As for the option that someone else linked earlier, have you tried it yet? It seems like the perfect solution to your problem. Granted you can't get into recovery the screen it shows you tells you to use ADB which is exactly what the fix uses.
As for beating you over the head, what the hell do you expect? You come asking for advice and then don't take ANY of it and act like we are all fools.

I never acted like anybody was a fool. I have been lurking and reading for years on here. I respect everyone's advice here! I have a $600.00 phone that I screwed up,yes thats what you have to do with Verizon to keep your unlimited data plan that they grandfathered you into and now when you want to upgrade it's pay full price for the phone or you get 2Gb. plan, and I don't feel confident enough to fix it like you guys suggest. I have never used ADB, I have never had a brand of phone where you could unlock the bootloader, I'm not a command and scripts and whatever voodoo you guys do to these phones.kind of guy. I can build computers and I have rooted and put roms on 2 other phones. I can't afford to buy another phone and in this backwoods hick town when you talk to anybody about rooting a phone they have no idea what the heck your even talking about.
Please!! im going CRAZY trying to root my Gs3 i747!! My usb mini port got bad so i got it replaced and now it wont connect to computer! not even in download mode it doesnt even show the icon on notifications. I am a noob but a noob who can follow directions well, and I ask you all this. My situation involves a Samsung note from att the sgh-i717 ceramic white i believe is how its is classified on Samsung's site. Now I don't think the phone is completely hard bricked true i cant get into recovery or download modes adb does not see the device however a few drivers will load on my win 7 pc and a driver trys to complete a load but its is as if the system keeps connecting and disconnecting to phone. I really don't wish to send phone off to get jtaged and since you all seem to have a good working knowledge of Samsung tech maybe you could share some insight into my problem. The Qualcomm mmc driver is the driver that will not load correctly. Since some of the drivers load that indicates some form of communication so where do we go from here.
If you follow instructions well how did you get in this situation? No but I'm pretty sure you have to send it away if adb nor your PC is recognizing it. Does it say you need to format a storage?

No need to send away. Ours is one of the few phones with an unbrick tool available

You have to send away to have it jtagged. The tool is a jig not a jtag.

Did follow directions on the attached ota then my phone went into a loop before the Samsung logo so I took it to att and warranty is over and store said sorry got it back from att and realized what ever they did made it worse because now I can't even get the device to stay connected to the computer when I can get to the phone it does say that the storage device needs to be formated however before being able to do anything else I get another device disconnect and reconnect
Will it go into recovery mode?
