I just can't manage to search for it for the life of me.
Is there such a thing. I got the kies update to 4.0.3, but i hate the old Sammy dialer that comes with it.
Please note that im not actually talking about the dialer wich could be easily changed by any app. but the screen that pops up when someone is calling or when you actually make a call. Im sorry but i don't know what that is called. You know the one that is supposed to show a big pic of your friend, but the Sammy one just shows some stupid phone icon and some ugly ass gradients.
**** touchwiz!
Please forward me to the right location.

Hey there . . .
My GF and I both have vibrants.
She uses it way more than I do, so I don't know if this is just her phone or what.
Often in an SMS thread the sender name changes mid-thread
she has to be really careful when replying to threads if it does change, cause then it goes to the unintended contact.
I have seen this firsthand twice now.
For the life of me I don't have any idea what may cause this.
The contacts aren't even right next to each other in the contact list, the numbers aren't even very similar.
My vibrant has never done this.
anyone have this issue too or know why it's happening?
Thanks
mine did this a few time and i also sent the wrong text to the wrong person because of it..not sure why it happends
It happens...somtimes. Not sure why either :-/
Some dude at the office said he had this issue on his G1.
Is this an Anrdoid thing or a Samsung thing I wonder . . .
Hmmmm
I never had it happen on my G1, or my BH2 or on my Vibrant, so who the hell knows.
very odd, and very annoying for my GF
Hi all.
First off a great site here. I am new to android (well not strictly true I did have the Desire when it very first came out and I hated it sold it after a week) Any way I am now converted to Android from Iphone. So I am a complete and utter noob
I have got the the S2 and what a phone, never miss a phone call or antenna problems on this puppy.
So my problem is when I get a text msg it only reads out the number of the person and does not read the actual txt. When I get phone calls it tells me who is ringing. This is a problem for me as I want this for when I am driving. Please help.
I have not rooted my phone yet as I said I am a complete noob. Does not look as easy as jailbreak.
Thank you very much. Look forward to your response and no doubt I'll get told off for reposting but I have looked now for 3 days
This phone can do this? I would like to know how to set this up.. I would love for the phone to tell me who is calling...please tell me how to do this...I am new to the Droid as well...came from BB...

Double press/tap HOME key to bring ON Voice Talk.
Turn ON Driving Mode.
Hit the MENU button --> Settings -->Scroll down --> Voice Talk Settings --> "TICK" Show body of message.
I suppose that should solve your problem
(It sometimes takes a while to read out the message depending on your connection..so plz be a lil patient Cheers)
Not really the same thing. There should be a way in android to have it announce who is calling or just texted you without leaving in driving mode constantly. Symbian used to have this, but I don't believe Android does.

I just use Tasker for this, though some would balk at spending on an app worth 5 dollars for a phone worth a hundred times that =)
Hey guys
I'm running CM10.1 and using Swype...if that changes anything.
I love the stock messaging app and have tried others...didn't like them...one thing I really would like to see is having sending messages instant, like iPhone's, and then you see them being sent.
If any of you have ever used What'sApp before, you'll know what I'm talking about...you hit send, and it instantly shows up in the conversation...whereas messaging has a delay for me (usually when texting multiple people at once, or sending one message after another quickly). There are other little laggy quirks that piss me off...but this is one of the biggest. It's something subtle but very annoying.
Anything?
Thanks,
Elliott
I think that's nerwork related....happens with me, no biggie.

I find that kind of hard to believe...I know iPhone users on the same network as me don't have any problems...I'm pretty sure it's a software thing.
You should get an iphone then
iOS must mask it.

I know I keep saying it...but that's what I need to compare it to.
And yes they must...which I wish they did with Android...just wondering if there are any ROM's that have done this before...and if not, there should be! :good:
lol no one texts anymore

Bump...anyone else know anything about the possibility of doing this?
Hello!
I have to say I'm really impressed with the S8+. This is the first Galaxy phone I've had since I owned the S2. After the S2 I never wanted to go back to a Galaxy ever again! But the 8 caught my eye! :cyclops:
Now, the Samsung apps aren't half bad. I'd like to work with them instead of getting their Google counter part(s) but unfortunately I love to customize my apps when I can. So the messaging or texting app, ok you can throw a background on it fine. But! There is no way to change the color of the text bubbles which is really stupid.
Yes I know I can install Samsung themes .. but I'd rather not. If Touchwiz had a few more bells and whistles it'd be a contender too! It's come along way since the S2.
So if anybody knows of a way to do this I'm all ears!
Thanks for the tips/help/information in advance!
Dave

I have two dialers. I'm on stock rooted last Oreo. Here's a screenshot of one I use the most.
yours is rooted so ill need to do that on mine
also you use a non LG rom. ill need to do that also
looking to change the hideous green to white. same with the colored clown show of 7.1.
any way to install a stock nougat version on v30+? ill have to do some research.
I hate the long press menus popping up on moving apps, I hate the nonstop intrusive messages from the os nonstop. every fecking thing it needs to mention it posts to my notification window. horrible. If I have no choice ill get sn older phone that has android 7.
I have no patience for software thats intrusive and constantly pushing you to interact and also that it hides things levels deep to get to. its inneficient and annoying to click forever. nonstop pushing OS update in my face. I cant disable it.
I see galaxy s8 is nougat. unless the person upgraded. ill look into that. either change my menu settings back to SEPARATE section list (not grouped) and let me do monochromatic color. the clown colors looks immature and ridiculous.

You only need early Oreo (or even Nougat for Frankenstein) temporarily for rooting purposes. But for features, stability, you need at least last Oreo.
I have never used a custom ROM on this phone.
you need at LEAST last Oreo.
and there is the problem.
I hate the window that pops up when you move an icon. I hate the way the menu system looks, settings are grouped (you have to go a few levels deep vs nougat) I hate the dialer green color. I hate the way the system blasts notification for every little thing. I hate the clock. try for yourself..when you run a timer and it finishes and you stop it, to get out of it, you swipe up to get the hidden buttons, but the put the start at the edge, so you will press start again. there are so many bad decisions graphics and aesthetics and ux wise they got wrong
im trying to find a nougat 7.0 phone. not even 7.1 where changes were made.
my mom had a heart attack. I lost work. im stressed as feck and this os just pisses me off too much. I already broke the screen from punching it. no one will a phone cause me stress.
I dont even surf on it anymore as there are no browsers that block ads AND stay in desktop agent mode for ALL sites. opera is a chinese compnay, so no thanks. adblock keeps reverting back to mobile site mode. brave is crap. chrome is chrome. on your phone you have no control of anything. its why I dont surf anymore on the phone. I bought a cheap laptop to surf so i can use script blockers and ad blockers and not be bombarded with nonsense they shove down your throat. if you only saw what each site loads youd be shocked. its no wonder why google is being sued by the govt.
yea, will just find an old phone like the galaxy s8 and use v7.
I cant stand the way v7.1+ looks. visually it ruins my eyes. im already with massive stress. I even hate touching my phone now. ive blocked everything I can on it. not installing any apps on it. I lost my career job, my moms sick on the way to her grave and I cant stand when companies push you like a horse with blinkers on. you have no customization control even for colors?, feck you google.
I have to find a solution for a phone only for whatsapp and camera, nothing else. no apps. no gps or anything.
Sounds to me like you have enough going on in your life, and your phone is the last thing you should be worrying about. If that means getting another phone with an older OS, then so be it.
Good luck to you. With everything. I hope things turn around
