[Q] Home Button to turn on the phone. - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
How to activate the "Home button" to turn on the phone?
With my Xperia Arc, I can turn on the phone with the "Home button".
With my Xperia S, it's impossible to turn on the phone with the "Home button"
I must use the power button on top, this is much less practical...
One idea ?
Very Thanks alot

There is NO way to activate it because it is not a physical home button. The home button will be functional when the O.S is loaded. On the other hand The Xperia Arc has a physical button to trigger the power on/off switch on the circuit board.

It's much better this way. Before I had problems with my X10 turning on in my pocket because of the home button being accidentally pushed.

Is most agree. I miss my home button wake up too.
Can it realy be true that it can't be software programmed to wake up on home button. Someone create a app that can do it. Or swipe all 3 buttons from left to right could be cool feature to wake it up. Why didn't do that.

very very good idea.. swipe left to right with all boutons!

I can't recommend wiget locker high enough for using the volume buttons or camera button for waking the phone - works perfectly.

Not necessarily true. The Nexus S home buttons were capacitive just like the Xperia but CM9 had an option to wake the device on with them.
It may well be just as possible on the Xperia, just needs someone to make it work like the CyanogenMod team did with the Nexus S

Wouldn't that be an additional drain on the battery to keep those buttons active during standby? Wake by volume keys would be far more useful, and do-able.

Power button - camera button - volume buttons... meh... it's still not the same as home button
It's more natural to press home button and then unlock the phone...

I agree and that was the bottom of my subject
If is done with the Nexus S, we must be able to do for our Xperia S...

I like using volume button because I can wake the phone up by one hand. With my small hand now press the power button by one hand is not comfortable.
Double click on volume button would be good too.

Can you try using another launcher ro check if volume buttons are responding when screen is locked...

Can the S3 be turned on like the iPhone ?

Can the S3 screen be turned on easily, like the iPhone ? On the iPhone you press the bottom thumb button, to wake the phone, then slide across to wake. Does the bottom button on the S3 work the same way, to wake the device ? Or do you have to press the side power button only to unlock ?
This is a big concern for my Brother trying to switch over from his iPhone4.
You can use the home (bottom) button too.

Yeah you just press home or power key to wake it then swipe thumb across to unlock.
Yes the bottom button works the same.

Remaping buttons to create a dedicated camera button?

Any thoughts on whether it's possible to implement a dedicated camera button? It seems superfluous to have both the home button and the power button able to wake the screen, and it'd be great to have one be able to unlock to camera.
That wud be cool like assign pressing both volume up and volume down at the same time as the button

Yes, this would be great. don't let the thread die.

I think in theory that would be great, but what button would you replace?
The home and power buttons both have functionality that the other doesn't do. Both can unlock the screen (as you pointed out), but they don't both lock the screen. Also, only one of them actually performs the "home button" functions. So both are really needed.
I think matrixzone5's suggestion of a two-button action would probably be required.
Someone's already implemented on screen ICS buttons on the SGSIII, so for me ideally I'd have the power button as the camera button and the home button as the wake/lock button. Works for me because my case makes the power button hard to press.

Taking photos of lockscreen

Hi heres a stupid question-->
How do i take screenshot of widget locker active?
Palm Swipe doesn't work and i am not very familier with apps with such ability.
Press and hold POWER and the HOME button together.

[Q] Looking for SGS4 App with button mapping functions

Issue: I have a galaxy S4 that has a bad LCD. The LCD itself functions. However when the phone is locked and the screen is off, when I click the power button, the screen doesn't come back on. But if I click the power button again to lock it and click the power button again to unlock it, the screen will come back on after the second time.
So what I'm looking for is an app or mod that will allow me to map either the power button or even double clicking menu button to have the action of clicking the power button 3 times. Any advice? Thanks!

Remap power button?

I haven't been able to figure out a way to remap the physical power button. There was an xposed module that worked great long ago, but hasn't been updated to work with oreo. I want to be able to press/long press/double tap/whatever the power key to take me to the home screen. I've used the fingerprint sensor apps, but they're hit or miss at different times, which is more frustrating than not having it. The other button mapper programs seem to work for volume keys only. Rooted/Running LOS ROM
Remapping the power button seems like such a bad idea to me. What happens if you need to reboot?

Why? What does your "home" button do? On my Nova launcher, home button takes me immediately to home screen and much easier/faster than trying to double tap fingerprint sensor, which currently turns off/on display.
Or long tapping, which currently gives you reboot options.
Remapping power button seems like an answer in search of a problem, which would cause more problems?

Home button takes me to home screen as well, which is usually where I want to go. If I'm holding the phone it's much easier to press a physical button to get back. I rarely reboot, so could do away with that. On my G3, I had all the buttons on the back mapped to pull up assistant, go back, go to home screen using single/double/short/long taps. It was MUCH faster to do that. Anyway, I like it, it existed before, I want to know if I can get it back.

So found a program called "powy". It can intercept the power button keypress and then trigger tasker. It can't distinguish long v. short press, but you can program power button to trigger by pressing 1x/2x/3x/etc. Not as good as xposed additions (which hasn't been updated since MM), but functional and better than nothing.
