hey all.... I have a dilly of a pickle on my hands here.... I am still pretty new to the ROM scene, so bear with me. I am currently running Energy v3.10.2012 on my Amaze 4G and I have no sound coming from the speaker. No ringtones, notifications, or music... Everything works fine through headphones.
here's a rundown of the history of my phone:
>> unlocked using HTC method
>> first custom ROM was QuikSense, which I replaced with Energy 2.27 a few days later because tethering didn't work
>> ran Energy 2.27 for about a month, tethering worked, but I had no audio from the speaker, also wifi and Bluetooth didn't work, but these were non-issues
>> installed stock T-Mobile kernel immediately after Energy 2.27, still no wifi, BT, or sound
>> re-flashed stock T-Mo kernel after the first flash, I read I needed to do this... still no change.
>> installed Energy 3.10 an hour ago, wifi works, haven't checked BT, but still no sound
>> I always do a wipe/factory reset before flashing the ROM
I think I read that the stock T-Mo kernel is installed as part of the ROM install via CWM recovery. I also flashed the boot.img extracted from the ROM zip using Flash Image GUI. No change. If I reboot the phone I can get audio for a split second if I try to change the ringtone or whatever, and then never again. Any ideas? This is becoming quite a nuisance!

Start from scratch. Titanium Backup your apps and data. Use the superwipe.zip to completely wipe your phone. Flash ROM from recovery. Reboot phone. Once it boots, make sure adb debugging is on. Use the boot.img from the ROM zip and flash it with the stock kernel flasher. Your phone will reboot again and everything should work. PM me if u don't understand any of that

I will show you how to flash DarkyROM 10.2.2 on your t-mobile vibrant, after the following steps, you will have superb battery life, and everything is working except GPS.
Update Nov 12/2011: new steps, easier then before!
I had previously installed CM7 on my t959, however I am not happy with it because:
1: GPS not working
2: Battery life is so bad... won't last a day.
Follow these steps to flash DarkyROM 10.2.2 on your T959.
(by no means this is a guide and I am not responsible if you brick your phone or cause any damage to your phone)
1: following this link to install DarkyROM 10.2 RE
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
2: install I9000 vibranted vG.3.0b kernel using CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299185
3: Install KB5 modem via CWM. see attachemnt.
4: Install DarkyROM App from the market
5: Download DarkyROM 10.2.2 zip file, put it in the root of internal sd card.
6: in DarkyROM App, deselect kernel and modem (so it won't overwrite your T959 kernel and modem with i9000 ones), then select install zip from sd card in darkyROM app, if asked give root permission to darkyROM app.
7: After phone rebooted, flash the key update zip mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299185
Done.
BTW, GPS not working, otherwise everything works.
Notes:
darkyROM 's modem is not compatible with TMobile or Mobilicity's AWS band, so you need a tmobile modem. here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868774
you cannot directly flash the modems using odin (always stuck in my case). So use this tool to convert cwm mode from amend to edify:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903598
I used KB5 modem, then flashed the converted modem via cwm...
You need to install a i9000 based vibrant (T959) kernel, otherwise you will have not audio.
Please report back whether it worked for your or not.
thanks
BTW, the following attachments are converted edifying scripting modem file (KB5)
(I flashed KB5 unsigned below via CWM)
I haven't tested other modems, I picked up KB5 just because it is new.
No issues now

ok, on Darkyrom 10.2.2 a few days now, superb battery life! I was able to use the phone for 1d 12 hours without charging. Compare to CM7, the very same battery won't last a day/
solid battery life... my battery life is just terrible, im on cm7 as well, if someone could get the sound working on this i would rock this rom... i just have to have audio... i listen to alot of music at work
I've re-read this post twice and still don't know what the hell they're talking about.
They're talking about selling crack rocks in a darky room with sound proof walls that runs on batteries
Use a diffrent kernel an uv an turn off data when not in use

I had that problem too. It turned out that after I flashed darkyROM 10.2.2, I following the instruction below to fix keymap problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252908
So I revert the change and rebooted my phone, home key worked.
So, make sure you did NOT do any keymapping change except the volume up/down fix mentioned in post #1.
Please let me know
DarkyROM 10.2.2, with T-mobile Vibrant & KB5 modem, confirmed working, nice work
I installed DarkyROM 10.2.2 resurrection package JVT-Base-I9000.tar today.
Followed your guide converting the KB5 modem zip to edify format.
With the kernel from DarkyROM ([email protected] #DarkCore_4.1.JVT) I had no internal speaker on phone calls (but speaker phone worked).
Changed kernel to Talon-SH-T5s_VIBRANT.zip and now I have internal speaker on phone calls.
Nice work.
Thanks man.
Glad I helped!
How is your battery? last longer?

I bought a Rezound on ebay, pre-rooted/unlocked with the leaked ICS / Sense 3.6 ROM (besides that, pretty much bone-stock)
I decided I wanted to try out a different ROM and make sure I am familiar with the process before I try to do the S-OFF process....
Well, I found that the first thing I needed to do to upgrade to (insert ICS/Sense 4 Rom here) was to upgrade to the newest Firmware (3.11.605.22), and I am currently on 3.11.605.01 ... I followed their instructions closely to update the firmware ( re-lock , load new FW as PH98IMG.zip , flash it , unlock, etc)
Well, that didn't work for me, when I got to loading up hboot and it automatically updating the FW, it didn't do what the instructions said it would, it showed a dark blue bar near the top/right, waited for that to complete, then same thing but yellow, that completed and asked to reboot, but would only reboot to fastboot...
eventually I unlocked it again and it allowed me to return to my ROM (normal ICS/sense 3.6)
Sorry about this short story... lol ^
Basically I cannot for the life of me install any rom with success... I can't even restore the nandroid I made last night (before any of this) with success..
the CLOSEST thing to success I got was installing newts One XxX sense 4 rom, it booted, and will sit on the lock screen just fine, but when I try to unlock and go to settings to turn off animations (like instructed) it will freeze and reboot....
DO I need to install the newest FW???
OR what do I need to dooo?
Pls help! I am fairly familiar with android, as I had a D Inc before this, evervolv ICS etc etc....
Thanks alot anyone !

If you want to go back to a GB rom you need to reflash the boot image that came with it. If you want a sense 4.0 to work you need to flash the old firmware patch. For the patch I have attached it. Flash it via recovery and your rebooting on a sense 4.0 rom/ new firmware rom should be gone. (don't forget to follow the OP for Newts rom about disabling animations btw) for the boot images look to the op of the rom you are running.

Ok thanks for the reply, I did install the "old firmware patch" included with Newts XxX Sense 4 ROM, and I can successfully get the ROM to boot, it doesn't operate very well, and only for a few minutes because it will freeze and reboot. It doesn't allow me to get to the settings, no matter how fast I try to get there, it ALWAYS freezes before I can access the setting :/ ...

Hmm.. wow I'm lost. I had the same issues before I installed the patch, but after I didn't and it went fine. I'm going to have to think about this one for awhile.

Okay after flashing the ^above^ patch, the rom seems to work now, it didn't freeze so I was able to turn off animations and now it works might fine
Do you know by chance any good kernels for an ICS/Sense 4 ROM?
the stock one was draining faster than it was charging (while plugged in lol)
So I tried out the 1.836 OC kernel and it seems to be working fine, but I am interested more in battery life than performance right now, coming from the DInc, this phone is buttery smooth and doesn't REALLY need OC just yet (for me anyway)
Thanks for the help by the way!
I want to give my wife's rezound more options that she is looking for out of her phone. Mainly wifi hot spotting. I installed RLS 4.0 two days ago and everything worked great except for her wifi would not turn on. Though maybe it was the kernel I used. So last night flashed the RLS 5.0 and the recomended "S-on" stock boot.img afterwards. Still the same thing. Everything seems to work great except for her wifi trys to work but will not. I've toggled the settings, turn on and off airplane mode many times etc etc. still nothing will get her wifi to run. I clean system, dalvic, cache etc each time as well. Is there something I am missing? I seen in the developers forum that a few others are having the same issue but not many. Any way to get this to work? Or is there another ROM to try? She really likes the latest sense in this ROM.
Try flashing the kernel using adb from your computer. Either that or flash a different kernel like dsb's kernel then flash the one xxx kernel over it

Hi!
The other day I installed Beats Audio on my rooted Evo 3D GSM. The installation went fine until it said "Reboot failed. Please reboot manually." So I did and when the phone was booted there was no sound. I mean no sound at all. No ringtone sounded, no alarms, even the sound in calls is gone. Only silence. I tried uninstalling Beats Audio but that didn't work. It's still completely silent.
Anyone else having this problem? Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction in how to solve this?
Best regards
It would help if you gave us some more information. What rom are you on, how did you install beats, have you treid re-flashing the rom, have you tried just flashing a rom that already has beats...
This has happened to me before but only when I was on odexed ROM( stock ROM)
So my suggestion is to be on 4ext recovery, flash a deodexed ROM. Wipe cache and dalvik, make sure you download the appropriate beats zip.
Its just like sitlet said, most of the ROMs already come with beats, xcloud, and Sony bravia tweaks. Which led me to believe your using a stock ROM. You can solve all your issues by just flashing a deodexed ROM with all the tweaks I mentioned.
Hello, I have rooted with Ruby-faux123-kernel and Speed Rom 8.0, and my in-call sound is absolutely terrible. I can't make out what people are saying half the time. I tried re-flashing but problem persists. I feel like maybe this is a problem with the radio, can I update just that? Anyone have any advice, I can't find many similar problems on Google. The terrible sound persists even through the speaker, I don't have a blutooth to test with.

GO fresh... first flash a stock ROM via HBOOT menu
(1) download the factory stock ROM from above mentioned link, name it PH85IMG and put it on your externel sd card, power off device, pull out your battery, reinsert it,press volume down and power button until it boots into HBOOT menu...HBOOT should automatically start flashing your stock ROM,follow onscreen instructions.
after flashing stock....next flash 4ext recovery using hasoon toolkit from here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493905
(2) download a fresh copy of speed rom 8.0,put it on your externel sd card...boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache+davlik, format all partitions except sd card, format your internel sd card then choose zip from sd card...after flashing reboot your device.
good luck with that...
and don't forget to hit the thanks button..
Hi Hatim, thanks for your help - I will try that tonight. So flashing the stock ruu first replaces the need to flash a newer Kernel? I was looking for the nearest to jelly-bean that I can get (though that may be my problem).

all the ROMS like speed rom, energy or viper amaze are not stock...they are custom ROMS,to resolve your problem you should flash a stock ROM first, stock ROM is the software that came with your phone straight out the box,untouched/unmodded/etc
after flashing stock all issues would be resolved, then after flashing 4ext recovery, now you are ready to flash a custom ROM like speed rom (which appers to me is the nearest to jelly bean working ROM)...and has a great battery life too...
[note] i posted earlier a link to download your desired stock RUU (ROM)
dont you know where the thanks button is...its just under my post on the left side.. hit it...
