[Q] Xperia S and Flac files - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I need someone to check this out for me, it's not a deal-breaker but I'm only curious. Can the Xperia S play loseless Flac files?
Thanks

Not natively. I also have issues with wma lossless which play fine on an sgs2 natively. Seems its included in ICS so maybe we will see some love when Sony roll that out in 2014.

[Q] Flac playback on Flayer

Flayers stock music player didn't recognize flac files, and I decided to go for MortPlayer I am using on my Galaxy S. Unfortunately, while Mort did play other music files, it didn't play same flac files it does on Galaxy S. I am even suspecting some system problem with flac playback, but don't have any evidence to support this claim.
As I really love MortPlayer for three major things: flac playback, folder playback and it's free, can anybody recommend working flac player for HTC Flayer, with folder playback if possible?
I found app, name is Player . It is not as polished as Mortplayer, but it does play flac files, and can play everything from specified folder. If somebody a have better suggestion, please share.
PowerAMP hands down is the best music player
AndLess
I use AndLess, simple, and works great! I haven't really tried others so no comments on those.
PowerAmp has some unusuall high cpu usage spikes, it's a bit to shiny for me, and isn't free.
AndLess worked great on my Galaxy S, I like its simple and effective interface. Will try it on Flayer, thx for the tip

[Q] Audio Codec?

I have a question...
I have a couple of videos, that I would like to strip the audio from, and was planning to use FLAC, and/or similar lossless codec; but before I do this, what codecs can Andriod decrypt? According to Android Central, it can decode FLAC, but only in Android 4.0 and higher, and I'm currently on Android 2.3.4 on a HTC Amaze 4G...
Is there any software I could get, in order for it to decode/decrypt FLAC correctly?
PS
I don't mind using any other lossless audio codec, as long as Android 2.3.4 supports it...
I am currently on ICS Passion 10.6 which is based on ICS 4.0.3 on my Samsung Vibrant and Flac will not play properly.
The files either refuse to play or play very slowly.
I came from Team Whiskey's excellent NextGen V2 and I could play Flac files with several players with no problems.
Not worth switching back because of this though.
I think you should use native flac library for that, actually ffmpeg is much better because it supports so many formats. There's a lot of tutorials on the internet how to get it working on android. Just google.
Its not about android, but its codecs.
My tablet (2.3.4) plays FLAC, DDS, AC3 etc. out of the box.
If your phone doesn't try FFMpeg (To put it simply: its like a codec pack for windows)
F.e. http://odroid.foros-phpbb.com/t338-ffmpeg-compiled-with-android-ndk
I finally found an ICS that plays .flac files on the Vibrant properly.
CM9 since the 3-30 nightly has worked great in all players that had worked for me in the past.
I am on 4-15 and all is still good.

Xperia S plays (DivX/XviD/WMV/MP4)???

Does Xperia S plays DivX/XviD/WMV/MP4 without installing external player from Google Play
I didn't try, but who what's the problem with installing external player ? MX Player is a beast .. it's the VLC for android !
It just plays everything .. !
It does play my divx avi's and mp4 files with the stock player. Don't know about WMV.
If you need an external player I recommend diceplayer which plays everything I have tried.
I really need this info, Because if the stock player plays all these files then there would be no issue in connecting the XPeria S through DLNA
Xperia s supports only h264 mp4 format under hardware acceleration natively.
Wmv,mkv, divx all require external program, and playing any content with 720p and above via software encoding causing lags and audio sync issues. Hope Sony can fix this..I have tried mxplayer, rockplayer etc. with all those problem still persist. I don't have any problem like this with my optimus 3d (wvga) probably Xperia s have hd screen ?
I just made a test and plugged USB stick to my phone
with .avi movie inside, and played it perfectly fine from the XPlore, apparently it was native video player which played it.
I also have a Dice Player which is said to support most formats and play them with hardware support.
The Xperia S also does XviD in .avi containers just fine with the native player. I was quite surprised personally.
BSPlayer is godlike, i think its even better than mx player, thanks if you think so

Yes I can confirm this, my xvid had 5.1 surround sound though, which the Xperia S understandably couldn't play.

[Q] Audio support

Very interested in this phone for my next upgrade. However, using it as a music player will be important to me and most of my music is encoded in AAC format. The official Sony site doesn't list this as being supported by the Xperia S, whereas GSMArena claims that it is.
Does the Xperia S play AAC music files without a problem?
Even if it's not supported by the stock player, you can always use any ffmpeg powered one.

I thought as much - thanks for the confirmation. I'd still be curious to know if the stock player does it, though.
I have some AAC music in the m4a format in my phone and the stock music player is compatible with them. It plays and shows the tags/album art without problems.

Hello to everybody! I have an Xperia U and I try to reproduce podcast in m4a format with chapters ( Release yourself by roger sanchez) but all the app I've tried played only audio part, without chapters support.
Anyone can give me a suggestion?
thanks in advice

Deadbeef I think. Try the free version before buying.
Thank you I've just tried but it work only in audio reproduction
After so many apps finally I found one that reproduce mp4 with chapter: RockPlayer Lite.
The only disadvantage is that it cannot work in background!

You won't be able to play FLAC on GB even if you install ICS player, FLAC libs are included only in Android 4.0 and higher. Buy PowerAMP, it's able to play even more music formats than stock ICS player.
