Best custom roms till now for Neo V - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi Everyone,
I have rooted my neo v using DoomLord's Easy rooting toolkit
and install and backup using CWM Recovery 5.0.2.6 from here
Can any one suggest good custom roms available for my Neo V with all working features (Wifi, Fm Radio, etc).
Preferrably ICS or else old Gingerbeard

You need an unlocked bootloader for majority of the ROMS
I suggest you use SE NEO TWEAKED

Hey Sorry Sweetlover but:
If you don't understand how to use search-button and if you are incapable to find a solution in this forum and if you don't understand the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754429, you are probably incapable to root your device.

OK. I'm also a noob, but I rooted my xperia s (with locked Bootloader) last week with this solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754429
If you read through the first post completly you will find the following phrase:
"Guide:
Before you root your device, your device must running Gingerbread. Flash it back to Gingerbread if your device are running Ice Cream Sandwich Open Run.dat and it will lead you through the process"
If you are on ICS you have to flash black to Gingerbread with Flashtool. Here the link to the Flashtool thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588586
And here the link to the xperia s firmware thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
There is no simple root-method at the moment, perhaps later, I don't know. Keep in mind: This is a new device and the development of a dedicated root-method keeps a lot of time. Please take a look at other threads and read through. Collect as much information as possible.

I had done that. When using the flashtool I had kept that option checked but when I did successfully (no errors messages in flashtool) flashed and downgraded to GB from ICS, I was not able to download any apps from play store. I was also unable to login into google chat. I was able to use my gmail app without any issues though. Is this normal?
I did xda and google search on this issue about not being able to login to google chat etc, almost 90% of them said that you have to remove your primary google account which is not possible to do unless you root or do a factory reset.

NO, you will have to downgrade to root, or you unlock the bootloader and flash a prerooted kernel, but bootloader unlocking is only for rom testers or people who like to experience custom roms, so think of it, because it voids warranty. For a how to look in my signature

at least as of this point in time, this is the only way to root ICS on ST15i and yes, you do have to downgrade to GB in order to accomplish this. no other known method unless you wanna unlock bootloader and try out a custom ROM
with regard to the other method you found of changing kernels, you cannot do that unless you have an unlocked bootloader as you cannot flash kernel with a locked bootloader...

[Q] Neo (MT15i) Rooting

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and to rooting. I currently have a SE Neo (MT15i) with ICS 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431 or something close). I have unlocked my bootloader, i have installed fastboot, flashmode whatever. I want to root my phone, which program should I use and how do I do it? I have no idea what kernel is, what roms are etc...? Can you please tell me what they are? Thanks!
Update: I went on several threads such as the guide in the Neo V Dev, it was old, I'm not sure if it would work on my version right now.
I also went on Doomlord's kit which was about rooting a .562.
EDIT: After so much researching, I found out that my device is just NEO not NEO V
How to root - sticky thread in general section
Kernel, rom and all other basic things are explained in various sticky threads in neo sections as well as in arc sections. Also you can google it a bit. After you read that and you still got questions, ask.
Take some free time to read all that.
Maybe you won't get fast answer but you will benefit on a long run

Hi Mate,
you can root .431 by below method:
Rooting ..431
1. Flash .431 firmware , ignore if you are already having.
2. copy rootxperia.zip and Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip to sd card
3. Fastboot recoveryneo.img
4. Flash the above 2 files
4. flash .431 kernel
search for the zip,img and kernel in this forum , you will get it.
i hope u know how to fast boot, else search in this forum.
thanks.

As I said, since you are new, you should read some tutorials and threads.
You can ether hotboot that kernel using fastboot.exe or you can even use flashtool to flash/hotboot kernels, just pick fastboot mode.

Tehnically it's same, both are superuser app, which you can update, once you boot up your phone, from the google play.
You can use the one which you can find in that same thread.

OMG, is it really that hard to use brain and search field?
Look at the first post in this forum
sometimes, noobs don't know what to search..
here's something for you..
there's still no good/stable JB rom, but there are several ICS ROMs that is good.. just go check some thread there with [ROM] tagged. learn to read.
instructions are included. just read, search on google or XDA for if you have questions or problems, or ask a friend of yours in who know.. so, make as much as you can in this forum.
Modifying your Ray will Void your warranty., if your Phone was bricked or dead, there are always a solution for that. the more you visit in this forum, the more things you will learn.
first, you need to ROot your phone. (use Doomlord's method, search for it)
and also, to change kernel, you need to Unlock Bootloader,.
Whether "noobs" know what to search they should be capable of reading, if they did they would see there is a Q & A topic.

How to unlock bootloader and how to install pacman rom for a noob?

Sent from my ST18i using xda premium
Seriously??? Dude just google it or see the stickies in the forum!!!
Google bootloader unlock official and go to Sony site than google root xperia and root your phone than google how to flash kernel flash jb kernel xperia than look at instructions in Pac thread
Optimaxed Ray @ xda
It's on my grandmother phone and its a cheap way to get Google now as her eyesight is grave
Sent from my ST18i using xda premium
Sony site has an excellent guide. I was/am noob and it was easy to follow.
I found sony's guide quite confusing as they don't guide about the Android SDK.
This is much easier http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Ray:_Full_Update_Guide
Thanks to Cyanogenmod again
here is the link..unlock bootloader
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
pac rom..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803076
but some people prefer unlock bootloader using testpoint method
http://www.jictechnology.co.uk/multiunlocker_guide/index.htm#page=Xperia_Test_Point_Unlock.htm
It is unbelievable how can you be too lazy to look for these info in RAY thread.
all information ( also for noob ) u can find in RAY thread, you just have to read
For google now you don't have to unlock the bootloader and you probably don't want to give your grandma a phone that isn't working perfectly, so you probably want to stay with ICS and most preferably a stock based ROM....try this for google now:
