I Rooted and installed android version of Albert Wertz. Everything went fine until i installed the chainfire 3d pro inorder to unroot and factory reset the NT. It flashes the n symbol 8 times and goes to recovery mode.
So what i did yesterday was to wipe data, advanced dalvik cache and formated the system only and then used sd card to install NT16GBV46.IMG( Albert ). Now it just takes me to the white screen with "N READ FOREVER" and it doesnt do anything after that. It also lets me go to CWM recovery mode. It not doing the 8 times flashy thing before it goes to recovery mode due to chainfire 3d pro apk file. Does any one has any ideas what do i have to do next for NT to work normally.
* * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * *
I even tried "[UnBrick]TOTAL WIPE and reflash back to 1.4.0 via Ubuntu Recovery"
for some the screen stayed dark for a while and stuck on the same "n" screen with white background with read "forever sign" barnes and nobles. I dont know what i am doing wrong.
Is there anyone who can help me with that?
Happened to me too.. I think I forced it to get failed reboots 8 times..when the nook is powered off press and hold power button + n button.. it will start up and power down in around 5 seconds.. do this 8 times.. on the 9th time let it power up.. it will flash to stock...
When u r restarting 8 times does your NT shows brown box along with the reboot.
No if that happens it means its booting into recovery.. if you can access that then you can install cm7 by downloading the zip file.
What i did was press and hold power + 'n' button and keep it pressed till it powered off.. then repeat it 7 more times and then power up normally. I am aware there is a method of resetting to factory w/o 8 failed reboots but even that method didn't stop bootloop for me
Oh also try combination of power+vol up+n button. Check this thread, this is what worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367496
I tried installing cm from NT16GBV46.IMG( Albert ). I used volume buttons for reboot 8 times. When I power on NT 9 time it takes me to recover mode then when I reboot it takes me to same n screen. Is there another way??!
Cleared all delvik, data and formatted system and used Team -b version of cynogenmod 7 . Rebooted the nook tablet and it finally did. Thanks everyone.

Hey guys, I have a Star A2000 with Froyo rooted. While I was trying to modify my original status bar, the phone blocked and I had to reboot it. I rebooted it but for over one hour it's loading whithout booting into the homescreen. I tryed with the factory reset but nothing. I can't load any rom from Linux, and so I can't fully on the device. Any suggestion? I want to bring back everything! Anybody knows how I can do so? Without the flashing cable is it possible to restore or put back the original system and settings?
recovery menu
Turn off the phone
press vol up and power button in the same time
that will bring you to the recovery menu - press home key to see options
navigate trough options with vol up and down and meniu
take care - reset to factory my wipe your imei off. if you are lucky this might not happen

I've tried this way all the time but it seems to don't work
Is there not an update.zip in other to install the original rom? Because I'm not with the flashing cable so I can't use it to flash. Is there any other way I can do it?
If you cant access the recovery by using power button + volume up key at the same time when turning on the phone then the recovery partition is not working (should show up with android ! screen or custom recovery) - If you cant boot in to the recovery menu or the system partition containing the OS you have likely bricked your phone, the only chance you may have in my opinion is a factory reset - which you say has failed or connect usb while phone is booting and hope you can get an ADB connection (which is possible due to a bug but only seems to work intermittantly - I have managed to fix a brick via this stroke of luck before)
Having a backup as well as a working recovery or system partition is the key to playing with your phone - one partition should always be working to restore the other when or if it fails.

HI !
I´m on the same situation.
After install de CW recovery, made 3 nandroid backups of different states of my phone and tryed to flash 3 different ROM MODs (including the ICS 4, hahaha) i bricked my A2000-GPS.
I´m able to enter CW recovery menu using PWR+VOL.UP and navigate as well. I wiped all data, cache partition and try to restore all my backups one by one... Nothing brings back my OS... I still stucked into boot screen (the first one, i´m not entering in the boot_logo image...
After many tryes, i wiped all data again and made a factory reset using CW recory: Nothing...
I notice that i´m loose the factory recovery mode (PWR + VOL.Down)... And i also never made an IMEI backup. Could be that?
I apreciate any help. Any light in the end of tunel, hahaha
Kind regards!

/system
Into "Mounts ans Storage" menu.
After I recovery one of my nandroid backups. Normal rebooting and.........................
NOTHING ! I´m still stucked into first boot img.
It´s normal this screen delays like 15 ~ 20min. to disapear?
Hi.
related with CWM I also have a weird issue.
My wife's old A2000 is now in my hands to play with it. The phone was virgin (stock rom no rooted).
I rooted the phone and installed cwm/rom manager.
The weird issue is:
1) If I click in Rom Manager option " Reboot into CWM" the phone reboot in CWM with all options working including rom backup.
2) starting with th phone off I press the keys power + vol.up Iget not the CWM but the "fatory Mode" green menu with 6 options (Full test, Test Report, Clear flash, version and Reboot).
3) pressing power + vol.down it simply boot normay the system.
What can be wrong with this "ex-virgin" A2000?
So I think I officially bricked my nook tablet.
Rooted the nt, installed swype keyboard. Forgot to switch to regular android keyboard before I performed a soft reset. After soft reset no keyboard pops up in the tutorial setup screen. Performed a factory reset by holding the power button + volume up button + home button. Got the screen prompting if you want to hit home or power to format/not format. Clicked the home button.
No keyboard pops up still.
Thus you can't bypass the setup screen.
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking a visit to a barnes and noble store where you can login to the store wifi may bypass the wifi screen but you won't be able to type in your email for your account.
I get the sorry, swype has stopped unexpectedly error message even after I performed a factory reset.
if you are going to the store, you might as well ask them to reformat/re-install. They should have a microSD card with a signed image for the NT. While you are at it, maybe you can get them to expand the USERS partition and give you more than 1GB?
Force 8 bad boots *start it, wait for white splash screen with N on it then hold n button + power* for 8 times then it will automatically wipe itself.
Is that different than a factory reset?

I actually did the 8 or 10 (can't remember ) bad boots method without holding n and it still factory reset (cleared android market and root).
Edit:
Also, I got no format/don't format screen prompt. It just automatically started to wipe itself.
It's very different. It wipes the system (where you removed the keyboard from) and then it reinstalls the operating system.
Would it also reformat a memory card if you have one installed?
got my nook working again, thanks!

B&N stores don't have that capability.

Hi there
My prime is stuck in boot, it will show the boot screen looping forever.
I have tried the following things:
- Resetting (button next to microSD)
- Holding volume up and power button to switch it off and back on
- Holding the power button for 15 - 30 - 60 secs
- Holding volume down + power button to get in the recovery menu
- Selected up for recovery mode, shows the android laying on its back, stops loading and reboots
- Selected down both for cold start and resetting user data.
This all failed. Anyone got an option or a solution?
Greets
Last solution to try before sending it back or returning is to try to drain the battery. Let it keep bootlooping or keep power off then on. Some had same issue n let battery drain. Then recharge it and it might fix itself like that. If that doesn't work, check out Asus website for prime trouble shooting or just exchange tablet. That recovery mode should work though. You go into recovery n clear all caches n data n whatever then factory reset through recovery.
Ok, thank you.
I will try that. Is there any option to re- install the tablet, if you connect it to your computer?
I've read about putting a firmware update on your microSD and then booting or something like that.
Yes, what u need to do is go to the Asus website n download the latest firmware to the root of microsd card. Make sure its the one that matches your prime n country. Also make sure its downloaded to root of memory card. Then put memory card in prime. Then go into recovery and make sure to wipe all data. Caches, dalvaik data. Then choose the option in recovery to flash the firmware. Make sure its pointed towards that file you installed in root of microsd card. It should then flash the revcovery. Make sure to read exact steps on Asus website for prime recovery flash to be sure. It should work after that.
Or you could hook your prime up to your computer. Make sure android adb n drivers installed to it. Then you can manually install the firmware again from Asus website into prime.
Good luck!
Thanks again!!! I will try this before draining. I will post if it worked.
That didn't work either

Fixed it thanks to this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22857274&postcount=21
You need to rename the zip in the zip to the correct name (ep201_...update... -- see post)
Was attempting a change when I pressed "n" while powering up. Now stuck in a fast boot loop where it gets to N screen then cycles again and again. Help!
nook version (8 or 16)
firmware (rom used before bootloop)
if you have it already rooted, and have installed CWM then re install the rom you were using
if you were using stock, their are instructions on how to fully wipe your device to stock (requires firmware download to SD-->reboot)
Already rooted, 16GB, had cm7 installed and has CWM, but, how do I get CWM up and running when it just keeps continuously cycling thru bootup? Tried holding down "n" and didn't work
Have you tried putting recovery on an SD card and see if it boot to that?
Enter CWM
hold n + Power together until force shut down
after power down,
hold power and QUICKLY hold the n again... (5 secs later, let go of the power but keep on holding the n until the CWM comes up)
format all the stuff, cache dalvic etc. and then reinstall the rom
No go. Pressing power and N together, counting to 5, releasing power, holding n - the "n" logo appears briefly, then the screen goes blank.
Do I have the sequence right?
SORRY
instructions modified
hold n + Power together until force shut down
after power down,
hold power and hold the n again at the same time... (5 secs later, let go of the power but keep on holding the n until the CWM comes up)
format all the stuff, cache dalvic etc. and then reinstall the rom
What assumption i made--> i am ASSUMING that CWM is installe ON the nook itself and not off some SD
Nope. Tried with and without sd card in (pretty sure I have CWM both internal and on card). All it seems capable of doing is powering on just long enough for "n"logo to come up for 2-3 seconds, then shuts down no matter what I try
Interesting
Reading through the post my question is:
What "change" were you doing?
This can shed light on what the problem might really be caused from
If you have CWM on a bootable SD card, power off the NT. Remove SD card, reinsert SD card. DO NOT POWER ON WITH POWER BUTTON. Plug in wall charger and let NT turn on by itself
Sent from my NT running CM10
All it does when I plug it in (following your instructions) is continue to cycle through the n logo process over and over again
i dont think your entering CWM correctly in my instructions, because that will ALWAYS work since it is seperate from the main Nook boot
What I'm doing:
(with card IN)
Holding [power and N down (same time), waiting 5 seconds, releasing power - CWM does not come up (screen goes dark)
(without card)
Same as above
What I was doing prior to this issue was - after installing Goo manager and downloading blaze.img file for TWRP),it says it installed correctly but didn't reboot to TWRP screen like supposed to. Followed instructions to boot it up by pressing power and N simultaneously, that's when bootloop started
im out of ideas...maybe try the unbrick method for complete reformat...
OK thanks - anyone else?
Are you sure your SD card is formatted as bootable?
Sent from my NT running CM10
I shouldn't assume anything anymore although that is how I got to CWM way back when needed. Lets assume it is not. I have me most recent backup on that card. Can I refresh CWM on that same card, keep my backup, and use it to boot up? If so, how?
My card has an clockworkmod folder which contains th backup I did a few days ago. It also has folders for all the apps I've installed. The version is pre 6.0 and I've read you need a later version to work with CM10, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
What should I do to get it to boot up into CWM? If I can get that working I assume I can reinstate from my backup to cm7 (where I was previously)
Make a bootable SD card with a different SD card using http://raywaldo.com/2012/05/root-nook-tablet-with-cwm-sdcard/ as a guide. Just use a newer CWM

If your NT is like mine, it will only boot off an SDcard from a power-off state and upon insertion of a powered USB cable.
[This of course assumes that your card has a bootable FAT32 partition (LBA and Active flags set) which contains the requisite files (u-boot.bin, MLO, boot.img and/or flashing_boot.img)].
Hopefully someone can help me, my child has a Pendo Pad 7 Model no.PNDPP44QC7 with Kitkat 4.4 and it ended up with lots of malware/viruses and barely usable. This tablet only has a power button and no other buttons so I did not know how to boot into recovery mode to do factory reset and after trying reset through settings which made no difference so I gave the device ROOT access so I could try and delete the malware etc but of course i did not do any sort of backup and did not add CWM or TWRP recovery. I ended up deleting something wrong and now the device just hangs on the Pendo logo screen. I have since worked out how to boot into Recovery Mode and also Fastboot mode now but a bit too late I tried to do a wipe data/factory reset and this made no difference still hangs on Pendo logo.
I can't seem to find a CWM or TWRP image file to suit the tablet and possibly try putting tablet into fastboot mode and using ADB on computer and flash the recovery to tablet. ???
in recovery mode options i get are
apply update from ADB
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
but i can not seem to find any correct files to work with this tablet any help to get this tablet working again would be much appreciated Thanks
Good day! how did you manage to boot into Recovery Mode or Fast Mode?
After pressing the power button and seeing the display turn on. Keep spamming the power button and a menu will pop-up on screen with boot options. Short press of the power button cycles through the options, long press selects the option.
Mine was also stuck on a boot loop, even though I had not played around with any settings or tried to root etc. I was able to revive it by going into recovery mode and doing a factory reset.
Hey OP I've got hold of the same tablet I'm working on getting a rom dump atm. Bare with me I'll try and send a link for the img. If u can get into recovery mode where u can update zip. That's good if not try and via pc. Once u have a link to the tablets boatloader, rest is history.
Hi,
Wondering if I can follow up on this.
Mine is stuck on the PENDO boot screen, and I have tried the reset button, as well as the se commands PENDO suggested....
1. Press On/Off Switch (Power), wait for the Pendo Logo start up screen, and then press On/Off Switch (Power) twice right away.
2. Factory mode menu comes out after 10 seconds, two fingers touches panel together to move to select the one like the following picture shows (no need to understand the Chinese words, just follow through as what the picture shows)
3. Press On/Off Switch (Power) and the following picture below will show, press On/Off Switch (Power) again to proceed on Recovery Mode, and wait for system to restart.
Unfortunately, nothing still happens.
ADB will not reveal what device it is, nor will Win 10 recognise the device for it to show in Device Manager or connected devices.
Windows responds with a ding ding, but nothing shows up.
I am stuck, and any info gladly accepted.
Thanks
bump please

not working in my pendotab window 8
Hi,
I could get no further with mine, the same as you.
I contacted Pendo Support, and explained it would work but not boot, I even asked for the image file so I could reload it in recovery mode, however, they did not have access to it, the Chinese manufacturer had not made it available to them.
As I described it was not damaged, but simply not working, they agreed to send me a replacement, even though it was out of warranty, as really, as I said to them, it was not fit for purpose.
I had to send the old one back, but they sent me a satchel in which to do so, at no cost to me.
They sent me the new one very promptly.
Hope is not lost,
Someone has finally manage to extract the factory ROM for the pendo PNDPP44QC7. Just search the model number on needrom.
