Hey so I am currently following this thread to upgrade my DX2 to the milestone X2's 2.3.6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542456
So I am following the steps and I am currently on the SBF leak for 2.3.4 and I am instructed to OTA update to 2.3.5/413.
My question is how do I OTA update to 2.3.5/413 from 2.3.4? Sorry this may be a dumb question
It's in my signature Q&A. Easy to read :
Start here
Use Root Explorer>properties to check that the md5s match. Rename the Blur.zip 1Blur.zip and paste it at the root of your SD removable card. Power off>Power on>as you see the Big M push the rocker down>keep pushing down 8 times>push up>you will see the green creature AND OF COURSE HE IS TELLING YOU TO PUSH THE ROCKER AGAIN but IN THE MIDDLE like BOTH AT THE SAME TIME! (rant off)>choose "apply update from sdcard" and it will let you pick.
Be prepared to zurgrush after which never works for me. Hence the VooDoo.
thanks for replying; that was very helpful! i know i sound like a noob, but my md5 sums do not match? i downloaded the md5 checker and checked the properties and they do not match from: BD244133906F6D0096BE4B6603A85332 <-- the md5 sum you had posted on your thread below the OTA download
But are you matching the ota 235.413.zip? Do Not match the blur.zip in side.

c418af644d7774a....26e1 for the blur.zip inside
hey I don't see that thread you are talking about? Also when I try to flash it I get an error 7. Do you know whats wrong?
---------- Post added at 05:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:36 PM ----------
and my md5sum doesn't match either... DO I have the wrong zip? and if so do you know where I can find the leak? I can't find another link that works.
In my signature link.
Thanks I couldn't find it at first because the post is kinda long

I just checked em all ok . Do not unzipp on pc use phone.
When I use android recovery it says E signature verification failed... whats wrong? and if i use bootstrap it doesn't do anything it seems stuck at installing. And am I supposed to unzip the update? I usually used just the zipped files to install?
You are on what version of GB and trying to flash what?
I'm on 2.3.4 going to 2.3.5
Yeah, im still having errors too. Like I did everything you said; but when i go to update it it fails in the verification. The zip "OTA 235.413" I check and md5 sum matches; then i extract all and then i move extract file to root of sd card. then i rename the zip inside of the OTA zip to 1blur.zip and then i turn off; boot phone to stock android recovery choose the 1blur.zip to update and then it fails in verification. im on 2.3.4
You keep extracting till you the blurMB870...ver#.bla bla..zip
I don't understand I have done this before and didn't have to extract anything and when I extract I can't extract anything else? and when I extract there is nothing to install.
Sorry
Ota 235.413 is a folder inside is :
Blur_Version.1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US.zip
Rename to 1blur...zip so it comes 1st when you are using stock recovery
should i be rooted or unrooted?
Too zurgrush or VooDoo. ZR NO rooting needed b4 ota. VooDoo need to save su backup so yes.
I'm still getting that error and I'm rooted on zergrush.
Must be on the 234 leak and 100% stock for the ota to take.
Ok but I still have the same problem. This is crazy could there be a problem with the zips?

I tried installing the latest ROM version from these thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207125 ) Followed the instructions posted there.
Quote
" 1. Download zip and place on sdcard
2. Reboot into clockwork recovery
3. Perform a factory reset
4. Navigate to mounts and storage and format /system
5. Choose Install zip from sdcard
6. Navigate to rom zip and flash
7. Reboot
8. ENJOY! "
I had the zipped file on root of my external SD card....went into recovery mode...factory reset.....format/system........Went I tried to installed from sdcard....it would start to say something like "opening package...etc....Then it would say like (bad). Aborted"
ANY ideas. Now I cant even return to stock (was on official 2.2.3 GB). When I try to reboot....the screen just flashes every few sec w/ nothing on screen.
I am able to go back to the clockworkmod (5.xxxx) tho.....
please help...dont want a $500 paperweight
---------- Post added at 04:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 PM ----------
UPDATE: Ok I was able to get it back to a previous back up I had ( 2.2.2 ). But at least its now working.....want to get it to work w/ the mentioned ROM tho....
Download the rom again and check the MD5 sum before you flash...sounds like a bad download.
check the checksum against what or what do I look for? I see that all the ROMS have a series of #s and letters........What do I check for......?
cuz I have never been sucessfully flashed any rom....says the same thing.....can the zipped (rar'd) files be anywhere on the SD card?
anyone? I dont see any md5 checksum on the that ROM.....
I have a G2x with gingerbread 2.3.3
I got clockworkmod recovery using nvflash
I am trying to use these instructions : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17398464
to root the phone.
On step 6 i'm not sure whether i should use the cd command or change the PATH
so i tried both
And on step 7, my cmd says adb is not a command.
I am sure that i got the directory correct, and the instructions says i don't need to install the android sdk.
And, the link here is broken:
"1. Download my G2X root package that includes necessary ADB files (Android SDK install not required) and unzip the contents. The package contains the latest versions of “su” and “Superuser.apk”.
http://www.mediafire.com/?6rdrdfxvdoq9nkv <download link for my root G2X package>"
Maybe that's why it's not working?
I just downloaded the zip file that was in the 9/11/11 update:
Root Zip for G2X: http://www.mediafire.com/?92qpr525ztblh8w
Please help,
Thanks a lot
g2x root
I tried that method last night, and all I did was flash the root zip using ClockworkMod Recovery, boot and voilà. I was running stock GB 2.3.3 prior to that.
Sorry if this may be a stupid question, but this is my first time rooting the phone...
How would i get the zip file onto the sd card without having a sd card adapter for my comp?..........
---------- Post added at 04:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:33 PM ----------
i figured it out..
i feel stupid now :/
thanks for the help, otherwise i'd be staring at my screen wondering why my cmd doesn't work
I am planing on buying the droid incredible soon but the only problem i see is root i came before different possibilities on how to root the device and now i see the test device is dead thanks to hurricane sandy i came across this solution to root is someone brave enough to try it?
Requirements
Usb debugging on
Intructions
Decompres the whole attached zip and run the root.bat inside it and also be advised the script will make reboot your phone
Explanation
This is how the one x users got perm root so since they achieved temp root by the local.prop hack(our temp root) why not try it since it is the same thing but modified to stick after reboot!!!
Ps I think the bootloader should show tampered as with temp root
Disclaimer as usual im not responsible for anything but i may help
Ps i named zip mygift because this would try to be my first gift for this forum
Extra Ps if someone could upload me the vold.fstab file in system/etc i can make flashable zip for you to swap sdcards meaning microsd mounted as /sdcard and the 8gb internals of this phone as /sdcard2
Edit: im uploading a second zip trying to get the perm root we need anyone wanting to help try please report back
the instructions are the same
Sdcard swap mod
Reserved if permanent root achieved to post the sdcard swap mod mentioned above
Edit: andybones sent me the required file so as i promised ill attach the flashable zip as soon as i finish editing it, ill attach it here
Edit: now attached for anyone lucky enough to have his/her bootloader unlocked
So... what do you need?
Only a tester all you have to do is enable usb debugging in settings download and extract the zip attached and run the root.bat file inside
Okay I'll try in the am in guessing there's a risk?
The same as on the temp root guide as far as i know i read the script many times and i dont see much risk it only modifys the data partition and pushes the superuser app to system\app and also system\xbin and if im not wrong they are the same on our temp root method so dont worry
Ps thanks for being my tester as i dont own the device if something goes wrong(i dont think so,very difficult) flash the ruu
Rgr thanks bud
---------- Post added at 07:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:43 AM ----------
I tried running the script but it didnt work. it kept failing and saying permission denied
failed to copy busy box, superuser, su > permission denied
unable to chmod data/local/busybox, su, superuser.apk no such file or directory
failed on data/local/tmp permission denied
thats what im seeing everytime
Thanks for all im gonna keep trying
vold.stab
Okay so what files am i supposed to use now? Root try 2? Vold. zip?
Root try 2 please
restoring first backup...
please authorize the backup on your phone, and
press enter when backup restore has been completed
on my phone the screen says "a full restore of all data from a connected desktop computer has been requested do you want to allow this to happen? if you didnt request the restore yourself blah blah blah this will replace any data on your phone
please enter device encryption password
if restore data is encrypted please enter password"
---------- Post added at 02:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 PM ----------
i dont think i have a backup, or can you make backups with stock recovery?
it means everything is going according to the pan it is your decision to pres yes or no i think it would wipe the data partition(possibly not because htc dev does that part) and get us supercid , with supercid we can htcdev unlock again
Only continue if you want, all htc one x users did the same
I've already temprooted, and bootloader says tampered. I will try this too.

Ok now that you see that dont do anything as i think your data would be wiped im gonna investigate if you can make backups that way and remember you contacts and info are on your google account

You should only need a fake backup that's basically just the default background. I would recommend you make a real backup first though (adb backup -all).

You should do what captainrewind says hes correct
Linch89 you should make the backup and thencopy the files in a separate folder in case the new backup replaces the fake we are trying to get in
okay. in order to adb backup all i need sdk installed correct
i found this site

The commands I used to make zip package was:
Code:
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch
make bacon
(Brunch and Breakfast are for official devices only, I believe)
NOTE:
No more errors when extracting proprietary files.
Thank you to Kali- and chirayudesai for setting up device tree at: android_device_sony_z3c
And, thank you to the people who spared the time in correcting my silly mistakes, and for responding to my even sillier questions.
When i select choose form sdcard1 from main recovery menu, i get a wiping cache messages, and then it reverts back to the main screen, same when selecting internal storage.
When using TWRP from a different fasbooted kernel (AndroPlus Kernel for Stock FW / ROM), i get status 7.
Cheers
delect first sentence in update script leads to success of flashing this rom,it boots up,with animation, but when screen shows starting applications then it reboots, cannot enter the system.

No more errors when extracting proprietary files.
Did not touch updater script, though, so you find yourself with the same issues.
For those who do not know how to download from free file host servers:
I use Ad block so did not come with any issues, also never had a problem before today with go4up.

I'm on B309 right now. I'm not part of any Huawei user tests or anything, and my phone is basically stock--no unlocked bootloader or root, other than having installed B309. Can I use the downloaded (from somebody's google drive, not the OTA server) b321 zip file to update? If so, how would I do that?
you have to update to B320 first. Get it from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61682526&postcount=3
Then you can download the B321 update.
I installed it the other day, but it didn't take for some reason. Totally stock B320 here.
Once I download it, how do I get the update to actually run? Thank you.

I did that, the update ran, but when it restarted, I was still on B309. Sounds like a similar problem to NRFITCHETT's.

Unzip 320 to external sd card in a folder named dload. Boot recovery and it will update.
So that worked and I'm on 320. How do I get to 321? I downloaded the zip, but it had much more stuff than 320. I tried just putting the update.app file in the dload folder, but the update runs, but doesn't actually update me to 321.

Scratch that. For that one put it I'm your huawei update folder and do it locally. Folder is named HuaweiOtaU or something like that. Look around with a file browser. You will see it.

I'm having same issue as Bob. I looked for huawei update folder and signed up for imei ota through huawei support. I'm lost have 321 unzipped and ready just no clue where it goes?
Yeah, I unzipped into dload, pressed up-down, power, and it just says "Huawei software update 0%, do not remove USB" and stays there. If I move the update.app file into the dload directory, the update will run, but once it restarts I'll be at 320 still.
Didn't catch your edit, will try that.

I don't see that folder on either the SD or internal storage. I also am not sure what "do it locally" means.
You update locally from your phone settings bob. Look under settings, then go to updater under system settings, then hit menu at bottom and choose local update. I have been looking how to do this all day and I also couldn't find Huawei ota updater folder anywhere in internal or sd through computer or phone.
