My dad gave me a new 32GB sd card that he bought off Ebay, cheap Chinese card.would I have issues using it in my note?

try it? see what happens?
when you do put the sd card in format it first off.,then transfer your files to it that you saved, you should be fine though

Thanks

Settings, Storage, Unmount SD Card, Format Sdcard.
Make sure you don't format USB storage
Test it first to be sure its real so you don't lose data down the road. Ebay is full of fake cards

What exactly does it mean by 'lost' though? Because before I formatted and ran the test, there was about 16 Gb or so of movies and music on the card and they all seemed to be ok.
Answered my own question. Tried adding 10Gb worth of material. While some appears fine, some folders are filled with this:
Its a 2gb card spoofed to look like a 32. Don't know how they do it but you see first hand what the result is. They make a fortune off these things because not enough people know what they are getting until its way way to late.

Yeah its amazing the top rated one in Amazon had all great reviews except for a couple people who actually ran tests and found out they're fake.I'm going to buy one now but I'm hesitant as I can't trust reviews.I figure Samsung or Kingston from new egg should be a safe bet.

BuyDig had a decent deal on Samsung cards on ebay the other day I think they are out of 16GB class 10 but they may have other ones available and they area reputable seller.

Needing some help. I have a new 32 micro sd but can only download about 5 Gb of music...I tried looking but can't find a lead on what is going on. Running heathens m9.

Where did you buy it from. If ebay or you got it cheap, from else where, its probably fake.

Vibrant only supports 16 gig micro sd max. 32 gig will not work on it. Previous post may be correct it may be fake, they just modify the index so when you load it looks like it is a 32gig but in reality it is not. If you want to get a decent sd card that is cheap and reliable get the micro sd class 10 16gig by Wintec. I have a posting on the performance of various chips this performed the best and it was 35 bucks
32gb micro sd cards do work on the vibrant depending on the brand. Cheap ones from ebay have issues.

16 gig pny class 4 micro sd. It has 14.8 available what happened to the 2.2 gig left? and i noticed it gives you 3 options - NTFS, Fat (default) and exFAT.For mobile devices would it be good to use exfat or default fat?
Fat 32 is usually recommended.

The issue ur facing by "missing" space is because manufacturers measure space differently than the computer. One is the decimal measure and the other is binary. Read more here. Formating has nothing to do with it

Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
I'm pretty sure you are missing space because it is necessary for an sd card that size to have in unallocated partition of about 1gb. You *might* be able to resize it. All sd cards don't allow the user to use up the amount of space they claim to have.

There is a difference between bits and bytes, when you buy something ie 16GB card you are getting 16000000000 bytes, that translates to 14.91gb. You will NEVER buy something that says x amount of GB and it show up as that amount usable
. So multiply any advertised amount by .923 and you get the usable amount

cool i thought something was up with me sdcard.. thanks for geting back
I'm too late for this but may help for future doubts. Every GB has 1024 MB and don't 1000 as we usual say, in that order, 1 MB has 1024 KB and 1 KB has 1024 B. After this short explanation we got: 16,000,000,000 B/1024(in order to get KB)= 15,625,000 KB/1024(to get MB)= 15,258 MB/1024(to get GB)= 14.90 GB you get in your card.
I was wondering why you haven't complained about the 8GB card that you got with your phone (or any other that you had before ) , lol
I just received my 32 GB micro SD and I'm gonna put it in my note. I had a 16Gb. When I put in the 32gb it slowed down and my phone would freeze more often. I am running Liquid Smooth Jelly Bean 4.1.2 RC8. Ima format the 32gb so it can fresh it out. Should I reflash my ROM since I've upgraded the storage?

Did you move any system function or apps onto your ad card? I would put in the 32 and format and partition it, then take everything off the 16 and put it on the 32. Then report back your findings.
BTW- did you buy the same class card?

Had one of my 32gb micro's crap out on me today. Of course it was my more valuable to me card. Popped it my laptop to grab some files for a new Novena flash only to get a "must be formatted." Fired up testdisk 6.13 to have a peek at the partition before panic set in, just to find it detected as 32mb. Was a genuine Sandisk. Not impressed. Can't for the life me get the partition repaired. I'm fine with taking the data loss now, but can't get it to format. Going to try HP Drive Key Boot Utility once I borrow someone's WiFi in the a.m.

i read a thread here in the forums, cant post the link though, "sd card becomes lil slower when the memory is almost full or completely full..
btw go for class 10 which gives 10Mb/s r/w speed...class 2 is very slow...
so even if the memory card is 8gb class 10 it will show some performance..but 32gb class4 will be fine..but at some times u will feel it has become rather slow.." i didnt see if you mentioned what class the SD card was. hope this helps a little.
My genuine 32GB SanDisk MicroSDHC UHS-1 Class 10 card did the same thing almost immediately after I got it in Septemeber. It eventually died after two months of use. SanDisk RMA'd it, and I'm waiting for the replacement. I'm expecting that the replacement will also die... I think our phones is killing these SanDisk UHS-1 cards.
Mine was a week shy of a year old. Be my last SanDisk. Doubt it's our Notes doing it though. Had mine in and out of a Captivate, S2, Note dozens of times.

This thread is defeinetly interesting. I originally had a patriot 16GB class 10 (excellent card BTW), as I began to run out of storage I decided to buy this sandisk ultra 32GB HC1 supposebly read/write speeds are better than class 10? Wrong.. my speeds dropped even with tinkering with system tuner/ SD settings didn't seem to help much.. I have screenshots somewhere of both cards tested and compared.Well besides that One month goes by and my device kept trying to randomly read and scan the card as if I just turned the phone on? Games and apps wouldn't start saying app not installed? Eventually the card crapped out asking for a reformat, luckily I backed up the card before it crashed. I sent it back to Sandisk they RMA'ed me a second one I'm using now.. going on two weeks no issues so far. I'm thinking maybe there's a bad lot out there?

Has anyone ran into a issue with their sdcard and their Note2?
Last night I used my Note2 with no issues. Woke up this morning and noticed I had a alert message saying that the sdcard had been unexpectedly unmounted. Couldnt get the sdcard to remount. The phone wouldn't/couldnt reconize thw sdcard. And even my laptop couldn't reconize it. But the phone reconized a different sdcard, so I know the phone reader is still working. But this is a Lexar 64gb class 10 xc sdcard. Not some cheap trash. I lost my nandroid backups, movies, pics, etc....
Just glad I wasn't running the Jellybeans v18 on the sdcard swap selection. Then I wouldn't be able to use my phone period. Lmk if you have seen these sdcards go out before. Just beware!!!

What he's referring to is JellyBeans additional "SD Swap" feature which basically makes your phone see your SD Card as the internal storage. I don't know why he thinks his phone wouldn't work though, as with any phone the Internal Storage/SD Card is not required for the device to operate.

I've ran into this issue with Lexar jump drives and had to use command prompt in W7 to make them work again. It always happened when I would write a Linux distro to the drive to use as a bootable disk.
The fix requires you completely wiping the drive, which the two jump drives in question that I always have issues with are actually micro SD card readers with whatever size card in them.
Here is the link explaining how to fix it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/219693/unable-to-format-usb-stick-to-full-capacity/
What I have to do though is select the disk drive and once in it I have to use the Create Partition Primary command instead of selecting a partition because on my drives there are no partitions and it won't even show up under Computer most of the time. Give it a shot and see if it gets you back up and running, if not you may have a faulty card that Lexar needs to replace.

See I've never experienced any issues with either of my SanDisk 64 GB Class 10 and neither has anyone else I know that owns one. I wonder if they had a bad batch?
I haven't seen anything about other manufacturers 64GB Class 10 cards having issues yet but it is either something to do with Class 10 cards or a bad batch.

I reformatted both, but 16 gig will show blank card on the wife's phone until unmounted remounted. Both less than 6 months old, on the same day. I blame the solar flares, what else can I blame it on?

How do you go about doing this? I have no original paperwork or packaging, just a dead 32GB Sandisk card.
call 1-866-SANDISK (726-3475) and tell them about your problems they will ask for the numbers off the card. They make you send your to them first then when they recieve it they'll send you a new one.
