CM9 with i9100T modem no internet - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i flashed a i9100T modem on my phone with CM9 latest nightly(i know, i know, its a nightly rom) with this modem: I9100TDUKJ1.
I have no internet connection on CM9 but when i install Miui V4 SGS2 2.3.19, i get internet connection. This is weird.
I bought the phone from bell and now im overseas in Thailand and i need to use the internet.
Im on CM9 latest nightly and the internet wont work. Im thinking of flashing a i9100T modem! Please help! Thank you!
I tried KI3, KI4 and all the new ICS Modems and non works. So im turning to the i9100T variant since the 850mhz band in these modem works better.

Some modems are better for certain networks/carriers, so you can definitely flash the i9100T modem in your i9100M. If you are not happy with the network performance, you can always go back to your original modem - there is a huge collection of modems in xda. It will not kill your phone, I personally use different branded modem in sgs2 phone.

fixed
seems like apn settings was wrong.

How long Telstra take to update to 2.3.4?

So I just got the Telstra Galaxy S2 on 2.3.3
I know it takes months of testing for carriers to upgrade to a major release such as from Froyo to Gingerbread but what about just upgrading from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 how long do you reckon it would take them?
I am getting terrible battery life and want to see if 2.3.4 fixes it.
On the other hand, I realise if I cannot wait I can install the Australian stock unbranded ROM uploaded by intratech so if it takes too long I will consider that option but I just wonder what is the difference between the offical ones and the frankensteins?
It says it's for roms with multiple CSC's. But for the official XWKE7 there is only for CSC for Australia. However some users have requested the Optus CSC to be uploaded which it has.
I just wonder if you were to install the stock Australian ROM wouldnt that still work with Telsta / Optus / Voda etc? Why would users want the to have the optus CSC installed as well? I thought the idea of the stock's was to make the phone unbranded? What is the advantage of putting the Optus CSC on top of that? Is it for better network performance to make it work better with optus?
Since there is no Telstra CSC there will I be fine to install the official unbranded XWKE7 ROM and use it with Telstra?
Lastly once the Telstra modem drivers come out I could also install this onto the stock so I have the next-G optimised driver?
Thanks
CSC is mostly just apn settings for internet and mms and any Apps the carrier wanted to bundle. You can always manually enter your apn!
As far as modems go, you can seemingly use any modem with any rom/kernel, i am using the old ke7 modem with a kg3 rom.
As far as choosing a modem goes, it's a matter of trial and error to find the one which gives the best performance for you, for example 3UK just put out the KF2 modem, but it's not great for me.
2.3.4 is only available in kg builds the newest being kg6. KE7 is still a 2.3.3 build.
For me battery life improved moving into the kf's with wifi sharing frozen along with other junk but that would mean rooting.

My Internet is very slow. What can I do?

Hello,
I have "[ROM][JB 4.2.2][AOKP/CM10.1/PA] ReVolt JB I9100 [Ver.4.3][13/05][Hybrid+AROMA+PIE]" Custom Rom installed on my Galaxy S2.
My internet only works over WIFI. Not over UMTS / GPRS. This is very very slow. What can I do? I've done a modem update. Modem_BULP8-Vodafone....
Try more modems. Start with the modems bundled with stock roms released by your carrier. Then try modems bundled with stock roms released by other carriers in your country. Then try any modem you can get your hands on (there are dozens). Assuming it's not a carrier-side issue, which it is at least 50% of the time.

GT-I9100T Firmware Request

Hi guys, i want a firmware or custom rom for galaxy gt-i9100t, if there is any rom after 4.1.2 ! , also i have a question: the normal rom for g-ti9100 could be installed on gt-i9100t !!?
There isn't any stock firmware >4.1.2. Yes, you can flash I9100 stock roms on the I9100T, but you may have to use a modem from an I9100T rom if you're using the phone on a network belonging to a carrier who sold the I9100T.
okay 10x for help, i'm so greatfull
What about a i9100 custom rom?! Can i use it to i9100t !?

Yes, of course. the I9100 & I9100T (I also have an I9100T) are exactly the same except for a very slight difference in radio output, achieved by firmware - the modem.
If you flash an I9100 stock rom, it will include an I9100 modem which might (not always though) mess with your connectivity, and as I hinted at in my PP, in my experience, using modems which have been bundled with stock roms released by carriers which sold the I9100T tends to result in the best connectivity. You can check these by searching the I9100T firmwares on Samfirmware, which lists the baseband (modem), and you can then find/download whatever modem in question here.
However, if after flashing an I9100 stock rom your connectivity is OK, no need to change the modem. Only change the modem if your connectivity isn't great. Custom roms don't include modems, so flashing a custom rom won't change your current modem.
i got it, thank you very much for your help and your notes about the modem thing :good: .

[Q] Weak network signal after upgrading from 2.3.6 to JB

Hi,
I have been using ATT Galaxy S2 (SGH I777) for almost 2 years now. Immediately after purchasing, came to India and I rooted it with OCD Root Stock ROM.
Recently only, I updated the firmware with ATT Stock Jelly Bean (UCMD8) but I started facing issues with the network signal strength. Then, after a week updated to ShoStock3 JB v4+ jeboo_kernel_i777_v2-3a. Signal strength still ranges between ~3-5 asu. Not able to receive /make any calls. Most of the time it remains unavailable or out of network.
Tried various modems KE7, KI3, NELP3 and many others but of no use. (have tried each of these modems after keeping them for at least 3 days as mentioned in one of the thread that modem takes at least 3 days to settle)
Has anyone faced this issue or if anyone can help me out here....thanks in advance.
Tried reading many threads outta here but could not find any similar one..so posted here.
Regards.
I've never experienced that. When changing distribution or modem, there may have been slight variation in signal strength, but not complete failure.
I don't recognize those modems. Stock modems for the I777 would be KH7, KK6, LE5, LL6 and MD8. There are also modems from leaked firmware versions KJ1, KJ2, KJ4, LC2, LC5, LD3, LD4, and LK3. You can grab any of those modems in this thread. Try those and see what results you get, although when you flashed the I777UCMD8 firmware, it would have included the MD8 modem.
