Hi
I have tried all day to install ICS on my Neo V, and I always end up in a boot loop (after the XPERIA logo it restarts). I have tried KA06 ICS and another Sony based ICS ROM.
I'm pretty new to this and I'm not sure what info you need so please ask away.
One thing I noticed is that whenever I clear the dalvic-cache it gives an error (not mounted or something i think?)
Thanks

Did you succesfully unlocked your bootloader and installed a custom kernel?
Thats what i did to install k6 on my neo v.
1º Flash .64 baseband.
2º Flash .62 baseband with flashtools(check exclude baseband).
3º Flash kernel.
4º Recovery wipe all + install k6.
5º Flash neo-v patch.
if i install .64 baseband im stuck on xperia boot image loops.

Sorry for my bad English...
@krabappel2548 It came unlocked and with a custom 2.3 rom when I bought it. I can install a stock 2.3 rom using flashtool fine.
@equlog Yes this time I didn't flash the 64 baseband from the KA thread and just left the stock one on. (I had .62 stock)
@wilsonchuchu I tried that but it didn't help
EDIT: Somehow it works now! I flashed the stock rom again and have been using it for a while (I rebooted a couple of times), then I flashed the non-oc kernel and this time I was able to clear the dalvic-cache. The rest worked fine and I've just booted in to the phone. I'm not sure why it worked this time because I've been doing this all day.
Now for KA7 lol
Thanks for your help

You're welcome I also updated Neo V patch
KA06 looks really good, just one problem so far (if you can call it that) the cosmic flow live wallpaper crashes every time I try to add it. The other live wallpapers work. Is this because the hardware acceleration isn't fully implemented yet?
Downloading KA07 now

Will u made a mod when sony release official ics? i hope ^^
I've just been reading some more about the fw/basebands and it looks like the .62 firmware does include the .64 baseband. Looking in about phone seems to confirm that. Am I right?
.62 f/w has .64 baseband
Thanks, so for anybody else having problems with the Neo V it seems the best way would be:
1: Flash .62 firmware
2: Flash KA kernel.
3: Boot into recovery, wipe all + install KA.
4: Flash neo-v patch.
Here is the stock firmware .62 as an update.zip (for installing with ClockWorkMod): http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1518148

I think I may have found the battery life problem. Looking at the battery usage under settings, the gallery app shows by far the most battery usage. When I go to apps and find gallery I see it's running a service called picassa sync. Disabling picassa sync on all the Google accounts and then force closing the gallery app seems to fix the battery usage. Can some other people please try it and confirm if it works?
After doing this the cpu time and amount of the battery used by the gallery app does not get any higher, even if I make sure the gallery is running again and it moves down the list and the highest battery usage becomes the screen.

and about the widgets.. did anyone seems to have a problem with it? I have this battery widget after putting it up in homescreen, it doesn't move at all though the battery is decreasing, the widget stays the same. Same with player pro widget, you can press the next button fine but the music title and the album thumbnail stays.

Sorry to add on this thread but it seems that I dont need to create a new one for my Q.
I want to install WB v5 too but not sure about one thing, it says it's for unlocked Bootloader. I have Achotjan CyanogenMod 7.0.3 SE Remplacement ROM installed and I want to try something else since the battery life is horrible.
If I have to unlock bootloader, is there a way to do it straight from the rom I am in or should I downgrade to 2.1 first. Sorry but all the tuts about how to unlock bootloader are a bit complex and I couldnt find info about that scenario.
Thanks guys.

So, I guess this is the general thread for problems with WB's v5.0? If not I can make a new topic.
Anyways, I installed v5.0c, but it never boots up. It either hangs on the Xperia logo or the screen goes black. It goes like this:
1. white Xperia logo
2. Goroh custom kernel loading
3. back to the white Xperia logo or the screen blacks out
I've tried waiting 10-15 minutes, but it just stays on that screen. I suspect it's a problem with Doom's kernel. So I pulled the battery, booted up into Xrecovery and flashed Goro's kernel. Now it boots up fine, but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and if there's fix as I would really like try out Doom's kernel.
This ROM doesn't appear to like my phone or something I have on it at least. With the following loaded I can get my phone to boot, I see the lock screen and can unlock it but after that I just see the blue Sony background, nothing else. Power and volume popups work.
x10_2.3.3_stock-with-xrecovery-v3.ftf
x10_gb_stock_wifi_modules.zip
Wolf_Xperia_5.0.0s.zip

I updated from 4.0.4s to v5s and it works fine except for circle battery mod (after applying font&keyboard file. Mine is locked I guess Rogers Canada.
I'm currently running stock 2.3.3 from SE (through Rogers in Canada) with baseband 2.1.71 (rooted since it was released)
I planned on installing CM7 on my phone so I decided to unlock my bootloader so that it is ready when I eventually do so. I used FlashTool 0.6.7.0 to unlock it and it ran without any problems.
However I'm unable to turn Wi-Fi on. It only says "Error" and I'm not too sure what's wrong. I tried searching for answers but others with same issues were using custom ROMs while I'm still on stock.
Anyone know what I can do to fix this? If you're missing any information to be able to help me, please let me know and I will post them. (I have about a week to fix this as I'll be leaving on vacation and I'll need wifi working)
Thanks!
If you have really opened bootloader, for such device special kernels are necessary (stock or custom). Flash by FlashTool one of such ftf-kernels, then install with utility xRecovery the module wi-fi for this kernel.
The author of each ROM recommends, what kernels to use and gives the link on downloading.
just look for the kernel tht is meant for unlocked bootloader tht should work with stock rom n then flash kernel via flashtool n wifi modules file through xrecovery ur wifi will work
Which kernel u using? U prob need the relevant WiFi modules.

[Q] I really need some expert help on this guys!
2012-03-23 updates on what further tests I've done:
I've just flashed MT15i-Global.tft using latest flashtool in flashmode.
= did not work
Then tried wotanclient = did not work
Made fresh install of ICS beta(2different roms) = did not work
Please help me get my front cam working !
A few months ago the front Camera worked on my Neo but not anymore.
I cant really say if it just stopped working or had something to with flash of another rom.
I've rooted and flashed a number of phones before so i have some basics in this..
Currently running ICS on my Neo.
What I've tried to do to fix it.
1. Use SEUS but it said I have a modified android version and would let me restore...
2. WotanClient which restored it to .62 2.3.4. Failed at first attempt but succeeded at 2nd. >> front cam didnt work afterwards.
3. Tried other ICS roms and made several attempts.
The steps i took on installing another rom:
- installed fastboot
- connected phone
- run fastboot flash boot xxxx.img
- go into recovery
- wipe all, wipe cache, format system, dalvik and battery stats
- install xxx.zip
- up and running with non working front cam
Questions!:
1. How can I make a TOTAL restore of both bootloader, kernel, rom and everything to the stock firmware it got shipped with????? A step by step would be appreciated!
2. Any steps that I could have missed??
3. Anyone with similar problems?
4. How can I put it back to 100% stockrom to get warranty back and perhaps send on service?
FYI
The back camera also behaves strange on the ICS rom in skype/tango video call. It is miscolored.. On 2.3.4 it was ok.
Weird. Could this all be a firmware issue?
Can some provide all the tools i need to get it working? Or can I extract some logs or something that would help you find out if the front cam really is broken??
Where can I test the front cam or are there any appa to specifically test it in any way??
Desperate regards !

If it doesn't work after flashing official 2.3.4 firmware in flashtool with a full wipe, I'm out of ideas.
Does flashing with wotanclient really flash Everything?? Kernel, loader rom and wipes everything?? If the phone hasnt got a hardware fault something, it must be some step i did that sctewed something up.. Could try wotan again though but would rather have more people look into this before strarting flashing.
Afaik Wotan flashes / wipes everything and gets you back to clean Stock!
BUT, i already got problems wotan flashing / discovering the wrong phone type.
While i was trying out some different Kernels on my Phone (Mt11i SE NEO V), it seems that i picked a wrong Kernel and my Phone was showing me the Model Mt15i (SE NEO).
And even Wotanclient discovered a Mt15i...
Didn´t try the front camera at this point, but back cam was not working.
I tried to manually flash Mt11i Stock Rom/ Kernel (0.62) using flashtool.
Well flashtool did it´s work not completely, but far enough to reset the Model to Mt11i and Wotan flashed the correct Version afterwards.
My Hint, have a look at the Modellnumber in Settings, is it the right one ?

front camera solution
Hello and sorry for continuing this thread, but i have a query about the front camera of xperia neo v.
As all the above, I have the same problem with my front camera and I was wondering if I could somehow get the camera's apk file from gingerbread (the whole camera application - which is believed to be the last application compatible with the camera),would this solve the problem?
I am addressing aspecially to the developers .....
If anybody knows a way to solve this, please send me inbox a guideline.
Thanks in advance.
:good:
May be below the info can help you about the stock rom flash
1. Find the bootloader locker ftf (firmware file) file for Neo from the Internet (else inbox me I will find and will give you. I have that file but it's Neo V only). Once you flashed this file then Sony updater service will reconognize your device and do the update properly
2. Install Sony updater service
3. Connect your phone and choose the phone model then update to ICS

As respond to ur reply, I haven't try B.1.10..... I just moved directly to .544 to .54 ...
nd wat is this AC!D Audio Engine???
Firstly, it was 20-30 per day Yeah. I did alot of testing and I was too lazy to make a quick restore as opposed to going back to Stock to test again
And rooting with .54 is possible by Bin4ry. What you do is, you flash the B.1.10 kernel over the .54 rom, then root it using Bin4ry, and after that flash back the .54 kernel
Simple and sweet
And I asked about .10 firmware because if it was an issue with .54, we could fix it by using the libs from .10
And finally, AC!D Audio Engine is a collection of Audio Tweaks If your xloud was corrupt, flashing that might replace corrupt xloud and add a few new filters too

Oh Dats gr8, u reply too soon....
So acc to me, I flashed only kernels and nothing more, bcuz wat I feel is stock rom is better than any other custom rom...
yeah I have seen many roms under xperia p rom section and take a look on the screenshots, but again the problem persist, backup and restore tool me a long procedure and I am too lazy as like you...:cyclops:
So plz do me a favour , I will now move towards rooting procedure, jst provide me with pure stock kernel of both .10 and .54....
remember, pure sony branded stock kernel...
and 1 thing I want to ask, if I flashed a kernel, my all data gets erased like settings messeges contacts and downloaded apps, em I ryte???
And the thing bout the acid audio engine, I need a cwm recovery, and its not there in stock kernel, I think so.. em I ryte again!!
$o give me a method thru which I still at the latest stock kernel with root and and cwm inside it...
Will b grateful to press thankx next time also if provided with certain requirements get fulfilled!!!
Unfortunately, I dont think anyone's made a Stock Kernel with just Root and CWM for P. And you'd need unlocked bootloader for it anyway.
Lets go step-by-step..
1) Stock Kernel without data loss
First of all,do you have the stock FTFs of .10 and .54 f/w? If so, then open up Flashtool, select the FTF and untick all the options on top right side (ie,the "WIpe data, etc stuff) and tick all the options on bottom right (ie the exclude baseband stuff.etc) EXCEPT the "Exclude Kernel" option.. Easy way to flash Kernel alone without losing data
If you dont have the Stock FTFs for both, you can get FTF with just the Kernel from here : Stock Kernels for P by naruto20007 And follow same procedure I said in above paragraph to flash Kernel without losing data
2) Rooting :
With .54 Rom flashed, and .10 Kernel, root with Bin4ry method ( I advise using v9 or v12 cause they always work for me.. Ignore errors and follow the prompts.. It gets rooted in the end ) Then flash back to .54 Kernel and you got Root
3) CWM : Checkout CWM by Atis
PS: While you're trying out roms, can you just flash my rom and see if it boots and works without lag ? I been waiting forever for feedback and noone responded yet :/ I want to release it on Christmas if possible hence the rush ;D If you got some extra time, check it out Its in General Section right now. And size is :38MB only
First of all, I don't have those .10 and .54 fw as I always upgrade thru OTA....
Bt last time I was on unlocked bootloader and I don't know that I can't update it anymore over the air...
So I give it to sony centre to update it, as I relock its bootloader and my fone didn't start and I don't know the rest of the process
So fortunately my bootloader get locked and sony service centre repaired and update it...
So wat links u have given are both of CWM by Atis....
plz give me links for both kernel as the fw are too big to download them....
And thess day em out of pc as my motherboard get ruined up, so usually do all stuffs on my frndz comp...
So I try it nd tell uh!!
At last plz post the links...
Thank You.

My problem is a little different...I installed stock ics rom with thilinac's ics kernel (I've used it before, always worked perfectly) but the battery reading is stuck at 100%. I've tried almost everything but of no use, the battery reading doesnt changes
I switched off the phone, left it to charge for 2 hrs, switched on and calibrated battery to 100% but it still doesnt changes.
I tried performing a clean install (wiped everything-except sdcard) and reinstalled the rom but it still doesnt works.
This Ics stock rom had worked without problems with thilinac's ics kernel. Before this I was on mastero9017's moProject42 rom (based on CM10.1)
Please tell me how to get this battery status working again

No need to root again. Since the boot loader is unlocked, you can flash any kernel straightaway. No need to do those steps again. Flash stock ftf... Let it settle and flash the associated kernel for your desired ROM.
Don't forget to hit thanks.

Wanna try? Use your smartphone until your battery empty, after that you can charge your phone just like usual. Maybe that will work, my friend got same problem a few days ago.Sorry for my bad english, and good luck

That worked...I was earlier using moAOKP rom(4.1.2) Wiping all data and flashing stock rom didn't work...
What worked for me is..I flashed the moAOKP rom again (the battery status was fine again) I flashed a different kernel and wiped the battery stats still having moAOKP and then did a full wipe. Flashed the stock kernel and then the stock firmware and battery status was again working
