[Suggestions] Best App for Texting from Tablet - HTC EVO 3D

Looking for an App that will let me send texts from my touchpad to my phone,
I have seen a few but i really want to hear what other people are using to get it done. or if this is just something i like the idea of
I have a google voice account but i hate that it doesn't use my real phone number, also before you talk about the integration, its UI is horrible so i would rather not use it.

I don't know about texts because of your touchpad doesn't have phone signal, but why not just email yourself?

get an IM app

I think he just wants to be able to use his tablet to send texts via his phone. Meaning, he can come home and plug his phone in and use his tablet to send/receive texts from his phone. I am interested in the same thing actually. I don't wanna tote my phone around with me, if I'm chilling downstairs and using my tablet.

if you havent done so on sprint. get on Google voice.(its free for sprint) u can use the official Google voice apps on your tablet to send text thru wifi, also received them.

i tried a bunch of apps on my touchpad but never found one that works as good as google voice. my touchpad and phone are both set up with google voice and it's integrated with my sprint phone number so no weird number to deal with. works great for me. only thing is once you integrate, no more going back to vvm unless you call sprint to get it set back up.

Ummmm...did you even read the OP?
I have been looking for the same thing for a while. I have been using Airdroid which is webbased and it seems to work ok for me.

If google would spend about 20 minutes working on google voices UI I would probably use it.
I will look into airdroid, tablet text also has a decent amount of good reviews so I have been looking into that as well

I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5kMGxwaDFuazFuZy5zeW5jc21zIl0.
It uses dropbox to sync the messages between your phone and tablet. Works great on my wifi only flyer

how is it for UI, and for speed between syncing? that was some of the stuff i saw in the comments
because i have a dropbox account already and was looking at that, i also like that if i am out it mean i can use my phone to tether and then sync my sms anywhere.

Personally I like the UI. And the speed between syncing is almost instant when you have push notifications enabled. Here's a screenshot of it if you want to see it

I use mysms on my touchpad. You just install the app on your phone and tablet and then send texts from your tablet. I use it on my touchpad and works flawlessly.

Just an fyi: If you want the push notifications, you have to press the version number like 10 times or something (I didnt count I just hammered it until the option became available lol)

TexTab without question. I love it, and the UI is nice and simple (uses BlueTooth). It uses your messaging app in that it uses your phone's signal and leaves the text message in the history of the conversation on your phone.

When I bought my Transformer Prime, I looked at a couple. This one is great. Called Heywire - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mediafriends.chime haven't had any issue. send/receive pics, it's immediate when sent or received. plus it's actually free.

I have a better one for you go to Google play and search for mightytext, this app can be used on Google Chrome and the tablet and the flawless features are: sending mms, making out going calls, and it has notification of your text and the people who call you.

Plus one on mighty text. Use it in chrome and loaded the website on my iPad a few times

[APP] Textie. Text from any android device you have

Nothing like Google Voice. Sucks that you don't get a threaded view like other SMS apps. It sorts the messages by days. But wouldn't trade it for any other app. Nay sayers should give it a shot.

App to push phone notifications to tablet?

Is there an app that will do this? I would like to be alerted to all notifications that show up on my phone. I know there's one that does SMS but, I'm looking for something more versatile. I rarely use SMS.
Could Tasker accomplish this?

Try GtalkSMS from the market. Uses gtalk and will do what you want and more. Was one of the first apps i installed on my prime.

I don't totally follow that app. Do you load it on your phone and tablet and the tablet can get notifications of what is going on on the phone? So if you get an SMS or phone call to your phone it tells you on your tablet?
I agree with the OP that it would be cool or nice to get a Growl notification or something in the notification bar on the tablet if I get either a text message or a call - nothing more than that do I need.
Tablet Talk is what I am using and it works great. I think I paid $2.99 for it but it has been well worth it. It needs to be on both your phone and tablet so check it out in the market to see if it might be of use to anyone.
If you sign up for Google Talk, and link your Google Talk account with your cell # you can have text messages sent to your cell show up on your tablet (or anywhere else really). I have used it and it works great.
Same here with Gtalk. I've used that on my phone, and then my desktop and now my tablet. And any message I get will show up on all three places. It can be a little flaky when it comes to showing whos online (meaning sometimes it will show someone as online but they aren't), but other than that it works very well.
It seems a lot of you are only talking about SMS. A lot of people don't even use SMS these days.
I pretty much exclusively use WhatsApp for all my texting. So, I'm looking for something that will send me Whatsapp notifications. Really, an app that could push notifications to my tablet my from apps I pre-select would be ideal. I guess nothing like this exists at the moment.

Thank you for this. It's a very nifty app once you can set it up. Wish it had a GUI that would do the communicating for me. Unfortunately the incoming call alert does not work.
Have you figured out the Tasker integration? I can't get it to work.

Tablet Talk seems like a viable solution too. Though it wouldn't be of much use to me since I'd essentially be paying for the ability to get incoming call alerts.

does this affect how sms are received on phone? i really like go sms for texting, and dont want something else taking over or double notifying me
I currently use tablettexts but mysms is a bit **** compared to gosms... especially not being able to send texts when you don't have any signal (instead of queuing them to be sent when you do) so GTalkSMS sounds like an awesome solution - can you use it from the UK though? I'm having a bit of a problem setting it up - is there a guide or anything anywhere?
SyncSMS will transfer your sms notifications to your tablet

[Q] missing voicemail app

Phone: HTC EVO3D s-off running ICS/Sense to maintain appearance of being stock. At some point in the past few weeks, my voicemail app decided to vanish, possibly during a hard reset or during a drunken rampage in which I decided that all sprint bloat needed to die. Either way, I can't seem to locate a direct replacement in the play store. All I want is something to inform me of when I have new voicemails, even if it is just the standard voicemail.apk that comes with the phone. Can anyone help with this?
Have you tried Youmail? It's pretty good and it's has its own visual mail app or if you have Google voice use set it as your voice mail

I'm using youmail currently, but I'm not a fan of the stock greetings and haven't found a setting (if one exists) to personalize. I get a lot of client calls and would prefer that they hear my voice instead of a computer. Thanks for the recommendation!
I think there is a flashable zip of the Sprint voicemail app somewhere. I'm on my phone so I can't search easily. You could download a ROM with the app and get it from there.
If you have Sprint, you can get into your voicemail by dialing your own number from your cell phone. Other companies might work the same way.

WTF Google? It's just got a huge list of contacts that you cant even contact ?
I miss the status messages.
Cant go invisible
Why are G+ groups mixed in with the contacts? Make it a drop tab or something.
Only thing going for it is the ability to finally send images.

Gtalk is quickly dying, and hangouts is not getting any better. Like a few have said the inability to view your online contacts is a really big deal. I have no clue how my landline non data contacts will ever be able to accept my hangout request, why must I be spamed by people I might make a phone call to once a year, I could care less if they are using hangouts. The people I talk to on gtalk enjoy using gtalk for its cross-platform ability and the nice services provided by google, sure we could use another "Instant Messenger" service like we did before Gtalk, do we really want to? looks like decision day is quickly arriving, google just about 100% killed Gtalk on android 4.3.

Texting on the tab

I know I've seen it before but I can't remember where, but I am looking for an app that can send and receive text messages via Bluetooth or WiFi I don't really want to use Google voice due to the voicemail portion always sucking. I just set this up using DeskSMS / TabletSMS. The text messages send via my phone (and are also visible on my PC via a Chrome plug-in). I am very happy with it.
Of course it requires the phone to have an active data connection as well as the tablet, so that might not be what you are looking for.
Is there way to use tablet talk without the headset? Talk through the tablets microphone and hear through the speakers?
