Sammy ICS Browser can be ported to ICS AOSP? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi people, my question is because sammy's browser is much smother than aosp browser. Flash in sammy's humiliates aosp.

I don't know if it can be, because I think there are some dependencies necessary. I agree that it is a terrific browser. It's probably the primary reason I stick with stock ROMs. If it could be ported properly, it would certainly open up some interesting possibilities.

title rendering really makes difference. compare GN stock browser with GS2 Sammy ICS browser in scrolling and zoom smoothness. is an unequal struggle.
remembering that both are accelerated by GPU

Samsung apps require touchwiz framework, AOSP doesnt contain touchwiz framework, so no. Also gotta remember that AOSP devs are missing device sources for SGSII so many of the optimizations that were in AOSP gingerbread ROMs are not yet available for ICS, wait for sources before you decide that one is better than the other.

It can't be ported. The Samsung apps all require TouchWiz.

Touchwiz UX on AOKP

I love the Samsung camera app, and it works much better than the stock camera app on AOKP on my SII I777, but I understand my ROM needs to be Touchwiz based to run it... So I'm wondering this: Can I install Touchwiz on top of my AOKP ROM to install the official Samsung camera app, or is this impossible?

It is impossible because AOKP and CM9 modified the framework that TW requires to run.

Samsung Apps with S-pen functions

Does anyone know when there going to incorporate the Samsung apps into the JB builds? Like the Smemo and its S-pen functions (ex//double tap on screen to open note) or will there be an alternative with the S-pen functions created?
Try Paranoid Android ROM...it has S-Pen functions...

CM 10 Problems..
Anyone know of plans to incorporate S Pen apps/features into CM 10? I'm loving this ROM except for that.... I used S Memo all the time when I was stock... :crying:
The original S-Memo functions work only in TouchWiz. You can try some ICS TouchWiz-based rom like Padawan, Nebula (I tried both and they work), Black Ice and other stock/UCLF6 based roms.
Some JB roms have incorporated pen gestures, but it is not the same experience. And this is the reason that I decided to move away from JB roms for now.
Try out Blackstar X and you may not want JB.
With 2 versions of voice search and new Android keyboard with gestures. Ran a few days, ZERO hiccups. Mighty fine indeed.

That's what I hear all of the time is to go back to ICS with tw but I really would like job with tw which is the reasoning for this thread. Although black star is a great ROM, ran it for a day or 2, job is a lot better because its just so buttery smooth hahaha and s memo and that butter smoothness with the other tw features will be awesome. Its just no one has ported any for some reason. You would think someone would convert an international ROM or a galaxy s3 one..

At the moment, there is no TW based JB rom.
It won't happen until an official JB rom is released.
There are many, many people wanting TW on JB, including me. It has been asked before by many and the answer is no. Either go back to ICS with TW or live with JB as it is.

AOSP or Sense 4+ Rom?

Hi, I'm curious to know whether I should try an AOSP rom or a Sense 4+ rom? I want a stable rom with good features such as beats profile for all uses. I want 4G LTE to work and I want a really smooth experience. What do you guys think I should go for? I like the AOSP look on the galaxy nexus and that phone is really smooth, though the phone I tried had Jelly Bean, but still the smoothness was amazing and that is what I want.
Is there a way to get the sense 4+ rom and just get a launcher that has the aosp look?
Apex or nova launcher from the play store.
If you're looking for stability, then Sense would probably be your best bet.

Will having an ICS sense 4+ rom and apex/nova launcher bring smoothness?
I'm fairly new to roms and launchers so I don't know too much about them.

They're smooth enough for me, although I don't care too much for smoothness.
I do recommend Holo Launcher, though, because it has some jellybean features.

Sense 4 is pretty smooth and 4.1 even smoother.

Aosp is fastest smoothest, but there are minor bugs sometimes and you don't get the sense widgets if you've become accustomed to then as I have. The aosp camera is really lousy, that's main reason I don't use aosp. It's very hard to beat the sense camera with a third party app. Sense adds bulk and hogs resources. 4.0 and 4.1 are pretty smooth and you can turn off animations to make it smoother. Another thing to try is a senseless Rom that gives you the best of both worlds.

My only gripe with AOSP is that its really fast and smooth... 90% percent of the time. Sometimes it gets moody and will lag out or reboot, and it justtttt enough to be annoying. That 90% of the time though... amazing.

I just upgraded to official ICS sense 3.6 and have use both Holo and Nova launchers and I find that both the launchers don't look too much like the AOSP look. It's also not as smooth as I want it, but I wonder if that is partly because of Sense hogging up resources or something.
Does anyone know how I can get as close to the smoothness as possible of Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean?
Thanks everyone for your advice.
Apex is good too I believe. I haven't used it for awhile though

i really like nova launcher
would you guys say rooting to AOSP is the smoothest experience for the Rezound?
I find that the official ICS sense 3.5 is more smoother than gingerbread sense 3.0. I'm surprised by the smoothness. But I know it's not like the galaxy nexus jelly bean. I'm hoping to find a rom or some method to get more smoother and I prefer the look of AOSP over sense.
Thanks for everyone's thoughts.

Is there a ROM like this....

When I had my S2 there was a ROM that was built on Touchwiz but had stock features and apps integrated - such as messages, calendar, launcher...and all obvious Touchwiz features removed. This is the best of both worlds for me.
Is there a simple stockified Touchwiz based ROM for the S3, or is there a reason that this isn't possible?
There is such a dizzying array of ROMs on here that it's hard to know where to start looking for such a thing!
Thanks guys.
I run UltimaROM, It' based on on stock JB but themed like the AOSP one. Also it has Aroma installer and you can customize allmost everything you can imagine!

You can try Anroid Revolution HD

I would also suggest UltimaRom. You can install whatever you like with the help on AROMA.
I have removed touchwiz from my s3 and removed many default applications . Now my phone is faster than ever. It's completely customised and I love it.

Theme stock touchwiz

Would it be possible to theme stock touchwiz 4.1.2 to look like stock jellybean?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Huh?
Stock jelly bean has touchwiz.
Touchwiz is a framework exclusive to Samsung devices. So when you buy a Samsung phone you probably have touchwiz.
There are different versions of jellybean that don't have touchwiz that you can load onto a Samsung device. Like AOSP, AOKP, and many many more!
All roms can be themed. Some are more difficult than others and require more steps to do so.
What rom theme do you like?
Yeah I mean theme a touchwiz rom to look like stock aosp. Is that possible? I have no idea how to theme otherwise I would have tried to myself...

First off AOSP is Android Open Source Project. It's as basic as it gets. It doesn't have touchwiz, sense, or stuff like that. So it doesn't have a theme, it's raw.
If you want to theme the stock samsung rom first you deodex the rom. Then you can theme it. Beginners use xposed framework and various modules. Smart guys on here can decompile and edit code and files. Smart people that don't have the time to edit roms download already theme'd, cool, kick ass roms from here! I'm a noob so I google a LOT and use a combo of both to get what I like.
It has a theme... the os isn't freaking invisible stop being difficult.
He wants TouchWiz to look like vanilla android.
The look of stock android (meaning what is shipped on nexus devices) ics and above is called "holo" btw
You'd need a deodexed Rom, then you'd have to get the images from vanilla and place them in the corresponding apks in TouchWiz AND add the double called images into the TouchWiz framework specific apks and change any color Code xmls to holo blue.
If you just want the "look", a temporary solution is you could also install nova (or apex launcher) and then use the jellybean theme for nova or apex. I also froze TW launcher in Titanium Backup and installed the JB keyboard.
I did this after flashing Padawan JB rom, which is a Touchwiz/4.1.2 based rom.
