anyone working on a stock gb or asop rom for this device?
I use go launcher and it is a lot better than the samsung touchwiz default launcher. the other samsung touchwiz items do not bother me
That actually has nothing to do with what the thread was created for.
Give it time, people will start to develop for this phone as time passes
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA
I doubt anyone will bother with AOSP GB, most people seem to be waiting to do ICS roms, which is what this device should have come with anyway.
Most will be waiting to dev ics? That's honestly the most bs answer I've ever received on this site in my life. That's like saying they are going to develop yellow snow in hell but waiting for it to snow....

Assume what you will, but if I were a developer and I had any inkling that an OS update was on the horizon for the phone I'm using, I'd probably opt to not develop for an OS that will be obsolete, since it's likely that no one would even use the ROM once ICS is out.
In other words, if I were a developer, I'd wait for ICS too.

Am i wrong in saying that lol
Rom devs need source code to work from.
Alot of what you see going on right now is piddly because without source code, not much can be done (based on my limited understanding of how this all works).
Not to discount the one or two roms out there now, its a good start but Samsung needs to give up the goods.

The sources have been out for a while now.

Being the source code for all the i717 models are listed here i didn't know what it would take for an asop version of gb for the note

I honestly wish someone would put out a cm7 version for our notes to gives us something better than stock at least until ics comes out, not saying that saurom and tpc aren't nice and trust me I'm pretty happy with saurom rom in my note, but coming from my htc hd2 that had dozens of roms to choose from , and coming from cm9 before I got my note , kinda leaves me hoping for just a bit more rom developing that we have at the moment, if I didnt work 50+ hours a week and had kids to take care of I would take a crack at my own rom but just don't have the time for that level of development.

Thsts good news cant eait just picked this bad boy up and cant eait to put froyo on it
It's not a final release. Looks like it's some sort of alpha build that was leaked.
Most probably full of glitches. I'll wait for the final OTA update.
so tomorrow we should all have froyo?
No, it just means that Europe has Android 2.2! Not N.A. yet. =[
I intend to wait for an OTA update to 2.2. I would honestly recommend everyone else do the same as well. I am sure the firmware might be safe but you never know what else could be on it. Either way, if 2.2 is actually this close, this is great news to hear.
I am sure everyone here is smart enough to realize that is not an official samsung twitter account. You can just easily tell from the terrible avatar and named used yet alone the url of the site they link to is actually hosted at the free hosting service Webs.
I agree with above. I wouldn't jump the gun on this one just yet.
its not An official Blog or Site.......
And For Samsung to provide an update this Quick would be a miracle. so Im not buying it and im sure once the clock hits 12, you can either Flame me or Thank me for not putting your Hopes up)))))))))))
hopefully soon enough!

Agreed. I'll believe it when I see it.
That twitter account is so full of $hit.
It said the linpack score was 14.6, that is insanely low for froyo and the specs of the Vibrant. It should be around 40. Hell stock eclair is 8.4 or so.
Put NO FAITH IN THIS TWITTER ACCOUNT.

I havent seen any stock firmwares for the US versions. So *shrug* I dont believe it.
Yeah, the Nexus One running Froyo gets a Linpack score of 37.
The Galaxy S devices will score higher due to their better processor.
So, a Linpack score of around 14? Lies.

And then when you put into perspective the amount of indy java VM writing companys that might come around and do crazy speed ups to java with custom build dalvik java virtual machines it even more excite..but they won't release them to the general public and i don't think big companies are gunna bite..i hope google just like them and buys them whoever they are..
I agree with the earlier post...if this build reaches no more than 14 Mflops...I'd be willing to bet it is nothing more than one of the previous galaxy roms with spoofed info and just the frozen eclair files built in. Because as it stands that will get you from 12 to 14 Mflops. Real froyo on the vibrant should put out more than 14 Mflops, even if it is a test build or not, I'd be willing to say. But we will find out pretty soon I guess...

the firmware they claim they have they got from a directory on the samsung website, its not officially released.
I downloaded the free version of ROM manager expecting a lot of new neat things. After exploring things such as the free roms, i eventually paid for the app. When i look to download roms from the premium selection there are non to be downloaded. i see the same free roms as before. Im not sure whats going on but i wanted to get the better "paid" roms like cyanogen otherwise i wasted money purchasing the app.

Well, you might have wasted your money for two reasons..
1. There is no official build for Cyanogen on the atrix (meaning it is not supported officially by someone on the Cyanogen team (website)) but we do have a pre-beta build that is supported by quit-a-few developers from XDA. The Atrix Developers Team
2. ROM manager is just "easier" (somewhat) to install ROMS but you can get all the same ROMS listed here on XDA for free just by navigating to the website on your phone, download, then boot into CWM and flash.
I don't believe in buying an app if I can do it myself unless, it offers some very useful tools.
I believe the only thing that the paid version gets you - is the ability to initiate backups from the app itself and to install/update the superuser.apk. There may be one or two other things im forgetting - as far as ROMS - there are no "paid" ROMS.... at least none I know of.... including CyanogenMod
then i must say i feel like i want to pursue a refund from my carrier. i didnt get anything from buying the app, so i must have gotten ripped off.

Amazing! Any news on when it will be out?
will it be open source? for ports to HP touchpad cuz I doubt they'd do it if they care about 'consumer experience'
the UI does look amazing...its exactly what I wanted from a tablet
Its running on ICS, wouldn't it be possible to do distribute this as a custom launcher with its own widgets.
Either way its nice to see other companies taking advantage of the Android source and adding their own enhancements to it. Some call it fragmentation, but its no different than Linux distros. In the end the user gets the power to customize even more.
Why is Bud Bundy on their website?
On a serious note, Teknision has some real pretty eye-candy on their site.
But aside from contributing to the PlayBook interface, it looks like all they have done so far is prototypes.
The demo looks good but they are pandering to the OEMs, not the consumers.
If anything, I think you might see this on a very expensive, yet to be produced device.
Maybe next year.
Can't a Dev come up with something like that for us in the free world (donations given obviously), because stock Android on tablets in general has yet to impress me.

The world revolves around money... i cannot express how lucky we are to have the community we do, and the software that has come from it. Sadly, i see that community shrinking over time, not growing

In order to develop something like that, a developer would need to have the resources that teknison has, the man power that teknison has, the money that teknison has, and the test devices that teknison has.
none that neither I nor any other developer ever WILL have. so no, we cant come up with something like that. you cant just throw something like that together. its taken probably the better part of a year with a group of people to develop something like that.
So, time goes, but what are the news from Teknision about Project Chameleon?
I think I would get tired of this pretty quick. Transition animation is pretty cool but there is a point where I want things to open quicker and this just looks like a lot of graphics without adding anything all that great.
A lot of it depends on how whether it can be tailored to each persons wants. So many times I see something that looks cool on youtube but then you try it your self and it doesn't do what you want it to do.
Can this run flawlessly on CN ICS or classicnerd ICS?

Right now the HTC one x development is pretty slow, and while I do have a great ROM I always love getting new devices and flashing new ROMs. I love having a lot of ROMs to cater to my flash addiction. Is this phones development going to last awhile? I know there will be a new note that will come up soon, and I don't want to be left behind. Has anybody don't this switch? Or has anybody played with body devices and can give some pros and cons? Thanks!

We are just getting our feet wet on the note.
And the note 2 will bring ported content back for us also, including the X....
I'm staying here.....g
The development on the note is fantastic (JellyBean is 99% bug-free with h0tw1r3's CM10 kang and we have CM9, MIUI, Paranoid Android, AOKP and many other ROMs actively under development.

Greg hit the mark with his reply, the note is a unique beast externally but all of Samsungs high end lte line of phones are fundamentally the same internally. This bodes well for an extended development cycle.
One quick question about the HTC One X. Samsung has been pretty good with source code releases, what is the current experience with HTC? Do you find them forth coming with source code and drivers. If that has been the case, what other factor(s) do you think could account for the HTCs One X lackluster rom development?
The hardware your phone carries is high end, impressive specs; I would have thought developers were all over it.

Also curious about the HTC One X -- those are going cheap right now at least in my area, might need a good beater for those small-pocket days. Screen size is OK after using a Note, anybody?

We waited about 2 months to finally get a source code released. During this time period all members of the HOX community were sending ATT emails and constantly bombing their facebook mostly for the fact that our Bootloader was locked, and HTC stated they will provide official Bootloader unlocks on every phone they will release. Well HTC still hasn't kept up their promise and for new comers it's very hard to join the dev community because with the recent update there is no bootloader or root exploit. With the recent source code release I would like to think that development would be booming but I'm completely wrong. The code we got released wasn't even a full source code, but instead half. And to make matters worse it's already outdated, because the source that was released was 4.0.3 and we are on 4.0.4 now. The only bugs that we have been able to fix with the source code is Multi-touch on AOKP roms (thank god it really borked gaming on this device :good: ) We have one kernel that is released but it's not able to be used on a lot of ROM's because it's set on the old base, but everybody is on 4.0.4 now. The dev's are really working hard on making this phone the best they can, but HTC is making it very very difficult. The international version has a lot of dev support because of how powerful this phone can be. But I guess ATT is behind keeping back the updated source and an official BL unlock which makes me mad
The phone itself though is great. The screen is spectacular and I'd even go as far to say it's the best I've seen on a mobile device. The processor is very quick, and when I did have it overclocked to 2.1 ghz it reacted very well and I still got excellent battery life. My average battery life right now is about 3 hours of screen on time. I'm on CM9 ATM because it's the best vanilla experience we have. Hopefully that answers all your questions guys!

Because it was not fully developed yet. I sent @invisiblek a VK810 to get CM12 going on this device and he/we were trying to work out some of the remaining issues before posting it. Life got too busy for me so had very little time to work on the vk810. @invisiblek basically got this going himself. Hoping to have radio issue resolved next time I get a chance to play on this.

I'm not trying to start anything here. I kind of assumed everyone knew that the CM12.1 repos were InvisibleK's. Forked from NGVincent's github, which was forked from upstream CM11 V500 official. I'm not trying to take credit for anyone else's work. I'm just trying to get the ROM into people's hands. That's how open source works. you write something, you release it. But the average user (yes, even here on XDA) does not use Linux, much less knows how to build a ROM. It's not like i'm trying to take credit for anyone else's work
Thanks goes out to everyone else who worked on this, PaperWastage, CyanogenMod Team, TheRodeWarrior, DrGravy, etc. and anyone else I've missed.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood, but with the amount of work InvisibleK does for CM, I assumed he was part of CM Team. I'm sorry if this is not the case.
As we are all aware, GPS and 4G do not work due to some issues with the RIL. I've looked into it. NGVincent looked into it. InivisibleK looked into it. nobody has it working because the modem is a proprietary blob that no other CM supported device uses (except for the Droid Maxx HD, but it uses the CDMA side so still not of much use to us). To be completely honest, I doubt it's ever going to get fixed until some other pure LTE device that uses the msm8960 gets a GooglePlay Edition. either that, or someone with a whole lot more free time and talent than any of us have sits down and reverse engineers the RIL from the stock ROM. Probably not gonna happen...
The fact of the matter is, that while having working data would be nice (and certainly the last major hurdle to get over before official CM status can be achieved), it's hardly a deal breaker. To be honest, on my tablet I could care less. I only ever use it in places I have WiFi anyway (work/home). We've been using a 4G-less CM11 ROM for at least as long as I've been developing for this tablet, and nobody seemed to have any complaints about it. Only positive things to say.
and for the record, it's come to my attention that semi-nightly builds are available here at http://www.invisiblek.org/roms/cm-12.1/vk810/
credit where due...
