[Q] Connect two Android phones to share voice and data - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm looking for a solution to connect one android phone to another over bluetooth to share voice and maybe data service. What I want to do is use my old Dell Streak as a GPS/media player in my car without having service to it. I would like it to connect to my current phone so I can make call through it, like a headunit with hands free bluetooth calling. I'm not so much worried about data, though it would be a plus but I don't think Android supports connecting to ad-hoc networks. I can't seem to find any app that supports this, and I'm not seeing anywhere on the Android system where this is possible. I haven't owned a car stereo that supports bluetooth calling so I'm not sure what to look for. If anyone has tried this and could help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Nevermind. I found a thread on here with a group actively looking for a solution to this. Thread can be deleted.

I guess a simpler way to put it is to say I want to make the phone in the car act as a handfree device for my phone with service, which would be in my pocket. I did find a couple threads which were just dead ends when searching with those terms. Does anyone know if the bluetooth api supports the phone acting as a device? I see that might be an issue I have come across in my searching so far.

[Q] please help me figure out what else i need

Hi, I'm planning on using my i777 as an android hotspot to run a small car PC/ media system
1) no matter what rom I use my wifi tether never works. I always get errors . I just downloaded the wifi tether app so I will try it out when I get the chance. Does anyone have advice on getting native tethering up and running? From my limited knowledge I am thinking what I need for this setup is infrastructure and not ad hoc.
I just bought the galaxy wifi 5.0 to mount in the dash.
I have an archos 5 with 500gb hdd I will hide to store media or I can buy a media HD if that's a better alternative
So in theory do I need anything else or should I be able to get a simple system together with what I have with the i777 tying everything together and providing a internet connection to the galaxy 5?
Thanks in advamce. I'm sorry if not all the questions pertain to the i777, but I figured most people who could help me with my error issue would know the rest of the answers and it made more sense then cluttering up a few different areas with separate threads

gps issue

i have a program that relies on constant gps location but it wont connect to the gps on my i9000 is the gps routed to programs via "com" ports? if so is there a way of finding out what port its on and if i can find out what port the program uses?
its not that the gps isnt working cause it works for all other apps that use it, also i know the app uses gps exclusivly not the getbestprovider() function im just wondering if getting the gps info is different od different devices or does the os talk to the hardware then pass on the data to the app?
melli.
can anybody shed any light on this issue please?

[Q] Bluetooth Tethering + Hisense Sero Pro Question

Having no wifi here at the present moment (and honestly not wanting it), I have a bluetooth USB stick for my XP computer. My hope was to tether my Hisense Sero Pro 7 to it and surf the internet in this manner. I was able to pair the devices successfully, but not able to find a way to get the Sero Pro on the internet from this connection. Also, I noted that, even if I was just going to transfer files, I was not having luck just tapping the Bluetooth button in the notification tray and pulling anything down. I only get the Quick Settings menu. My questions are:
Can I bluetooth tether and use my desktop's hardwired internet connection access on the Sero Pro 7? If so, what are the steps after they are paired?
What am I doing wrong, so that I cannot get the bluetooth screen to drop down so that I can exchange files? It is just a tiny icon.
BTW... I also noted that the software button I am supposed to slide to turn bluetooth on and off is very hard to get to work. Anyone else have this issue. So far, I am unimpressed and frustrated. I have 7 more days to take it back to Walmart, and am truly considering it.
I searched for answers to this, but did not find anything.
Well, one more thing... Can software such as Virtual Access Point create an infrastructure access point on my computer (with a wifi stick)? I read here that an ad hoc wifi connection will not work with androids.
Also, thanks for all of the wonderful posts I have read here. I decided to go with the Sero Pro 7, based mostly on what I have been reading in this forum. Please count me in as mentioning that this tablet needs its own forum.
Thanks in advance!

Sony Z2 Tablet WiFi Only (SGP511) forces disconnects from Hotspot without Internet

So i have a customer that has bought a product from us. This product takes data from your boat (position, speed, wind, depth etc.) and transfers this over WiFi to wireless devices. There are apps that can make use of this information to turn your device into a navigation tool. My customer has installed this on his boat and is trying to connect his tablet to it. As there is no internet from this source, the Tablet will connect to the hotspot and then immediately disconnect. This is due to the software on the tablet deeming the source not good enough and will say "Avoided due to poor internet connection".
He let me know his fault and I looked through my settings on my Z2 tablet, which is the WiFi/LTE version (SGP521), i found an option to stop my tablet disconnecting. I called my customer and guided him to this option, only it wasn't there for him. I have asked him to update his tablet to the latest version, but still no option is found.
Sony have been very unhelpful, they said to find a third party app, i found one, but it requires rooting, which i cant ask my customer to do.
I told Sony this and asked if they can recommend something. They said no and that was the end of our conversation. Very helpful.
I know that our product is not the only one that generates a hotspot without an internet connection. I think the GoPro works the same way.
So my question really is, does anyone know a non-root way of connecting to this? Whether its an app or a hidden setting somewhere.
Thank you very much for your help.

Is it possible to connect multiple phones with bluetooth and use one to make all call

Hi,
i may have a strange request.
Currently i have 3 different mobile phones and find it difficult to manage them properly.
I have an iPhone, OnePlus One and a new testing device from a carrier. I use iPhone as my personal number and OPO as business number. 3rd phone is for testing LTE networks only.
Will it be possible to connect these phones using bluetooth so i can call from a single phone say iPhone or OPO (actually call from other phone but manage it from single phone only?
I tried searching online for something similar but couldn't find anything useable. If someone has some idea on this then that would be really helpful
Thank You
its not possible dude....!
It's not possible directly, but you could try remote control apps. There's several available in app/play store, where you can remote control one device from another. (Many based on VNC)
Not over bluetooth though. They work over wifi.
might be possible in future
Yes, you guys are right. This does not seem possible at this time but in future we might be able to do something similar.
found this link with a kickstarter project which will be doing same thing over bluetooth. Couldn't post link due to my account being a new one. But if you can search for "piece sim card bluetooth adapter" you can get articles on this tech.
